Chapter 3: The master and The Inquisitor
Lothal three days ago, 14 years since the rise of the empire
"What are you afraid of Jason?" Jason saw a vision of his old Master while he meditate, he was standing in an area back on the planet where they hid from the empire
"I joined a crew, they're nice but it's been a while since I try to form a bond with someone," Jason explained, and the older master look at him with a pity smile
"You're afraid because the last bond you made ended up dying, is that right?" Ren said and Jason nodded as he took a seat on the floor
"Yes, I miss you, old master," Jason said and then grew a face of confusion "How is it that I can see you?" Jason asked in confusion
"Because I'm not real, I am a product the force created based on your memories," Ren told Jason and the teenager sighed in defeat
"I think I knew that, still in my mind I'd hope you were real," Jason said and Ren chuckle
"I'm as real as you want me to be, but enough of that," Ren said as he look directly at Jason's eyes "Let's get back at what we were talking about," Ren said, and Jason tilted his head in curiosity
"You want to talk about my fears?" Jason asked in confusion and the older male nodded
"Remember what I told you before we parted ways?" Ren asked rhetorically and Jason nodded
"You told me to not be afraid and to try to form bonds with people," Jason repeated the words his master had given him that awful day
"Exactly, so why are you afraid?" Ren asked in curiosity and Jason looked at his hands
"I don't know, I know fear is not the Jedi way but I´m afraid of getting attached and losing them as I lost you," Jason said in sadness and Ren walked forward and put a hand on top of Jason's right shoulder
"Death is not the final step, you don't need to be afraid of that," Ren said, and Jason look up to stare at his master's eyes "But something you can do is training," Ren said and Jason looked at him in confusion
"Train?" Jason asked confused and Ren nodded as he stood up and looked at the distance
Jason stood up also and look at where his master was looking "There's danger on the horizon, the longer your team keeps facing the empire, the more enemies you will face," Ren said, and Jason didn't take his eyes off the horizon
"Then I'll better get ready for it then," Jason said and his old master smiled at the conviction Jason was showing
"I can't wait to see it, stay safe Jason, and remember," Ren said as he started to disappear
"Fear is not the Jedi way," Jason whispered as he opened his eyes and exited his meditating state, he was in his room on the ship seated in the middle of it as he was taking his morning meditation
He stood up as he grabbed his black shirt from a nearby crate and looked around the room, his eyes rested on the new cartoon that Sabine had drawn
"She really nailed it," Jason said out loud laughing at the cartoonish picture of Zeb and Ezra, he then look to his right and smiled when he saw the painting Sabine had made of him
In this picture he was seating, fixing some weapon Sabine had told him to, with his tattooed arm facing forward and he had a smile on his face while he was working
He passed his hand through the drawing and then decided to exit the room, he went into the cockpit where he found Hera and decided to ask her about the whereabouts of the rest of the team
"Hey captain," Jason said entering the cockpit and Hera turn to look at him
"Hi Jason, what can I do for you?" Hera said with a smile on her face and Jason took a seat next to her
"Just reporting for duty, and wondering where everyone is," Jason stated, and Hera nodded in understanding
"Well, Kanan took Zeb, Ezra, and Chopper for a supply run and Sabine is working on something on the cargo bay," Hera said
"Do you need help with something?" Jason wondered and Hera shook her head no
"Not really, everything is being taken care of," Hera said, and Jason nodded
"Well then, I'm going to train a little, if you need me contact me on the coms," Jason said and Hera nodded as she saw Jason heading down into the cargo bay
"Hey," Sabine said as she saw Jason climbing down the ladder and stop loading some spray paints on a crate
"Hey, what are you doing?" Jason asked in curiosity as he saw the crate Sabine was putting the spray paints on
"A personal project, wanna come, and see?" Sabine asked with a smile on her face and Jason nodded
"I was going to train, but I can take a detour and join you," Jason said as Sabine's smile grew wider and told Jason to grab a crate of spray paint
Jason made sure to correctly attach his lightsabers and crouch down to grab the crate of spray paints and follow Sabine
She had put her helmet on and with a crate in her own hands she led Jason into the outside "Did I tell you what our resident idiots did the other day?" Sabine asked without looking at Jason
"By idiots, I figure you're talking about Zeb and Ezra, am I right?" Jason asked rhetorically and Sabine nodded
"Exactly, so get this, the two decided to steal a TIE fighter and rescue a bunch of Lothal workers," Sabine said, and Jason laughed out loud
"That seems like a hell of a day, where was I when all of this happened?" Jason asked and Sabine shrugged her shoulders
"I think you were on your supply run and just missed it," Sabine said, and Jason sighed
"So that's why you made a drawing of them," Jason stated, and Sabine nodded
"I believe I really capture their dumbness," Sabine said sarcastically and Jason chuckle at that statement
"I also saw my painting," Jason said as Sabine stopped and looked at him
"What do you think?" Sabine asked in curiosity as Nate thought for a second
"I love it," Jason said and then decided to elaborate "I love the way you place my tattoo and that you decided to put me working on some tech, it feels real, you are really talented," Jason remarked, and Sabine let a smile out under her helmet so Jason couldn't see it
"Well then prepare to see my upon coming masterwork of art," Sabine said as they walked around some rock formations and Jason's eyes winded when he saw a half-painted TIE fighter hiding behind the rock formations
"Holy fuck, what is this?" Jason asked in shock and Sabine looked at him
"Instead of destroying it like they were supposed to, Ezra and Zeb hid the ship here, and Ezra gave it to me," Sabine said, and Jason almost let out a grumble of jealousness "Is that jealousness I see?" Sabine asked cheekily and Jason grumble
"It's not jealousness, shut up," Nate grumble as he quickly turns away from the stare of Sabine and the girl let out a chuckle at the sight "Where do you want this?" Jason asked bringing the attention of the girl to the crate
"Leave it there next to the ship," Sabine said pointing at the place where Sabine wanted the crate placed at
"Okay then," Jason said putting down the crate and then taking a few steps away from the ship and taking a knee on the ground to prepare mentally for the training "I'll be training over here, if you need anything just shout my name," Jason said as he lights up one of his sabers and started to place himself into form two of light saber combat training
He started doing the basic stances of form two as he put the word on his side facing down, he then grabbed the sword on the top side and put it forward bending it to the right he then move his hand inward making the sword face straight forward
He then started imagining some blows coming down on him and blocking them as he thrust the sword forward and repeat the process
He did these for a while, while Sabine stared at him now and then in amazement and confusion as she had never seen that kind of training before
Jason then with his left hand grabbed the other saber and put the other one on his belt and with that saber, he started to practice form 5
He put the sword forward facing the ground horizontally and started doing the basic stances of that form
He faked an uppercut and changed to a lower cut as he imagine a target in front of him and repeated this attack for a while
He kept faking his attacks and changing the real ones, mid stance as that was the process of that form, fake his enemies and attack where they didn't expect it
He finished repeating this form as he took out his other saber with his right hand and put both swords facing the ground
Force started to crusade on his hands as he shifted into form 7 and started attacking aggressively at the air, doing flips and bigger swings at an imaginary enemy, this process was shorter
This form in the eyes of Sabine seemed more powerful and stronger than the rest, and that was because this form was the epitome of aggressiveness in the Jedi way, a form not used by many but those who used it were the ones in the unknown, the sentinels
Jason stopped his attacks as he turn off his lightsabers and he took a seat on the floor to take a breather
He then saw a big rock in front of him and decided to try and meditate and lift the rock as long as he could
The rock lifted from the ground and Jason hold it there for a while until he heard a beeping coming from his pants, he open his eyes and gently let the rock down as he grabbed the coms and pressed it to hear the incoming transmission
"Hera? What's up?" Jason said bringing the coms close to his face
"Hey, Jason is Sabine there with you?" Hera asked, and Jason could hear the curiosity in the captain's voice
"Yes, she is, what do you need from us?" Jason asked
"Kanan and the others came back, we could use a hand unloading the supplies into the ship," Hera said over the coms and Jason nodded
"We'll get back to the ship," Jason said ending the conversation and turning towards Sabine "You heard that?" Jason asked the Mandalorian girl, and she nodded as she climbed back down from the ship
"Yep, I heard let's get going then," Sabine said, and Jason took a moment to admire the almost completely painted ship
"It's coming along nicely," Jason said as he saw Sabine putting the spray paints on the crates
"Thanks, mind giving me a hand?" Sabine said pointing at the other crate Jason nodded and he made sure to put his sabers on his belt
He put his right hand forward and with the force he levitate one of the crates towards him, he grab it with both his hands and started leading the way towards the ship
"Cheater," Sabine said as she had to crouch down to grab the crate from the floor
Jason just chuckle as they walk towards the ship in a comfortable silence and, once they arrived at the Ghost, they saw bigger crates surrounding the area
"How much did those three buy?" Jason whispered rhetorically and continue walking toward the ship
"Sabine, Jason those crates are yours," Kanan said as he pointed at two crates, the teens nodded and started inspecting the crates
The crates had the regular type of supplies, weapons, dismantle technology for Jason to use, and some spare clothes
Jason was looking through the dismantled tech parts and felt someone put a hand on his right shoulder, he look up and saw Kanan there with a concerned look on his face
"Jason, can we talk for a second?" Kanan asked and Jason glanced for a second at Sabine, the girl nodded, and Jason stood up
"What can I do for you, boss?" Jason asked and Kanan lead him to the outside of the ship
"I'm going to start training Ezra," Kanan stated, and Jason looked at him in curiosity "I want you to be there to help me," Kanan said, and Jason nodded
"I'm guessing you want to teach him the basics before making him a padawan," Jason said in curiosity and Kanan nodded
"Exactly, so can I count on your help?" Kanan asked as they stared at the ship
"Sure, so what do have planned for him?" Jason asked in curiosity as Kanan looked to the top of the ship with a smile
Present day, Lothal, 14 years since the rise of the empire
"I got to say, I have never seen this kind of training before," Jason remarked as he saw Ezra standing upside down on the top of the ship
"Focus," Kanan said as he sated at Ezra "Focus on letting go," he said as Jadon stared intently at Ezra
"Letting go?" Ezra asked sarcastically "Rather hold on if you don't mind," Ezra said with a cheeky smile and Jason held down his chuckle
"Enough jokes focus," Kanan ordered, and Ezra frown
"I'm trying to," Ezra said in annoyance
"Do or do not, there is no try," Kanan said and Jason chuckle as he recognized those words
"How can I do something if I don't try it?" Ezra asked in confusion and Kanan thought for a moment
"Well see…" Kanan said thinking for a second before sighing "I actually don't know, but master Yoda used to say it a lot," Kanan said and then he glanced at Jason
"You're focusing on trying not to fall, focus on staying there, be in the moment," Jason said and Kanan smiled and nodded
"Yes exactly," Kanan said until Kanan and Jason heard a yawn coming from their right
"I really thought this Jedi stuff would be more exciting," Zeb said standing from where he was seated "No wonder the old religion died," Zeb said and Jason throw him an angry look
"Be careful of what you say, Zeb," Jason warned, and Zeb looked at him in confusion "You of all people should know why our religion died," Jason said in anger and Zeb scratched his head in an apologizing manner but then walked to Ezra with a smile on his face
"Come on kid do something, amuse me," Zeb said shaking the platform where Ezra was making him fall on his back "Use the force," Zeb said while laughing and Jason shook his head and walk forward to help Ezra get up
"Does he have to be here?" Ezra asked in annoyance pointing at Zeb and the Lasat just laughed at him
"He's annoying but there will always be distractions," Kanan said looking at the distance "You'll need to learn to focus through them," Kanan said as he looked down at his saber "Here let's try something else," Kanan said, and Jason looked at him in confusion
"Are you sure about this?" Jason asked as he took a seat where Ezra was earlier
"Sure about what?" Ezra asked in confusion as Kanan handed him his lightsaber "Wow, when do I get my own?" Ezra asked and turned when he heard Jason chuckle
"Patience dude, you'll need to learn how to walk before you can run," Jason said chuckling, and Kanan put a hand on Ezra's right shoulder
"He's right beside, having a laser sword doesn't make you a Jedi," Kanan said and Ezra frowned
"Gets me closer," he said lighting the sword and almost hitting Kanan
"Careful," Kanan said as he stood back and walk around Ezra "There's a control on the side that lets you adjust the size of the blade to your height," Kanan said, and Ezra made the sword a little shorter
"I think it should be a little shorter," Zeb said, and Jason punch his arm and told him to shut up, the Lasat grumbled and stared at Ezra who was frowning at him
"Okay, stand there and close your eyes," Kanan said as Zeb brought a crate of junk and put it next to Chopper
"Ready?" Kanan asked and Ezra nodded "Let him have it Chopper," He said as the robot started throwing the junk at Ezra and the boy was trying, unsuccessfully, to block the attacks Chopper was sending them
"Try and focus on the junk instead of trying to block at random," Jason offered as he winced when another piece of junk hit Ezra in the head "Feel the force, it will tell you where the object is," Jason said but it was of no use as Ezra kept swinging in the air
"Be precise," Kanan said as another piece of junk hit Ezra "Keep the blade up," he kept throwing advice but Ezra seem to not hear them
"That's its kid," Zeb mocked as he kept pouring more trash into Chopper "Use your body to slow down the trash," Zeb said laughing and Jason sighed in frustration
"Ignore him and focus," Kanan said as he saw another piece of junk hitting Ezra in the face
Then Chopper started throwing a lot of junk toward Ezra making him back away, and one of the junk hit him straight into the face and made him lose his balance and fall from the ship
"Kid!" Zeb exclaimed as the rest of them saw how Ezra fell from the ship
"Jason, Zeb go to the cargo bay and stay ready," Kanan said as he move forward, Jason didn't think it twice and walked straight into the cargo area
The ship move towards where Ezra was falling as Kanan catches him with the force, Zeb stood next to the door as Jason saw Ezra floating in the air, and he took over for Kanan as he levitate Ezra into the air, and Zeb managed to grab the right hand of Ezra and bring him forward
The both of them tumble down as Jason let out a sigh, then they heard Chopper laughing at Ezra behind them as he threw another piece of junk at him
The trio climbed up the ladder into the main hall Jason leading them, the red-haired cross eyes with Kanan and signaling Ezra with his eyes, and continue walking to the dining area where he found Sabine messing with the hollo net
"What are you doing?" Jason asked as he took a sit next to Sabine, she was going to answer but the rest of the team entered the area, so she decided to hold her answer
"Kanan," Ezra said entering the main hall, but Sabine shush him off
"You made the hollo net," Sabine said as Hera turned down the lights and the team started listening into the broadcast
"The stolen TIE fighter was later used as means of attack towards a cargo full of innocent workers," The empire's broadcaster said and Zeb grumble under his breath
"That's a load of crap, we set them free!" He exclaimed as the broadcast change
"Citizens, this is Senator-in-exile Gall Trayvis speaking," The team heard the broadcaster say as the image changed into a picture of a middle-aged man wearing orange clothes "I bring more news that the empire doesn't want you to hear," The senator said over the broadcast and Ezra looked at Hera in confusion
"What's a Gall Trayvis?" Ezra asked and Jason chuckled at the lack of respect Ezra had shown
"The only member of the Imperial Senate with the courage to speak out publicly against the Empire," Hera stated, and Jason looked at the image with a frown on his face
"Something seems off," Jason thought as the team focused back on the broadcast
"One of the republics' finest peace-keepers Jedi Master Luminara Unduli, is alive," The senator said as the broadcast changed into an image of two stormtroopers escorting a green-skin female with black dots on her face
"She has been imprisoned unlawfully somewhere in the Stygeon system," The senator said as the broadcast changed back into the image of the senator "We as citizens, demand the emperor to produce Master Unduli and give her a fair trial before the Sen…" The senator said as the broadcast was cut off into the Imperial broadcast
"Marking another successful planet liberation, utilizing the Beta Delta Zero initiative," The empires broadcaster said as Sabine turn off the broadcast
Ezra noticed the looks Jason and Kanan were giving the hollo and couldn't help to ask
"Did you guys know her?" Ezra asked in curiosity and both Jedis nodded
"Not personally, she was a member of the council, I remember glimpses of her," Jason said and Kanan took over
"I met her once," Kanan said passing a hand through his chin "She was a great master, passionate, brave, compassionate, and disciplined, in fact, she's an excellent teacher for you," Kanan said making Ezra frown a thing only Jason noticed
"They were always rumors saying that she survived the clone wars, but they never came with a specific location before," Kanan mused out loud before looking at Hera "We can't pass this up," Kanan said and the T'wilek smiled
"I was hoping you said that," Hera said putting a hand on Kanan's shoulders and walking towards the cockpit
"The rest of you, prep for an op," Kanan ordered as he follow Hera into the cockpit
Zeb and Sabine quickly exited the area leaving Jason, Chopper, and Ezra in the dining area
"Heard that? He's done with me," Ezra said not realizing Jason hadn't moved from his spot "He's gonna pawn me off to a stranger," Ezra mumbled but Jason heard him and frown
"I think he just wants the best for you," Jason stated, and Ezra realized that Jason had stayed there "It is difficult to teach, especially when you had hidden that part of you for a long time," Jason stated, and Ezra took a seat next to him
"Is it my fault? I don't want to leave you guys," Ezra said, and Jason put a hand on Ezra's shoulder
"I don't think that's going to happen, Hera wouldn't let it happen," Jason said and then he grabbed a nearby piece of tech and put it on the table
"Now I am not a teacher, I will never be, but that doesn't mean I can't give you some pointers," Jason said as they started at the tech in the middle of the table and Jason put a hand next to the tech
"Between the tech and my hand, what can you see?" Jason asked rhetorically and Ezra looked at him in confusion
"There's nothing there," Ezra said with a tone of confusion in his voice
"To the naked eye, that may seem so, but don't let your eyes deceive you, there is something there, the force," Jason said as he concentrated and with his hand, he started levitating the piece of tech
"Wow," Ezra whispered in amazement and Jason put down the piece of tech back to the table
"Think of it like an invisible string that's attached to the thing in front of your hand has, and with enough focus," Jason said focusing on the piece of tech "You can grab the string and do things like this," Jason said as the piece of technology move rapidly into Jason's hand
"Wow, how can I do that?" Ezra asked and Jason smiled as he put back the piece of tech in the middle of the table
"With patience and focus, the only thing your mind has to think about is moving the piece of technology," Jason said as he stood up from his chair
"I don't expect you to do what I did just now today, but if you can move it an inch, that's progress," Jason said as he started exiting the dining area "I'm going to get ready for the mission, let me know how you did," Jason said as he exited the area and went to his room
Sometime later cockpit of the ghost
"What do you have for us, Sabine?" Kanan asked as the team looked at the resident Mandalorian
Chopper move forward and put a hologram of the prison as Jason and Ezra stood behind everyone their backs leaning on the doors "Welcome to the Spire on Stygeon Prime the only Imperial detainment facility of the Stygeon system," Sabine said, and Jason let out a whistle of appreciation
"Wow, look at the thing, say what you want about the empire, but they know how to build prisons," Jason said sarcastically
"And also, it's impregnable," Sabine remarked and Kanan looked at her
"That's never stopped us before," Kanan said, and Sabine sighed
"Trust me," she said, "We have never faced something like this before," She said and Jason remarked something
"At least we have the numbers if things don't go as planned," Jason remarked, and Sabine nodded signaling that she was agreeing with Jason
"Ignoring that, this is a real work of art," Sabine said looking at the map of the prison with amazement "Blast proof, ray shielded, protected by anti-weapons TIE fighters and short- and long-range scanners," Sabine listed off the protection things of the prison
"We can fool the scanners," Hera said as Jason stared intently at the hologram
"And that will just leave the army of troopers waiting for us," Jason said sarcastically, and Sabine nodded
"Exactly and even if we manage to enter, the tough part will be getting out," Sabine said "Cause, you know, because it is a prison," she remarked, and Ezra looked at the map
"What about going low and sneaking into the platform," Ezra said and Sabine shook her head no but before she could give an answer Jason beat her to it
"The area is too open, I bet it will be heavily guarded and ready for any kind of attacks," Jason said looking at the platform and Sabine nodded
"He's right, it's impossible to get in or out that way," Sabine said then Kanan speak up
"Here," He said signaling another type of entry "There's only room for a couple of guards," he said as the team looked at the area he was pointing
"We take them out, make our way into the upper-level isolations cells, free Luminara, and come back the way we came from," Kanan said, and Sabine looked at him with a raised eyebrow
"Yeah, you'd have to be crazy to try that lousy plan," Sabine said
"Let's hope the empire thinks so too," Kanan said, and Jason let out a chuckle
"I'm getting the feeling that every plan with you guys is a crazy one," Jason remarked as Sabine lead the team into the phantom
Sometime later
Jason had decided to meditate inside the Phantom as they prepare for the incoming rescue mission, he was seated next to Sabine as the ship separated itself from the Ghost leaving Chopper behind
Jason with his eyes close cracked his shoulders and he placed his hands on top of his blades to get the feeling of familiarity cursing through his veins, he opened his eyes as he saw the curious look Ezra was giving Kanan as he and Jason stood up and face the door
"How many guards do you think there will be?" Kanan asked Jason and the red-haired teen frowned for a moment
"At least two, one in the right and one in the left," Jason said and Kanan nodded his head
"I take the one of the left, you take the other one, the rest of you stick to the plan," Kanan said without looking at the team
"30 seconds guys, good luck," Hera said, and Zeb look at her
"Luck? We're going to need a miracle," Zeb grumbles and Sabine turns to look at him
"How about three," she said presenting him with three bombs in her hands Zeb and Ezra smiled as each one of them grabbed a bomb and hide it away
"Try to stay focused," Kanan said who was watching closely at Ezra
"I thought there was no try," Ezra said and Kanan let out a sigh in defeat and Jason chuckled as he crack his neck side to side in preparation for the fight
The gate of the ship opened and just as Jason predicted two troopers were guarding the area, Jason glanced at Kanan and both men nodded at each other as they jumped and landed in the middle of the guards silently
Ezra looked in awe at how Jason and Kanan took care of the stormtroopers and knock them out cold, with a feeling that he could mimic the other two Jedis, jumped ahead of schedule and while Kanan and Jason shared a smile of a job well done they heard Ezra falling into the area
"Simple but effective," Jason whispered as he put out the way one of the troopers
"Yeah, nice and quite-like," he said but was interrupted when he heard the screaming of Ezra coming down and saw the kid fell to the area and crashed into the door
"Jesus fucking Christ," Jason mumbled as he stood back, and the rest of the team look at the scene from the ship
"What just happened? You were supposed to exit with Zeb," Kanan reminded as they looked at the door intently "You're lucky every single storm trooper doesn't know we're here," Kanan said and Jason heard the door of the prison opening
"Great you jinxed us," Jason said as the door opened revealing four stormtroopers standing there, Jason and Kanan quickly with the use of force stole the troopers' guns and Jason moved forward as Zeb and Sabine exited the ship
Jason grabbed the head of a trooper and with all his might pushed him down knocking him out cold in the process, he turned around and saw the team dealing with the rest, once that was taken care of Kanan grabbed Ezra by the shoulder
"Stunts like that put us all in jeopardy," Kanan reprimanded and Jason started unlocking the door but he was listening to the conversation between Kanan and Ezra "This exactly why you need Master Luminara to teach you discipline," Kanan said and before things could escalate Jason meddle in
"Sorry to interrupt but time is of the essence," Jason said as he stood up from the floor "We need the kid to unlock the door," Jason said deciding to let the kid have his moment and forget about the situation
Ezra smiled and brought up a device to unlock the door and started working on it, Jason then decided to put a stormtrooper against the wall while Zeb did the same on the other side
"Ezra," Kanan rushed to the kid and him with a smile and without looking answer
"Quiet, I´m focusing," Ezra said cheekily, and Jason shook his head in annoyance
"Just do it, quit the sarcasm," Jason said as he look around the area for anything of importance "Hera managed to hide?" Jason asked Kanan and the leader of the crew took out the com's device
"Specter 2?" Kanan asked over the coms and received a response quickly
"All set," Hera responded and then Ezra managed to open the door "Good luck," The captain of the ghost said, and the crew enter the prison
The crew walked forward Jason leading the charge and Kanan joined him up front while shoving Ezra out of the way
"Do you feel that?" Jason asked and Kanan nodded while he close his eyes
"Luminara is here, I feel her presence, but is clouded," Kanan said looking at Jason in concern and the red-haired teen scratched his chin in worry
"I have a bad feeling about this," Jason said and looked at Zeb and Sabine with a worried look on his face "Have you ever faced an enemy with a red lightsaber?" Jason asked the crew and everyone shook their head
"Okay then, I hope we don't face one today, but with that clouded feeling, I won't take any chances, so may I give some orders?" Jason asked the leader of the crew
"Go ahead," Kanan said scanning the area ahead of the hallway
"Okay, so if you see an enemy with a red lightsaber, run, do not shoot him or her, and I can't emphasize this enough," Jason said putting his hands in front of him "Do not try to fight them up close," Jason explained, and Sabine nodded
"Why not?" Zeb asked in curiosity and Jason glanced at him
"Because you will die," Jason said as Sabine took control of the elevator
"Jason's right, let's just get Luminara out of here before we get spotted," Kanan said as he looked at Sabine "Where is she?" Kanan asked and Sabine looked back at him
"Detention block cell," Sabine said looking at the info from the elevator "Isolation cell 0169," she said and Kanan frowned
"Bad news?" Jason asked confused by the expression that Kanan adopted
"They have isolation cells?" Kanan asked rhetorically as he hit the buttons of the elevator "We planned with outdated schematics," Kanan said and Zeb looked at him in curiosity
"Which means?" Zeb asked in confusion and Kanan glanced back at him
"It means that the plan changes," Kanan said
"You have a backup plan?" Zeb retorted and Kanan shook his head
"Working on one right now," Kanan said making Jason sighed
"I don't like the sound of that," he mumble and Kanan looked at the crew in full seriousness
"Zeb, Sabine you're coming along," Kanan said and the Mandalorian girl nodded while the Lasat looked at their leader in confusion
"Weren't we supposed to hold our escape route here?" Zeb asked in confusion while the rest of the crew enter the turbo lift
"The turbo lift is our escape route now," Kanan said as the Lasat sighed in defeat "Get in now," Kanan ordered, and Zeb entered the turbo lift
The team fell into an uncomfortable silence which was broken by a remark from Sabine "His plans get worse all the time," Sabine said and Ezra looked at him in curiosity
"Just hoped he doesn't change it again," Zeb remarked also and Kanan got annoyed
"I'm standing right here," Kanan remarked and the other two without looking at him responded
"We know," They said and Jason let out a small chuckle but stopped when that same feeling from before came back
The lift came to a stop and Jason and Kanan who were at the front ready themselves, the doors of the lift opened and two stormtroopers were standing their ground
Each Jedi grabbed a trooper and brought him towards the lift and knock them out cold, Kanan and Jason exited the lift first and the leader of the crew gave his orders without looking at the rest of the members
"Maintain comm silence," Kanan said and the Mandalorian and the Lasat nodded as they look how Ezra exited the lift "And whatever you do, hold this lift," Kanan said, and Jason glanced back at them
"Stay safe guys," Jason said his eyes lingering for a moment on Sabine as the other two nodded
Jason catches up whit Ezra and Kanan as two stormtroopers walk into Kanan's vision he, using the force, pulled the stormtroopers towards him and put his arms up pointing to the necks of the troopers and knocking them out cold in an instant
"Wow, you're not messing around," Ezra remarked and Kanan glanced at him
"There's much at stake here than you realize," Kanan said as Jason put a hand on Kanan's shoulder
"There's no time to waste, and I recommend that you build up your saber, just in case," Jason said and Kanan nodded as he started to form his saber and Jason let Kanan lead the charge
They turn right into the hallway and saw two troopers guarding a cell block and Kanan took charge "Shouldn't you be guarding the Jedi cell?" Kanan said putting a hand forward "It's on the next level," Kanan said while Ezra looked at him in amazement
"It's on the next level," One of the troopers repeated
"You better get going," Kanan said and the troopers repeated his words as they exited the area and made their way to the next level
"Nice work captain," Jason said as he started messing whit the cell lock to try to open it
"When do I learn that?" Ezra asked excited and Kanan shove him to the side and stood behind Jason
"Luminara will teach you," Kanan said as he drew a sigh and then spoke in whispers "Much better than I could," he said and Jason managed to open the door
They entered the cell and saw master Luminara sitting in the middle of the cell block "Is that her?" Ezra asked her and only Kanan answer him because Jason had started grabbing his head as a small headache invaded him
"Yes, but something is off," Kanan said as the master stood up from where she was seated and put herself in front of Kanan, then she walk to her left and the others saw a tomb there as Master Luminara faded into the tomb and Jason and the others winded when they saw Luminara's bones there
"What happened to her?" Ezra asked out loud and Jason turned to the entrance of the cell as he felt a presence approaching them "I don't understand," Ezra said and Kanan and Ezra turned when they heard a chuckle coming from the entrance of the cell
"No? It doesn't seem that complicated," A white male with red painting on his face, and bright red and yellow eyes said as he looked at the trio of people in the cell "Greetings, I'm the Grand Inquisitor," The figure said, and Jason's right hand went slowly towards his sabers
"Welcome," The Grand Inquisitor said as his eyes rested on Jason for a moment and then glanced at the other two "Am afraid Master Luminara died with the Republic, but her bones still serve a purpose," The Grand Inquisitor said as Jason cursed mentally
"There is not much ground to fight in here, we need to get out quickly," Jason thought as his eyes were scanning the area very quickly
"Luring the last Jedis into their ends," The Grand Inquisitor said with a smile on his face
"Specter 3!" Ezra said nervously as he took out the comms device "Come in, is a trap!" Ezra tried to warn the others but the only thing that came back was static
"There are no reinforcements coming," The Grand Inquisitor explained as Jason lit one of his sabers and went forward as he slash down his saber
The Grand Inquisitor lit up his own red saber and block the attack of Jason and looked closely at the saber that Jason was using
"I recognize this saber, how is Master Ren?" The Grand Inquisitor asked mockingly, and Jason frowned
The red-haired teen separated from the Inquisitor and slash at the side of his enemy, the Inquisitor blocked the attack and slashed at the left side of Jason, Jason quickly blocked it but that's what the Inquisitor wanted as he kicked the stomach of Jason and send him backward and hit his head on the wall
Kanan lit up his saber too and slash forward clashing swords whit the Inquisitor and trading blows with him
The Inquisitor attacked back and neither of them gained any ground as they kept locking each other's attacks, but the Inquisitor kept pushing Kanan back
"Interesting," The Inquisitor said as they got into a stalemate, and Jason shook his head trying to gain focus back again, and saw Ezra get behind the Inquisitor "It seems that you trained with Master Depa Billaba," The Inquisitor said and Kanan got confused
"How, who are you?" Kanan asked in confusion as Ezra took the bomb Sabine had given him and looked at it intently
"The temple archives are quite complete," The Inquisitor said pushing back Kanan and Jason switched with him as he slashed upwards "You two keep up whit the forms your teacher always favored in close combat," The Inquisitor said as he dodged a swing from Jason and push him back with the force
He grabbed the incoming Kanan and trip him over to where Ezra was "Cleary you both were poor students," The Inquisitor said as he blocked an attack from Ezra
"It's that all you got my boy?" The Inquisitor said and Ezra smirked
"Well, I got that," Ezra exclaimed as he pointed to the bomb, and it exploded as the doors of the cell fell off and let Jason and the others leave the area
The Inquisitor was on their toes as they turn to face him, and he lit up another part of his saber revealing a dual light saber
Kanan and Jason jumped to attack the Inquisitor with their sabers in both hands as they traded blows and dodge the attacks of the Inquisitor, but they were doing nothing as the attention of the Inquisitor was on Ezra
"Are you paying attention boy?" The Inquisitor asked as he dodged the attack of Jason and threw a swing at Kanan "The Jedi are dying, but there's another path, the dark side," The Inquisitor said
"Never heard of it," Ezra said attacking from a distance at the Inquisitor and the Inquisitor's attention went back to the other Jedi
"Have you taught him nothing?" The Inquisitor asked rhetorically, and Jason threw a side attack with all his strength
"You talk too much," Jason grumbled as he continue attacking relentlessly The Inquisitor blocked one of the attacks of Jason and send him back with the force
The Inquisitor concentrated on Kanan as he kept dodging and throwing attacks at the older Jedi and Kanan
"Do you think you can keep the boy safe?" The Inquisitor asked sarcastically as Kanan fell back and they looked at each other "For his sake, surrender," The Inquisitor said and Kanan frowned
"I'm not making any deals with you," Kanan said as Jason put himself on the right side of the older Jedi their weapons in front of them
"Then let's make him decide," The Inquisitor said as he pushed Kanan back with the force and Kanan fell to the ground hard
"Your Master cannot save you, boy," The Inquisitor said ignoring Jason for a moment "He is unfocused and undisciplined," The Inquisitor said, and Jason frowned
"Then we are perfect for each other," Ezra said and before the Inquisitor could answer his focus went back to Jason, who had jumped and swing downwards his saber with just his left hand
"I'm getting tired of being forgotten here," Jason said as The Inquisitor blocked his attack and maintained the ground
"My apologies, I'll handle you before taking the boy in," The Inquisitor said and Jason smiled and whit his right hand he grabbed his other lightsaber and slashed forwards making the Inquisitor flip back
Jason moved forward and alternate his attacks with each saber and the Inquisitor stopped his taunts
"Form 5 huh?" The Inquisitor asked rhetorically and looked at the red-haired teen in curiosity "I haven't seen much Jedis using that form," The Inquisitor said, and Jason smirked
"I´m full of surprises," Jason said as he kept trading blows with the Inquisitor
Jason thrust forward with his right saber and The Inquisitor blocked it, but Jason slashed from the left with his left saber, pushing back the Inquisitor
The Inquisitor swing horizontally at Jason and the teen Jedi arched his back dodging the swing of the Inquisitor and stood back normally, he slashed with his two sabers and kept doing combos of form 5 pushing back the Inquisitor
The Inquisitor flipped over Jason and did a thrust to the back of Jason, the teen, quickly and gracefully turn around blocking the attack of the Inquisitor in the process and push the Inquisitor to his right and struck the shoulder armor of the Inquisitor with one of his sabers
He then put himself on the back of the Inquisitor and with his two hands push forward with the force and the Inquisitor went soaring away crashing on the wall at the end of the hallway
"Wow," Ezra said in amazement as he saw how Jason had handled the Inquisitor, Jason turn around and saw Kanan getting up
"Let's get out of here," Jason said putting a hand on the right shoulder of Ezra and walked forward to help Kanan get up
The trio started running away and glanced back as they saw the Inquisitor getting up, smoke coming from the left shoulder of the Inquisitor and The Inquisitor started rotating his lightsaber
"Does yours do that?" Ezra asked Kanan and the leader of the Ghost crew just shook his head
They kept running away and then saw Sabine and Zeb at the end of the hallway, they joined them and turn to the right as they kept running away
"You figured out it was a trap?" Kanan asked Sabine and the Mandalorian girl nodded
"Yeah," Sabine said and noticed there wasn't a new member on their group "Luminara?" She asked and Kanan shook his head
"Long gone," He said as they kept running away as the inquisitor was close on their trail "New exit?" he asked, and they turn right
"Landing platform," Sabine said and Kanan frowned
"Thought it was impossible to get out from there," Kanan said, and Sabine shrugged her shoulders
"Well, let's hope the empire thinks so too," Sabine said, and Jason let out a sigh
"Why can't we have a nice, and quiet mission for once," Jason said and glanced back and saw the Inquisitor coming toward them
"Secure the facility, full lockdown," The Inquisitor said to his arm pad and Jason saw the walls of the hallway start to close up
"Shit," Jason said and jumped the closing wall and got to the other side
"Well, that can't be helpful," Ezra said as they kept running through the closing walls, and Sabine was getting ready to shoot at the Inquisitor, but Jason stopped her
"Don't, he could return the shot," Jason reminded her as Zeb prevented the last wall from closing up standing in the middle of it
"Can't do this all day," Zeb said as the team pass through the wall and got to the other side, Zeb dropped to the other side and look at the wall with a smile as it had prevented the Inquisitor from coming, but then flinched back when he saw the red lightsaber of the Inquisitor slicing through the door
The crew got to the end of the hallway and saw the entrance to the landing platform and Jason looked at the area in interest, he put a hand in the gate and felt the force in his mind
"Multiple enemies on the other side of the door, what's our plan?" Jason asked while looking at Kanan while Sabine shoot at the doors mechanism and closed the final door behind them
"We run like hell," Kanan said and Jason nodded as he got an idea and took a knee in the middle of the area and started meditating on the middle of the area
"What is he doing?" Zeb asked in annoyance and Kanan shook his head
"Don't worry about it," Kanan said and look at the device that opened the gate "Sabine can you get it open?" Kanan asked and the Mandalorian girl started messing with the device
"Shit," The Mandalorian girl exclaimed, "I'm locked out of the system, Ezra?" Sabine asked as she stood to a side and let Ezra try and open the door
Ezra tried but got electrocuted and fell to the floor, Kanan grabbed him before he could fall fully and helped him up as he lead him to the middle of the area where Jason was meditating
"Ezra come on, together," Kanan said and Ezra looked at him in confusion
"Seriously?" Ezra said looking at the massive gate in worry
"Yes," Kanan said and looked at the gate "Picture the lock mechanism on your mind," Kanan said as both of them put their hand forward
"Zeb, don't," Jason said with his eyes close and the Lasat looked at him in confusion "Let Ezra focus and get the last miracle out, we are going to need it," Jason said as Zeb took out the last bomb
Kanan and Ezra were managing to open the gate and on the other side there were a dozen stormtroopers waiting for them
Jason then quickly opened his eyes and put his hands forward as he started lifting the crates in front of him
"Zeb, now!" Jason ordered and Zeb threw the bomb and Jason pushed forwards the crates throwing them at the TIE Fighter and with the crates and the explosion they had managed to throw the TIE Fighter over the edge
Only the stormtroopers remain there shocked at what just happened, and Jason took advantage as he jumped forward and slashed two of them in one go, and then took cover as they started to shoot at him
"Specter 5 to phantom," Sabine said as he put herself next to Jason "We're on the landing deck, ready for pickup," Sabine said, and everyone heard the response
"Roger that," Everyone hear Hera say over the coms "On my way Specter 5, and I'm bringing the fleet," Hera said, and Jason looked at Sabine in confusion
"We have a fleet?" Zeb asked the question that plagued everyone, and they heard Hera chuckle
"We do now," Hera said as everyone heard the phantom approaching and Jason saw in amazement how some flying giant creatures were following the Phantom
The crew started running towards the ship while Hera shoot some cover fire and they quickly entered the ship, Jason heard the Inquisitor enter the area throwing his light saber at them
Jason blocked it and sent the light saber flying away as he entered the ship and stared intensely at the Inquisitor
The Inquisitor just grabbed his sword while using the force while he just stared back at Jason and the crew with a frown on his face
"Does yours do that?" Zeb asked Kanan unknowingly repeating the same words that Ezra had said earlier
Hera quickly took them away from there leaving a fuming Inquisitor behind
Ghost, sometime later
Jason was in his room meditating about what had just happened and saying his goodbyes to Master Luminara when he felt the presence of someone entering his room
"How are you doing?" Kanan asked as he entered the room of Sabine and Jason, and the red-haired teen opened his eyes
"It was a shock, but now I understand why there was that clouded feeling from before," Jason said as he stood up and looked at the leader of the crew in curiosity
"I came here to ask you for a favor," Kanan said as he saw the looked of confusion on Jason's face
"I figured that, so what can I do for you?" Jason asked and Kanan crossed his arms
"I want you to train me, in combat situations," Kanan said, and Jason crossed his arms also "And train Ezra too," Kanan said, and Jason raised an eyebrow
"You're dumping him on me?" Jason asked in confusion and saw Kanan shake his head
"No, he is my padawan from now on, but in combat situations, you are the best of us, so I need your help," Kanan said and Jason nodded in understanding
"Guess I can try," Jason said and Kanan chuckled
"Do or do not, there is no try," Kanan repeated his words from earlier with a chuckle and Jason let out a sigh in exasperation
"Just promise me no more imitation from Yoda, it doesn't suit you," Jason said and Kanan shoved him playfully
"Come on, we should go to the rest of the crew," Kanan said as they both exited Jason's room
