An: The confrontation with the Volturi doesn't come until later (Foreshadowing)

Chapter 3

Bella's Point of View

It's now my time to meet the daughter I died for. I'm over the moon! I can't wait! But of course, Edward had to open the door at a human pace while my unbeaten heart was about to explode out of my chest.

He could see me jumping up and down, and I know. I probably look like Alice when there's a new sale at one of the random stores she goes to. Edward grabbed my hand, and again, walked at a human speed towards the family room.

I was about to explode with excitement! I want to meet my daughter now! Going at a human pace seems so slow now that you can go at unearthly speeds.

We enter the family room, and I see everyone, including Jacob. That's really surprising! Usually he waits until I'm already here to come over, if he comes over at all. They all have their backs facing us, and I see in Esme's hands, bronze hair. Edward's hair. Renesmee's hair.

They all turn around, except for Esme. Alice comes over to give me a hug.

"OMG BELLA! You're sooo pretty! I mean… not like you weren't pretty before, but uhh-"

I cut her off. "I know what you mean Alice." She gives me another hug before saying, "Are you ready to meet your daughter?" I smile, and nod eagerly.

Esme finally turns around. Then I see her.

Her eyes are closed, and her head is on Esme's shoulder. I guess she's sleeping.

She has Edward's bronze hair, and my curls. She has my heart shaped face, and his nose and jaw. "She also has your eyes, Love," Edward said, wrapping his arms around my waist.

Esme comes closer to me, slowly putting Renesmee in a position to where she can easily hand her to me. I held out my arms, letting her place my daughter in them.

But that's where it all went wrong.

As soon as Esme put her in my arms, she started screaming at the top of her lungs, tears gushing out of her eyes. It was like she was in pain.

But I don't know how. I wasn't doing anything to hurt her. Edward seemed to sense my confusion, and took Renesmee out of my arms.

And that seemed to do the trick. As soon as she was out of my arms, and into his, her cries stopped almost immediately. Edward waited until she was calm for a couple more seconds, before trying to place her back into my arms.

Again, the same thing happened. As soon as she made contact with my skin, she started crying, just as loudly and as heartbreaking as before. This time Esme took her out of my arms, and like she did with Edward, her cries stopped immediately.

I looked around the room, and saw that everyone was looking sad for me. My eyes stopped in Rosalie, because I noticed something strange. There was something about the way she gave me a small smile that seemed… off.

But I brushed it off. She probably feels bad because she can hold Renesmee and I can't.

But here I am, a vampire mother that her daughter hates. I'm probably the only person on earth with this problem. No, I am the only person on earth with this problem.

So many bad things have happened to me, and the one time I thought that I could be happy with my little family, something went wrong. Like my daughter hating me. No, hating me seems too light. She practically despises me!

"Hey Love, why don't we go for a run?" Edward tried to get me out of this room as soon as possible. I noticed I was shaking, so he probably thought that I was going to pounce on my daughter.

But no. My shaking wasn't from thirst.

It was from pain. The pain of not having my only daughter love me. The pain of hearing her cry when she touched me. The pain of me sitting alone for eternity, because Edward would probably leave me for someone that my daughter can tolerate.

Soon, the pain became too much, and I sank to my knees, curling up into a ball, racking back and forth, trying to settle the pain.

Jasper felt it too, because a few seconds later, he was in the same position, with Alice trying to comfort him.

Edward picked me up, and ran me away from the house. He ran towards our meadow, with me, still curled into a ball in his arms.
