Malon, how I love the farm girl. She is probably one of my favorite female characters of the entire series. I wish she had a descendent in Twilight Princess, wait...she did. It's has been confirmed that OoT Link and Malon ended up together. Thus...Twilight Princess Link's ancestors, hehe! xD
-The Beautiful Farm Girl-
The odd trio continued their trek towards Lon Lon Ranch. Link had a thoughtful expression, as images of the farm girl entered his mind. Her dazzling blue eyes, her shimmering red strands, her bod...He suddenly frowned, trying to figure out why is felt attracted to her. Then he realized that he had always liked her. Even when they were children. Now that they were older, Link was developing real romantic feelings for her. The blush crept over his cheeks slowly. He bowed his head, hoping Navi wasn't watching him for once. His prayers were unanswered.
"Hey Link, are you feeling alright?" Navi asked, as Link felt Rinku slow down a bit. "You looked flustered. Do you have a cold?" Rinku came to a complete stop, turning his head to look at Link. Link covered his face with both hands, the tips of his ears were starting to grow red.
Rinku's eyes widen and he finally understood. Link wasn't sick, he was embarrassed. He looked at Navi, as to say, 'leave him alone.' Navi only nodding, as Link lowered his hands.
His cheeks were still pink, but his eyes sparkled. "I'm...not...sick," he mumbled out. "I..well...it's just...IthinkIhaveromanticfeelingsforMalon." He said it so fast that Navi raised a brow in confusion. Rinku, however, caught every word and gave a toothy grin to Link. Link smiled knowingly at him. "Do you approve?" Rinku gave a nod, nudging his wolf head against Link's chest. The young man laughed, scratching Rinku behind the ears. The motion caused Rinku's tail to wag and his back paw to repeatedly pound the ground. "Heh, Rinku." Rinku stopped, looking extremely happy.
Navi only grinned at them both. "Are we going to go visit Malon?" Rinku nodded, looking at Link wanting to make sure the child was hanging on tight so he wouldn't fly off. He took off, as Link held on. Link couldn't help, but watched his descendent race across Hyrule Field. He wasn't sure how he would feel if he ended up in his descendent's time period.
Rinku began to pick up the scent of horses and cows, realizing he was getting closer to the Ranch. The sun was in the middle of the sky, indicating it was only noon. Once the Ranch came into view, Rinku slowed his pace. He came to a stop, looking at Link. "That's right. The horses and cows might be scared if they see you." Rinku nodded slowly, placing his head to the ground. He removed the necklace, turning into his Hylian form. He held the necklace, placing it in his pouch.
"How do we explain our appearances to Malon?" Rinku asked, scratching the back of his head, a small smile on his lips. "I can stay here if you want me too."
Link looked at him, with blush creeping over his cheeks. "Oh..well if you think you should.." Rinku had to laugh at Link's nervousness.
Rinku swatted Link on the bum gently. "Ooh go say hi to her already." Link laughed, as Navi zipped under his hat. He waved and ran up the slope that led to the Ranch. Since Rinku was watching Link, he didn't noticed the Moblin that came up behind him. It whacked him on the back of the head, knocking him out cold. He fell to the ground with a soft thud. Then the ugly Moblin picked him up and took him to Ganondorf's Castle.
Link looked around, noticing the Ranch didn't seem to have its friendly feeling anymore. He noticed the stable on his right and knew that is where he met Ingo 7 years pryer. He opened it slowly and his eyes widen. Malon was in the stable, about to feed the horses. Navi flew around Link. "Malon?" He called out to her.
She spun around startling herself in the process. She dropped the bag of feeder to the ground. She placed a hand on her heart. "Fairy boy? Are you trying to give me a heart attack?" She joked, grinning at him. Link leaned over and picked up the bag of feeder. He made a hole in the bag and began to place it in the bucket for the horses. Malon giggled softly, watching him.
Link caught her staring, his cheeks growing warm. "What is so funny?" He asked, a grin playing along his lips.
"I just remember when you use to help me around the ranch," she mused. "You'd help me round up all the cuccos and get them into their pens. And then we'd be asked to paint the fence or something. I miss those days." Link heard the sadness, as he set down the bag. He walked over to her grabbing her hand. Malon looked up at him.
"What happened?" Link asked seriously. "You seem so sad and I don't know why. You use to be so happy." His words hit home when he noticed the tears filling up her eyes. She covered her face with her hands and began to sob. Link went over to her and wrapped her in his arms. He was so lost that he didn't even know what to say. He gently rocked her in his arms, running a hand down her back. He looked at Navi, who seemed lost in thought as well.
After a few minutes, she gently pulled away, wiping the tears from her eyes. "I'm sorry, fairy boy. But let me tell you. It started nearly 4 years ago..."
Malon wiped her forehead, as she pulled the reins of the horses. "Come on, into the stables you go." She continued to pull until she heard shouting coming from the house. She released the reins and hurried to the house.
"How could you do this?" Talon demanded at Ingo, who stared at him with a smirk on his lips. "What about my daughter?"
"Well she can stay here, but you cannot," Ingo spat at him. Malon felt her blood run cold. "Of course she can go with you, but the horses will stay."
"What's going on?" Malon intervened. The two older men turned to face the thirteen-year-old girl. She looked confused and she stared at her father. Ingo smirked at Talon, before turning to the young girl.
"An adult conversation that doesn't concern your pretty little head," Ingo's voice held sarcasm. He narrowed his eyes at Talon, who didn't say anything to what he had said. Talon's blue eyes stared at the ground and Malon grew even more clueless. She made a fist.
"I demand to know," she shouted at Ingo. The man turned to glare at the young girl who dared to yell at him.
His smirk disappeared, as a look of fury contorted his features. "Your father has been banished from the Ranch and the great Ganondorf gave it to me to do whatever I want!" Malon let out a gasp, looking at her father. He certainly looked sad and she knew she couldn't do anything to help him. "You can stay here or go with daddy. But every single horse will stay here." Malon felt her blood run cold. The horses would surely be tortured by Ingo, yet she didn't want to be alone without her father. "What is your choice? Will you stay here or go?" Ingo placed his hands on his hips, glaring at her. Talon also looked at Malon, who was staring at her father.
Malon took in a deep breath, looking at Ingo. "I will remain here," her voice was soft and controlled, although she was dying inside. She wanted to run up to her father, she wanted him reassuring her that everything will be alright, but she knew it wouldn't happen. She drew in a soft breath, staring at her father, who managed a small smile. He was glad she was staying behind to protect the horses, but it sadden him that he wouldn't be with his daughter.
Ingo's smirk returned, as he looked at Talon. "Leave now!" He ordered in a cold voice. Talon picked up his bag, looked at Malon. She ran up to her father, throwing her arms around his shoulders. Malon felt herself pull away slowly then she turned away from him. He began to walked out of the Ranch and out of Malon's life.
"He left and I have never been able to find him," she cried into Link's chest. Link pulled her close, nuzzling his face into her red strands. Malon felt this, giving a small smile and wrapping her arms around his waist. After a few minutes, she pulled away. "Sorry for crying on you like that, fairy boy."
Link shook his head, giving her hand an affectionate squeeze. "Malon, I don't mind at all. I'm always here for you." A smile graced his lips, as Malon couldn't help but give a giggle. She had always found Link very cute and now that it had been many years, he had grown into a very handsome young man. Malon leaned towards him, her lips making contact with his cheek. Link felt his cheek grow warm, as Malon pulled away. Malon was as red as her hair, glancing at Link. She also noticed how red he was, though his smile turned into an embarrassed smile.
"Was that your first kiss, fairy boy?" Malon asked, looking at him. She took a few steps towards him, stopping an inch from his face. He was about to nod, when Malon got on her toes and her lips landed on his. Link froze, before he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. He returned the kiss gently, feeling her arms wrap around his shoulders.
Navi flew around them, strangely quiet, but she was enjoying seeing Link finally reveal how he felt even if it was through a kiss.
Sheik was watching from on top of the Barn in the shadows. A hiss escaped the guide's lips, before they vanished.
'What was that all about?' Zeruda asked, after witnessing Link and Malon's moment.
'It's nothing,' Sheik retorted. 'Mind your own business.'
Zeruda frowned. 'If I didn't know any better, I'd figure you were the Princess Zelda of this time.' When Sheik didn't say anything, Zeruda felt herself gasp. 'You are Princess Zelda, aren't you?'
'Yes,' came a muffled reply.
'You care about him,' Zeruda commented. It was more like a statement that a question. She knew she struck a cord.
Sheik straightened himself up, not saying or thinking anything. Sheik just made his way to Death Mountain Crater, lost in thought.
Link broke the kiss, giving the red head a smile that made her melt. He kept his arms wrapped around her.
'He is so cute,' she thought.
Suddenly the barn door opened loudly. Navi zipped into Link's cap, as Ingo came in. He saw Link and sneered. "Who are you? What are you doing?" He noticed Link's arms around Malon. He glared at Malon. "Bringing your boyfriend here and striking your duties? Do you want to starve tonight again?" Link felt his stomach constricted painfully for her. Ingo was starving her? He didn't say anything, watching Malon grew slightly pale.
"He isn't my boyfriend, Ingo," she mumbled. She was finishing up feeding the horses.
Ingo walked up to her. "What was that missy?"
She looked at him directly. "He isn't my boyfriend, sir" she forced herself through clenched teeth.
He glared at Link. "Well since you are here, how about doing a favor or two? If you do, I'll give you a free meal." Link narrowed his eyes, but nodded. He didn't want to cause Malon any trouble. "Great, you know the fence around the Ranch?" Link raised a brow and nodded. "I need that painted.
Malon gasped, looking at Ingo. "But that can take days if not weeks. Are you serious? You are not making him do such a task."
"Then you better help him," Ingo retorted. He turned to leave, shutting the door behind him.
Malon looked at Link. "You don't have to do this. I can handle it."
"No Malon," Link stated, looking at her with seriousness. "I can handle this. Besides my friend Rinku can help me out. You worry about the horses, okay?"
Malon raised a brow. "A wolf is going to help you?" Link nodded with a smile. "I am guessing he didn't come because the cows and horses might get scared of him." Link nodded again, his smile widen. "Okay." She pointed to a corner that have several buckets of paint. "That's the paint he wants to use." She also walked over to a chest, opening it. She withdrew a pair of overalls and a flannel. "Change, we wouldn't want your clothes getting covered in paint."
Link excused himself and hid in a stall and changed quickly. Malon kept busy, making sure the horses were eating. "Okay." Malon turned to the sound of his voice and was absolutely speechless. He changed out of his characteristic green tunic into the overalls and flannel that Malon provided. He looked ruggedly handsome and Malon felt her breath escape her. He was just so handsome that it sent a shiver of electricity down her spine.. He looked so muscular to her.
"Wow," she breathed. "You look...I mean...good." Link's expression was one of puzzlement. He tweaked his head, staring at Malon. She catch herself staring at him again. Link walked over to her, placing his hands on her shoulders.
"Malon," he began, but was cut off when she decided to kiss him again. Link wrapped his arms around her waist. Malon could feel his biceps bulging beneath her arms. The two were lost and caught in the moment. Nothing else mattered at the moment, but the two of them.
Author's Note: I apologize for the extensive wait for this chapter, however I decided to stop it here for certain reasons. It was longer, but it didn't flow right with the direction I was trying to proceed. So yeah, but here is the long await and very short next chapter.
