Dante opened the door and saw Robyn's bike pull up. So she had decided to ride the beast tonight. He leaned against the doorframe as he watched her remove her helmet, fix her earrings and dismount the bike. She was so sexy with that bike. He smiled when she looked up and met his eyes. Smiling back, she flipped her ponytail over her shoulder, grabbed her helmet and walked towards him. His eyes traced her as she walked. She was wearing curve hugging black leather leggings with black ankle boots and a leather jacket. She made his mouth water. He stood up and stepped aside when she reached the door.
"There's something about you and that bike," he said as she walked up.
"You like the idea of dating a biker?" she asked.
He shook his head, "Just you. You're so damn sexy."
She looked at the apron he was wearing then leaned up to give him a quick kiss before going inside. He looked down at his apron. Kiss the cook, it read. He smiled as he closed the door and followed her inside.
"Another gift from the boys. I was just getting ready to start in the kitchen when I heard your bike," he explained as he pulled off the apron.
"No explanation needed," Robyn said, setting her helmet on the side table and removing her coat. "I'm just following directions." She grinned as he tossed the apron on the kitchen counter then turned back to where she was standing. He took in her long white scoop neck tee that had been under the coat. Taking her coat from her, he hung it up.
"Want a house tour before I get started with cooking?" he asked, gesturing to the stairs.
"Sure," she responded. "I've been curious about the rest."
He opened the door that led downstairs and gestured for her to join him. "Let's start here," he said as he led her down. They ended up in a large room that was almost the full length of the house. On one side of the room there were desks for the boys to do homework and bookcases of books and games. Shelves of movies seperated the two spaces. The other side of the room contained a large sectional sofa and a couple of recliners that faced a huge TV mounted on the wall. The sofa had multiple throw pillows and a variety of blankets were draped over the back. In the very back of the space was a room that had been turned into a home gym.
"Welcome to what I consider the free for all," he said with a laugh.
"I like the layout you have going here," she said. "That's quite the movie set up over there."
"You know, we should actually watch a movie one day," he suggested with a smile. She looked up at him, shrugged and smiled back in response. He led them back to the main floor then up the next flight of stairs. The second floor contained the boys bedrooms separated by a bathroom. On the third floor, there was a guest room, another bathroom and an office. The top floor of the house was made up of the master suite.
"Ah yes, your Iair," Robyn said as they reached the last step. She stopped at the top and looked around. The front portion of the space had been sectioned off into a relaxation area. On one side, there was a reading area with two oversized chairs that you could card up in and a small table in front of built-in bookcases. On the other side, there was a small writing desk and chair and an electronic piano and bench. Robyn gestured to the piano, "I thought you didn't play," she said.
"Until the other day, I haven't. That keyboard had basically become an unused piece of furniture," he explained. "I kept meaning to start again, but I never got around to it. I've played it a couple times now though. So at least there's progress."
"Life can be distracting," she said with a shrug.
"Who knows, if I start playing more, I might get an actual piano downstairs."
She rounded the wall of the balcony and turned to look at the rest of the area. Passing through open french doors, they walked into the bedroom. In the middle of the room sat a Texas king sized bed flanked by nightstands. The room also contained a huge stereo system, a gas fireplace under a mounted TV, and two chairs with a table separating them. There were also two additional doors. One led to the huge walk-in closet and the other to a large bathroom. A full length mirror stood between the doors.
Robyn walked into the bathroom and smiled, "That's a huge claw foot tub. I approve," she smiled.
He looked at the tub, then looked at her and grinned, "I'm very glad to hear that."
Walking back into the bedroom, Robyn gestured to the elaborate stereo set up, "That's intense looking. That's how you know someone is a music aficionado."
"It's pretty great," he said, walking over and turning it on. Immediately, soft music began to play from multiple embedded speakers around the room. It had a turntable for vinyl records, a cassette player, a radio and a CD player. She figured it was safe to assume it was connected to bluetooth on his phone right now.
"Hidden surround sound? That's nice. It's not expected in a bedroom," she said with a smile. "I might have to steal that idea."
"It's one of my favorite features. We've got it in a few different areas of the house," he said. "It hooks up to the TV too. There's even the option to flip a switch and turn it on in the bathroom."
Robyn smiled at his excitement. Boys and their toys. Her eyes traveled over him and she walked over to him, "Good to know. I'll file that knowledge away for later use. I like your new house, it's really nice."
"Thank you," he said, reaching out and placing his hands on her waist. He pulled her closer to him. "Wanna dance?" he asked her.
She enjoyed the feeling of him against her and slid her hands up his chest, placing them on his shoulders. "Always," she said as they began to move to the music. She looked at him and smiled, "So, tell me about Marcus and the piano," she prompted.
"It's not very exciting. I started playing in my teens. Classical, New Age, popular music mainly. I didn't discover my love for jazz until the beginning of college. It became a way for me to relax. I found it was fairly easy for me to go off book and improv songs." He paused, "Honestly, I'm not even sure what made me start playing at Lush. I guess the room was empty and the piano was there, so I figured, why not? I mean how do you resist a baby grand?"
"Believe me, I get it. Lush has a way of drawing the musician out in a person. I play just enough to find the note I need to sing. Why did you stop playing?" she asked as she slid one hand down to rest on his chest.
"I guess it was sometime around the police academy. My focus changed and I got busy. Between work, Vanessa and the boys, I just never picked it back up again."
"So you're telling me you just sat down after years and that's what came out?"
"Muscle memory I guess," he said. "Is it really that different from you not performing for years?"
"Yes," she said. "I perform in concerts in the shower and car all the time."
He laughed, "Okay, I see your point."
"Well, I'm glad to see you discovered it again. You're really talented," she said looking up at him. "I like to listen to you play. It looks like it relaxes you."
"Thanks. I think I'm glad to be playing again too," he said, bringing a hand up, he cupped the side of her neck. "I still like hearing you sing better," he said as he leaned down to give her a gentle kiss. She willingly kissed him back.
She brought her hand up to cup the back of his neck and opened her mouth to him. What started off as a slow gentle kiss quickly turned heated. As their tongues mated, their hands began to move, exploring each other's bodies. Robyn lifted the bottom of his shirt to place her hands on the bare skin of his stomach. Her fingers traced over his muscles as she moved her hands up to his chest continuing to move the shirt out of her way. She moaned and they broke their kiss long enough for Dante to pull his shirt over his head and toss it on the floor. Without a shirt to interfere, Robyn let her hands roam him freely, tracing the muscle definition on his rapidly heating chest and back.
After removing his shirt, Dante brought his hands back to Robyn's body and his mouth back to hers. He took his turn lifting the bottom of her shirt to feel her bare skin. It was warm, soft and smooth. With one hand on her waist, he traced his other hand higher along her curves. When his thumb brushed the underside of her breast, she moaned in response. A moment later, her shirt was joining his on the floor. Both breathing heavily, he took a moment to admire her heaving bra clad chest.
"God you're beautiful," he said, drawing her back in for another kiss.
She ran her hands up his arms and locked them behind his head, pressing them together from shoulder to waist. They both moaned at the connection. Robyn arched into Dante's hardening crotch. His hands explored her exposed skin as they kissed. After a moment, without knowing who was moving who, they moved towards the bed. When they bumped the edge of the bed, they kicked off their shoes then tumbled onto the covers. Gulping in air, they broke apart. Holding his gaze, Robyn moved backwards on the bed until she was laying at the top, propped up against the pillows. He followed, crawling over her across the bed. He immediately leaned down for another kiss once she stopped moving. Her hands moved up to explore more of his chest as he knelt above her.
Through their lust filled haze, they heard Dante's phone ringing. He broke their kiss and groaned. "I have to answer that," he whispered in a hoarse voice. "That's my work ring."
She looked up at him and nodded. "Okay," she said in a breathless voice.
He gave her another quick kiss then crawled off of her and stood from the bed to retrieve his phone.
"Dante," he answered in a gruff tone as he turned back to face a half clothed Robyn. He listened to the voice on the phone as he raked his gaze over her body. She was still breathing heavily and he enjoyed the rise and fall of her breasts. He came back over to the bed and moved to sit next to her. He reached over and traced a finger over her collarbone and down her breasts. "Right now?" he asked into the phone. He ran his thumb over her swollen bottom lip and she reached over and lightly ran her fingers over his skin while he listened. "OK. I'll be there in about 20." He hung up the phone and sighed.
"Caught a case?" she asked, looking up at him with a hazy gaze.
"Yeah, I'm really sorry. I have to go." Her fingers stilled and he moved his gaze over her body again. "I really, really don't want to though."
"It's ok, I get it." She traced a finger down his chest to his waist and gently tugged his waistband, "I'll take a rain check."
He leaned down to give her another long kiss. "You're killing me Robbie," he said. "I'm really sorry, I still owe you dinner too."
She gently pushed his chest and he climbed off the bed, "Stop apologizing. I completely understand." She propped herself up on her elbows to watch him change for work. Once he was dressed, she gestured to her shirt. "Can you toss me my shirt, please?" He picked it up then walked over to the bed. Instead of handing it to her, he looked at her with a hungry graze. She didn't cover herself, instead, she quietly watched him as he looked at her up and down. "It's okay. You can leave Marcus," she said softly. "This is not a one time occurrence."
He placed her shirt next to her on the bed then leaned over her. "You can take your time getting dressed and stay as long as you want. The door will lock behind you, so there's no rush. I'm not too sure what this case is so I don't know when I'll be done."
She raised herself up to kiss him. "Stop stressing. It's fine," she promised. He gave her one more lingering kiss then left the room. A minute later he was gone.
After Dante left, Robyn dropped back onto the pillows and sighed deeply. Well, that had been an extremely unexpected turn of events. She had been perfectly content to dance and talk with him and then he had kissed her and it was like a flame ignited in her. She had really been enjoying the direction their evening had been going. At least until his stupid phone rang. Being a responsible adult was extremely annoying. The feeling of his half naked body pressed against hers was as good as she knew it would be. She looked forward to the time when they could both end up naked together. She had some exploring she wanted to do. She sighed again, rolled off the bed and pulled her shirt back on. She fixed her ponytail and walked over to turn off the stereo. She straightened his covers then turned on the lamp on his nightstand.
Leaving his room, she retraced her tour and turned off all of the lights that had been left on throughout the house. Since she knew he'd be gone for a few hours, she left a lamp on by the front door so he wouldn't come home to a dark house. She turned and walked into the kitchen. She assumed he also wouldn't have a chance to eat while he was out. Since they never made it to dinner, he was bound to be hungry and want something quick when he got home. She made him a thick fully loaded turkey sandwich and wrapped it on a plate. She walked over to the drawer and pulled out a pen and piece of paper. She wrote a note, put it on top of the sandwich and put both in the fridge where she knew he'd see it. She put on her coat, grabbed her helmet, and left the house. After making sure the door was locked behind her, she mounted her bike and rode home. She'd had fun. Aunt Vi was right, she did need to loosen up more.
