3 weeks later Sunday, "ACHOOO," Graham turns around.
"Are you feeling ok honey?"
"No, I think, achoo, that I am coming down with something."
"Do we have any cold medicine?"
"We do not."
"I can go pick some up. Is there any comfort food I can pick up?"
All stuffed up Ace replies, "I never really had anything, I had to take care of myself when I was sick as a kid except when I had the chickenpox, and the few times I caught a cold while on the TARDIS."
"Well you now have a fiancé who is looking forward to making one of his promises to cherish in sickness and health."
"I am looking forward to that."
"I am going to pick up a few things, first check the fridge. Do you want anything?"
"Just the blanket and a few tissues." He grabs the tissues and pulls the blanket up to her chin and kisses her forehead.
"I'll be back soon, I love you."
"You too," with that Graham leaves the house after making sure they had a few things first. After he comes back he makes a sarnie for Ace. Going upstairs he sees that she is asleep, he puts two pills next to her on the nightstand. He goes back down and picks up a book to read. Finding he can't focus right on the book he turns on the tv. A few hours later Ace comes down. "What are you watching?"
"Something that doesn't matter if I can't focus."
"Why can't you focus?"
"Thinking about you, speaking of that, why are you out of bed?"
"I wasn't comfortable." Graham pats the spot next to him and she sits down with her head in his lap, and he starts to run his hand through her hair.
"Did you take the medicine next to your bedside?"
"Mhmmm." Before he knows it she is asleep again. He wants to get up but he looks down and doesn't want to wake her up. He tries to think of things that would help him hold the urge to use the bathroom. About 20 minutes later, "Graham is everything ok?"
"Sometime after you fell back asleep, I had to use the bathroom. I didn't want to wake you up, so I have been holding it in."
Ace gets up, "go to the bathroom." Graham heads to the bathroom.
"So Ace," she groans.
"I am sick, Professor."
"I just wanted to say congratulations. This is the first time you have been alone since you got engaged."
"Thank you, now can you go?"
"I just wish I could've introduced you two 10 years ago."
"How did you?"
"I visited you in my 7th body while you were asleep."
"I didn't dream that?" Ace remembers the time that she was so sick to the point she was nearly hospitalized.
"No, I wish I had a way to contact Tegan and Nyssa then, but I didn't."
"It's just a cold now Professor."
"You also have someone that will make sure that you are well taken care of."
"Bye Professor, thank you for caring."
"Bye." Graham walks out of the bathroom.
"I only heard your voice."
"How much of it?"
"You mentioned it is just a cold."
"10 years ago I was almost hospitalized from something that I had. No one knew about it."
"Not even Tegan and Nyssa?"
"Not even them."
"Why?"
"I didn't want anyone to worry about me."
Graham wraps his arms around Ace, "there are people that will always think about you. I am one of them."
"I know, achoo," she plays with her engagement ring.
"Ace?"
"You would think someone like me would understand that it is ok to need help, right?"
"You liked the help when dealing with unfriendly aliens, but not when doing things personally. Now you should try and sleep more honey. I know you; you want to go back to work tomorrow. I can tell you have been missing it."
"You're right, "Ace leans against Graham, feet coming up to rest under her and she falls back asleep in the comfort of her fiancé's arms.
