Sesshoumaru's pupils dilated, youki spiking in all directions. It called to her on a cellular level, reiki flaring, and the trees around them bowed from the weight of their power.

Kagome would have whimpered if not for the way their connection burned within her. She knew in that moment it would always be that way between them, a quiet desperation that only worsened the longer they were apart.

She reached up, fingers tracing the lines of the now jagged lines on his face. "I love you," she said again, the words barely passing her lips before his mouth was on hers. Electricity quickly turned to flames as hands delved under clothing, grass tickling her skin as he lay her down amongst the flora.

The garden became their oasis, bodies entangled, the rose bushes the only witness. And each time Kagome thought she couldn't go on, that it had to be the last time, the low timbre of his voice coaxed and energized, leaving her to cry out as she tumbled off another precipice.

Muscles rippled under his skin as she begged him to let go, to fulfil his whispered promises of forever, nails digging into his back as she pulled him closer. He growled in her ear, instincts taking hold and robbing him of the ability to form words. But even as she felt his fangs against her neck, there was no fear, only acceptance and excitement.

The pain only increased the flames, their bodies fully engulfed as she arched against him. Her declaration tumbled out of her mouth on repeat as life forces merged, anchoring their connection so that they'd never again be separated.

She was his.

He was hers.

Together they were more.
