This chapter is going to actually focus on the Twilight Princess characters, who I have not forgotten. Some may play key parts, so enjoy.
-Importance of Family-
Rusl watched his son Colin play in the stream near the Mayor Bo's house with Talo. The two of them were catching tadpoles and they seem to be having fun while doing so. Rusl let out a small sigh, his teal eyes traveling to the entrance of the village. He was wondering about Rinku. The young teen often went to the Scared Grove to pay his respects to the previous hero and princess. But the young man was usually back by this time. Two hours have passed and he did tell Rusl he wouldn't be long..
"Hey daddy," A young voice shattered his thoughts. Rusl turned and saw his son, Colin holding a fish. "I caught it with my bare hands. I can't wait to show Rinku." He watched his son, make his way out of the stream.
He thought about it before he cleared his throat. "I think Rinku is running an errand for Princess Zeruda right now." Colin's face fell.
"He is always with her," Colin mumbled, making his way in to the water. Rusl caught Colin's remark and sighed. Indeed, Rinku spent a lot of time with the vivacious princess, but that was because they were getting to know one another and they were attracted to one another. He turned his attention and saw Ilia walking away, with her head down. It was obvious that she over heard the conversation again and ended up sad. The villagers of Ordon often thought of Ilia ending up with Rinku, but after his journey, he didn't feel right being there. So he left and only visited from time to time. He did stay in his home without informing them and left early in the morning. It did hurt Rusl, who remembered meeting the young Rinku, when his father brought him to Ordon for the first time.
Rusl continued to practice his sword techniques in front of his house in the Village of Ordon. His father had given him an arming sword. It was a type of sword with a single-handed cruciform hilt and straight double-edged blade of around eighty-one centimeters in length. Rusl was about to practice thrust moves, until he heard a horse whinnying in the distance. He directed his attention to the village entrance. About a minute passed, and a beautiful belgian-like horse came into view. On the magnificent horse were two riders.
"Damon," Rusl exclaimed, catching sight of his friend. Damon grinned, keeping one hand on the reins and the other around a very small child, who looked no more than three years of age. Rusl caught sight of the young child, who wore clothing similar to his father. Both were wearing blue tunics, beige pants, and sandals. The young child looked at Rusl, as the horse was coming to a stop. He quickly buried his face into his father's chest, clutching his tunic.
Damon laughed slightly, as the horse, Eva, came to a stop. "Rusl, this is my son, Rinku. I wanted you two to meet. Rinku, could you say hi to my friend, Rusl?" The young child pulled away slightly, his azure hues connecting with teal hues. Rusl offered the child a smile, who returned it. Rinku waved in a shy manner.
"It's nice to meet you, Rinku," Rusl whispered. Rinku blinked before he looked at his dad. His dad only nodded, before Rinku looked at Rusl.
"Nice to meet you," he whispered. Rusl smiled more, looking at Damon, who looked like a proud father. Damon was already a grown man, at twenty-two, but he had a genuine like for Rusl. The two had met when Rusl and Damon both trained with the Hylian Army. Though Rusl was a tad bit too young, they respected him and were honored to have his help when it called for it. Damon was one of the captains who was solely impressed with him. They had met five years earlier, when Rusl was only eight. Despite his age, his skills were incomparable and he gained the then seventeen year old Damon's respect.
From that day on, the two of them trained as often as they could. Once his son was born, Damon saw Rusl less than he wanted, but Rusl could fully understand. Damon was a father and spending time with his family was top priority.
"So is that the only reason you came to see me?" Rusl asked, watching Damon dismount his horse and then he helped his son down.
"No," Damon whispered, sounding graved. Rusl raised a brow. "Apparently the bublins are forming in large numbers. They over took a small group of soldiers, who were returning from Lake Hylia. It worries me because how close that was to my home. Rinku and I could smell the smoke for days. Thankfully Katerina is safe visiting family in Castle Town. However with Rinku, I didn't feel either one of us were safe. We came here..."
"To prevent them from harming you?" Rusl concluded. Damon nodded, looking at his son. Rusl followed his gaze, as the three year old was gently patting Eva.
"I...also came to tell you something else," Damon whispered in a serious tone. Rusl looked at him, raising a brow. "I"m sure you heard of the legends, have you not?"
Rusl thought about it for a minute. "You mean about the Hero of The Sky or the Hero of Time, right?" Damon nodded. "What does that have to do with..." he stopped when a faint glowing caught his eyes. He looked at Rinku and then he gasped. On the three year old's hand was the triforce. It was faint, but it was definitely noticeable. "Is he destined to be one like them?"
Damon bowed his head. "I am not certain, but Katerina strongly believes it. The tales are some of his favorites. He certainly loves hearing about the Hero of Time the most."
"His story was the most mysterious of them all," Rusl commented.
Rinku looked at them and smiled. "Can I hear about Link, daddy?" Damon gave Rusl a look that clearly said 'Watch this.'
"Which one, Rinku?" Damon asked innocently.
The three year old looked impatient and he sighed heavily. "Daddy, you know the awesome one. The Hewo of Time, he ish so cool." Rusl and Damon both laughed, as Rinku ran over to his dad. His father picked him up and nodded. "Yay!"
Since he met him, he couldn't believe what Katerina believed. He couldn't fathom that Rinku was to be the next hero. He would be the one to go down into history. When Rusl found out that Rinku was on a journey to save Hyrule, he was dumbfounded. He didn't realize the extent until he witnessed Rinku fight King Bublin and when he saw Rinku allowed that monster to live. But he found out King Bublin was now an ally to him. Rusl had to say he was shocked. A lot that Rinku did Rusl understood because that was why he was the hero. He had so much true courage and he was brave.
Rusl managed to slip through the Village entrance before he stopped in front of Rinku's house. He felt a tug at his heart, looking at it. He knew something had to happen to Rinku, as he began to race through the woods. He had a terribly bad feeling and he knew it was regarding Rinku. It took Rusl quite some time, but he made it to the Sacred Meadow.
He stood at the entrance and heard the trumpet that he knew belonged to Rinku's friend, who was a little forest imp named Skull Kid. He had meet Skull Kid twice and thought he was quite interesting. A giggle was heard from behind. Rusl whirled away and Skull Kid stared at him. "Rinku's friend here." He raised his horn closer to his mouth. "Play time?"
"Maybe later," Rusl whispered, earning a pout from Skull Kid. "Is Rinku here?" Skull Kid nodded. "Is he at the sword?" Skull Kid nodded again, before he jumped away disinterested and began to play his trumpet again. Rusl followed Skull Kid's lantern and made his way to the Sacred Grove. Rusl only sighed softly, looking in the direction of where the Master Sword should be. He made his way, down and stood before the opening. He took in a deep breath, before making his way up. He gasped, seeing where the sword would lay was empty, but glowing. 'What?' He thought.
He looked around and noticed Rinku wasn't around. He was completely stumped, trying to figure it out. Where did he go and where was the sword? Rusl made his way to the pedestal and stood before it. He bit his lip, before he placed his hand over the imaginary hilt. Darkness clouded his vision and Rusl felt his balance get thrown off. Within seconds, he was on the ground, coughing slightly. "What on earth?" He uttered, looking around. He stared up an recognized the Temple of Time from pictures he saw as a child.
"This couldn't possibly be the Temple of Time from the Hero of Time's Era," Rusl commented to himself. Then he realized what he said and was dumbfounded. "I went back in time?"
