The rest of my third year was pretty uneventful. I passed all my exams, and Gryffindor had won the house cup, largly in part to our victory in the Quidditch cup, and aside from an owl from Sirius the ride home had been uneventful as well.

However this summer, was going to be different than the previous few. While I had no trip to Canada planned, nor was I going to spend the summer reading and hanging out with Harry, this was the Summer of the Quidditch World Cup, since they were playing in Great Britain, we were all going to go see it. While my mother understood why I wanted to go watch it, I could see she was upset I wasn't going to spend the full summer with her. I understood why. Back in Canada all we had were eachother.. And now I spent 10 months out of the year at Hogwarts learning magic, and only got 2 months with her, and now I was spending the last few weeks of August with the Weasleys. I knew she understood that I belonged to a different world than she did, but I couldn't help but feel bad. First my father abandoned her, and now I was..

She insisted on driving me to the Weasley's that Sunday morning, we were going to bring Harry but Ron had said his dad wanted to grab him himself, felt it proper with the Dursleys. My mother chose then to give me her yearly speech. "Now hunny, what are we not going to do this year?" I sighed "Anything Dangerous." She nodded "Right, and why is that?" I rolled my eyes and said "because these past 3 years I have gotten lucky." She shook her head "No, I have full faith in your magical capabilities, but your Dad was a great wizard, and he still picked a fight he could not win. Although yes.. You did luck out that Sirius Black was not a mass murderer. I always assumed he was when your father mentioned his name with a hint of fear." I nodded "Turns out it was because Sirius, Professor Lupin and Harry's dad thought dad was a traitor and would treat him as such." She nodded "Yes, so you are no longer at risk. No stones, secret chambers or mass murderers on the loose this year. You have NO reason to get yourself into trouble. Don't go searching for it okay Honey? Tell you what, I will make you a promise in turn. You don't go looking for trouble or anything dangerous this year, and next summer we will explore Great Britain, something we should have done years ago! We can even bring Harry so we can get him away from those horrible people." I grinned "Sounds good, you've got yourself a deal mom!"

We arrived at the Burrow and Mr and Mrs Weasley greeted us outside. "Nancy! Its so good to see you again!" Mrs Weasley greeted my mom. She then gave me a Hug "Hullo David dear. How about you and your mum join us for a late breakfast!" Mr Weasley nodded "Yes! I have many questions from my studies that Nancy could answer for me." My Mom smiled "I would be happy to Arthur, and in turn you can tell me more about this Quidditch my son is so excited about!" my eyes widdened and I made eye contact with Mr Weasley and shook my head slightly. I had still not told her about the Blundgers...

Once inside Ron greeted me with a bro hug "Hullo Mate! You excited! Ireland versus Bulgaria!" I grinned "Of course! Maybe I can pick up on some cool moves to use this year!" That was when George and Fred came down the steps "That's right Dave! You have a reputation for last minute super plays to uphold!" Mrs Weasley beamed "Fred and George are on the Gryffindor Quidditch team as well! They are their Beaters." my Mom smiled "Oh really, what do Beaters do exactly?" The twins each threw and arm around me and said "Well we make sure your son here doesn't get bloodied up too badly from those blundgers... can't get em all though, so you might want to appreciate his face when it still looks this pretty" Fred grabbed my cheeks and gave a squeeze. I broke away and groaned "Guys... I hadn't told her about the Blundgers for a reason!" My mother gave me a disapproving look. "So Quidditch is dangerous!" That was when Ginny came down the steps and saved me by saying "Not the way David plays it Ms Shuter, he's bloody brilliant!" I chuckled nervously.

My mother stared at me a little longer before changing the subject with a slight pull at her lips "Is Hermione here? I know David is dying to see her" I sighed, blushing slightly. Smart move mom.. Smart move. Ginny said "I'll be right back, she was just finishing getting ready." She ran back up the stairs, passing what had to be Charlie and Bill. "How's it going David? No more illegal Dragons I hope!" Charlie greeted me with a hand shake. I chuckled nervously "No Charlie, technically that was Hagrid's dragon.. Not mine." I side glanced at my mom, who mouthed "dragons? Seriously?" I nodded solemnly. Bill also shook my hand "Nice to finally meet you David! Ron has told me so much about you, is it true you can perform a perfect Disillusionment charm?" I nodded and smiled proudly. He smiled back "fancy wand work like that, and you might have a future as a curse breaker.. I can put in a good word" I chuckled.

That was when Hermione came down the stairs and I had to admit, I stared. She looked gorgeous. She had grown into her teeth, and had much more of a figure on her. Being 14 suited her very well.. She grinned when she saw me and hurried forward and hugged me tightly "David! How have you been?" I hugged her back "Hermione" was all I murmured, no knowing what else to say and just enjoying the contact. She pulled back after a while as Mrs Weasley said "Time to eat!"

Over breakfast my mother and Mr and Mrs Weasley chatted happily, sharing stories about their respective worlds. Ron, Charlie, Bill, Fred, George, Ginny and I chatted away about Quidditch, while Hermione listened, but I could tell she was completely lost. Percy was also there.. But he ate quickly and hurried back up to his room to work. Once we were done Ron, Fred and George helped me move my stuff out of our car and up to Ron's room. After that was done it was time to bid my mom farewell.

Before hugging me she pointed to the pots and pans and stuff cleaning themselves and said to Mrs Weasley "If you could do me a huge favor Molly, can you teach my son how to do that spell, it would be a life saver." Mrs Weasley grinned "Once he turns 17 and can do magic outside of school, I will be more than happy to teach him all the house keeping spells I know. Something Hogwarts doesn't really focus on unfortunately. But don't worry Nancy, we will take good care of David and get him to the Hogwarts Express safely." My mother nodded her head with a smile "I know you will. Thank you for an amazing breakfast and the small look into wizarding life. I'm Happy David is where he belongs.. He was always the odd kid out back in Canada. I'm glad he has finally got friends like your children." Mr Weasley nodded "our Ronald sure knows how to pick friends that is for sure. Have a safe drive back Nancy. We simply must meet up again, I have so many more questions! We shall send you an Owl!" I grinned, happy my mom and Ron's parents got along so well.

Mom then hugged me saying "Remember the promise. Quidditch excluded! Study!" She then whispered "Hermione seemed very happy to see you, so stop being a chicken and ask her out already! Channel your fathers bravery like you have in the past!" I groaned "Mooooooooommm" She laughed and pull back "You know I'm right! Send Zeus to me often! Update me! I love you my amazing boy." I blushed at her words and said "I love you too mom." She then got in our car and left.

We spent the day sitting and talking about quidditch, Bill and Charlie recounting stories from their travels to do with their jobs as well. Harry arrived that evening for dinner, which was quite the fanfare. Since there was more food than breakfast we ate in the gardens. We got to watch Bill and Charlie make tables fight with their wands, and have amazing discussions with eachother. The Weasleys may not have had much possession wise, but they had a very rich relationship with eachother. I was honored to be able to witness it. Shortly after dinner we headed to bed since we had to wake up early the next morning.

I saw the glint of the snitch, and unfortunately Diggory had too. I then yelled "Harry! Harry Behind you!" I then saw him turn and dive for the snitch. I couldn't help but think if he had my Firebolt instead of his Nimbus he would have easily beat Diggory to the snitch. However as soon as I thought that I found myself getting cold.. Colder than before.. A different kind of cold... I then heard it "You should know.. I have taken measures to never die, and killing Harry Potter shall seal it! Goodbye Ernest Moore.. Such a waste of pure Magical blood... AVADA KADAVRA!" I squeezed my eyes shut and could swear I could see the flash of green light "No... No.. Not again.. DAD!"

I woke with a start to Mrs Weasley standing over me. "I'm sorry David dear, it's time to wake up, are you okay? You were thrashing in your sleep." I nodded sleepily "Yes Mrs Weasley I'm okay, just the same bad dream again." She nodded "If you are sure dear. Breakfast is in 10." She then left. Ron's room was cramped with the 5 of us in it, (Fred and George were bunking with us since Bill and Charlie were in their room), but we managed to get dressed in a timely manner. I had been having that dream a lot the past month. Well variations of it. Sometimes it was the same dream I had on the plane to england, sometimes it was when the dementors were near me like the one I just had. Perhaps ever since I had learned how much like my father I actually was.. And how much he sacrificed.. It brought up a lot of feelings about him.

I went through Breakfast in a haze, really only being half awake. I was so out of it I wasn't sure what we ate. I was luckily Mrs Weasley knew of my peanut allergy otherwise I could have been in serious trouble. I only really was able to take in the rant from Mrs Weasley on the Ton-tongue toffee to the Twins. I had to admit, a joke shop made sense for the two of them, but what did I know, all I could really think about was going back to bed.

Soon we had our bags on our backs and were on a hike towards this 'portkey' we were going to use to make it to the moor the Quidditch World Cup was taking place in. I ended up spending most of the trip trailing behind Hermione, kind of in a daze, just following her, not really paying attention to where I was going. However I came out of my daze when Hermione began panting and clutching her side. "Hey Hermione, give me your bag." I said as I walked up beside her. She looked at me "No no it's okay David, I can make it" I shook my head "You aren't going to enjoy the game if you are keeled over from a hernia or something. Now come on, hand it over." I held my hand out, she smiled slightly "Are you sure?" I smirked "Doctors orders." She giggled and handed it to me saying "Thank you David, I owe you." I struggled but attached the bag to my front and continued on our way.

Now because of the extra weight I arrived last to hill the portkey was on. I handed Hermione's bag back to her. When then began to search for the Portkey. Which lead to us meeting Amos Diggory, Cedric Diggory's father, the Hufflepuff Quidditch captain that beat us on our match against them a year ago. Amos and Mr Weasley exchanged some pleasentries until Amos asked "are these all yours?" I rolled my eyes as Mr Weasley said "only the red haired ones. The rest are my son Ron's friends, the brown haired boy is David Shuter, The girl is Hermione Granger, and the black haired boy is Harry Potter" Amos' eyes widened "Harry Potter? Ced's told me all about you of course, played you last year at Quidditch, I said, beating Harry Potter, that will be something to tell your kids about." I sighed, Amos was a bit excentric.. Too much for my liking. Cedric reddened and said "he fell off his broom dad" Amos smiled "but you didn't, it doesn't take a genius to work out who the better flier is" I couldn't bite my tongue any longer, I said "yeah, that would be me" Fred and George chuckled, Cedric even flashed a small smile "I can't deny that, you are one hell of a chaser. That move you used at the end of your match against Slytherin last year, was brilliant! How did you come up with it?" I shrugged "mostly panic.. A touch of Muggle sports knowledge." But I had to admit, Cedric didn't seem that bad.

We finally found the portkey, and with in seconds, we were transported to a deserted misty moor, where two wizards stood. They gave us our field, and we were on our way again. When we got to the first field, we parted with the Diggorys. "See you at school" Cedric said, I gave him a nod, then turned to the muggle, Mr Roberts. Mr Weasley told him our reservations, then turned to Harry and me as he pulled out a wad of muggle money, begging for help. I chuckled "don't ask me, 4 years later, and Euro's still confuse me, give me Canadian money any day." Harry then sighed and started to help Mr Weasley.

Once Harry and Mr Weasley figured out our rental fee, we made our way to the area that we had rented to pitch our tents. Now since we could not do it by magic, Mr Weasley relied on the combined efforts of myself, Harry and Hermione to figure it out. Luckily I had camped a few times with my old best friend Robert, so I had a relative idea of where the poles went.

It took half an hour to get both tents set up, by the time we were done I was exhausted, the hike while carrying two packs had taken it out of me. Now I was in much better shape than I had been when I came to this country, but I was no body builder, plus I was functioning on a few hours sleep. So I was barely surprised when I walked into the tent and found it much bigger on the inside, with furniture and an oven. Made sense that Wizards were miles ahead of Muggles when it came to camping comfort. However due to the fact we were supposed to be hiding the fact we were magical, we still needed to do things the Muggle way, so Mr Weasley sent Ron, Harry, Hermione and I out to get some water.

We got to see many of our Hogwarts friends on the walk to the water tap, plus we ran into a bunch of strangers, seeing as everyone who noticed Harry's scar wanted to talk to the Boy who Lived. Ron, Hermione and I did our best to shoo them off, but it was hard since they tended to not notice us, eyes only for Harry. "You know, we should really get you some contacts and a hat or something Harry, I'm sure it would make your life so much easier." I said after we had shooed away the latest fan. He nodded and said "That would be appreciated mate"

We got our water and returned to the tent where Hermione helped Mr Weasley start the fire. That was when Percy, Bill and Charlie arrived, having just apperated in (Which Percy boasted about) and we had our breakfast of sausage and egg. Ludo Bagman made an appearance and joined us for a brew. Mr Weasley introduced us all again, and Ludo seemed surprised to see Harry, but did not bat an eyelash at Hermione or me, which figured. We weren't famous. She may have been the brightest witch of our age, and I was..well.. Me, but we could not compare to the great Harry Potter.

After some bets took place on the match (I didn't join in since I doubted Mom would be too thrilled I was betting my life savings on a silly sport) and Barty Crouch joined us, and even let slip that something big was happening at Hogwarts this year, which lead to a small sigh from me. "And here I just wanted a normal year at Hogwarts." I muttered. Ron overheard me and grinned "Wouldn't be Hogwarts without some strange happenings now would it? I wonder, are we doing inter-school Quidditch this year? The Cup winners compete for an ultimate cup of some sort?" He turned around to ask his Dad. Harry then said "Doubt it, Wood is no longer at Hogwarts.. We would need a new Keeper!" Fred then asked "So What's Happening at Hogwarts Dad?" Mr Weasley merely smiled "You'll see" Percy then added pompously "It's classified information, until such time as the Ministry decides to disclose it" George then shot back "Oh shut up Weathersby" I laughed.

That Afternoon we decided to visit the salesmen to get some souvenirs. One of the first things I bought was a shamrock hat for Harry, and passed it over to him "That should solve half your problem, expect the other half for Christmas" He chuckled and put it on "Thanks!" this helped a little when it came to people adoring him. I also bought a small toy snitch, which hovered and would dart side to side, but wouldn't fly away. Harry then bought all of us Omnioculars to watch the game with.

Before long it was time for the match to begin. We hiked through the forest together, laughing and joking merrily, until we finally saw the pitch. Now this pitch put the Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch to shame.. It was huge, apparently built to seat A Hundred THOUSAND. Hogwart's pitch wasn't even build to sit 1 thousand. When we got to the entrence the greeting witch saw our tickets and informed us they were the best in the house and that we had to climb all the way to the top. My feet, which were already sore from being on them most of the day, screamed in protest as we climbed what had to be the one Hundred thousand steps Mr Weasley had to have actually meant earlier.

Once at the top we found the Minister for Magic with some foreign dignitaries. He greeted Harry like an old friend, and seemed to quickly glance over me, probably remembering me from before the summer ended pleading for Sirius's life. We were 'graced' with the presence of the Mafloy's joining us in the top booth. I gave Malfoy a glare, remembering how he had almost been responsible for Buckbeak's death last year. However we did not exchange words, I was personally afraid I could not keep it polite in front of the Minister for Magic.

Luckily that was when the match began, starting with the two teams mascots. The Bulgarian ones were Veela.. My mind went blank and all I could do was stare, enjoying the dance. I wanted to bad to join them that I actually stood up, that was until Hermione pulled me down, looking disappointed in me "Honestly." She huffed. I blushed and looked away, the spell the Veela had over me now broken because Hermione was disappointed in me. Ireland followed up with a firework show, and then leprechauns who formed a shamrock and flew over the crowd.

Bagman introduced each team and soon the game was off. I couldn't believe my eyes, it was Quidditch as I had never seen it played before.. Everything happened so fast I could barely keep track of it. Chasers were passing the quaffle and scoring faster than Bagman could even say their names. "There goes my dreams to play Quidditch professionally" I groaned. Compared to these guys, we played Quidditch in slow motion at Hogwarts. Mr Weasley looked at me and said "Don't give up hope, you are only about to start your fourth year! They have been playing Quidditch for years!" Hermione then added "Plus you have a whole world of career paths open to you with your skills David.." Both seemed distracted though, watching the game.

My Omnioculars began listing some of the plays the Chasers were doing, and I made sure to memorize them, as they could come in handy this year to keeping our title as the Quidditch Cup holders. I had to admit this was way more exciting than when I spectated our matches in first year. Ireland was easily the better team, since they took such a large lead early in the game. Not a half an hour had passed when they were 160 points ahead. It looked like it was a clean sweep for them, until Krum saw the Snitch and dove. "What is he doing?! They need to get a few more points before they can win!" I yelled. However he obviously did not hear me and caught the snitch. Ireland won 170-160. Harry then said "He knew they were never going to catch up, Ireland's chasers were too good. He wanted to end it on his own terms." Hermione watched him land and said "He was very brave wasn't he?" My hand curled into a fist, suddenly filled with hatred for Krum. We then got to watch the Quidditch World Cup handed off to the Ireland team, and it was all over. Done in less than an hour.

We returned to our tents for a spot of tea, and then I decided I wanted a lie down. I was exhausted from the day, and we had to make the whole trip over again the next morning. I elected to sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag since I actually enjoyed camping.. And it also didn't seem fair to kick a Weasley out of their bed when they had been so kind to me already. I felt like I had just fallen asleep to the sound of the Irish partying when Mr Weasley shook me awake "Get up! Get up! This is urgent!" I groaned and sat up "You know, I like you guys and all.. But if I keep getting woken up like this I'm going to snap my wand and go back to being a muggle." I said grumpily. Mr Weasley didn't laugh "Get a coat on and get outside. Hurry!" He didn't look excited, but more fearful.

Once outside I saw what he meant. People were running, screaming.. And Muggles were levitated high in the air upside down.. One I recognized as Mr Roberts. I was suddenly filled with anger, wishing I was some hero from my books able to stop whoever was doing this and save the muggles.. I then remembered.. I could be. I was a Wizard after all. I pulled out my wand but Mr Weasley gave me a look "No! You are still too young. Bill, Charlie, Percy and I will go help the Ministry. Go hide the forest, I will come grab you when its safe." I pursed my lips, but had to agree when I saw who was behind the commotion, men in masks and dark robes. Yeah there was no way I could duel them and live, so Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Fred, George and I took off into the forest at a run, trying to avoid being trampled.

We didn't make it far until Ron tripped over a tree root and fell. Hermione said breathlessly "Oh this is stupid. Lumos!" She had pulled out her wand and ignited the tip with light. I followed suite and pulled out my own, whispering "Lumos" my wand tip ignited as well. Ron got up and did the same. Harry went to pull out his wand and panicked "My wand! I must have dropped it!" We then began to look for it on the ground when a drawling voice said "I wouldn't dilly dally about, they are after muggles after all." I whipped around and saw Draco casually leaning against a tree. "None of us are Muggles" I said cooly. Malfoy glanced at Hermione "Granger is a Mudblood.. That is the same thing." he said with a smirk. Harry then snarled "Hermione is a witch." However I pointed my wand at Malfoy and growled "shut your mouth, or I will shut it for you!" Hermione grabbed my arm and said "Ignore him, its not worth it" Mafloy snickered "Listen to your girlfriend Shuter, it would be such a travesty if you were expelled from school.. What would the Gryffindor Quidditch team do?" I snarled back "I don't need magic to hurt you Malfoy." My free hand balling into a fist, myself trying to remember my old Martial Arts training.

Malfoy ignored me and listened to the screams 'They scare easily don't they. I suppose your father told you to run and hide Weasley, he's probably out there trying to save the Muggles." Harry then shot back "I don't need to ask where Your parents are, out under those masks are they?" Mafloy simply smiled "Now if they were, I'd hardly tell you Potter!" Hermione then pulled me back said "Come on, we'd better get a move on" Malfoy yelled out as we left "Keep that bushy head down Granger!" I turned to go back for him but Hermione grabbed my hand "Not. Worth. It. David. Now come on! Oh no.. we've lost the others" Had it not been for Hermione holding my hand I probably would have still gone back and punched Malfoy in the face, but I liked it so I went with it.

We ran into some girls from Beauxbatons and some random wizards trying to impress a Veela, but we didn't engage too much with them. We even saw Winky, the house elf of Mr Crouch we had noticed earlier in the top box, trying to run away but fighting against the orders of Mr Crouch to stay in the tent. Once we were far enough in we sat down on the ground to wait it out.

We talked about if Mr Weasley caught Mr Malfoy in one of the masks, and it made us happier.. Until we heard someone not far off. Harry called out "Who's there?" We all stood up and I pointed my wand at where we had heard the scuffle. Suddenly a voice called out "MORSMORDRE!" then a ghostly skull with a snake coming out of the mouth appeared in the sky. Screams around us intensified. Hermione became panicked "We've got to go Harry.. MOVE!" Harry still called out "Who's there?" Hermione began to pull Harry's arm "Whats the matter?" Hermione then moaned "Thats the Dark Mark. You-Know-Who's mark!" I looked at her "Voldemort's mark? Seriously?" I felt a chill in my bones. Voldemort could be here?

That was when 20 witches and wizards aperated around us with wands pointed at us and chanted "STUPIFY!" Harry yelled "DUCK!" We all dropped to our knees, myself yelling "PROTEGO!" this creating a small shield around us, most of the spells missed us, but one would have hit us if not for my quick thinking. That was when a voice yelled "STOP! STOP! THAT'S MY SON!" Mr Weasley came to our rescue. He asked "Ron.. Harry.. David.. Hermione.. Are you all alright?" I nodded shakily, never having been attacked like that before. A curt voice said "Out of the way Arthur."

Mr Crouch came forward, looking raving mad "Which one of you did it? Which one of you conjured the mark?" Harry looked confused "We didn't do that!" Ron rubbed his elbow "We didn't do anything, what did ya want to attack us for?" Mr Crouch spat "You have been found at the scene of the crime!" I then said "You think One of us conjured the Dark Mark? You think HARRY POTTER conjured VOLDEMORT's mark? Or one of us?! Hermione and I grew up as muggle's, we couldn't have been one of those nutters under the mask! Hell they probably want ME dead. You're raving mad" I was partially terrified, fully mad. I was tired of people thinking me as bad because my dad had been a Death Eater under Dumbledore's orders. Everyone of course winced at me using Voldemort's name, but then Mr Weasley asked calmly "Where did the mark come from?" We pointed to over where we heard the voice.

They found nothing but Winky, holding Harry's wand. This lead to quite the interesting turn of events. Amos Diggory ended up accusing both Harry and Mr Crouch of conjuring the dark mark. Despite coming to the conclusion that Winky was not responsible for conjuring the mark, Mr Crouch still dismissed her, much to her dismay. Due to lack of proof any of US did it, Mr Weasley took us back to our tent. Hermione was distraught over Winky and the treatment of house elves.. And I had to agree with her. It was wrong what Wizards did to them, despite it being hard wired into their species to serve. After much debate on who or why the dark mark was cast, we all ended up settling in for bed.

The rest of the summer went by super quickly, we played some Qudditch in the Weasley's fields to pass the time, which I was super happy to do, since it meant I could get a little practice in before the new year started. However before we knew it we were waking up on the morning of September 1st. Mr Weasley had to leave early due to having to smooth things over for some famous Old Auror, Mad Eye Moody, which meant poor Mrs Weasley was left having to organize everything for our trip to Kings Cross. Luckily she had Bill and Charlie to help her. She got A bunch of Muggle Taxi's to take us since the Ministry couldn't provide cars for us again. Unfortunately this meant we couldn't talk about Hogwarts at all on the ride which meant conversation was at a minimum.

Once we had gotten to Kings Cross we each took turns to go through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. When we were all on the other side we said our Goodbyes. Charlie then said "I may be seeing you sooner than you think." Fred asked "Why?" Charlie shook his head "You'll see, just don't tell Percy I mentioned it, it's 'classified information until such time as the Ministry sees fit to release it' after all" Bill looked longingly at the train "Yeah, I sort of wish I was back at Hogwarts this year?" George then asked impatiently "But Why?!" Bill then smirked "You are going to have an interesting year, I may even take some time off to come and watch a bit of it" Ron then asked "A bit of what?" The train then wistled, letting everyone know it was about it leave.

Hermione turned to Mrs Weasley "Thanks for everything Mrs Weasley." She hugged her. I then added "Yeah, thanks for having us Mrs Weasley, I loved being able to do something magical with my summer break" I hugged her as well. Harry also expressed his thanks. Mrs Weasley said "It was my pleasure dears. I'd invite you all for Christmas, however I'd expect you all will want to stay at Hogwarts with.. One thing or another.." I then even stepped in and asked "What do you all know that we don't?" She shook her head "I expect Professor Dumbledore will tell you all tonight! Be good!" We then got on the train and it left for Hogwarts.

We spent the trip speculating what the elder Weasley's had been talking about. I for one stuck by my previous idea of a inter-school Qudditch cup, which lead to the subject of other wizarding schools and where they could be. These conversation ended up taking up the whole trip as each idea got wilder which lead to more debate. Apparently Ron was not aware our school was bewitched so Muggle's couldn't see it unless they actually entered the grounds, and I was once again reminded that Hermione and I were the only ones who actually opened books.

Near the end of the trip Malfoy and his goons showed up and began to, make fun of Ron's Hand-me-down dress Robes that his mother had bought him (She had used my money to pick me up some lavish crimson dress robes) He then asked "So are you going to enter Weasley? I hear there is money involved.. You'd be able to buy some decent robes for one." Ron snapped back "What are you talking about?" Malfoy then sneered at me "I don't need to ask you Shuter, You'd be too afraid." I rolled my eyes "I faced a Werewolf and lived, and you soil your pants at the thought of one. Try again Malfoy." Malfoy's fist clenched, but he then turned to Harry and said "I don't need to ask if you will enter Potter, you never miss a chance to show off." Hermione looked over the book she was reading to say "Either tell us what you are on about Malfoy, or leave."

Malfoy looked shocked "You mean you don't know? I would have thought... your father and Brother are in the Ministry Weasley! Of course they probably do not associate with the same high officials my father does, perhaps your father is too junior to know.." Ron got up and slammed the door to our compartment shut. Hermione pulled out her wand and said "Reparo" repairing the glass. "My dad could get a promotion any time, he just likes were he is.." Ron muttered angrily. Hermione then said soothingly "Of course he is. Don't let Malfoy get in your head." I nodded in agreement.

When we got to the castle we all sat impatiently waiting for the first years to be sorted, as we were all starving and looking forward to the grand welcome feast Hogwarts threw every year. The sorting took forever, but luckily when it was done Dumbledore himself stood up and said "I have two words for you all... DIG IN!" And the food all appeared. We began chowing down.

That was until Nearly Headless Nick let slip that House Elves worked in the castle, where Hermione then stopped eating in protest to elven slavery. I was torn, since I was hungry, but then I begrudgingly put my food down too, muttering "I need to loose some weight anyways." Hermione gave me a smile which made it all worth it. Soon the feast was over and Dumbledore stood up and began his speech with the usual, forest being out of bounds.. List of stuff not allowed by Flich.. Then he dropped the bombshell "It is my painful duty to inform you that the inter-house Quidditch cup will not take place this year." My jaw dropped and Harry and I looked at eachother in horror "What?!" we yelled. It was a good thing Wood wasn't here anymore or else he would have lead a riot.

Dumbledore continued "This is due to an event starting in Ocotober and continuing until the end of the school year which will take up much of the teacher's time and effort. It is my pleasure to inform you that this year Hogwarts will be-" He was cut off by a roar of thunder and a man standing in the doorway. "May I introduced our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Professor Moody" The man was rugged, used a walking staff, and had a magic eye attached to his head.. It appeared it was Mad Eye Moody, the friend Mr Weasley had rushed off to help this morning. "We're getting an ex-Auror as a Defense against the dark arts professor? Dumbledore may have one upped Lupin this year." I whispered to Hermione. She nodded slowly, looking impressed.

Dumbledore continued "As I was saying, this year Hogwarts will be the setting of the return of the TriWizard Tournament!" Everyone looked shocked, my eyes widened myself, as I had read about it. "You're Joking!" Fred yelled loudly. Dumbledore chuckled and said "I can assure you Mr Weasley.. I am not joking, however I did hear a good joke over the summer about... well now may not be the time.." He then explained what the Tournament was, and how they had made an amendment to the rules to only allow 17 year old's and up to participate. He cautioned against trying to hoodwink the impartial judge as he was going to ensure no one could. He also informed us students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang would be staying with us for the duration of the Tournament.

After he dust had settled from that major revelation, we all headed up to bed, discussing whether we were going to try to enter. I for one shook my head at the idea "You heard Dumbledore, there will be measures in place to ensure we can't enter. Besides.. I HAVE to honor my promise to my mother this year.. And a deadly competition is the exact opposite of not doing anything dangerous." Ron then said "Come onnnn, with your disillusionment charm and magical skills you could do it!" But I shook my head again "No Ron, I just want a normal year where for once we don't do anything stupid." And that ended the conversation. However it appeared this year at Hogwarts would be anything but normal.

AN: I know it has been a while since I have done one of these and a lot has happened. You probably have also noticed I do skip over many events in the book, and that is mostly due to not wanting the reader to grow bored re-reading Harry Potter where David has no real part in it. My Chapters should also be coming out faster now and I basically have most of David's 4th year already written from my previous series, and now I just have to touch it up and add what is needed. As always, don't forget to R&R, helps me know I do have readers out there!
