Spencer got home a couple of days later. Lorelai was asleep on the couch. Hailey had managed to crawl into the kitchen.

Spencer went and picked her up. "Starting to wander I see." He said with a smile. He kissed her forehead. "And you don't seem to have a fever anymore." He walked back into the living room and went and knelt by the couch. "Lorelai." He said softly.

Lorelai sat up quickly. "What? Hailey?" She said

"I've got her. She is okay." Spencer said

Lorelai took a breath.

"Have you been sleeping?" He asked

"Not really no," Lorelai said

"Okay. Go. Shower and go take a nap. And I don't want to hear any arguments." He said

Lorelai handed him her phone. "It will go off when she needs another dose of the antibiotics. They are on the kitchen counter." She told him before she went and showered and went to take a nap.

Spencer bathed Hailey and got her dressed. He gave her a dose of her medication when he needed to and rocked her to sleep before he went and showered and crawled into bed with Lorelai.

They both woke up a few hours later. Lorelai went and checked on the baby who was still asleep. She went back to bed.

Spencer smiled at her. "You are a great mother."

"You are an amazing dad," Lorelai said

Spencer smiled. "Now. Let me see your wrist."

Lorelai sighed but unwrapped it for him to see.

"Well. It doesn't look too bad. Have you been icing it often since we talked?" Spencer asked

"Yeah." She said

Spencer nodded and kissed her head. "Do you want to talk about why you sounded upset when you agreed to it on the phone the other day?"

"Nothing to talk about," Lorelai said.

Spencer picked her up and sat her in his lap and wrapped his arms around her. "Lor. Come on. We have to talk about this."

"I told you my reason. You chose not to believe it." She said

"Too busy?" He asked

"Yes. Same thing I told John. Neither of you believed me. I don't mean this to come off harsh or mean but when you're gone so much I feel like a single mother sometimes. And being a single mom is a lot of work." Lorelai said

Spencer let out a breath. "I'm sorry that is how you feel. But that is why you have people to turn to. Rebecca & Theo, Rachel, Hunter, and John. Not to mention the new sitter. They would drop everything to come and take Hailey for a few hours so you can have time to yourself. We agreed that you would do that when you need the help." Spencer said kissing her shoulder.

Lorelai nodded.

"I know you have a hard time asking for help but you can't do it alone. There is that quote. 'It takes a village to raise a child.' That is accurate. You need to ask for help," Spencer said.

She just leaned against him. Not saying anything. She knew he was right.

"Now. When was the last time you iced it?" Spencer asked

"A couple of hours ago." She said

"Okay. Why don't you ice it again." He said softly

Lorelai went and did so sitting on the couch and looking at the fireplace.

Spencer checked on Hailey and came out to the living room and checked on her.

"You okay?" He asked

"Just thinking." She said

"About?" He asked

"What happens when we are both away and she gets sick? Yes, we will have a good sitter, but she won't be her mom or dad." Lorelai said

"Having second thoughts about returning to work?" He asked

"Just thinking. I have no idea how my dad and Emily do it. JJ I can understand a little more. Will is always here." Lorelai said

"I know your dad agonized over it for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if he still does." Spencer said

Lorelai nodded.

"You could talk to him about it? Talk to Emily?" Spencer said

Lorelai nodded again.

Spencer kissed her head. "Just want to reiterate. Whatever you decided. I support."

Lorelai smiled and leaned her head on him. "I know."

Hailey started to cry. Spencer got up and went and got her and brought her out to them.

She was babbling happily.

"Think she just wanted to be part of the fun out here," Spencer said sitting back down next to Lorelai.

Lorelai chuckled. "So much fun out here."

After she was done icing her wrist Lorelai went and put the ice pack back in the freezer and rejoined the two of them. Spencer had moved to a blanket on the floor to let Hailey play. Lorelai sat with them and the three of them played together for a while.
