The demons then looked to the Andorian that introduced herself with curiosity, except for Niffty, who had already met her. She was a peculiar sight to take, with her blue skin and two antennas on the top of her head being in contrast with the caucasian human Edison Hendrix. Charlie was the first of the demons to step forward and introduce herself to the Andorian first officer.
"Hi, I'm Charlie. It's nice to meet you Ms. Sh'ithiaqos. The ship is incredible!" Charlie began to introduce herself to Atathia.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Charlie," Atathia replied to Charlie, showing her kindness and respect.
"Your captain said that your Federation of Planets has many different species. I'm sorry if I seem intrusive, but I've never seen anyone like you before, so what kind of race are you?" Vaggie stepped forward, questioning the Andorian.
"Oh you see, I'm an Andorian. We're characterized by our blue skin and antennas on our head." Atathia commenced describing her race.
"So, I'll give you some facts about the ship you are on as we start our tour. I would advise if you could so kindly follow me." Atathia requested to the demons.
"Eh, sounds fine by me," Angel said as he continued to observe the shuttlebay. "If your ship is anything like this, it should at least be interesting."
"Oh, I'm sure it will be. Follow me." Atathia said as she began to walk towards a turbolift door.
Atathia guided everyone into a turbolift. When she approached it, the door opened for her, without her having to press any button.
The Andorian then made her way into the turbolift, placing her hand open to allow the demons access into it. The turbolift became cramped as the demons made their way inside, it's interior wasn't designed for more than four people at a time, and specifically not eight individuals.
"It's fucking cramped in here." Husk pointed out in a muffled voice as Angel's arm slightly pushed his head against the wall.
"Oh, you know you like being this close to me Husky." Angel flirted in a sultry voice.
"I'd rather be cooped up in a dumpster jackass." Husk replied.
"Boys please, let's be respectful during the tour." Charlie intervened.
Atathia sighed. "Typical Men." She said under her breath before she spoke to the turbolift computer.
"Main Engineering." She commanded the onboard computer as the doors closed and the turbolift began to move through the interior turbolifts shafts.
"Alright, I'll list some facts of the Excalibur," Atathia said as he observed her PADD, which was previously attached to her left-hand side.
"The Excalibur is three hundred and five meters in length, one hundred and forty-two meters in width, and seventy-one meters in height." Atathia began to list general facts from her PADD. The demons seemed to be impressed by the size of the Excalibur, Charlie in particular. The Excalibur was much more extensive than the hotel, and it was truly a feat of science that they managed to keep the whole ship from falling down.
"You don't mind me asking, but does Hell have any vessels or flying machines such as the Excalibur?" Atathia questioned the demons.
"Not at all. There aren't many, a few overlords have made or bought airships, helicopters, or private jets. Otherwise, most transportation is done through cars, a few trains, and an elevator system to move between the rings of hell." Charlie answered.
While insightful it was definitely concerning that Charlie made an allusion to an insane wealth and power gap with the overlords and a reliance on cars rather than public transport. Making several large metal vehicles powered by fossil fuels or primitive batteries for every one or two adults in their lifetime was simply unsustainable, no wonder there was so much smog everywhere.
"The hotel did have an encounter with an overlord that owned one a while ago. I suppose you haven't heard of Sir Pentious?" Charlie asked Atathia.
"Sir who? Is he like a knight or something?" Atathia responded.
"No; he's an inventor of sorts. He has a weaponized airship of some kind. I would advise avoiding him." Charlie answered Atathia.
"I see, I'll make a note of it." Atathia said as she put the name "Sir Pentious" in the back of her mind. The doors soon opened to a large room; Main Engineering.
Main engineering was in direct contrast to the cramping of the turbolift. Much like the shuttle bay, it had a futuristic white coating on the walls. In the middle was a tall tube that illuminated blue and white, with silver livings shooting upwards on the tube. Jotting out of it vertically seemed to be a long tube that seemed to go on for some time before stopping at a white wall. Near the horizontal tube was a display on a railing that surrounded the tube. On the display seemed to be controls and readouts about the ship and "warp" fields. On the display was a human but in a white protective outfit. He had red hair that was combed back, which complemented his white skin. He seemed to be observing the display as he was skimming it.
Vaggie beat everyone to the punch asking what the pillar-like glowing tube was.
"That's the warp core. It helps us power the Excalibur while helping us propel the Excalibur to propel speeds faster than light." Atathia responded as she led the demons out of the turbolift and into main engineering.
Nifty and Charlie let out an astonished ooh while the others looked on with wonder and Alastor a devious grin.
The man who was at the display turned his head to the demons and Atathia. At first, he was taken aback by the demons as a look of astonishment came across his face.
"Bloody 'ell! Atathia, who the hell are these blokes, then, eh?" The Man spoke in a heavy cockney voice to Atathia.
"Sorry Commander, I'm just showing these fine people around the ship. Captain's Orders." Atathia explained to the human, who was observing the demons with puzzlement.
"Well then, I would like to introduce you to the chief engineer of the Excalibur, Alastair Lavanchy," Atathia informed the demons as Alastair fixed his hair.
"Great… another Alastor… this should be fun…" Vaggie mumbled under her breath.
"I like the name! The name's Alastor by the way," Alastor introduced himself as he raised his hand.
"Right good name! Good minds think alike." Alastair beamed as he shook Alastor's hand.
"You see, they have never been on a starship before, so could you explain how the warp drive works?" Atathia requested.
"Oh you see, Warp drive works through a matter/antimatter reaction. The energy it generates is then processed through a material we use called dilithium crystals. The crystals then generate warp plasma, which is sent through an electro plasma system to the plasma injector. Afterward, the plasma injector feeds the warp plasma to warp field coils to generate a warp bubble that surrounds the ship." Alastair began to carefully explain. Unlike before, he didn't speak in any cockney accent
All the demons were at least slightly interested with Charlie, Alastor, Nifty, and Vaggie, paying the most attention.
"Hey uhh… excuse me but what exactly is a warp bubble?" Angel questioned, stepping slowly towards the warp core that was brightened with the power of the matter/antimatter reaction.
"Oh, you see, a warp bubble works by bending space around itself, but leaves everything inside the bubble unchanged. This allows for FTL travel as the space in front of the ship contracts and expands behind."
Nifty scribbled away having started to take notes once Alastair had begun to describe everything. While Charlie looked contemplative until she noted something.
"Huh, I think I remember something about that being mentioned by dad about it being a recent theory on earth."
After quickly composing herself over the surprise she felt from earth being mentioned, Athathia noted another thing down.
"Hang on a moment… I have to speak with the engineer for a second." Athathia said worryingly as she strolled towards Alastair and led him out of earshot from their guests.
While she already suspected the demons were from a pre-warp society this confirmed it. Were they violating the prime directive by interacting with the demons and interfering with their natural development?
"Something wrong mate?" Alastair questioned Athathia.
"These people don't have warp travel yet." Athathia responded.
"O' course they 'aven't, I mean 'ave yer seen 'ow they're lookin' at the warp core?" Alastair said.
"That's what I'm saying. Look, the Captain is probably going to say it later but I'm going to say it now. We are either in abrahamic Hell and back in time or a dimension that takes some inspiration from it." Athathia told Alastair straight up.
"Wait Hell? So are you're tellin' me that them blokes over there are de-!?" Alastair said with surprise before he was cut off by Athathia by her putting her hand over his mouth.
"Don't say anything yet! We can't have hysteria to overtake the ship." Athathia tried to calm the Chief Engineer down.
While the two Starfleet officers discussed things Alastor listened in effortlessly. Sounds were one of his specialties after all, but he wasn't able to gain much from listening in other than what sounded like a no contact rule for beings that didn't know about this warp technology and some slight amusement over his well-named acquaintance learning that he was in hell. There were probably far more interesting conversations being held up on the bridge anyways. He wondered if the captain would be shocked by hell's carnal internet, which gave him a chuckle.
Seeing their two hosts continuing to discuss something led to Angel voicing the apparent question.
"What do you think they're talking about?" He asked, watching the two Starfleet officers continue to talk to each other where the demons couldn't hear them.
Thinking over what might have caused it, Charlie remembered the last sentence said to them before they went out of earshot.
"Well they left after I mentioned earth, you don't think…"
No one was able to follow up as the two returned and Alastair spoke again.
"Does anyone 'ave any questions on warp travel?"
Raising her hand so fast as if it was drawn into the next frame Nifty was first
"Ohhh ohhh, how long does it take to get from star to star!"
"Oh well, the closest star to Earth is Proxima Centauri, which is about 4 light-years away. At our maximum warp speed, which is around 1700 times faster than light, it would take us around a day to reach it."
Angel let out a low whistle over how fast the ship could reach.
Charlie then raised her hand and asked: "How long will the matter and antimatter reaction power the ship?"
"Oh well, we do need to refuel the warp core like a car or an airplane. We fuel the ship through anti-matter reverse to preserve the matter/anti-matter reaction, and we have enough reserves to last us around five years. Furthermore, if the dilithium crystals crack because of stress from the warp engines, we would have to acquire another one in order to regain warp travel."
With that, a female human engineering lieutenant with red hair, similar to Alastair's, came up to him while carrying a PADD.
"De report on de atmospheric field stabilizers for extended periods o' time ser." She spoke in an Irish accent, which was in contrast to Alastair's cockney articulation.
"Thanks, MacGilloway. I'll review 'em now. Sorry mates, duty calls." He said, reviewing the contents of the PADD as he began to walk back to the warp core's display.
"Right, looks like the Chief Engineer is busy right now. So let's continue our tour shall we? Athathia suggested as she was given nods by the demons.
"Right, follow me." Athathia commanded as she led the demons back into the turbolift, which opened to her and the demons.
As the Andorian and the demons huddled into the cramped turbolift, the doors closed as they began to travel to sickbay after Athathia expressed their destination to the machine's voice detector.
"The sickbay, are there any patients there now?" Charlie asked.
"Well let me check…" Athathia trailed off as she observed her PADD for anyone that was in sickbay.
"There is one. It's a human; his name is Jaquan Van Der Sandt. He's being treated for a vulcan nerve pinch. He was one of the officers that beamed down to the surface to you. Any idea what happened?" She asked with curiosity in her voice. As the first officer of the Excalibur, she had to know the status of every officer on board and had to make sure that they were okay.
Adopting an expression like a guilty but embarrassed puppy, Charlie answered. "Well…h-he kind of started to…freak out one he learned this was hell and we were demons so a pointy eared crewmate did that… pinch thing on him."
Athathia put her hand over her face as she profoundly sighed. "Great, just great. I suppose that's our window into the future aboard this ship. Only wished Kylkuc was a bit more gentle."
"Well I'm sure things will turn out alright as long we show them we mean no harm and are decent people, err… mostly decent people." Turning her head, Charlie saw Husk roll his eyes and Angel put his hands on his chest tuft while adopting a carnal look.
Alastor meanwhile adopted a shit eating grin. "Oh boy! I didn't know that one of the humans lost control of themselves. Perhaps humanity hasn't advanced as much as you think…"
Athathia sighed as she tried not to have Alastor's taunts get the better of her. "I'm not saying that the humans, along with every species in the federation, have entirely advanced from our past selves. We're trying to be better, but there'll always be a link to our past behaviors." She tried to explain to Alastor, who was still smiling as she spoke to him.
"Perhaps, or perhaps not Ms Sh'ithiaqos…" He simply responded with an aura of cunning and calculation.
"Well Charlie, I just hope you're right, because I'm not having the brig filled on my watch." Athathia said with some modicum of hope in her voice as she tried to ignore Alastor. By her estimates, the Excalibur's total crew that was human was around 35 percent, making them the largest species group on board the ship. While Abahamic religions were nowhere near as prevalent as they were in their heights, they were still observed by a noticeable amount of the Human population. Albeit with extremely liberal interpretations that varied between people and sects. That meant there could be a possibility that there were officers on board the Excalibur that were religious to some extent.
"Well, I guess the thing I'm taking from this is that I hope no one overreacts." Athathia simply stated as she reflected on the current situation. She just hoped that humanity's current mindset could allow them to take the news without fear or panic.
As she finished talking, the turbolift doors opened out to a large, open room. Unlike main engineering, it wasn't as crowded or congested with officers of numerous distinct races. Instead, it was much more calm and peaceful, with officers calmly doing routine checks. In the room were long rows of beds sticking out of the walls with displays on top of them. Just like the rest of the ship, the interiors were white with shades of gray and white lights. Near the front entrance of it was a small room with windows, allowing people to look into the room, which contained a display and medical supplies. On one of the middle beds of the room lay a Human officer while another being, Chief Medical officer Kylkuc, was standing above the man.
Charlie was already impressed before anything had been explained, in hell, there were hospitals for hellborns that didn't have regenerative abilities like sinners and for services that passive regeneration didn't cover but they were notoriously for profit. Meaning as many corners were cut as possible which usually meant a lack of decent sanitation except in operating rooms and understaffing. But the medical bay here was crystal clean and there seemed to be an adequate number of people.
"Commander, it is agreeable to see you." Kylkuc simply commented as he saw Athathia and the demons exit from the turbolift.
"As to you Commander, I'm just showing these fine people around the Excalibur. Who are you treating?" She asked, walking forward to where Kylkuc was standing.
"I am currently treating Francois Van Der Sandt for a nerve pinch. It was performed by myself in order to keep a situation from escalating." Kylkuc explained to Athathia.
"In additon, I performed a mind meld in order to keep him from losing control of himself." Kylkuc furhur elborated. As Kylkuc finished speaking, the man opened his brown eyes, with his bright red hair in contrast with the gray bedding of the bed. Also in contrast was his facial expressions. When he was on the surface of hell, he was nervous, nervous and prone to action. Now, in opposition was him currently calm, relaxed and generally more friendly than he was on the surface.
"Commander Sh'ithiaqos? What are you doing here?" Francois asked, sitting up up right, using his arms to support his weight.
"At ease Lieutenant. I'm just showing these… people around the ship."
Francois then saw the demons, with Charlie in particular. He sighed in embarrassment as he slumped out of bed and he began to walk towards Charlie.
"Listen, Bru…" Francois began to speak with calmness as Charlie's face turned into one of worry.
"...I'm sorry that I scared you." Francois responded, stopping in front of Charlie.
Charlie's worried expression was quickly replaced with a hopeful and relieved smile. "It...it's okay, you were scared and in a very stressful situation. We all do stupid things from time to time when we are under alot of pressure."
Francois let out a relieved chuckle. "Yeah, I suppose you're right. It's just that I have my little brother with me, I just want to protect him ever since we've joined the fleet."
"I've always wanted a sibling, it's a pity mom and dad never tried for one after me." Charlie looked down for a moment remembering her somewhat strained relationship with her father.
As Charlie and Francois were speaking, Vaggie in particular were in fascination with the medical supplies in the facility. She began scanning the numerous instruments and medical chemicals that were placed neatly on a nearby desk, she began to list their labels out loud she studied them.
"Hydrocortilene…neurozine…Cortolin…cordrazine…? What does all this supposed to mean?" Vaggie questioned herself.
"All of those are medical treatments Ms. Vaggie." Kylkuc answered Vaggie's question, who was standing next to her, slightly startling her. "Hydrocortilene is used to alleviate pain, characteristically headaches. Neurozine is an anesthetic, which can be used to incapacitate any patient. Cortolin is a drug that's helpful in resuscitating patients who've stopped breathing. And Finally, Cordrazine is an exceptionally strong chemical stimulant useful for emergency medical treatment, it's mainly used to stimulate the heart during cardiac arrest." Kylkuc began to explain and list each medical treatment and drug Vaggie herself had listed with exactance and with precision, like he knew this by heart.
"How… how do you know all this?" Vaggie questioned, flabbergasted by his knowledge on the subject.
"I am a Doctor Ms. Vaggie, not just an officer. It is my responsibility and duty onboard this ship to make sure that each and every crewman gets the proper medical treatment they require."
"Do people often get hurt or require treatment on the ship?" Vaggie asked as her eyes traveled around the medical bay.
"Officers sustaining injuries is quite common on missions, Ms. Vaggie. A trained professional like myself has to provide that care, logic dictates it."
"Logic dictates? What the hell does that mean?" Vaggie questioned.
Kylkuc raised an eyebrow as he began to sort and organize his medical supplies for future use.
"Logic is the study of the principles of reasoning. You must understand, I am a Vulcan. And Vulcans has adopted logic as our way of life, a life of order and control through logic and rejecting emotion, which has caused extensive hardships for my people in the past." Kylkuc began to illustrate as he put away his medical tricorder in a storage compartment.
"Wait, so you don't show any emotion so that you don't destroy yourselves?" Asked Vaggie, she heard about deep meditations that "cleansed the soul" when she was alive but she never heard of anyone going as far as purging every emotion in their minds.
"Indeed we do, Logic has been the guiding principle of the Vulcan people for nearly fifteen hundred years, it hasn't failed us since." Kylkuc further elaborated on Vaggie's question as he opened a large storage compartment.
Vaggie was in awe as she saw was inside a large compartment; it was rows and rows of medicine and futuristic medical instrument and devices, neatly placed in order from what diseases, treatments, and uses they provide. Vaggie saw labels include "Cancer", "Syphilis", "Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome", and "Orthocoronavirinae". She stepped forward to the long rows of medical stockpiles, still, awe-struck on how many treatments there were.
"How… How much medicine do you have onboard?" Vaggie questioned.
"Well have approximately five years worth of medical supplies and treatments onboard the Excalibur. Why did you ask that question?" Kylkuc questioned as he turned his gaze from his supplies to Vaggie.
"Oh… I was just wonder if we-" Vaggie said before she paused.
"Is something wrong?" Asked Kylkuc.
"I'll explain later. I need to talk with Charlie." Responded Baggie who began to walk over to Charlie, who was still talking to Francois.
"Charlie, can I speak to you for a moment?"
Giving a nod the two demons walked to the corner of the room to discuss things.
Adopting a slightly concerned look Charlie asked her girlfriend what was up "Is everything alright Vaggie?"
"Yeah, Dr. Kylkuc was just explaining to me what the many medicines they have do. Charlie, they're incredible! They can cure nearly any disease we have in hell. And well...Charlie, he said he said the ship has about 5 years worth of medicine."
"That's… Incredible! What are you thinking?"
"That we could ask for some to use for our guests at the hotel," Vaggie questioned.
Charlie's eyes immediately widened as she fought to keep her jaw from dropping to the floor.
"Vaggie that's a wonderful idea!" Charlie exclaimed before her trademark smile slightly faded. "But, would Edison allow it? I don't know if his organization would approve of that…" Charlie questioned with an aura of uncertainty in her voice.
Charlie was likely correct in her assumptions. While it was not uncommon for Starfleet to supply medical supplies to other worlds and civilizations, these circumstances were different. Starfleet had just arrived in a peculiar unfamiliar dimension of sorts, with only a handful of life forms knowing of their presence with no connection to any Federation or Starfleet representative. Furthermore, the prime directive strictly prohibited the interference of the natural development of a pre-warp civilization. So, the transfer of highly advanced medical supplies to a recently contacted pre-warp civilization without a particularly good reason would go against the prime directive.
"Maybe, but he decided to show us the ship. And if not we can at least continue on as we have." Vaggie said, trying to keep Charlie's hopes up.
"Hang on for a second," Francois said, starting to sweat a bit. "This whole being in hell thing is making me stressed, doctor you have a synthesizer here?" He asked.
"Indeed Lieutenant. It's right there." Kylkuc said, pointing to a wall with the outline of a large rectangle and hatch on it with a small display on top of it.
"Oh thank god," Francois said, quickly marching to it and stopping at arm's length of the display, which Charlie followed in curiosity. From there, he began to tap onto the display, seemingly going and selecting through a list of items before stopping and pressing a button on the bottom right saying "Synthesize."
A few moments later, a whirring noise could be heard from inside the outline of the rectangle, with a glow exiting out from the outline itself. The entire demon crew looked at with curiosity as the whirring noise and the glow slowly dissipated, with a ding coming out of it when both the noise and light disappeared. Francois then grabbed the hatch, pushing it upwards and what was inside of the machine would shock mostly the entire demon crew, a fully cooked hamburger with toppings on it.
"That burger is not nutritionally sufficient Lieutenant," Kylkuc said as Francois seized the burger that was inside of the machine.
"Oh, just mind your own busine-" Francois begrudgingly responded to Kylkuc as he moved the burger to his mouth. As he opened his mouth, preparing to take a bite out of the burger. However, as he wasn't paying attention to anything else, the burger was suddenly seized upon, leaving nothing but air to enter Francois's mouth.
"Gimme that!" Angel Dust spoke out, with the burger being carried by his hands. He looked at it with immense curiosity, like it was some form of magic that he'd never seen before.
"Wh-What the hell is this?!" He questioned, looking at the burger.
"That is my lunch." Francois responded, grabbing his burger from Angel Dust. Shortly afterwards, he began to take bites out of it with the demons looking on at awe. This food that the officer was currently eating was real!
"That burger! It's real! How did you do that?!" Angel questioned looking closely at the machine that birthed the burger into reality.
"That is a Food synthesizer Mr. Dust." Kylkuc informed, walking over to the device. "It works by rearranging molecules and atoms to assemble food on the molecular level." He said, as he searched for something on the display. "For example, when inputting a command on the display, you can use it to create clean water." He said as he pressed the Synthesize button on the display. Without delay, the wall came down and the process from before began once again. As the process concluded, Kylkuc pulled upwards on the hatch, revealing a glass of water, which he then grabbed.
"Care for a glass?" He asked, offering the glass to Husk, which he then grabbed. At first he was suspicious, he didn't really trust this liquid that came out of a machine. He sighed, "When in Rome." He said before taking a gulp from the drink. Immediately he was surprised, this water was real!
"Holy shit…this stuff is real!"
"Wait! Let me see!" Charlie said, running up to the device and tapping at the device's display.
"Does this thing have any pizza?"
Charlie being in awe was an understatement, to say the least. She was ecstatic about this machine, it could create any object that she could imagine, furthermore it could create it from literally nothing but the atoms in the air. This technology could fix many, many things; too many problems in hell to count. The Ship was almost too good to be true, they somehow managed to fix nearly every problem that plagued hell and did more upon it. She had to get their help; not just for her personal project to redeem sinners, but for all of hell itself.
Vaggie was in awe along with Charlie, the Excalibur was simply heavenly to her. The fact that the Excalibur provided the key to nearly every problem that the hotel and hell were facing was mind-boggling in itself. While she was still cautious of them she knew they had to get the Excalibur to help them, it would likely be their only opportunity to solve some of the many problems in hell and would greatly increase the chances of charlie's dream to be made into reality.
Angel Dust approached the Excalibur somewhat differently from Charlie and Vaggie. To him it was all he could ever want and need. While he was mind blown from the technology and would love to have access to one of the food replicators or medical treatment, the thought of helping out the inhabitants of hell hadn't crossed his mind. This was mostly due to the fact that he had only looked out for himself and cherri for so long and he had doubts this starfleet would make this technology available to everyone, at the very least without a price. A thought shared by Husk.
Nifty was too full of childlike wonder and a desire for sushi from the replicator to entertain any other thoughts, but Alastor was the one thinking the most about what had just been revealed.
While the technology was impressive the food regulators stood out the most. If this technology were to become widespread then the power bases of many overlords and high ranked demons would be eradicated. Hell the food industry could be mostly eradicated all together.
Without the ability to threaten their underlings with starvation, the powerful would lose one of their most vital tools in keeping the lower classes of hell oppressed and desperate as their employees gained security. Sure some may use it as an excuse to lower wages or benefits, but people were just as likely to quit now that they wouldn't have to worry about starving. It was so entertaining.
Of course this was all assuming that hell could keep up with the energy requirements of the replicators, that starfleet decided to help anyways, and that the replicators were made available to everyone rather than being privatized.
The thought of the long-standing overlords becoming more and more desperate due to a break in the status-quo due to an organization like Starfleet made him almost giddy in excitement.
Either way, the tour had certainly been entertaining, though not as interesting as the conversation going on in the bridge that he had one of his shadow creations listening in on.
"This… sure is something," Rolf said in dread and embarrassment, looking at the almost sinful debauchery on his screen which was displaying Hell's internet.
"Make sure to run an anti-virus software later…. And delete the browser history just to be safe." Edison said in a shaken voice, almost like what he saw scared him.
"Why are they so infatuated with humanoid canine species?" She'rl asked, with a slight tone of disgust in her voice.
"Well… at least we know we're in hell." Rolf articulated, continuing to research through the pages and tabs of sinful pleasures and desires.
"Just close it please, before I have to erase my mind of what I'm seeing right now." Edison said as he groaned and put his hand over his eyes in an act of misery.
"I've seen worse." Rolf said to himself as he closed out of Hell's internet from his display.
"So let's start off small right now, call a meeting from all of the senior staff and we'll see what we can do then," Edison said, taking his hand off his face.
"Alright, contacting them right now…" Rolf said, accessing the interior communications systems of the starship.
"Lieutenants and Commanders, you are to report to the Officer's Observation lounge for a debriefing and discussion with the captain about our current situation. See you there." Rolf explained to the senior officers on board the Excalibur before cutting out communications.
"She'rl, you have the conn," Edison said, heading to the turbolift with Rolf following. As he stood before the opening turbolift doors, his eyes were caught by a bronze rectangle on the left hand side of the turbolift doors. Upon further examination, it read:
U.S.S EXCALIBUR
CONSTITUTION CLASS • REGISTRY NUMBER NCC-1756
UTOPIA PLANITIA SHIPYARDS
SECOND STARSHIP TO BEAR THE NAME
COMMISSIONED: STARDATE 2439.76
UNITED FEDERATION OF PLANETS
"...all I ask is for a tall ship and a star to steer her by."
Edison smiled as he put his hand on the cold surface of the bridge plaque. "I'm gonna make you proud dad." He quietly promised to himself as he resumed to head to the turbolift.
As they entered the turbolift that was waiting for them, the doors closed behind them.
"Deck Two." Rolf commanded the turbolift control system, allowing it to travel through the tubes.
"Deck Three. Sorry, Rolf, I gotta get something from my quarters." Edison said, just as the turbolift doors opened to the corridors of deck two.
"Aye Captain, I'll see you in the observation lounge then." Rolf said while exiting the turbolift with the doors closing behind him, leaving Edison by himself.
It was a short time later when the turbolift doors opened the corridors of where his quarters were located, deck three. Edison then exited from the turbolift and started to roam through the empty corridors of his ship. Edison was proud to serve on a ship like the Excalibur, and even more proud to captain it. Even though he had her for only a couple of days now, Edison knew that she was a fine ship and had enough tricks up her sleeve to take on anything and could come up on top. And with them certain that they were in hell and that their presence would not be completely appreciated, they would have to use every trick they could muster.
As Edison silently reflected his thoughts, he finally arrived at his quarters, which the doors opened for him. Edison sighed as he entered his living spaces in relief, it reminded him of home a little. In comparison to the other quarters on board the Excalibur, Edison's was much more spacious and luxurious. But unlike many captains who would normally fill their rooms with otherwise everyday possessions, Edison supplied his otherwise "retro" belongings. Among his closer possessions was a gaming console from the early 21st century which was hooked up to his display on his table, a model of a Delorean from the movie "Back to the Future", an Iron Man action figure, and above his bed was a flag of the United States of America, with 52 stars in its canton.
Taking his room in for a bit, he quickly walked forward to his bed to grab a personal PADD with gold wireless headphone being placed over his ears. Getting what he needed, he swiftly exited the room and walked through the passageways before entering through the turbolift's doors, which then exited behind him when he entered.
"Officer's Observation Lounge." Edison commanded as he shuffled through the songs he had on his music collection on his PADD, which fit comfortably in his hand. Edison always loved old school music, he thought of it as a true golden age in music. Not to say that he didn't like modern music, but something about him had him drawn to the music of old. As he continued looking through his digital collection, he smiled to himself as he found the song he was looking for. Pressing it, it began to play in his headphones as he placed it inside of his pocket.
"I think it's time we blow this scene, get everybody and the stuff together… Okay, three, two, one, let's jam!"`
Hey everyone! Sorry this took out so long, had a lot to deal with and tried to really make this story good because it's the first time the hazbin gang truly encountered starfleet. But yeah, I hope you enjoyed this, I sure did!
