Penny came into the bathroom a few minutes later and saw her sitting on the floor sobbing into her knees.

"Hey. What's wrong?" Penny asked

Lorelai just continued to sob. Penny got down in front of her and wrapped her in a tight hug. Lorelai sobbed into her.

Lorelai calmed down a bit.

"Is it our boy genius's ass I have to kick?" Penny asked

Lorelai chuckled and wipes at her eyes. "No."

"Is it about what happened today? Derek told me. But told me you are okay." Penny said.

"I'm okay. Wasn't physically hurt. Yes. Abit shaken up but that's not the problem." Lorelai said

"What is it?" Penny asked

"It's my dad and me. Lately. I don't know I feel like we are drifting apart. Then I had to come clean about the fake IDs thing. I'm assuming Derek told you about that too?" Lorelai asked

Penny nodded "He did. But you have been in trouble before."

"Yes. But this feels different. It's not just this situation. I just feel like since I moved out and became a mom. And all the changes in his life too. That we are not as close as we used to be." Lorelai said

"Have you told him how you feel?" Penny asked

"I tried. He says everything is fine." Lorelai said

"But you don't feel that way," Penny said. "You need to tell him that. Maybe he doesn't see it. He is a man after all."

"He is a profiler. He reads people better than the average man." Lorelai pointed out

"True. But sometimes when it comes to our own things we are more oblivious." Penny pointed out

Lorelai nodded.

"Now. It's time to get off this floor and go out there and do your job. And when you are ready talk to your dad. Corner him in his office or at home. And tell him how you feel." Penny said standing up herself and reaching a hand down to Lorelai.

Lorelai took a breath and took her hand letting Penny help her off the ground. She looked in the mirror and washed her face a bit before the two of them went out. Penny went back to her office and Lorelai went back to her desk and sat down. She pulled out some paperwork for another case and started in on that.

She got a text a little later from her dad

Dad: "I'd like to see you in my office."

Lorelai: "I have paperwork. When I'm done."

Dad: "Lorelai. I'm not asking. I'm telling."

Lorelai: "Is it about work?"

Dad: "No. But I know your hurting and that will affect your work. We need to fix this"

Lorelai: "When it started affecting my work we can talk about it."

Dad: "It already has Lorelai."

Lorelai ignored him at that point and got back to her paperwork.

Lunchtime came and Emily looked at her. "Want to go box?"

Lorelai nodded. "Yes." She said. She got up and the two of them went.

The two of them got ready and went out and put the boxing gloves on. They started to box.

"You know. No matter what your dad loves you right?" Emily asked

"I know that yes." She said as she dodged a hit.

"And you know that no matter how frustrated he is he will always be there for you," Emily said.

"He is not frustrated with me," Lorelai said managing to get a jab to Emily's shoulder.

"He said that?" Emily asked as she dodged the next hit.

"Yup," Lorelai said as she jabbed at her side twice.

"You are getting better," Emily said catching her breath

"Thanks," Lorelai said letting her.

They got back to boxing a couple of minutes later.

"To be honest. I have felt us drifting for a while now." Lorelai said

"Oh?" Emily asked

"Yeah. It started small. When I moved out. Became a mother. A wife. And he has had a lot of changes. Good changes. And of course, I'm not expecting things to be the same. But…" she said

"But you still need your dad," Emily said.

Lorelai nodded and got distracted and got hit in the shoulder.

Emily stopped. "You okay?"

"Yes. You have hit me much harder before." Lorelai said with a smile

Emily chuckled. "Oh, I know. But you got distracted."

"Hard not to with this subject," Lorelai said.

"Look. Your relationship with your dad. You know I would never interfere. But do you want me to mediate a conversation?" Emily asked

"No. Honestly, right now I'm avoiding him. I got upset and said something. It wasn't disrespectful but you know when you say how your feeling and regret it?" Lorelai asked

"I mean. Kind of yes. But you should never feel bad for telling someone how you feel. Especially when that someone is your dad." Emily told her

Lorelai nodded. Her stomach growled.

"And you need to get something to eat," Emily said.

"I'm not hungry," Lorelai said.

"Bull," Emily said as she started to take off her gloves.

"Em. I promise…" She started but Emily gave her a look.

"You pick that up from my dad?" Lorelai asked with a small smirk.

"Funny," Emily said. "No. It comes from becoming a parent."

Lorelai chuckled. "How is Lily? I need to come to see her and Jack." She started taking off her gloves as well.

"They are both good. Getting along. Now that I have dug my head out of the sand and started to be the mom I need to be." Emily said

"Hey. I'm not perfect either," Lorelai said. They both headed out and went and got something to eat at the coffee shop near the office.

"So. I know I'm not your mother." Emily started after they had their food. "But I love you like you are a daughter so I'm going to say what I think."

Lorelai looked up and nodded listening.

"You're done avoiding your dad. Avoiding him isn't going to fix the problem. If I have to force you two into a room together I will do it." Emily said

A small smile appeared on Lorelai's face.

"Because your relationship with your dad is far too important," Emily said

"Understood," Lorelai said.

"Good," Emily said

"When I was pregnant. I had a really vivid dream. With my birth mother and Hailey. My mom Hailey. And after telling me that I was going to be a great mom and that she was always going to protect baby Hailey from where she is. She told me to tell my dad to not screw things up with you. That you are a good woman and she appreciated how well you were taking care of Jack, Rachel, and Me. So don't ever think less of the effect you have on me. You came into my life first as a co-worker and friend to family and now you are marrying my dad. I don't believe in using the term 'stepparent' for someone who has someone's back from the beginning. So. As far as I'm concerned you are the mother figure that I need in my life." Lorelai said

Emily smiled. "Thank you. That means a lot."

"I have the same love and respect I do for you that I did Hailey," Lorelai added.

Emily smiled. "I'm glad."

They finished their food and paid. They headed back to the office. "Go. Talk to him." Emily ordered gently.

Lorelai smiled and nodded. She took a breath and went to his office and knocked.

"Enter." He called out

Lorelai went in and closed the door.

Aaron looked up. "Lorelai. Hi. Sit." He said softly

Lorelai did so.

"What makes you think I am drifting?" He asked

"I know things are supposed to change. Being that I'm married and a mother and with you and Emily getting married. And while change is normal. I just. I don't know. Lately, it seems that we aren't as close. And I don't want any changes to cause that. And I feel since last night you have been angry with me and you say you're over it now." Lorelai told him

Aaron listened. "I'm sorry that you feel that way. I agree we haven't been spending a lot of time together lately. And I'm sure I am at least partly at fault for that. And Lorelai I'm not happy with finding out you got a third fake ID. But that was the past. There is a consequence. You're not arguing about it. It's been dealt with. I'm not holding onto that annoyance." He told her

Lorelai nodded. "Yes. I'm sure us not spending time together is on both of us, not just you. And I guess I have no reason not to trust you when you say you are over it."

"Lorelai. Do you maybe feel that way because -you are holding onto the guilt?" He asked

Lorelai looked down.

Aaron nodded. "Lorelai. We all do stupid things when we are young. It's part of growing up. And sometimes yes we repeat the things we shouldn't do. The guilt you are feeling is because you know you messed up. But. You will deal with the consequences. And it's forgiven."

Lorelai nodded.

"You did tell Spencer?" He asked

"Yes. And he lectured as well." Lorelai said

Aaron nodded. "And despite the issue with you ending up having your gun to your head. Everything worked out. He is going to jail. And will have to face a trial."

"And what if he uses that I got fake IDs to his advantage in court?" Lorelai asked

"We will deal with that then. But the judge will know teens do stupid things." He said

"Yes. But I was an agent already when I did those things." Lorelai said

"Well. If it happens it happens but we will deal with that at the time. Holding onto the guilt will not change whatever the outcome is." Aaron said

Lorelai nodded.

"So. Are you going to let it go?" Aaron asked

"I'll try." She said

"Good." He said.

"I should get back to paperwork." She said

Aaron nodded. "Go."

She went and sat at her desk.

Emily looked across at her. "Everything get worked out?"

"I think so yes," Lorelai said.

"Good," Emily said

They all finished up their paperwork that day and headed home at the end of the day.
