Disclaimer: I don't own the 2004 animated film Shark Tale and all rights goes to DreamWorks Animation SKG. Shark Tale has been one of my favorite movies since my childhood, and it still is today. I've enjoyed that movie many times since I was a kid, and I still enjoy it today. Since I love the movie so much, I decided to do a whole retelling of the movie that is called When A Little Fish Tells A Great White Lie with new characters, new scenes, and different dialogue, and my OC belongs to me. When A Little Fish Tells A Great White Lie
Chapter 7: Dreams Coming True
At Southside Reef during the evening, Angie, Nelson, Sabrina, and many citizens are at Ripple Park and they gather at the stage because a very special event that was about to happen soon, which is known as "Congratulations To Southside Reef's New Hero: Oscar The Sharkslayer", and Oscar's three best friends were very proud of Oscar for becoming the reef's new hero just like everybody else are. A fish announcer appears on the stage and begins the special event of congratulating Oscar for becoming the Sharkslayer, and a large camera crew begins recording the whole thing as well.
"Hello, citizens of Southside Reef." the fish announcer announced. "This wonderful evening, we have all gathered here at Ripple Park to celebrate a very special somebody, and that very special somebody is Oscar the Sharkslayer. Southside Reef's new hero who has decided to defend us from the sharks who have terrorized this reef for so long. Now let's congratulate him right now. Here he is. The Sharkslayer."
Suddenly, Oscar appeared on the stage along with Sykes while he was wearing a cape, a cap sideways, a chain, and sunglasses, and he smiled and he held a big key up while his three best friends everybody else began cheering for him. At the Sea 9 news broadcast, Thomas and Rachael make a report about the event that is being held at Ripple Park during the evening, and they were also congratulating Oscar for becoming the new hero of the reef.
"Good evening, Southside Reef. I'm Thomas, the anchorman." Thomas announced to the viewers.
"And I'm Rachael, the co-anchor." Rachael announced to the viewers.
"At Ripple Park this evening, everybody is congratulating one of the citizens of Southside Reef who is named Oscar." Thomas announced. "That's because he became Southside Reef's new hero, and we're congratulating him as well. For so long, Southside Reef has been living under the fear of sharks, but we won't have to any longer since Oscar the Sharkslayer is gonna defend us from them."
"We'll be able to swim throughout the streets without being under the threat of sharks any longer." Rachael announced. "Oscar the Sharkslayer will be there to stop them from terrorizing the reef, and let's all hope that he can make sure that no shark would dare to mess with this reef."
"Congratulations, Oscar the Sharkslayer. We're all counting on you to defend Southside Reef from the shark menace that we've been dealing with for so long." Thomas continued.
Just as time passes by, Oscar continues to go all the way to the top and continues to rise to fame. One day at the Swim Of Fame, many fish limos drop off Oscar and many celebrities while his three best friends, Sykes, a large crowd cheered for them and flashed their cameras at them, and they made poses right beside the starfish that had each of their names under them, and the pose Oscar did appears on the front cover a the local daily newspaper of Southside Reef that is known as the Southside Reef Times which has become bestseller and he also appears on the front covers of various magazines such as the Aquatic Weekly, the Scallop Journal, the Coral Digest, the Delphinus Review, Newsreef, Pisces, and the Modern Fry.
Meanwhile, one night, Lenny and Teresa have arrived at the reef without being noticed by anybody, and they begin hiding in a field of kelp where they begin staying there since their estrangement with Don Lino. Also, they quickly notice Southside Reef Times newspaper on the ground, and they picked it up and it said "The New Hero Of Southside Reef Who Slays Sharks: The Sharkslayer", which made them become very frightened since the reef's new hero slays sharks and will be might get slayed by him next.
Later on that night, Oscar attends the 20th Annual Golden Pearl Awards along with his three best friends, Sykes, and many celebrities at the Poseidon Hotel in the restaurant. A walrus who is the host of the ceremony opens the envelope for the category of Golden Pearl Award for Outstanding Sea Creature, and reads that Oscar has won the award. He gets up from the table while his three best friends Sykes, and everybody else cheered for him, gets up on the stage, and happily accepts his award.
On another day, Oscar does an amazing dance performance at the studio of MTV Total Request Live along with some female fish background dancers which is his own promotion as the Sharkslayer while his three best friends, Sykes, and the audience cheered for him as well as a fish who is the host of the TV show, and many citizens who are outside of the studio holding up many signs and banners of Oscar since they are praising him for becoming the reef's new hero who would defend them from the sharks.
On another day, many citizens arrive at the Starfish Fifth Avenue shopping mall where they get autographs from Oscar who signs his name on photos of himself doing impressive poses, and they all lineup at the table he's sitting at. Angie, Nelson, Sabrina, and Sykes also watched him sign autographs to his adoring fans on a nearby bench, and he was having so much fun signing autographs to them.
Also, he began doing celebrity endorsement commercials which is for the public support such as the Gup clothing company, the meatless burger fast-food restaurant Fish King, the basketball team Southside Knicks, the Coral-Cola soda company, the Seabreeze Soap care brand company, and the Sergeant Herring's Berry Munchies breakfast cereal company. He also appeared on the many advertising billboards, many advertising banners, many advertising posters, gets his own many merchandise of himself that are now being sold in many stores, and have an amazing statue of himself standing on top of a great white shark while flexing his muscles that was built in the middle of Ripple Park.
Later on, on another night, Oscar moves out of the Seashell Plaza and moves into the top of the reef. He was in the elevator that took him to the penthouse while he was very excited about living there like he had always dreamed about. Soon, the elevator opens, and he arrives at the penthouse where it has everything. He was greatly amazed, and his lifelong dream of becoming a somebody finally come true right after the traumatic experience he dealt with during his childhood
"Let's get this party started right now! It's time to get this party started, y'all!" said Oscar.
Suddenly, a large crowd gathered at the penthouse, and an amazing party began there. Everybody began dancing like crazy and having so much fun while Oscar did some dance moves as well, and Ernie and Bernie were at the turntables and did some hip hop scratches on the records together. During the party, Oscar warmly greeted the many partygoers there and he warmly greeted Sykes who was also at the party as well and did some dance moves.
"There he is! The Big O!" said Sykes. "C'mon, give me the pound. Pound it. Oscar gives Sykes the pound. "Oscar, raise the reef, raise the reef, buddy." He began dancing like crazy.
"Yeah, you go, Sykes." said Oscar just as he began to become impressed by how Sykes was dancing like crazy.
"Mmm-hmm. I'm the pufferfish dancing king." said Sykes just as he continued to dance like crazy. Soon, his dance moves are going too far.
"Your dance moves are…pretty nice. They're pretty nice." said Oscar just as he began to notice that Sykes' dance moves were going too far which made him feel nervous.
"Look at me. Look at me. I'm getting down on the dance floor." said Sykes just as his dance moves continue to go too far."
Oscar nervously gives a thumbs up on Sykes' dance moves, and he backs away from him nervously. Oscar then continues to swim around the party and notices Nelson is also at the party and holding a gift bag, and he quickly smiles and swims up to him while he warmly greets him.
"Hey, Nelson, what's up?" Oscar greeted.
"I got you something." He showed Oscar the gift bag.
Oscar takes the gift bag from Nelson, and he opens the gift bag to see the gifts inside of it which he just received from Nelson, and he quickly finds eight photos that have been autographed of the members of a hip hop group known as the Wu-Tang Clan. He is very grateful of the gifts Nelson gave him and shows his gratitude to him.
"Hey, these are photos of the members of the Wu-Tang Clan, and they're all been autographed by them," said Oscar. "I love the Wu-Tang Clan so much and I'm a huge fan of them. Thank you, Nel."
Suddenly, Oscar and Nelson both notice Sabrina swimming up to them while she was holding another gift bag as well, and she has also arrived at the party and she smiled at them.
"Hey, Sabrina, what's up, girl?" Oscar greeted.
"Oscar, I got you this. You're gonna love it so much." She gives Oscar the gift bag.
Oscar takes the gift bag from Sabrina, he opens the gift bag to see the gifts inside of it which he just received from Sabrina, and he quickly finds five small boxes. He opens each of the five boxes, inside of them are old school hip hop chains. He is very grateful of the gifts Sabrina gave him and shows his gratitude to her.
"Hey, these are five chains, and they're all old school." said Oscar. "Each of these chains are old school, and I'm really into these so much. Thank you very much, Brina."
Then, Oscar, Nelson, and Sabrina both notice Angie entering the penthouse through the elevator while she was holding a wrapped-up gift box as well. They warmly greeted her just as they swam up to her, and she quickly noticed Oscar, Nelson, and Sabrina swam up to her, and she warmly greeted them as well while she smiled at them.
"Hey, Angie." Oscar greeted just as he spinned Angie around. "You made it."
Angie held the gift box right in front of her. "Hey, wait, you're gonna end up breaking the gift I got just for you."
"Aw, c'mon Ang, you didn't have to get me a gift," said Oscar. "Nel and Brina already gave me some gifts. What did you get me, huh?"
"Well, what does every bachelor need for their brand new home?" asked Angie just as she gave Oscar the gift box. "Check what your gift is."
Oscar tore the wrapping off of the gift box, opened the gift box, and found a lava lamp inside of it. He gasped in amazement. "Oh, it's a lava lamp. I've been loving lava lamps so much, and thank you, Ang. I'm really grateful that you gave me these gifts, guys, and they're very thoughtful. I'm gonna put these up, and I'm gonna put the lava lamp next to my other one."
Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina smiled while they watched Oscar begin putting up the gifts they gave him and putting the lava lamp Angie gave him right next to his other one. Soon, their expressions become filled with complete surprise and shock upon seeing the other lava lamp is really huge and it reaches the floor and ceiling while Oscar put the lava lamp Angie gave him right next to it on one of the steps of the staircase, and he went upstairs to another room where he put away his other gifts. They continue to stare at it for a moment until they quickly snap out of it when Oscar tells them to come outside with him to the balcony.
"C'mon, Ang, Nel, and Brina." Oscar called out. "I wanna show y'all the best thing about this place."
Oscar went outside to the balcony while his three best friends went along with him. Outside, the four best friends begin staring at the beautiful view of Southside Reef during nighttime in complete amazement together. While they do so, Angie begins thinking about her love for Oscar, and she also thinks it's the perfect time to tell Oscar how she really felt about him. Also, Nelson began thinking about his love for Sabrina.
"Wow!" said Angie.
"How great is this view?" asked Oscar.
"The top of the reef. It's amazing." said Nelson.
"It's such a wonderful view, and you can see everything from up here," said Sabrina.
"I know. It's really beautiful, right?" asked Oscar.
"Of course. Just like you." said Angie just as she expressed her love for Oscar. She suddenly becomes embarrassed by what she just said to Oscar and quickly covers it up. "You...You...Your new penthouse. It's just wow. Awesome." She giggled sheepishly. "What I'm trying to say is that we're very proud of you, Oscar."
"Thank you very much for saying those kind words to me," said Oscar. "You know, guys, all of this happened by some kind of miracle. Well, I exactly have no idea what it was, but it helped me realize the confidence in me to become the new hero of the reef, and I was able to take on that shark from earlier since nobody else weren't able to do so."
"Well, that makes a lot of sense." said Angie. "So, it looks like all of your dreams have finally come true just like you've always wanted. Also, since you're now living at the top of the reef, things are really gonna be different at the Seashell Plaza, and things won't be the same there and we're really gonna miss you so much."
"Well, you guys can come visit me at the top of the reef anytime you like to." said Oscar. You guys have been my best friends for a very long time. Hey, you know what, wait right here. Don't move at all. I'll be right back, and you guys are gonna flip."
Oscar then leaves the balcony while his three best friends begin waiting for him to come back. While they do so, Angie checks her breath and she is still planning to tell Oscar about her feelings for him when he comes back, and Nelson continues to think about his own feelings for Sabrina just as he began staring at her with a lovestruck expression while she kept staring at the view. Sabrina suddenly noticed Nelson staring at her which caused her to become greatly surprised. Nelson suddenly snapped out of it when Sabrina noticed him, and he quickly stopped staring at her and became greatly embarrassed just as he continued staring at the view. Sabrina became greatly confused just as she shrugged and continued staring at the view as well.
Nelson became very relieved that Sabrina didn't even notice that he has always wanted to make her his since she has always been the girl of his dreams and he's still too shy to tell her how he really felt about her. However, Nelson still plans to tell Sabrina that he has always loved her and that she has always been the girl of his dreams when he somehow manages to overcome his shyness to do so and he also continues to think about how she has always been the girl of his dreams.
Angie is still planning on telling Oscar that she has always loved him and she still thinks it's the perfect time to tell him how she really felt about him. Soon, Oscar returns back to the balcony while he had something behind his back.
"Hey, guys, I'm back." said Oscar.
Angie quickly noticed Oscar had come back to the balcony along with Nelson and Sabrina. "Oh, you're back."
Oscar approached Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina while Angie began sitting on the ledge of the balcony. "You know what, guys? How I became the reef's new hero by taking on that shark, how I got this whole new life, and how all my dreams are coming true...in a weird kinda way by some kind of miracle that helped me with having some confidence, well, I never could have done it without you guys."
"Well, it's very true," said Angie. "Also, it's true that we've always been there for you and supported you, and you did the same thing for us, Oscar."
"Yeah, and that's what best friends are for." said Oscar. "So, guys, I wanna give you guys something."
Oscar begin giving Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina some things which are actually gifts that he has been hiding behind his back. First, Oscar gives Nelson an electronic tablet which is known as an AquaPad, and it's from the RX-5 series. Nelson becomes greatly amazed by the gift Oscar gave him.
"Nel, here you go." said Oscar. It is an AquaPad, and it's from the RX-5 series."
"Wow! I've always wanted an AquaPad from the RX-5 series, and anybody couldn't buy these anymore since they've been very popular in the electronic stores." said Nelson. "Thanks."
Next, Oscar gives Sabrina a poster which shows a contemporary R&B group known as Destiny's Child. Sabrina becomes greatly amazed by the gift Oscar gave her.
"Brina, here's your gift." said Oscar. "It's a poster of Destiny's Child."
"This is so awesome. Destiny's Child is one of my favorite girl groups ever." said Sabrina. "Thank you."
Then, Oscar gives Angie a small box which can hold an engagement ring, and Angie suddenly becomes greatly amazed and begins to think that there must be an engagement ring inside the small box, meaning that Oscar must be proposing to her and going to ask her to marry him while Nelson and Sabrina began thinking about what she's thinking.
"And Ang, this is the gift I wanna give you. Here." said Oscar.
Angie gasped in surprise. "Oh, Oscar! I…I…I exactly don't know what to say. I'm…I'm so grateful for this. Thank you very much."
"Also, I'm sorry that it took so long," said Oscar.
"Oh, that's okay." said Angie.
Angie opened the box, and it revealed to be her grandmother's pearl which caused her to become filled with surprise and disappointment while Nelson and Sabrina both become filled with surprise and disappointment as well since they've thought the same thing.
"Hey, it's my grandmother's pearl. So, this is my gift, Oscar?" asked Angie.
"Of course," said Oscar. "Since your grandmother's pearl really means so much to you, I've managed to buy it back from the Prawn Shop from earlier. Also, pull it up from the box." Angie pulls out her grandmother's pearl from the small box, and it's revealed that it is now connected to a string of twenty other shiny pink pearls and it's now a necklace. She becomes greatly amazed just as she smiles at Oscar while Nelson and Sabrina become greatly amazed and smiled as well. "And make it into a necklace with interest. It's gonna look so good on you since you're really pretty."
Angie giggled. "Thank you for your kind words, Oscar. Also, you are so handsome." She suddenly became very embarrassed by what she just said and quickly covered it up. "I mean…I mean…you are so thoughtful." She giggled nervously. "Well, thank you for giving me back my grandmother's pearl and making it into a necklace.
"So, I don't forget anything, and I never forget who my best friends are." said Oscar. "And you guys mean a lot to me and I value my friendship with you guys so much."
Then, the four best friends began smiling at each other and shared a laugh with each other for a moment just as they continued to spend time with each other on the balcony together, and Oscar really enjoyed Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina being his best friends since childhood, and it was one of the best things that ever happened to him when they became his best friends on that very day in the cafeteria in elementary school.
"Ang, Nel, Brina, I…I…" said Oscar just as he was about to say something to Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina, but he suddenly got interrupted by Lola who appeared at the front door of the balcony.
"Oh, hi." Lola greeted. "I'm not interrupting something, am I? Are you having a moment together?"
The group of four best friends all noticed Lola, and she was being very seductive when she arrived all of a sudden. Oscar quickly smiled at Lola with a very lovestruck expression and admired her exquisite beauty while his three best friends just stared at her and became very surprised and shocked.
"Yes, we are talking." said Angie.
"No! Uh-uh!" said Oscar just as he swam up to Lola. "Hey, Lola! Wow, you're here!"
"Um…Oscar…who is this?" asked Sabrina.
"Yeah, who the heck is she anyway?" asked Nelson.
"Oh. Lola you gotta come meet the ones who have been my best friends for a very long time Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina." said Oscar. "Uh…I mean, eat my best man Wangie and eat my other two best men…"
"These three have been your best friends for a very long time? Oh, that's so sweet and adorable." said Lola just as she began seducing Oscar right in front of Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina. "Well, then, you three won't mind if I steal him for a while, will you?"
Before Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina could answer, Lola just stared at Oscar with a seductive smile and began to swim away with him. Lola stared at them for a moment, and then went back inside along with him while she held fins with him and began dating him so quickly.
Oscar's three best friends watched him go with Lola back inside, and Angie suddenly became very heartbroken and depressed as well as became very jealous upon seeing Oscar began dating her and she was so close of telling Oscar how she has always been in love with him. Soon, Sabrina began comforting her just as she began sitting on the ledge of the balcony along with her and wrapped her fin around her which made Nelson very confused.
"Oh, it's gonna be okay, Ang." said Sabrina.
"Hey, Angie, what's wrong? What's the matter?" asked Nelson.
"Well, it's because…it's because…" said Angie just as she tried to explain to Nelson, but she was too depressed to do so.
"It's because of what?" asked Nelson.
"Well, I'm…I'm in love with Oscar." said Angie. "Nelson suddenly became filled with surprise just as he gasped.
"That's right." said Sabrina. "The poor girl has always had feelings for him since we used to be little kids, and I've always known that 'cause she always told me all about it."
"Also, how I've fallen in love with Oscar was one of the best things that has ever happened to me." said Angie.
Flashback
At Pisces Elementary School many years ago, young Angie was at one of the tables of the playground during recess working on an assignment which is an art project for art class while the other students are playing at the playground, and she was doing a portrait of beautiful flowers. She soon gets finished with it and she becomes very happy, but her happiness didn't last long when a ball hit the table which caused the pink paint bottle to accidentally tip over and spill some pink paint on the art project.
Young Angie became very saddened that her hard work on her art project got messed up and she just got finished with her hard work, and she began crying just as she already knows that she will fail on her assignment if she turns it in at art class tomorrow. Young Oscar was playing jump rope until he heard her, and he went to the table and comforted her while she explained to him what just happened. He decides to help her out with making a new project which caused her to feel better already just as she wiped away her tears, and they both worked together to make another project while she threw the old one away in a nearby trash can.
They soon get finished with making the new project, and young Angie is very grateful that young Oscar has helped her out with doing so when she needed it and cheered her up, and she began to develop feelings for him since he was being very helpful and would do anything to help her out as well as young Nelson and young Sabrina since they are his best friends and she gives him a kiss on the cheek. While recess continued, young Oscar and young Angie played on the swings together, and she kept her love for him a secret.
End Flashback
"So, that's how I've fallen in love with Oscar." Angie continued. "When my art project for art class in Pisces Elementary School got ruined, Oscar helped me out to make a new one, and I managed to pass on my assignment. I really appreciated Oscar's help so much and he was being so kind, and that was when I began to have feelings for him."
"Also, she told me all about it." explained Sabrina. "She would always tell me about being in love with him."
"Wow. I never knew that you've always had feelings for him." said Nelson. "But now I do, and thank you for telling me, Angie."
"Oh, and by the way, who is that girl anyway? She just showed up out of nowhere and began dating him." said Angie. "You know, it's really strange for her to start a relationship with Oscar after she just arrived. Who is she anyway?"
Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina have become very suspicious about Oscar's sudden relationship with Lola since Oscar only met her, and Sabrina continued to comfort her. Nelson decided to comfort her along with Sabrina just as he began sitting on the ledge of the balcony along with Angie and Sabrina, and he wrapped his fin around her as well. He is greatly amazed to learn that Angie has always been in love with Oscar when she and Sabrina informed him about it, and quickly his love for Sabrina is very similar to her love with Oscar.
Back inside, Oscar and Lola spend time with each other while everybody else keeps dancing like crazy, and Lola is very delighted to begin a relationship with Oscar since she is only interested in his status as the Sharkslayer, and sees that having a relationship with Oscar was a perfect opportunity for her to become rich and famous.
"So, look who's actually a somebody after all." said Lola just as she spinned Oscar around. "I heard that you've become the new hero of the reef, and that's a good thing."
"Well, becoming a somebody was one of the best things that has ever happened to me…" said Oscar. "…and I've been doing a lot of hard work and getting straight A's to make all of this happen. You know what they've been saying."
Lola smiled at Oscar. "Well, it looks like you've been working overtime. Especially when you managed to fight off that shark and emerged victorious."
Suddenly, the elevators opened and a fish who looked very terrified arrived at the penthouse while everybody stopped dancing, and he just saw some members of the great white shark mafia approaching Southside Reef during the nighttime.
"SHARKS!" the fish exclaimed in fear. "They're at the edge of Southside Reef! THEY'RE GREAT WHITES!"
Everybody began swimming around and screaming in fear. Also, Oscar hides right behind Lola in complete fear once the fish informs everybody about some members of the mafia approaching the reef.
"OH, NO! SHARKS!" exclaimed Oscar. "EVERYBODY, GO BACK TO YOUR HOMES TO YOUR LOVED ONES AND FIND SOMEWHERE SAFE TO HIDE! SPEND THE LAST FEW HOURS Y'ALL HAVE WITH EACH OTHER BEFORE YOU'LL GET EATEN ALIVE!"
Suddenly, everybody stopped swimming around and screaming in fear, and they all began staring at Oscar just as Lola moved right aside and she stared at him as well. Everybody remembers that he's the Sharkslayer, and he begins to feel very nervous while he attempts to hide his fear.
"Oh...I mean...that's how it used to be around here in the reef y'all." said Oscar. "You know, we would live in fear of the sharks and try to find places to hide from them when they come to the reef to try to eat us, but we don't need to do those kinds of things anymore since I became the Sharkslayer, the new hero of the reef." Everybody begins cheering. "So, Lola, baby, sweetie, just wait here and I'll be right back soon. I'm gonna go ahead and take care of the sharks."
Oscar swims toward the elevator while he still attempts to hide his fear. He begins to act bravely and heroically while Sykes and everybody keep cheering for him and wishing him good luck.
"Go get those sharks, hero!" cheered Sykes.
"Woo! Yeah! Biceps! Triceps!" said Oscar just as he pressed the elevator button. "Those sharks are waiting for their butts to get kicked, and I'm gonna kick their butts really good." He growled bravely.
Sykes and everybody else kept cheering for Oscar just as Lola stared at him. The elevator quickly opens, and Oscar swims into the elevator while he keeps growling bravely. Then, the elevator closes and Oscar begins crying and wailing on the way down just as he knows that he's gonna be in big trouble and that he's nothing but a coward who can't even fight off sharks for real.
