Yang Xiao Long

Love interest: Yang Xiao Long

From: RWBY

Glynda Goodwitch walks up on the training arena. "Once again, Mr. Arc has shown the dangers of not balancing defense and offense," even though the teacher did not say it directly, she scolded the student. "You are dismissed."

Jaune stands up only for the knight to get shoved down by his opponent. Cardin snickers, "My bad, Jaune-y."

"Mr. Winchester!" Goodwitch scolds him and he just continues to his seat, with Jaune not far behind. Looking back at her students, Glynda tells them. "We have enough time for one more sparring match. Who would like a turn?" and she spots one particular hand raise above the others. "Yang Xiao Long!"

The brawler pumps a fist, "Yes!"

"Since you're so enthusiastic, why don't you choose your opponent?"

"Let's see," she looks over her classmates. Many of them praying 'not me, please don't pick me.' "Eeny, meeny, miny…" her eyes then fall onto the new kid, playing a game on his scroll. "Duncan!" she shouts.

The hybrid immediately hides the scroll and automatically shouts. "Yeah!?" unsure what he is wanted for.

"Sweet!" Yang hops out of her seat. "You just agreed to be my sparring partner."

"What!?"

Glynda smacks her crop in her hand, and shouts "Absolutely not!"

"But, why?" the brawler complains. "I'm curious about what he can do. I mean the dude shows up out of nowhere halfway through the semester and he's enrolled without doing the entrance exam and not placed with any team."

Nora than stomps her feet and shouts, "Yeah. We deserve to know the truth. We will not be subjugated to the lies no longer!"

Lie Ren sighs and just says, "Nora!" and the hyperactive girl sits calmly next to him.

That is when Weiss speaks up. "It is rather odd. Huntsmen academies are well known for pairing everyone into teams and Beacon has always been strict with it as they have never allowed leeway with that rule until now," the heiress stares at Duncan. "What makes you so special?"

The hybrid has no idea how to answer that, given that he doubts anyone would believe the truth.

Glynda then shouts, "That does not matter! Mr. Rosenblatt will not be participating and that's final!"

"Give them what they want, Glynda," come's the voice of the headmaster.

"Prof. Ozpin?"

"They are just curious," he takes sip of his cocoa. "It's in their nature as children."

Goodwitch approaches him and whispers, "Ozpin, I have a lot of respect for you, and I owe you my life. But I must put my foot down. We cannot allow this. He is not even from Remnant; we know little about him. There's no telling what his limitations could be and we're not even sure he is capable of using a semblance when him having aura was a long shot to begin with."

"That is why we should allow this," was his reply. "The only way to learn his limits is for him to actually participate in these classes. It would also let him hone his skills, as you are aware a huntsman that does not train came become blunt. If anyone can withstand his strength it is Ms. Xiao Long given her semblance."

With a heavy sigh, Glynda walks back up on the arena. "Mr. Rosenblatt, approach the arena for your first sparring match."

Duncan removes his shoes before rising from his seat then takes off his jacket.

Hearing this, the blonde brawler cheers. "Yes! Alright, Lizard boy, prepare for some butt whoopin," she then stares dumbfounded as everyone else is at seeing the hybrid removing his shirt. Yang then playfully growls. "Not that I don't enjoy the show, but shouldn't you gear up and grab your weapon?"

Duncan smirks, "the only weapon I need is this," he holds up a fist. "And as for gearing up? I'm about finished," then he crosses his arms and in a swift motion, brings them down to his sides, flexing his muscles, allowing his kaiju heritage to reveal itself.

All the students gasp seeing his claws elongated, horns sprouting from his head, fangs grown, and his scales thicken.

Duncan can hear, Ruby asking Blake, "I didn't know a Faunus can become more uh, Faunus-y?"

"They can't," Blake reaches up to her bow. "At least I didn't think they can."

Duncan sighs as he has gotten tired of being called a Faunus, as that is inaccurate. However, it has provided the perfect cover for his skin condition.

Cardin starts laughing, "He must've gotten his looks from his mom." And his teammates joined in.

They hybrid turns to the bully and shouts. "My mom's actually human! I have my old man to thank for this," and gestures to his face. The students quiet down hearing that. Human and Faunus relationships are not unheard of but certainly not common.

Yang smiles, "You are full of surprises. What else you hiding?" she glances down at him.

"Wouldn't you like to know?"

"Oh, trust me. I do,"

Nora screams, "Enough with the flirting and get to breaking his legs, Yang!"

Many of the other students starts hollering and cheering for Yang.

Duncan was honestly insulted by this. "Hey, are any of you rooting for me!?" the hybrid then spots the timid Velvet raising her hand up with a slight blush forming on her face.

Glynda steps off the arena and looks back at the two students. "The match begins, Now!"

At the signal, the two blonds charge each other. Duncan swipes at Yang, only for her to dodge and punch the kaiju kid in the side as Ember Celica ejects a round of dust, pushing him away. The hybrid clutches his side as he actually felt that. He runs up to her for another swipe, this time he was ready for the dodge as he then avoids Yang's oncoming fist and kicks her.

Everyone marvels at seeing how much aura the kaiju kid's kick had taken out.

Yang laughs, "Oh, man, what a kick. And I thought I packed a punch. Well, perhaps I should—" she stops and is horrified at what is in Duncan's hand.

Duncan lifts his hand and sees three strings of golden air.

Ruby whispers, "Oh no!"

Nora is holding a tissue to her eyes. "I'm going to miss you, brave lizard warrior."

Duncan just raises a brow at them. "What are you talking about?" then turns back to Yang as she begins speaking.

"You," her hair starts glowing as if it is on fire. "You monster!" she shouts as her eyes shift from lilac to red. She uses Ember Celica to propel herself forward to deliver a powerful punch. Duncan dodges, only to miss the other fist that uppercuts him all the way to the ceiling. As the hybrid comes falling back down, the brawler was ready and punches him into the ground and continues repeatedly.

Ozpin examines his scroll. "Interesting," he says as he holds it out to Glynda. The scroll shows that it is examining the room's temperature. "Since this fight started, the temperature has been growing at a steady rate."

As Yang is about to deliver another punch, Duncan manages to catch it, when the brawler tries using her other hand, he grabs it as well. The hybrid's eyes are glowing as his hands starts melting Ember Celica. Yang's eyes return to their normal lilac color as she could not believe this was happening. The kaiju kid then throws her to the nearest wall, shattering her aura. He then creates two flaming halos and tosses them at Yang as she stands up. Each halo somehow pins an arm against the wall each.

Yang stairs at her opponent. "Uh, Duncan? I'm out of aura, the match over. You know that, right?" she tells him as the Duncan's scales redden. He opens his mouth to let out a roar as a jet of flames spews from it. Instead of heading towards his captive, the fire forms around Duncan. His size increasing greatly and soon, standing in the hybrid's place is a flaming, giant, draconic beast. It glares at Yang as its maw opens and a blast of pure heat and flames shoots out at the blond brawler.

Contact causes a massive explosion and dust and smoke to spread everywhere. As the smoke clears students cheered as they see standing in front of Yang not only Glynda holding some of the remaining embers in her telekinesis, but Weiss creating a barrier with one of her Glyphs. The Beast falls over as the flames dissipate, revealing an out cold Duncan with smoke coming off his skin. As a result, the halos holding Yang in place vanished, freeing her.

Glynda lets go of the embers as Weiss drops her Glyph. "Thank you for your assist, Ms. Schnee."

"Ugh!" Duncan can feel that everything hurts. "What happened?"

Yang laughs. "I'll tell you what happened. You turned up the heat. I knew that you were hot but now? You're smokin!"

Duncan just squints at the laughing brawler and then turns to Ozpin.

"Congratulations are in order, Duncan. It seems that you have discovered your semblance," the headmaster shows him his scroll, playing back the last moments of the fight.

"That's me!?"

"Indeed, it is," Ozpin puts his scroll away. "Now it is only a matter of controlling it. I shall take my leave," he says and leaves the arena.

Glynda faces her class. "That ends the match. Class dismissed."

Yang walks over to the hybrid. "You okay, dude," she holds out a hand for him.

"Am I okay? I should be asking you that from what I saw!" Duncan accepts the offered hand, and the brawler pulls him up.

"That was nothing," she waves it off. "I've had worse. Okay, that's a lie, I was actually scared for a moment. It's been a while since I've had a real challenge. Goes to show that I have quite a way to go. By the way, dragon boy you owe me some new gear," she holds up her arm to show a partially melted Ember Celica.

Duncan gawks at the sight, "I did that!?"

"Yup!" she tells him giving the p a 'pop' sound.

"I am so sorry. I'll pay you back I swear."

Yang thinks for a moment before smirking. "How about this. You treat me to my favorite place, and I'll pay for half of the replacement parts needed to fix my gear."

"Done!"

"Great! Meet me at the airships at five and dress casual," she leaves over to meet up with her friends.

Blake looks up at her partner, "Another one-night date?"

Yang shakes her head. "Nope. This is not going to be one of those."

Weiss raises an eyebrow at this. "Really? What makes this one so different?"

"Dunno really," Yang turns to see Duncan putting his jacket back on. "There's just something about him," then a smirk appears on her face as she faces Blake. "Wonder if I should take some pointers from one of your books?" at this, the cat Faunus' face blushes and Weiss facepalms.

Ruby just looks from the embarrassed Blake to the annoyed Weiss and then at her chuckling sister. "What books?"

Later that Evening

"Not happening," Junior tells Yang and Duncan.

"Come on, Junior," the brawler puts an arm around his shoulder like they are best buds. "Do a girl a solid."

"No!"

"Why not?" she whines.

"Because every time you come here, I have to close down for remodeling."

Duncan looks at Yang and asks, "Really?"

Yang pulls out her wallet and gives Junior some Lien. "I'll tell you what," she holds out a hand to Duncan, who gives her his wallet. "We'll pay for everything in advance," and hands Junior some more Lien and returns Duncan his wallet. Junior just glares at her. Yang then sighs and pulls Junior to the side. "Look, you've already seen what I can do. Twice. What if I told you that my date managed to beat me? Just imagine the kind of damage he can do if he is unable to treat me to a nice night on the town?"

Junior lets out low growl as he glares at Duncan. "Give them the VIP treatment."

The two clank their glasses together. Yang quickly chugs her drink down. "Now this is what I'm talking about," she says as she leans back in her comfy seat and lets out a sigh of bliss.

Duncan then asks, "Did you really use me to threaten the club owner?"

"Don't think of it that way. Think of it as me promoting you finally discovering your semblance and we need to celebrate it."

"You know that I can't control that yet right?"

"Yeah, but they don't," Yang points at an approaching server who comes to replace her drink. "Just relax and enjoy the night."

Duncan smiles as he chugs his drink.

The Next Morning

Duncan shouts as light hits his eyes, followed by Yang shouting, "Rise and shine, sleepy head!" she has just pulled the curtains open. Turning around, the brawler sees the hybrid struggling. "First hangover?"

"Yes," he whines. Looking around Duncan takes notice of the fact that he was not in one of Beacon's dorms but a cheap hotel room. "What happened last night?"

"You mean besides being the only lucid one to drag your sorry kaiju butt here to crash after we missed the last airship back to school?" Yang jumps on the bed to lay next to him. "We talked. A lot."

Despite the immense pain it caused them, Duncan's eyes widen as he registers what she said. "What did you just say?" he sits up worsening the headache.

"We talked," Yang shrugs.

"Not that. You just said kaiju. How do you know that word?"

"Like I said, we talked. A lot. Prince Duncan," she laughs as the hybrid falls back on the bed.

"I was supposed to keep that a secret," he groans.

"If it makes you feel any better I told you quite a bit myself," Yang loses her enthusiasm and turns away from Duncan. "Stuff I wished you remember and others I'm glad you forgot."

Duncan looks over at her. "Look on the upside you probably have a lot of dirt on me now."

Yang laughs and looks back at him. "You have no idea."

"Exactly what did I tell you?"

"Let's see," she lists off. "That you're from another world, you got here by accidentally flying through a hole in the sky, you're of sorts royalty. Guess I hit the jackpot in that department. Oh, and you're not really a Faunus. And so, so much more."

"Please tell me I didn't tell you anything embarrassing?"

The Brawler smirks. "Does telling me how your parents…" she pauses and gestures to all of him. "…nine months later!"

"Aw, man! I told you that!?"

"You did. I don't know why, but you did," she chuckles seeing the hybrids humiliation. "If it's any consolation, that's something I wished I didn't remember."

Duncan sighs, "I guess that makes me feel a little better. Is there anything else I need to know about last night?"

"Just that Junior never has to worry about seeing either of us at his club again," she raises her hand to reveal a remote and turns the small tv on.

"Last night, the popular establishment known as Junior's was burned down," the news report says. "We asked the owner about what happened, and this is what he had to say."

"I'll tell you what happened. I obviously made the wrong career choice. I'm done with this city, with this kingdom. I'm moving back home where my mother can tell me that she was right. I should've been a lawyer."

With a click, Yang turned the tv off.

Duncan has no idea how long they sat there before asking, "Was that me or you?"

Yang only answers, "Yes!" and the two sat in silence moments more before she asks, "You think he'd represent us?"

NOTE: I enjoy puns, so I find Yang to be hilarious. But I have a hard time coming up with them on the spot. So, Yang Xiao Long was kinda hard to write dialogue for as you cannot have Yang and not have jokes and puns. I think the only kind of dialogue that would like even less than this would be for ones that rhymes all the time.
