Creating various method of testing out who might an airbender and who was not took up some time. Aang had to recall things that he really did not before. Since he was born and raised an Air Nomad that meant while he was aware of the methods used the other nations. His own people's verison were not as clear though. Trying to figure out which were possible only because of bending and which merely something anyone could do either with pratice or the right amount of skill.
That was an interesting venture. One that Yee-Li and the others members of the Official Avatar Aang Fan Club were happy to help with. This was only the Ba Sing Se chapter and though they were still forming the club there were already other chapters starting to open in other cities already. Which help spread the word around that the Avatar was creating methods of testing out to see who might and might not be an airbender. Though this was done in matter that would really draw too much attention to group's action overall as this was topic that was sensitive in many ways.
There were those that thought the Air Nomads were completely wipe out thus all the benders of air element were as well. If not dealt with properly it could cause an uproar amongst the people thus the reasoning for keeping it on low level where they could get everything they need or at least as much as possible set up before hand. The more they prepare for this the more they would not be caught off guard in the future.
However there was a problem that none of them seem to notice as they were too absorbed in getting everything set up. That was the members of the Official Avatar Aang Fan Club were mostly women and with that there were people wondering why the Avatar was so closely involving himself with such a group. A seemingly newly formed one that was primarily girls and women. Thus rumors about what they thought was happening were starting to spread around the globe and were reaching the ear of Katara who was busy dealing with realtionship between her people and the Fire Nation. As Aang told her he was busy with something important in the Earth Kingdom beyond just dealing with helping to repair the wall in Ba Sing Se thus asked if she could deal with this for him.
Aang was shocking surprised that everyone from the Ba Sing Se chapter of the fan club seem to be Airbenders like Yee-Li. However the thing was that their level of bending varied as some did not see have the level of skill to be anything more then just basic level. Of them all only seemingly Yee-Li had the level that allowed her to possibly become a master if she really put her all in training like she was now….but even she would take years to do so.
"Avatar Aang, we have problems" Yee-Li said as she was rushing into the clubhouse.
"Huh? Did the knowledge that we are creating methods to test to see if non-benders might be airbenders get out to the public. We almost the point where we can announce it without causing an uproar….at least not that big of one" he asked.
"Not really but I just went to where you were staying to pick up what you told me and I am pretty sure I saw Katara there. She did not see but she did not seem that happy at the moment. I do not think that she saw me though" Yee-Li told him
Aang did not like that well as ever since he discovered Yee-Li and the others were airbenders. He was spending most of his free time here to train them and ended up staying here with them most of the time. Though he managed or he hoped to by claiming that he was just teaching them everything he knew about his culture and ensure that it was being represented properly.
It seemed that his plan was not playing out as well as he thought as probably could have explained himself better. He did not give all the details about what he was doing here as he really did not want it leaking out in anyway. Maybe he was being too trusting in thinking she would understand without much details. So if she was here now then he could properly explain to her what was going on and then learn from this mistake so that it does not happen again.
In hindsight maybe not informing Katara about everything from beginning was the mistake. It was from that initial point... that initial misunderstanding from a lack of proper information. That everything else seem to stem from as Aang thought things could have got down different if that one point was done differently.
