Disclaimer: I don't own the 2004 animated film Shark Tale and all rights goes to DreamWorks Animation SKG. Shark Tale has been one of my favorite movies since my childhood, and it still is today. I've enjoyed that movie many times since I was a kid, and I still enjoy it today. Since I love the movie so much, I decided to do a whole retelling of the movie that is called When A Little Fish Tells A Great White Lie with new characters, new scenes, and different dialogue, and my OC belongs to me. When A Little Fish Tells A Great White Lie
Chapter 6: Family Estrangement
In the wastelands, three members of the mafia are looking for Lenny, Frankie, and Teresa under Don Lino's orders since he has learned that they didn't came back to the RMS Titanic yesterday just as they are wondering they could be at right now while they are completely unaware of what just happened yesterday. Soon, they quickly find Frankie's corpse on the ground in the middle of the wastelands, and they quickly realize that he has passed away, much to their shock. One of the mobsters picks up his corpse and begins carrying him back to the RMS Titanic while other two mobsters continue to search for Lenny and Teresa. Also, they began wondering how Frankie died while they didn't even notice that Frankie got killed by the anchor.
At the RMS Titanic, Don Lino is in the living room along with Luca and Yvette, and he is playing some chess with them. Also, he already knows that he hasn't seen Lenny, Frankie, and Teresa since yesterday right after he ordered Frankie to tutor Lenny with Teresa's help and wonders where they are while he is completely unaware of what just happened yesterday while his two henchmen wonders the same thing and is completely unaware of it. Suddenly, the mobster enters the living room with Frankie's corpse, and Don Lino and his two minions become very devastated and begin to wonder who was responsible for his death as well as still wonder where Lenny and Teresa are.
Don Lino gasped in shock. "Oh, my goodness! Frankie! What…What…What happened to my son?!"
"Boss, you're not gonna believe what you're about to hear, but…but your son Frankie…has died. He's now dead" explained the great white shark mobster.
"But how did Frankie pass away?" asked Luca.
"I have no idea how he exactly died, Luca and Yvette." explained great white shark mobster
"But somebody must be responsible for his death, and how Frankie exactly died is a mystery," said Yvette.
"Well, whoever is responsible for my oldest kid's death, I'm gonna make them pay!" said Don Lino just as he became very angry. " Nobody does something like this to my own kids and gets away with it! Nobody! I have always loved my three kids so much, and I've always protected them and took good care of them along with my wife Mildred. Somebody who is responsible for Frankie's death, I'll have revenge! I will!"
Don Lino was really angry since he would never allow anybody to hurt his kids, especially if one of them were actually responsible for their death, and he would get revenge on somebody who was actually responsible for Frankie's death. However, his expression didn't last very long, and he soon became very devastated over his oldest son's death just as he began shedding tears. He got up from the couch and stared at Frankie's dead body while the mobster put him on the couch, and he gently rubbed his cheek and nuzzled his head. Also, his two loyal henchmen begin comforting him while they are devastated over his passing as well as the mobster. Also, he still hopes that Lenny and Teresa would be found somehow.
"Well, what about Lenny and Teresa? Where are they?" asked Don Lino.
"Boss, those two still haven't been found yet, and we're doing the best we can to look for them," said the great white shark mobster.
"I hope that my son and my daughter will eventually be found sooner or later, and that those two will be okay," said Don Lino. "Lenny…Teresa…Frankie…Oh, dear. Oh, my goodness."
A few days later, the rest of the members of the mafia had already learned about Frankie's death, and they all became very devastated and they began preparing a funeral service for him while some of the members of the mafia continued to search for Lenny and Teresa. They decorate the hallways, deck, and ballroom, make invitations, and the priest and priestesses of the mafia wrap up Frankie's corpse in linen and put him a casket, and they practice some music to honor his memory along with Luca who plays the piano and Yvette who plays the saxophone while Don Lino is in his and his wife's bedroom staring out from one of the windows in devastation.
Soon, the preparations for Frankie's funeral are now finished, and the funeral will be held in the catholic church. Two sawshark butlers and two nurse shark maids proceed to deliver the invitations to the ones who have been invited to attend the funeral, and they are the other crime bosses and their own mafias of the Five Families such as Don Ira Feinberg and his leopard shark mafia who live at the RMS Carpathia, Don Veltroni and her hammerhead shark mafia who live at the RMS Lusitania, Don Phillip Salvatore and his killer whale mafia who live at the RMS Transylvania, and Don Judith Hicks and her swordfish mafia who live in the RMS Majestic. They all agree to attend the funeral.
Soon, the other crime bosses and their own mafias arrive at the RMS Titanic while all of the members of the great white shark mafia begin gathering at the catholic church for Frankie's funeral, and they also begin gathering at the catholic church along with Don Feinberg's wife Esther and his son Jeremiah, Don Veltroni's husband Giuseppe and her daughter Fiorenza, Don Salvatore's wife Odette and his son Malcolm, and Don Hicks' husband Roland and her daughter Imogen. Also, Luca and Yvette went to the catholic church as well.
In the catholic church, everybody takes their seats, and they have all gathered for the funeral, and the priests and priestesses are on the stage along with Don Lino's two minions and some of the mobsters who are going to play the music to honor Frankie's memory, and the casket that Frankie's corpse is now in is on the stage as well. Also, a sawshark butler and a nurse shark maid puts up memorial photo frames of Frankie on the stage.
Soon, Don Lino enters the catholic church along with his father Leonardo and his mother Shelly as well as a great white shark high priestess named High Priestess Valentina who is the leader of the priests and the priestesses. Don Lino and his parents take their seats at the front seats along with the other crime bosses and High Priestess Valentina went up the stage and went right behind the speech stand where she began doing her speech about Frankie's death as well as giving her blessings to him.
High Priestess Valentina cleared her throat. "Hello, everybody. We have gathered here today to mourn the loss of Frankie, the oldest child of Don Edward Lino and his wife Mildred Lino. Frankie has been loved by his own family and everybody who is part of the criminal underworld so much. He was the greatest, and he has always been raised with love and care ever since his childhood along with his other two siblings Lenny and Teresa, and we will honor his life after he tragically passed away. Now, Don Edward Lino will now be doing his eulogy for his son."
Don Lino got up from his seat, and he went up the stage and went right behind the speech stand where he began doing his eulogy for Frankie while High Priestess Valentina kindly moved from the speech stand.
"Thank you very much, High Priestess Valentina," said Don Lino. "The Five Families are all here to honor my oldest kid Frankie who has sadly passed away last week, and somebody must be responsible for his death, whoever it is. My beautiful wife and I have always worked together to raise him, protect him, and take good care of him along with my other two kids Lenny and Teresa who went missing, and hopefully my other two kids would be found. Frankie will be missed and he is in a better place now. Rest in peace, my dearest son."
Soon, Don Lino gets finished with doing his eulogy for Frankie, and everybody begins clapping their fins and his two henchmen and some of the mobsters begin playing the music to honor his memory just as everybody mourned the loss of him just as they all shed tears. They begin praying for his soul, and they all know that even though Frankie has passed away, he will always live in each of their hearts.
Later on that day during the funeral, everybody has already left the catholic church and they're now at the deck where it was time for High Priestess Valentina as well as the priests and priestesses to put Frankie in his final resting place while they all witness it. Also, Leonardo and Shelly were right in front of Frankie's casket, and Shelly was silently crying on Leonardo's shoulder while he comforted her and shed tears as well.
"Nomine Patri, et Fili, et Spiritus Sancti." said High Priestess Valentina.
Then, three of the priests and three of the priestesses picked up Frankie's casket and carried it to the edge of the deck while High Priestess Valentina held a catholic bible, and everybody watched. At the edge of the deck, they tilted the casket over, and Frankie's wrapped up corpse slid out of the casket. He gently floated right up to the surface of the Atlantic Ocean where it served as his final resting place, and the surface serves as the final resting place for the deceased. Don Lino's parents watched him float out of the ocean, and Don Lino, his two minions, the other crime bosses, and everybody else watched him float out of the ocean as well.
Later on, back inside the RMS Titanic, the funeral reception begins and it's being held at the ballroom. Don Feinberg sings the song Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Milder to honor Frankie's memory and soon gets finished singing the song, and Don Veltroni holds a bouquet of beautiful flowers which is a blessing for Frankie, Don Salvatore holds a memorial plaque which is also a blessing for Frankie, and Don Hicks holds a memorial card which is also a blessing for Frankie.
"Frankie, we'll miss you very much." said Don Feinberg.
"To Frankie." said the mobsters while they held their glass cups to toast for Frankie's memory.
At one of the tables, some mobsters are having a conversation about that even though Don Lino and his mafia doesn't know who was really responsible for Frankie's death, they and their own mafias have eventually learned the identity of somebody who was actually responsible for Frankie's death while they completely unaware of the true cause of his death.
Meanwhile, Don Lino was sitting on a chair during the funeral reception while Luca and Yvette were right by his side and comforted him. Also, the other crime bosses' husbands and wives all swam up to him along with their sons and daughters, and they began talking about Frankie's death and gave their own blessings to him of how he will rest in peace. He expressed their gratitude to them for their kind thoughts for his son's passing, and they then leave while he continued to feel very devastated over the loss of Frankie and continued to feel very depressed that Lenny and Teresa had gone missing just as he hoped that they could be found by the members of his mafia somehow.
"Oh, Lenny. Teresa, my little sweetie pie." said Don Lino. A great white shark mobster is about to say something about Frankie's death and how he will be missed, but Don Lino is too depressed to answer him and motions him to leave, which he does so.
"Don't worry, boss." said Luca. He gets a teapot and pours some tea in his teacup, but he doesn't notice that he didn't pour any tea in his teacup at all and the tea dissolved within the water, and he began stirring his teacup with a teaspoon while he doesn't know that there isn't any tea in his teacup.
"I said some terrible things to my two kids. We gotta find them." said Don Lino.
"The members of the mafia are still searching everywhere for those two." said Luca while he gently put his tentacle on Don Lino's shoulder. "Forget about it. They'll eventually turn up."
"Oh, and I already contacted your wife Mildred while she was still in the hospital being treated for leukemia, boss." said Yvette. "I already told her that Frankie has passed away, and she was very devastated."
"Thank you for telling my lovely wife, Yvette," said Don Lino.
"She needed to know about your son's death right away," said Yvette. "Also, having hope that Lenny and Teresa would be found is the only thing we could do right now,"
"I know that. And by the way, what's wrong with Lenny anyway?" asked Don Lino. "Why does he gotta be so different? And as for Teresa, what's wrong with her? What does she always take Lenny's side? Frankie. May God rest his soul in peace. He was absolutely perfect. Perfect."
Unbeknownst to Don Lino and his two henchmen, Lenny and Teresa are both outside of the RMS Titanic during the funeral reception, and they have been watching them from out of one of the windows in the ballroom. They both have overheard what their father said about them, and they couldn't believe that he would say those things about them while he was praising Frankie, and it caused their relationship with him to become even more strained than before.
Then, Lenny decides that he should leave home since Don Lino would never accept him for who he is and begins leaving just as he shed a single tear from his eye and quickly wipes it away. Teresa suddenly noticed him begin leaving, and she felt really bad for him and she decides to leave along with him since she is unable to let him leave all by himself, but before she could do so, she stares at Don Lino through the window one more time just as she would never want to leave home just as she began shedding tears but she has to since isn't willing to allow Lenny to leave home by himself. So, she begins following him and quickly manages to catch up to him just as she begins to accompany him, and they two siblings both hold each other's fins, and they left in deep depression.
Back inside the RMS Titanic at the funeral reception in the ballroom, Leonardo and Shelly are sitting at one of the tables, and Shelly is still silently crying over the loss of Frankie while Leonardo is still comforting her and some members of the mafia began comforting her as well. Don Lino notices his mother is still crying over the loss of his oldest child while his father is still comforting her and some members of his mafia are now comforting her as well.
"Oh, Luca, Yvette, look what's happened to my family right after Frankie has died." said Don Lino while Luca looked for some tea in his teacup while he doesn't know there isn't any tea in his teacup which made Yvette very annoyed and did a facepalm. "Who could've done this?"
Then, the other crime bosses swam Don Lino while he quickly noticed all of them along with his two minions, and they began to express their sympathy for him since he had lost Frankie. Also, they inform him that they have learned about the identity of somebody who was actually responsible for Frankie's death while Don Veltroni gives him the bouquet, Don Salvatore gives him the memorial plaque, and Don Hicks give him the memorial card as gifts for Frankie's memory.
Don Veltroni cleared his throat. "Don Lino, at this difficult time, please accept our deepest condolences for the loss of your oldest child."
"Thank you, Don Feinberg. For honoring my oldest son with the wonderful song by Bette Midler." said Don Lino. He takes the gifts from the other crime bosses and put them beside his chair. "And thank you for all of these wonderful gifts for my son's honor, Don Veltroni, Don Salvatore, and Don Hicks."
"We've received some news from the members of each of our mafias about the guy who took out Frankie." said Don Salvatore.
Suddenly, Don Feinberg farts, and three green bubbles pop right in front of a killer whale mobster, causing him to faint in disgust while another mobster becomes filled with surprise. Don Lino and the other crime bosses become greatly disgusted by Don Feinberg's flatulence as well as Luca who inhaled from his fart and Yvette who covered her mouth from his fart.
"You know...Let's go talk over here about all of this." said Don Lino just as he got up from his chair.
The five crime bosses swam up to one of the windows of the ballroom, and the other crime bosses begin informing Don Lino about they have learned about the identity of somebody who was actually responsible for Frankie's death from their own mafias while they are completely unaware of what truly caused his death just like everybody else.
"This guy came out of nowhere, and calls himself a hero known as the Sharkslayer." said Don Feinberg. He unknowingly turned the other way.
Don Lino cleared his throat and patted on Don Feinberg's shoulder. "Ira, over here. You're facing the wrong way."
"Sorry. The Sharkslayer." said Don Feinberg.
"Well, if he must be responsible for killing my son, then where do I exactly find him?" asked Don Lino.
"He comes from Southside Reef." said Don Hicks. "That's all we could dig up,"
"Thank you for your help, Ira, Barbara, Phillip, and Judith. Thank you." said Don Lino.
Don Lino then gave kisses on each of his friends' cheeks while each of them gave kisses on his cheeks. The other crime bosses then leave while Don Lino turned to the window and began staring out from it. While they do so, Don Feinberg suggests signing the Titanic song during the funeral while the other crime bosses and some of the mobsters protest.
"Luca. Yvette." said Don Lino. Luca and Yvette went to his side right in front of the window. "You two do me a favor and get me Sykes. He knows the parts of Southside Reef better than anybody. I wanna find this guy. I wanna know everything about him. I wanna know exactly where he lives. I wanna know if he's actually capable of popping a gill, breaking a fin, and knocking out a shark's razor-sharp teeth. I wanna know about it. I wanna get my revenge for what he did to my own kid. Who is this Sharkslayer?" He will stop at nothing to get revenge since he wouldn't let anybody harm his own children since he has always loved them very much.
Later on that day at the RMS Titanic, it is now nighttime, and the funeral has ended. Don Lino's henchmen and the members of the mafia begin cleaning up, and the other mafias leave and begin returning back to their homes. Also, the other crime bosses have stayed behind and a meeting with Don Lino about the Sharkslayer could somehow be a new threat to the Five Families since he has become the new defender of the reef in the living room, and how Don Lino will get his revenge on him somehow.
"Before you guys could leave with your own mafias, we need to have a meeting about the Sharkslayer." said Don Lino. "He has became the new defender of Southside Reef who would fight off any shark who would commit crimes just like we've been always doing for so many years, and we've been committing crimes along with the killer whales and the swordfish as well."
"Well, the great whites have always been on top of the food chain." said Don Veltroni. "And they've always been looked up to. While the other mafias has always been feared by fish and other sea creatures, the most feared are the great whites and we've always helped them bring fear to the reef and make some of the citizens the main course of the traditional Sunday dinners."
"Also, we're not afraid of him so easily at all." said Don Salvatore. "All we know so far is that he is actually a little fish, and it's gonna take a lot more than a little fish to intimidate us that easily since we've managed to kill many fish in the past."
"Also, here are some citizens of the reef who have decided to work for me and become a member of the criminal underworld so they wouldn't have to get killed and eaten." said Don Feinberg. "And it's usually out of fear, deciding to do it, and wanna make some kind of deal.
"Sykes is one of those fish who has begun working for me and became a member of my mafia." said Don Lino "He was a member of my mafia for so long until I fired him."
"The Five Families have been committing crimes in Southside Reef for so many years, guys," said Don Hicks. "And we've always worked together to commit crimes on the reef for so long while the great whites have always been in charge right after one of Don Lino's ancestors began the whole business."
"Besides being in charge of my mafia, I'm also in charge of the other mafias," said Don Lino. "That's 'cause the great whites have always been respected, and we've always been ever since the mafia was founded by one of my ancestors of my family and we've decided to work together with the hammerheads, leopard sharks, killer whales, and swordfish."
"Well, the days of the Five Families committing crimes together at Southside Reef could be over since the Sharkslayer came along," said Don Salvatore. "The one who is responsible for taking out your own son, and he might take out other sharks as well as the killer whales and the swordfish. One of us could get slayed by the Sharkslayer next."
"Don Lino, the days of the Five Families committing crimes together can't be over all 'cause of the Sharkslayer." said Don Veltroni. "We might have to call it all off since the reef now has a new hero."
"We honestly don't wanna stop committing crimes in the reef since we've been doing it for so long." said Don Feinberg. "But we'll have no choice but to stop committing crimes because of him."
"Guys, don't worry, the Five Families committing isn't gonna be called off that easily." said Don Lino. "He isn't gonna make us give up committing crimes together, and if he honestly thinks he could get away with killing one of my kids, he's got another thing coming. I swear that I'm gonna make the Sharkslayer pay for taking out my son, and we'll prevent him from stopping us from committing more crimes."
"So, what are we gonna do, Don Lino?" asked Don Hicks.
"I honestly have no idea what we should do about the Sharkslayer, guys." said Don Lino. "But I'm gonna have Luca and Yvette get me Sykes so I learn everything that I wanna know about him. So, this whole meeting is now over, and you can return back to your homes with your own mafias. Oh, and by the way, Frankie will be missed and I hope that Lenny and Teresa can be found somehow by my mafia somehow."
"We hope for the same thing too." said Don Feinberg.
"Bye, you guys. I'll see you guys again some other time." said Don Lino.
Soon, the meeting has ended, and the other crime bosses leave while Don Lino stays in the living room planning on having revenge on the Sharkslayer.
A few days later, Lenny and Teresa are now traveling throughout the wastelands right after they have left the RMS Titanic, and they are still very depressed about what Don Lino just said about them during the reception of Frankie's funeral which caused their relationship to become even more estranged than before, and even though their estrangement with their father, they still love him very much no matter what. Just as time passes by, they pass through an abyss, pass through some hills of sand, pass through a kelp forest, take shelter in a cave from a thunderstorm, and arrive at the large field of beautiful flowers.
There, they take a break from their travel for a moment and witness the surface of the ocean together while Lenny wrapped his fin around Teresa and Teresa gently laid her head on Lenny's shoulder. Also, they have a conversation about their estrangement with their father and how he would never accept Lenny for who he is while Teresa felt bad for him and began comforting him, and she still insist that he should still give their father a little more time to understand that he is his own person which is agrees to do so.
"Sis, we can't believe what Pop said about us during Frankie's funeral," said Lenny. He groaned. "He said how I am so different."
"He also said that I would always take your side," said Teresa. "You know what, while he said those things about us, Daddy is just being so unfair and so stubborn."
"That's right." said Lenny. "He expects us to do what he tells us to do since he's our dad and the crime boss of the mafia, but we can't 'cause we don't really have to."
"We couldn't go through with doing those things 'cause you are your own person and I've always loved you just the way you are." said Teresa.
"I know, Teresa," said Lenny. "I still wish Pop would just understand that I'm just myself, but I guess that he will never do that since he always wanted me to be a killer just like Frankie."
"Of course, he will. Daddy will eventually understand that you can never be like Frankie and that you are just yourself." said Teresa. "Remember what Mom told you. Just give him a little time to think it over and he'll eventually understand that, and I've always given you that kind of advice too."
"Well, I already gave him a little time to think it over, but he still wants me to be like Frankie." said Lenny.
"Lenny, please don't give up, and just give him a little more time to do so." said Teresa. "He'll eventually understand."
"Well, alright. I'll give him a little more time, and I hope he will understand that I'm my own person." said Lenny.
Lenny began shedding tears just as he is still very depressed about how Don Lino kept questioning for his behavior while he would give him a little more time to understand that he his just himself while Teresa continued to comfort him, and he still feels very guilty about Frankie getting killed by the anchor even though he wasn't responsible for it and Teresa continues to convince him that his death wasn't really his fault just as he would never do such a thing just as he continued to shed tears and continued to comfort him.
"Teresa, it's all my fault that Frankie is dead," said Lenny.
Teresa sighed. "Lenny, you're not to blame for what just happened to Frankie."
"I didn't have the chance to save Frankie from getting crushed by the anchor, and he got killed because of me," said Lenny.
"It's just an accident and you would never be responsible for something like that," said Teresa. "He isn't really dead because of you. It isn't really your fault."
"Oh, Teresa, I miss him so much." said Lenny.
"I miss him so much too," said Teresa.
The two siblings both still hope that their father would accept Lenny for who he is and would know that there are most sharks in the ocean who are friendly just like themselves. Then, the two siblings began shedding tears just as they are still very devastated over the loss of Frankie and how their loving relationship with Don Lino has become even more estranged while they continue watching the surface together.
