Bella: Present

Salem in September is unlike September in Baton Rouge. Which is why I am standing in front of my closet now deciding on what to pack. We didn't know how long we were going to be away from here so I needed to make sure I had all my basics covered. For someone who doesn't get hot or cold, I still needed to keep up pretense. Even my last name has been fiddled with over the years.

We started out as Swanson, but now we go by Swan. I don't recall how our father got his last name because last names weren't that common when I was a child. I've always hated that I carried his last name. I suppose I could have changed it but it's also my brothers last name which is why I've kept it.

Anyway, back to packing. So let's see. I need a heavy coat, gloves, hat, and a scarf plus my regular clothing.

"You should pack your red and black dress." Jasper said from my doorway. I was so lost in thought that I hadn't heard him approaching.

"Do you think I will need it? It's not like I am going to party while we are there." I laughed.

Jasper laughed with me, either from my laugh or him feeling the humor in my emotions. "Well bring it anyway. One could never know. Now hurry up. We leave tomorrow morning."

"Yeah yeah."

I continue for another hour picking clothing that would be appropriate for Salem. Once everything I am taking with me is on the bed. I begin to fold it to place in my suitcase. After about thirty minutes, I realize that I will need two suitcases and a small one for my shoes. When the hell did I become this type of female?

Of course I couldn't leave out my jewelry. This is when I realized that there was something in my jewelry box that should have been wrapped up tight and packed neatly in the attic with all the other stuff from that time era.

Inside my box was a beautiful pendant made from a fallen tree branch. It was attached to a piece of rope that I used to use to put my hair up sometimes. He made it for me for my sixteenth birthday. He carved my initials in it with a beautiful rose in between them. The thing that no one noticed when I wore it was that he also carved his initials in the stem of the rose. It was so tiny that one would not notice at first glance. This piece of priceless art is almost 800 years old yet the wood has not withered which made me think that his mother must have used a spell on it.

After inspecting it, I decided to put it on and looked in the mirror. The emotions that came over me, I haven't felt in a long ass time which I'm sure is what caused Jasper to come running to my room.

"What's wrong?" He asked from my side. Emmett trailing behind him.

All I could do was turn to them speechless.

"Whoa."

"Is that?"

I nodded, not trusting my voice.

"Wasn't that in the attic with everything else?" Asked Emmett.

"Yes. I swear I wrapped it carefully and put it with everything else from that time. You both were there. You saw me wrap it." I answered.

Emmett scratched his head. "That was what sum 700 years ago right?"

"Yeah."

Jasper walked over and looked at it carefully. He looked up at me, "Is that E?"

"Please don't say his name. Please. This is enough as it is without his name." I walked away from them and to the window. "You go without me. I can't do this." I cried and I haven't cried in I don't know how many hundreds of years.

"Bells, don't do this again. Don't close off from us again." Jasper whispered to me from my left side.

Emmett on my right, put his arm around my shoulders. "Truly, Salem doesn't look the same as it did back then. I'm sure it will be easier now."

"Exactly what he said. You can do this. We will be with you." Jazz said.

"Besides, think of all the festivals that will be going on. Think how the blood will taste." Emmett said with a smile while licking his lips. "Oh how sweet it will be." He laughed.

I even had to smile at that. I elbowed him. "You big oaf. Thanks guys. I needed that. Love you now and forever."

"Now and forever." They repeat.

We stood there for I don't know how long. Both their arms around me. We just stare out of my window to the street below. There was a parade going on. For what, who knows.

I'm not mentally prepared for this trip tomorrow but I'll make the best of it if only to find my daughter. So technically, she's not my biological daughter, however she is my blood daughter since it was I who created her.

"Since I am all packed, I think I will go out for the night. Don't wait up." I tell my brothers.

Jasper laughed. "Now, don't stay out too late. We leave at sunrise. And please for the love of me, stay out of trouble."

Emmett and I laughed. "I'll try my best. Now get out so I can get changed."

I changed into a short black dress with the back open. It had a built-in bra which held me nicely. Fishnet stockings with my black fuck me knee boots. I decided to leave my necklace on. I threw my hair up in a messy ponytail. The night is young and I am on the prowl.

I blew my brothers a kiss on my way out.
