Chapter 8: And So, Another Fateful Encounter Starts
Part 13
Bell quietly hummed to himself as he cooked breakfast for the entire Familia that morning since he was in an extremely good mood, and how could he not, after such an amorous morning.
"Bell"
The young white-haired boy could not wipe the smile of his face knowing that he was one step closer to 'becoming an adult' as his grandfather always liked to brag about.
"Bell"
The adventurer sighed blissfully while he flipped the pan containing the special omelet he was preparing for his Familia, his mind lost in the sea of memories of that early morning.
"Bell Cranel"
The boy stupidly giggled to himself, and how could he not, for he was blessed with such a loving Familia and even though they were not together for long, he already felt at home with them.
"If you do not reply to me the next time I call your name, there won't be a single place in Earth, Heaven or Hell where you can hide from me"
Bell switched off the stove and turned around at that moment, his heart almost stopped when he noticed the upset visage of the red-haired Goddess who was impatiently tapping the kitchen counter with her finger.
"Miss Kat! When did you come down?"
Hekate pursed her lips and reminded herself that Bell just had his first real sexual experience, so she wouldn't blame the boy… too much.
"Just now, I see you're in a good mood" Hekate gave him an empty smile that sent chills down his back.
Bell knew that was smile.
He was in trouble.
"Um… Yes…" Bell gulped, the last time miss Kat had given him that smile was when the bull his grandfather had enraged and made it chase after Bell had crashed into the Goddess house back at the village.
That was not a fun afternoon, or evening for that matter.
Hekate sighed, crossing her arms under her chest "We need to have a little chat before the others get down"
Bell did not like the tone of her voice, was it because of what happened this morning? Would she ban him from doing stuff like that after giving her approval? What if-
Hekate flicked his forehead.
"Wha-"
"Stop that, we don't have much time" Hekate grabbed Bell's ear like a mother would her children and dragged him to one of the stools where she sat him down.
"Turn around, I'm going to update your status while we speak"
Bell obeyed, offering his back and lifting his long-sleeved black shirt.
"Do you remember our talk yesterday?" Hekate asked as she bit her finger and started applying her golden blood to the young adventurer's back.
"Um, I think? Are you referring to my guess of how my skills work or always carrying around extra valis?" Bell asked for confirmation since he wasn't sure which one the Goddess referred to.
"Neither" Hekate raised an eyebrow once the memories of her Champion latest adventure replayed in her mind "Quite the eventful morning you had there, Bell"
"Ahaha…" Bell blushed and scratched his cheek.
"Would you look at that, another increase to your luck in one night outside the dungeon. I wonder why~" Hekate teased and finally understood how Bell's skill was working, his memories confirmed the theory she had worked over the night.
"Miss Kat, please don't tease me" Bell mumbled, feeling slightly awkward having someone else bring up his private life.
"Spoilsports" Hekate ruffled his hair "Either way, what I meant earlier was that I want you to head to lower floors. From your memories I can see that no monster in the current floors is a match to your Status and from what I understand of how other gods Falna works, the Excelia you will gain from them won't be anywhere near enough if you want to continue growing stronger"
Bell turned around so he could look at his red-haired Goddess who was pensively looking away with a hand to her chin.
"I will need permission from the Guild to do that, miss Kat" Bell replied with the information miss Eina had given him the previous day during his report.
"Ah right, well tell the Half-Elf she has permission to look at your back anytime she wants as long as it allows you to head deeper into the dungeon" Hekate waved at him before serving herself a slice of the breakfast he made.
Bell raised an eyebrow at that "Won't miss Eina see my skills if that's the case?"
"Nah, Hestia hid them. We would hide your Status too but, uh, we… uh… haven't figured out how to do that yet" Hekate cutely hit her head before digging into her breakfast.
The young adventurer could do nothing but sigh at carefree nature of his red-haired goddess.
After accompanying miss Kat while she finished eating and then eating together with Rose on the werewolf's bedroom, the young boy left the apartment before Lady Hestia woke up.
Bell had two places to go before heading into the dungeon and judging by the slightest amount of sunlight bathing the decently bustling streets of Orario knew that there was no need to hurry but he would still do so.
In the young adventurer's mind, every second that he was not doing something to become stronger or help his new Familia was a wasted second.
Thus, Bell started running from the northern district towards his first stop located at the western district. He made good use of his Insight ability to help him navigate through the decently crowded streets.
It was during one carefree turn at a street corner that the white-haired boy barely had a second to change his path before crashing into the group of adventurers that were also rounding the corner.
Bell was so preoccupied with changing course at the last second that he did not feel his back burning.
As his luck would have it, the two adventurers that were rounding the corner were fast enough to move away.
Or at least one of them.
For the second one had moved right into the new path that Bell had changed course, and the young adventurer crashed headfirst onto the heavily robed woman. Her higher Strength stat allowed her to catch the boy without both tumbling down but he still ended up diving between her breasts.
Bell's ability recorded the very unneeded information while his brain processed the feeling of déjà vu, the white-haired boy looked up and found the surprised gaze of a long-eared, fair looking, green-haired woman.
"Um, sorry" Bell mumbled, lost in the unique jade gaze of the high-elven woman.
"Aren't you the adventurer that rescued miss Rose a couple of days ago?" The High Elf blinked several times as she scanned the boy still trapped in her bosom.
"Ah, then you must be from the Loki Familia?" Bell blinked, the hazy memory of the last seconds before he lost consciousness in the dungeon after failing to kill the minotaur replayed in his brain and he connected the green-haired woman with the green blob of back then.
"Yes, what ha-"
"How long are you planning on touching Lady Riveria, you sinful man!?" The second adventurer roared, startling Bell and Riveria.
There was a second of silence before Bell's brain registered the fact that his face was still pressed between the taller woman's chest, which his ability needlessly reminded him of how extremely soft it felt except for the rough texture of her robes.
As if replaying the same scene of his first meeting with Rose at the guild, Bell perfectly jumped back with his legs tucking beneath him mid air and landed in the perfect dogeza pose.
"I AM EXTREMELY SORRY!" Bell shouted, his forehead hitting the back of his hand.
Riveria blinked again, in all her 99 years of life she had never seen someone actually land such a perfect mid-air dogeza apology, and she had seen many of those in the courts of the Elven Forest.
If only she knew the reason for Bell's perfect stance was because of a certain red-haired carefree goddess.
Regardless, as amusing as it was to spectate the fine display of an apology, she couldn't let the person their goddess had been on the lookout since the minotaur incident be beaten to death by her uptight companion.
Just as the blond-haired woman that was her companion was about to kick Bell head with the sole of her foot, the Nine Hells intervened.
"Alicia, stop. It was an accident"
"But Lady Riveria!"
"It. Was. An. Accident" Riveria smiled, the kind of smile that a mother would give their misbehaving children before giving them a whooping they would never forget.
"Yes…" Alicia retracted her foot but still glared at the boy who hadn't moved from his position on the floor.
The main problem solved, Riveria kneeled in front of the white-haired boy that had defied many expectations, as if sensing her approach, the boy looked up and his crimson eyes once more locked onto the unique jade eyes of the High Elf.
"Beautiful…" Bell whispered, catching off guard the High Elf.
"Huh!?"
"Your eyes, it's the first time I've seen someone with such brilliance like yours" Bell continued in awe despite the murderous aura generating a couple meters away from him.
"That- I-" Riveria mouth opened and closed like a fish gulping for ai, it was the first time in many years that someone had given her an honest compliment that did not feel degrading or came from her goddess "Thank you?"
Bell's ability overloaded and the young adventurer heeded his ability's warning, he rolled to the side just as a leather boot smashed the place where his head had been previously. Despite the fast action, his mind still had enough time to analyze his attacker through the information provided by Insight.
Shoulder length blond hair, elven ears, fair skin, a pink battle dress over a brown full bodysuit, a belt with pouches and a sword that was being unfastened from its scabbard as her olive-green eyes blazed with fury.
"How dare you try to pick up Lady Riveria!?"
"I wasn't-"
Bell was given no time to finish his sentence because the blond-haired elf leaped at him, her sword's edge glinting under the early sun of Orario and was swung down at him.
To the surprise of the crowd that had gathered around the commotion and the stunned Riveria, Bell had pulled out his own knife and parried the abrupt, heavy blow of the blond elf to the side, and the young adventurer capitalized on the blond elf instability by locking the sword down with his own knife and then kicked her wrist holding the locked weapon.
"Ah!" Alice shouted surprised as the sword slid across the floor.
Bell took advantage of the woman's surprise, silently apologizing for what he was about to.
"I'M SORRY!" Bell shouted as loud as he could right onto the woman's sensitive long ear, the effect was instant as the blond elf clutched her sensitive long ears and stumbled away from him.
Bell bolted, running past the shaken blond elf, past the bewildered High Elf and leaped above the crowd. He was not going to be dealing with the aftermath of his actions so early in the morning, specially when it had all been a mayor misunderstanding.
As the mop of white hair disappeared in the distance, Riveria recovered from her bewilderment and turned to the shaken blond elf.
"Alicia"
The blond elf stood ramrod straight at the cold voice of her Lady.
"Do you have any idea of what you have done?"
"Lady Riveria, I just didn't want-"
"What you want is not what I want" Riveria scolded, lightly hitting the top of Alicia's head with her staff "I understand your devotion to me but if it keeps getting in the way of my normal life, I don't need it"
Alicia winced, looking down like a scolded child, which compared to the almost hundred years old elf, she was.
Riveria exhaled lightly, her gaze wandered where the white-haired boy had disappeared.
"Loki's not going to be happy we let that boy go again" Riveria pinched the bridge of her nose.
Alicia perked up at that "Is he the person Lady Loki wanted us to find?"
"Yes"
"Why?"
Riveria stopped before she could automatically reply, a devious grin forming on her lips.
"Why don't you ask Loki once we get back home, and you can also explain why he escaped our grasp again"
Alicia did not like Lady Riveria's smile.
"Oh, and you can also tell Ais how you almost killed the person she's interested in"
And so, Alicia spent the rest of her day facing the corner as punishment.
