In the small amount of time the two had met they had already become so close, most likely because of the rehabilitation, no matter how short that time was. Or perhaps it was due to an accidental spell Tsuna may have cast to speed up the rehabilitation.
Either way, they were closer now.
Not exactly buddy-buddy close. But close enough.
Bermuda sighed tiredly as he carefully watched his surroundings, "Is this necessary, Tsunayoshi?" He asked nervously
Tsuna hummed happily, "Quite so, Bermuda," He responded cheerfully, "I can't let you walk around in rags like this." He continued looking around for a shop that would work best.
The undead pursed his lips in confusion, "My clothes aren't that bad." He pulled at one of his sleeves
The brunet looked at him incredulously, "Be quiet." He huffed before turning around again, he pouted while walking away.
Bermuda laughed softly at the pouting mage. He walked closely next to the brunet, his fingers brushing against Tsuna's fingers every once in a while.
The mage stopped walking, "Let's try this place next, Bermuda." He pointed at a quaint boutique that was off to the side.
Bermuda simply listened and followed the other into the next store. He looked around and silently appraised the clothing out for display.
A young woman with ginger hair walked up to the two cheerfully, "Hello, my name is Kyoko," She began while reaching out a hand for Tsuna, "I can help you today." She smiled, a light blush crossing her face when the brunet in front of her smiled.
Tsuna shook the young woman's hand gently, "Thank you, Kyoko," He bowed his head to show his respect, "We're here to find clothes for this person next to me." He gestured toward Bermuda
Kyoko nodded her head, "I'll see what I can find," She looked over the undead in appraisement, "I'll need to take his measurements before we do anything though."
The brunet smiled, "Take as much time as you need, Kyoko." He sat down in a nearby chair and watched in amusement as Bermuda was taken behind the curtain.
Another girl, seemingly younger than Kyoko, walked up nervously, "Haru can help with fabric choices." She fiddled with her fingers and carefully watched Tsuna's reaction
Tsuna hummed in curiosity, "You can sew?" He asked, "That's very impressive." He stood up and waited for the girl to show him where they'd be going
Haru beamed in excitement, "Yes, Haru sews!" She began while walking off, "No one ever calls Haru impressive." She admits while showing different outfits
The brunet hummed in approval as he looked at the impressively crafted outfits, "How strange, you seem to be very talented." He commented as he looked at an outfit that caught his interest
The girl seemed to become even giddier after that comment, "Haru made that outfit," She said when she saw where the brunet was looking, "The details on it haven't been decided yet, unfortunately."
Tsuna looked at the outfit, "Is it for sale?" He asked curiously while gently feeling the fabric.
Haru blinked a few times before responding, "O-Of course!" She responded eagerly, "Do you want details? Is this being fitted for the man with Kyoko? When will you need it?" The questions spilled out rapidly
The brunet laughed, "Yes, this is for my companion and we will want details," He began, "We don't need it urgently, so take your time." He smiled as he turned to look at the girl.
The girl looked like she had a fire in her eyes, "Let's talk about the details then."
The two of them fell into a conversation about how the outfit should look. They both came up with good ideas for the outfit and ended their conversation with satisfaction.
Tsuna took notice of the two people walking up and smiled, "Done already?" He asked
Bermuda looked dead on his feet, pun only slightly intended, "How does a fitting take that long?" He gently moved closer to Tsuna, "I certainly don't remember them lasting that long." His lips twisted into a grimace as he seemed to move into his thoughts.
The brunet held back his laughter, "Is there an outfit he could wear out of the store?" He asked Kyoko with hope clear in his voice
The young woman nodded, "Yes, there are several he could wear." She gestured at Haru and handed the girl a piece of paper with some numbers on them.
Haru nodded and rushed out of the room only to come back a minute later with quite a few different outfits, "Here they are, Miss Kyoko."
Tsuna looked at Bermuda apologetically when they both saw the many outfits that the undead would have to try on.
After a while, they found a good outfit that they could buy then and there. It was a suit but it was plain black along with the undershirt and tie. Bermuda's hair was slicked back except for a few loose strands of hair.
"Wow," Tsuna mumbled under his breath as a blush slowly crept across his face.
Bermuda looked at him smugly, "See something you like?"
The brunet's head snapped up, eyes wide in embarrassment before a sly smile played on his lips, "Yes, I do," he responded cheekily, his blush barely going down at all.
Bermuda's cheeks became a light pink color, far different from his usual pale, cold skin, "I didn't expect that," he looked away slightly, ignoring the brunet's, in his opinion, cute giggles
"Obviously," Tsuna rolled his eyes playfully, "Come on, let's pay and go home-" Tsuna stopped himself before continuing his sentence, "To the cottage," he finished quietly.
Bermuda didn't respond this time, he was a tad bit nervous and confused. He would find out later or when Tsuna saw fit to tell him though. He didn't want to push the kind mage.
They quickly paid and left for the cottage and when they got there it was quiet, more so than usual.
"Is something wrong, Tsunayoshi?" Bermuda asked as he closed the door gently.
"Hm? No, I'm fine," Tsuna responded quickly
Bermuda put a hand on the mage's shoulder, "If you're sure..." He responded, his voice portraying how he truly felt.
"Bermuda, I'm fine," he paused before continuing, "It's just, I miss home..."
The man raised an eyebrow, "Home? I thought you were a traveling mage?"
Tsuna sighed, "I am, it's a complicated thing."
Bermuda moved to the dining table, his chair scraping the floor lightly, "I am more than willing to listen to you, Tsunayoshi." He responded sincerely, his eyes staring into honey-brown eyes intensely.
Tsuna's face gained a red tint at the kindness, "Alright then..." He trailed off as he looked into the undead's eyes with the same intensity.
Bermuda nodded his head, his eyes following the brunet's movements to sit down in front of him.
The brunet began his explanation with pursed lips, "Well, all mages have permanent homes, they are called huts," he traced the wood table with his finger gently. "We generally don't live with family and have to learn many things on our own," he explained as simply as possible.
"Like cooking?" Bermuda asked, a small smile tugging on his lips.
Tsuna laughed lightly, "Yes, like cooking," his smile stayed on his face as he continued his explanation, "But as we get older, like maybe around 100 years old, we summon a familiar."
Bermuda nodded slowly in understanding, "Do you have one?" he asked curiously.
A fond smile graced the mage's face, "Mhm, his name is Natsu."
Bermuda smiled as Tsuna continued
"He's the best familiar one could have."
"Why isn't he with you here?"
Tsuna leaned forward, "After living with our familiars for about 50 years, we get the choice to either travel or stay. Of course, it can be past 50 years, you just need that or more time with your familiar to really bond with them and show them how things work in your home, what magic to use, or even how to use that magic just in case."
He took a breath before continuing, "I stayed with him a bit longer than other mages would but I don't regret it."
Bermuda nodded his head again, "I'm quite excited for when I get to meet this Natsu," He tilted his head slightly, "Is that all for traveling mages?"
Tsuna laughed in amusement, "There's more but that's just the simpler basics."
Bermuda blanked, "That's the simpler basics?" He clarified
Tsuna nodded his head, "There's more like runes and incantations but you would have to be pretty well-versed in Italian for that."
Bermuda smirked playfully, "Lucky for you I am." He responded proudly
Tsuna laughed happily as the two began to bask in the relaxing warmth surrounding them. Just as they were about to relax further a crash was heard outside
"What in the world?!" Tsuna exclaimed as he stood up
Bermuda also stood up and started getting ready to fight.
After a moment of waiting, Tsuna slowly began to move, "I'm going out there," he said quietly to the undead man.
Bermuda looked over with worry evident in his eyes, "That's a horrible idea, you could get hurt," he responded quickly as he began to worry over his sweet mage.
The brunet nearly laughed at the worry, "Bermuda, it's cute you care and all," he said as he put a hand on the other's cheek causing the undead man's heart to skip a beat, "But I got this, bye." And before Tsuna could be stopped, he was already out the door
"Tsunayoshi!" Bermuda yelled as he began to run after him he paused to see a large fox and Tsuna trying to calm it down, "...What exactly is going on?"
Tsuna looked over at the man, "I have no clue."
Bermuda watched as the small mage activated a spell and watched as something familiar happened.
He widened his eyes as he realized it, "Are you," He paused, "Bringing it back?"
Tsuna gave a quick nod to Bermuda and continued, Bermuda had wanted to ask more but decided against it, not wanting to disrupt the mage's concentration
The procedure went on for about an hour before it came to an end with a bright glow and in the place of the fox was a man with long black hair.
Tsuna just stared in slight shock, "He looks like the kid who stopped by on Bermuda's first day but more...mature?" he mumbled gently.
Bermuda was also shocked.
Tsuna wasn't sure why though. Did he always also see the kid that day?
In the undead man's state of shock, one word passed his lips, "Fon?"
The brunet looked at his companion, who seemed to be staying, "You know this man?" he asked as he covered the man, demon fox, or Fon apparently, with a blanket because he was naked.
Bermuda looked back at the brunet and nodded slowly, "Yes, he was in my party when we were... alive?" he said, almost questioning whether or not they truly ever died, "Also, was I naked when you..."
Tsuna smiled at the innocent question and turned to Bermuda, "Nope, you were wearing the clothes you woke up in."
Bermuda let out a quiet sigh of relief at the confirmation, "What will you do about Fon though?"
Tsuna hummed in response, "I haven't decided yet," he used some magic to bring Fon inside and onto the bed.
He turned to his companion and smile, "Could you run to the market real quick and grab him some clothes?" he asked.
Bermuda thought about it, wanting to say no. He just wasn't comfortable with leaving Tsuna alone, even if it is Fon, "It's better than Reborn I guess..." he mumbled to reassure himself.
Tsuna looked at the other in confusion, "Hm?"
Bermuda froze and looked at the mage. He was quick to escape any questions about his former party members, "Alright, I'll go," he started towards the door before pausing and looking at Tsuna. He gave a small smile, "I'll be back soon, Tsunayoshi."
With that, he left Tsuna a little flustered, "Bermuda..." He said under his breath in a fond tone but quickly turned back to Fon. Tsuna was trying to get rid of the fluttering feeling dancing around his heart. He began to transport the fox demon into the cottage and onto the couch near the dining room.
Fon was quick to wake up and distracted Tsuna. He sat up in defense, ready for any possible threat.
Tsuna quickly felt that fluttering again when Fon sat up, practically showing off his muscles and tattoo circling his arm, and looked at Tsuna.
The mage gently coughed into his fist, "Hello," he said to the confused man.
The man analyzed the brunet carefully, "Where am I?" He asked in a polite yet defensive voice.
Tsuna cleared his throat, "You're in my cottage," he responded soothingly.
Fon didn't look any less defensive.
That meant those were a bad choice of words, huh?
"My name is Tsunayoshi and you're, Fon, correct?" Tsuna didn't doubt Bermuda but he still had to be sure.
That was his mistake seeing as Fon began to become more defensive.
"How do you know that?" Fon asked quickly, ready to attack the brunet.
But before anything else happened, Bermuda was there, standing in front of Tsuna as a way of protection.
This made Fon quite surprised, "Bermuda?"
The man himself only nodded and threw some clothes at Fon, "Get changed," Bermuda's voice was cold.
Tsuna began to worry but he couldn't say anything because Fon had already stood up, bearing it all to the world.
"Fon!" Bermuda said covering Tsuna's eyes
"Oh, apologies," Fon smiled, "I assumed since we are all men here it would be fine,"
Bermuda was seething at this point, "Go somewhere else to change."
Fon nodded and left the room.
Bermuda reluctantly dropped his hand off of Tsuna's eyes.
"You alright, Bermuda?"
The man looked down at the mage and sighed, "I'm fine."
"You look out of breath," Tsuna smiled in response, "I'll make some tea to calm your heart."
Bermuda nodded as Tsuna went to the cabinet, "May I ask something, Tsunayoshi?" Tsuna hummed in response, "How come Fon can walk immediately and I wasn't?"
Tsuna turned to look at the man, "Well, Undeads don't necessarily touch the ground and so that means you wouldn't have walked in so many years,"
Bermuda nodded as he watched the mage.
Tsuna began making some tea while continuing his explanation, "Fon was a demon fox, so he had been walking around for so long. Plus he had muscle tissue, unlike Undeads."
Now Bermuda was a tad bit confused, "He walked on all fours, didn't he?"
Tsuna nodded, "Demon foxes are different from regular foxes, they can assume the body of a human to lure out their prey."
"Then why did you use that magic spell on him if he could access his human form?" Bermuda asked.
Tsuna turned around and placed the pot of water on the stove, and lit some fire magic, "They are much more feral than most monsters," he smiled to himself, "Plus, they have different magic types that can make them more dangerous."
Bermuda nodded, "I believe I get it."
Tsuna smiled as he turned around
"I also get it," A voice rang through the room gently.
Both Tsuna and Bermuda looked toward the hallway where Fon was now standing.
"Though it was a bit confusing," Fon smiled and was quickly distracted by the teapot, "Are you making tea?"
Tsuna nodded in response, "Would you like some?"
Fon smiled at the mage, "That would be lovely, Tsunayoshi," He was now wearing a red garb that seemed to be from the east. Not only that, but his hair had been put into a braid
"If I may, are you from Yula, Fon?" Tsuna asked cautiously, not wanting to make the man angry or upset again. It's been proven that he can be dangerous if need be.
The man blanched before smiling politely again, "Yes, I am. How did you know?" he curiously asked in response.
Tsuna smiled, "The people from there have distinct features if that makes any sense," He waved his hand slightly which made another tea cup float out of the cabinet, "Also, you look comfortable in their traditional clothing,"
"You have good eyes, Tsunayoshi," Fon complimented.
"I've simply been around many places. You learn more about different cultures while doing so."
The man with braided hair seemed to make the connection rather quickly, "You're a traveling mage?" he asked.
"Mhm, I am. I've already explained it to Bermuda, but I don't mind doing so again." As the tea finished he brought three cups over to where he was and put each of them on the table.
"As long as you don't mind," Fon grabbed the teapot and brought it over, he poured each of the cups some tea as well, "I've never seen this method of tea-making."
"Ah, it's because I used magic instead of the usual way."
The man —or should Tsuna be saying demon fox?— hummed with interest clear in his voice, "I see, I'm quite excited to taste it then."
Bermuda narrowed his eyes at the sudden behavior change.
Tsuna took notice of this and placed his hand on top of Bermuda's. His attention turned to Fon but his hand didn't leave the undead's.
The demon fox —or is it supposed to be man now?— slowly took a sip of his tea after blowing on it first.
Tsuna began his explanation of traveling mages after getting the go-ahead from Fon. The brunet delved into his explanation, a nagging feeling in the back of his mind saying that this was far from the last time.
Once he finished his explanation the demon fox didn't look lost but rather awed at the newfound information.
Fon smiled politely, "Verde, a fellow party member, would have been fascinated by this," he admitted though there seemed to be an underlying tone of mischief.
The brunet nodded, noticing how Bermuda tensed at the name.
He didn't want the building tenseness to last so he began to talk of something else, "Fon, I'm wondering if you would prefer to be called a man or a demon fox still?"
Fon hummed as he continued to sip at his tea, "Either would be fine since they both represent a part of me," he responded smoothly while sipping his tea again. "And might I say that this tea is absolutely amazing, Tsunayoshi?"
The brunet smiled brightly as helmet Bermuda intertwine their fingers together, "Thank you, Fon," he said. "That's kind of you."
Bermuda cleared his throat loudly, "I assume that you'll be heading for Yula, correct, Fon?"
Fon shook his head, "It would far more interesting to stay here, in my opinion," he paused slightly. "Would that be okay with you, Tsunayoshi?"
Tsuna shook his head, "I have no problems with you staying with us," he responded while looking to the side. "And you, Bermuda?"
"None at all," was the response the other two got from a clearly agitated Bermuda.
The mage should've known that he would regret agreeing to this, but he also thrives off of the chaos at times.
