Chapter 3: Confrontations
Disclaimer: I do not own Tokyo Ghoul or any of the characters involved except for Guardian D. Death and Defiler H. Hollow
Hollow charged towards The Agent again, brandishing the scythe above his head.
"That won't work!" The Agent shouted as he raised the shield and caught Hollow's slash. He grunted with exertion as he tried to rip the weapon free from the material, but it remained steadfast as The Agent lashed out with the whip again, catching Hollow on the cheek as he leaned back to avoid the blow. Leaping up and bracing himself on the handle of his scythe Hollow kicked off and launched himself toward the ceiling of the underpass.
"Not bad human… I think it's time you repaid me the favor of telling you my name."
"Fair enough brat not like it matters when you'll be dead in a few minutes. The name's Mado, Kureo Mado."
Hollow nodded as he filed the name away in his mind. He cracked the stones he was braced against as he prepared to kick off again.
"Death's Grasp!"
A giant skeletal hand flew toward Hollow who was caught by surprise. The hand wrapped its fingers around him, falling to the ground with a crash and a cloud of dust. As it settled the two combatants looked to see Death standing at the entrance of the tunnel.
"Who would you be then?" Mado asked.
"His name is Death. He's not important." Hollow said from the ground.
"Seems pretty important when he took you out so easily." Mado looked up to Death "What's your business here 'Death'?"
"I'm here for the boy," Death's voice echoed from behind his mask as he raised a hand and pointed at the currently bound Hollow.
"What are you going to give me for him?" Mado asked.
"What do you mean?"
"He's killed quite a few people since he's been here, and I'm afraid I can't just let someone show up out of nowhere and take him when he hasn't faced punishment for his crimes."
"Believe me when I say his punishment will be more than adequate for a few murders."
Mado gave Death a look with one wild eye before looking down at Hollow, then back at Death.
"Don't," Death warned him.
Mado grinned before flexing the shield in his left hand, Hollow's scythe burst free from the material and flew towards the boy, slashing through the hand, dispersing the magic. Hollow quickly scooped the weapon up as he flipped back away from Death and landed on his feet, his eyes darting back and forth between the two.
"Figure I'd give the boy a chance to fight for his life. After all, there's two of us after him now!" Mado said with a manic smile.
Death sighed from under his mask before reaching up with his hand. He grasped the piece by the base and lifted it, the metal dispersed into fragments, disappearing completely. A shockwave erupted from Death, staggering both Mado and Hollow. His eyes changed from their normal white and black to their black with red iris and white pupils.
"Kureo Mado… you have committed a crime against the Guardian of Death and interfered in Guarerian business. As punishment, I will end your life as the Story of your World has foretold for you."
Death lifted his hand and his scythe appeared, he grasped the weapon and spun it around his body before planting the base in the dirt at his feet.
Meanwhile, Kaneki and Tohka were facing off against The Younger agent, Koutarou Amon. He lifted his massive club-like weapon above his head and swung down in a powerful overhead blow that shattered the ground where Tohka and Kaneki had been standing.
"You won't get past me as easily as your friend did!" Amon shouted as he hefted the weapon onto his shoulder.
Kaneki gave Tohka a glance "You have to get past him."
"What?"
"Death is likely outnumbered, the CCG sends agents out in pairs, right? So, his partner can't be far off, and if Hollow is nearby like Death sensed then he's fighting two opponents. I can handle this guy." Kaneki explained.
Tohka looked from Kaneki to Amon, before nodding. "Alright, can you give me a distraction? I just need a few seconds."
Kaneki nodded "I'll take care of it."
He kicked off the ground hard, sprinting towards Amon who lifted his weapon and prepared to strike at Kaneki. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Tohka begin to circle around to get past him.
"Oh no you don't!" Amon said as he began to correct his swing from smashing Kaneki to side-swiping Tohka, but Kaneki leapt into the way and grabbed Amon's arm, preventing the swing as Tohka made it past.
"Dammit!" Amon shouted to himself as Tohka's footsteps began to recede into the tunnel. He yelled as he ripped his arms free from Kaneki's grip and sent him flying back.
"Great, Tohka got through! Now… I just need to figure out how to end this fight and join them as soon as I can." Kaneki thought to himself as he slid to a stop. He looked up just in time to raise his arms and block a blow from Amon which sent him flying again.
Meanwhile, back with Death. The Guardian lifted his scythe and began to slowly walk towards Mado, the agent cackled as he lifted his whip and tried to lash it at Death. He sighed as he lifted the scythe and severed a portion of the whip in a blindingly fast swipe.
"What?"
Death adjusted his grip, leaving the blade of his scythe parallel to the ground as he grabbed the handle with both hands, he dashed forward, ready to cut Mado in half. Right before he made contact Hollow's scythe blade caught his an inch from Mado's chest and deflected the blow, sending the weapon spinning out of Death's grip as Hollow slid by underneath him. Mado smiled as he delivered a quick kick to Death's chest and sent him staggering backward.
"Hollow…" Death said, the anger in his voice rising.
"What's the matter old man? Can't keep up?" Hollow said with a smile as he stood up to his full height and shouldered his weapon.
Death held his hand out and his scythe flew back to his grip, he looked up at Hollow, the anger evident in his eyes, which caused the young Defiler to flinch in surprise. Death darted from his standing position again as he readied the blade and leveled it at Hollow's throat. Right as he made contact Mado intercepted his blow with the remains of his whip.
"Damn!" Death grunted as he staggered back from the whiplash.
"Death!" Tohka shouted as she arrived on the scene.
"Finally, … I need you to take care of him." Death said, nodding towards Mado. "He keeps getting in the way."
Tohka nodded before turning her focus onto Mado.
"Oh, you're handing me off to another dance partner?" Mado asked as he looked from Death to Tohka.
Hollow glared at Death as the Guardian regained his composure.
"You really think you can take me on your own?"
"I know I can." Death lowered the blade of his weapon behind him again as he prepared to charge. "Get ready son, time to show me what you can really do."
