AN: Before I get into the chapter, I want to apologize for not updating! I've been dealing with family issues, because that's sooo fun. And I'm not on any social media platforms, but in the near future, I might get onto some social media, and when I do, I'll put it up on my profile! Enjoy the chapter!
Chapter 2
Bella's Point Of View
I don't know how much time has passed.
It feels like years, but it's probably only been days in agonizing pain. As much as I really wanted to become a vampire, I really wasn't looking forward to the pain. I try to keep as still as I can, and I'm trying to keep my face slack, so that I wouldn't cause my angel, Edward, any pain by seeing me in pain. I know that if I thrash and scream in pain as much as I want to, he'll start regretting his decision, because he doesn't want to be the cause of any pain that I endure if I endure any pain at all.
The pain is starting to numb, and I can actually slightly move without my body screaming out in even more pain than it already is. I let out an involuntary groan. I squint my eyes, opening them slightly. The light is blinding, so I close them back up immediately. I ease my eyes open, slower than I did before, trying to get my eyes to adjust.
When I open my eyes all the way, it's so weird, because I can see all of the dust particles in the air, and all the veins on the leaves of the plants that are across Edward's giant room. It's so amazing! It's like my vision has multiplied by like a thousand!
I bring my hand to my face, seeing that it's the signature vampire white. I look around the room, my eyes settling on my angel. Edward. I smile at him, carefully getting off his bed, walking towards him. His smile is so big, he might just crack his face. He wraps his arms around me and says, "I didn't know you could get anymore gorgeous." He kissed my lips, very passionately I might add.
I reluctantly pull away, wanting to see my beautiful daughter. "Can I see her?" I ask Edward, knowing that he knows who I'm talking about. He smiles a little and says, "You should probably hunt first. I know that you would never hurt our daughter, but Carlisle wants to make sure that Renesmee is 100 percent safe, and nobody wants to risk her safety. And me, I don't want your throat to be burning like hell while you're meeting your daughter for the first time," he said, wrapping his arms around my waist.
He smiles, kissing me lightly on the lips. I smile, and stare directly in his eyes. "Let's go hunting," he says, taking my hand and leading me towards the window. He lets go of my hand, and jumps out of the window. He looks up at me, and gives me a slight nod.
I step back a few steps, then I run and jump out the window as well. While I'm flying towards the ground, Edward reaches his hands out, and catches me in mid-air. We stood there for a minute, just staring at each other, wrapped up in each other's arms.
He smiles at me one last time, before racing into the woods, leaving me in the dust. I stand there, not knowing what to do before I sprint in the direction he went in. I lost sight of him, so I followed his scent, hoping it would lead me to him.
I ran for two more minutes, following his scent, and I finally saw him standing still with his back facing me. I was going too fast for me to stop without crashing into him, so I sent both of us flying into the air.
He somehow caught onto my waist in the air, and shielded me from hitting the tree we were about to crash into. The wood groaned from the impact, but miraculously still stood.
Edward gently set me down, and started laughing like a madman. When he finally calmed down he said, "You truly are amazing, Mrs. Cullen. You're probably the second fastest in the family right now. If I had that head start if I was with Jasper or Emmett, it would probably take them five minutes to catch up, while it took you two minutes! You are amazing!" He wrapped his arms around my waist, and brought his lips to meet mine.
I instinctively wrap my arms around his neck, tangling my hands into his unruly hair. We're like that for five more minutes, before Edward pulls away, smiling down at me.
"We should probably get you something to drink," he said, kissing me on the forehead. "We could try and find some elk for you, then if you're still thirsty after, we can find something else. Does that sound good?" He asked. I nod, grabbing his hand.
He starts running, slower than before so that he could still hold my hand, and we run to the east for three miles. He eases into a stop, and holds his finger to his lips, signaling me to be quiet. He points to the north, and behind a bush, I see the ears of an elk.
There was a gust of wind, and I smelled something delicious. I look over at Edward, and it seems that he smells it too. Judging by his horrified face, it's not the elk that smells this good.
Edward was moving his arms to wrap around me, but before he could, I started sprinting towards the delicious smell. I was sprinting faster than I was earlier, and I got to the source of the smell in under a minute.
I hid behind a rock, and I looked at the human, and it was a male. He looked lost. He was looking around, and had a map in his hands. I couldn't see his face, until he turned around, looking behind the rock I was hiding behind.
When I saw his face, I felt like I was going to throw up. It was Mike Newton! As thirsty as I was, I couldn't eat one of my friends! I'm not going to become that monster that Edward always says that vampires are.
I looked one last time at Mike, and I got turned around, running in the opposite direction. It felt like I was the rope in a tug of war game. Half of my body wanted to satisfy the thirst, and the other part wanted me to keep my dignity and vampiric-purity.
I was running significantly slower than I was when I was running towards Mike. It felt like I was carrying a trillion pounds that wanted me to turn around and eat my friend.
I felt a hand wrap around the crook of my arm, and I stiffened immediately. I turned around, ready to fight whoever it was, but I instantly relaxed when I saw it was Edward. He had a look of astonishment on his face.
"H-ho-how did you do that? Run away from a human as a newborn vampire? And how is that human still living? He should have been dead minutes ago!" He asked. His voice was rising ever so slightly, not in a yelling sort of way, but as in a way of trying to get answers out of me.
"I saw who the human was, and it was Mike. I just wouldn't be able to live with myself if I ate one of my friends, no matter how annoying he was."
Edward looked like someone just gave him the world's hardest test as a third grader. He looked so confused! "That shouldn't be possible! I don't think any newborn vampire has ever done that. They would all kill the human, no matter who it was.
"I just stopped and thought about what would happen to me if I killed one of my friends. The guilt would eat at me forever!" I said. I don't understand why this is such a big deal. Sure, it was difficult for me to run away, but I still did it. And I'm sure that I'm not the only newborn that has ever done that. Edward is probably just trying to make me feel special like always.
"Can we talk about this later so I can get something to drink? My throat is killing me," I said, trying to change the subject. Edward seemed to notice.
"Fine, but we're going to discuss this with the family later. Come on, the elk should still be there." He grabbed my hand and started running back to where we were before.
The elk was indeed still there, eating grass. Two others have joined it as well. I looked at Edward, silently asking him if I could go and attack them. He nodded at me, and at that moment, I tackled the first elk. It didn't put up much of a fight before I sunk my teeth into its neck.
Warm, fresh blood filled my mouth, and I started drinking out of the elk. When it was all dried up, I tackled the other elk. Again, it didn't put up much of a fight, but slightly more than the other one. I bit into it again and started drinking.
When I drank all the blood out of it, my throat was no longer burning. I don't think I could finish the other elk, so I let Edward get the last one. I sat down on a fallen tree that was nearby, waiting for Edward to finish.
He was done rather quickly, and he sat next to me. "Can I meet Renesmee now? I've been dying to meet her!" I said. Edward smiled at me and took my hand. We started running towards the house. It took a short amount of time, probably five minutes, since we were going at a slower pace.
We stopped at the front porch, standing in silence looking at each other for one last second before Edward opened the door for me so I could finally meet the daughter I practically died for.
