Disclaimer: I don't own the 2004 animated film Shark Tale and all rights goes to DreamWorks Animation SKG. Shark Tale has been one of my favorite movies since my childhood, and it still is today. I've enjoyed that movie many times since I was a kid, and I still enjoy it today. Since I love the movie so much, I decided to do a whole retelling of the movie that is called When A Little Fish Tells A Great White Lie with new characters, new scenes, and different dialogue, and my OC belongs to me. When A Little Fish Tells A Great White Lie
Chapter 11: Gone Too Far
Meanwhile, at the RMS Titanic during nighttime, Don Lino is in his and his wife's bedroom sitting on one of the chairs and he's listening to classical opera music on a record player that is on a nearby table. He has already been informed that Lenny has been slayed by the Sharkslayer that very day while he is completely unaware that Lenny is still alive and he has already been informed by some of the members of his mafia that Teresa still hasn't been found yet and they are still looking for her. He has become very depressed over losing his three children and he began to miss them very much, and he just couldn't believe what just happened in his family lately.
He stared at the many photo frames on one of the walls of his bedroom that shows him and his family together, and he began remembering the good times he had with his family until Frankie's death and Lenny's supposed death as well as Teresa still being missing while he began shedding tears. He remembers the time when he and Mildred got married, the time when he had a friendly wrestling match with Frankie when he was young, the time when he read Lenny a bedtime story and tuck him in his bed when he was young, and the time when he and Teresa had a father-daughter dance with each other when she was young, and the time when he and his family had a traditional Sunday Dinner along with the other crime bosses and their own mafias.
Don Lino soon gets finished with the good times he had with his family, and he continues feeling very devastated over the loss of Frankie and the supposed loss of Frankie as well as Teresa still not being found yet while he still hopes that Mildred would recover from leukemia in the hospital. The classical opera music on the record player continues to play for a moment, and then it ends. He gets up from his chair and puts the record case back in a nearby box along with some other record cases just as he wiped away his tears. Suddenly, a telephone that is on one of the nearby tables rings, much to his surprise. He answers it.
"Hello?" answered Don Lino on the telephone. He listened to somebody on the telephone, and it turns out to be Mildred. "Oh, Mildred, it's you. So…how's your leukemia, dear? Has it gotten worse?" Mildred continued answering to Don Lino on the phone. "Wait a minute? You have recovered? The treatment has been a success?" Mildred continued answering to Don Lino on the phone. "Well, that's absolutely great news. When will you be coming home?" Mildred continued answering to Don Lino on the phone. "Alright. You'll be coming home in a few weeks. I love you too, my darling."
Don Lino then stops answering Mildred on the telephone and he hangs it up, and he was very happy to learn that she has successfully recovered from leukemia in the hospital of the RMS Titanic and will be returning home in a few weeks. However, his happiness didn't last that long since he misses his three children so much just as he sat down on his and his wife's bed.
Don Lino sighed dejectedly. "Oh, even though my dear wife had recovered from leukemia things are not gonna be the same around here because of what just happened lately, and it's all because of the Sharkslayer." He then noticed a newspaper article of Southside Reef Times on the bed, and he picks it up and it shows Oscar flexing his muscles on the front page and says "The Sharkslayer Slays A Great White And Saves The Day". He glare angrily at the newspaper just as he crumbled it up and ate it. "He's gonna pay for what he did."
He will stop at nothing to get revenge on the Sharkslayer for killing Frankie and killing Lenny and he would also get revenge on him if he kills Teresa just as he began sitting on his and his wife's bed in complete anger and vengeance while he still plans to get revenge on him somehow. Soon, Luca and Yvette enters his bedroom with a mysterious envelope.
"Hey, Boss, there's something you're not gonna believe." said Luca. It's this envelope, and it has been delivered to the RMS Titanic and it's for you."
"And we honestly don't know where it came from, but it's supposed to go to you." said Yvette. "We just found out at the entrance, that's all. Here it is."
Don Lino quickly opens the envelope, and he finds a letter and begins reading it. Just as he read the letter, he was very surprised by what it just said, but his very surprised expression became filled with determination and vengeance just as he smiled sadistically. Luca and Yvette watched him it, and they became filled with surprise just as they noticed his expression. He soon gets finished reading it just as he gets an idea from the letter.
"So, Boss, what did the letter say?" asked Luca. "And did the letter say where it exactly came from, boss?"
"Yvette, I want you to do me a favor." said Don Lino. "I need you to go to Southside Reef and kidnap the ones who are the longtime best friends of the Sharkslayer, and one of them who he is in love with. Their names are Angie, Nelson, and Angie is the one he is in love with. I've just learned that he's their main weakness, and the one who sent me the letter is somebody named Lola. We don't know who she is, but she gave me an idea for my plans for revenge. Yvette, go to Southside Reef, kidnap those three, and bring them to me so they could be bait. Can you do that?"
"Yes, Boss. I can do it for you." said Yvette. "I'll go to the reef, kidnap them, and bring them to you so you can do what you need to do. I promise."
"Thank you very much, Yvette." said Don Lino. "And I'll be sending these members of my mafia to help you out with your task."
"You can do it for him, Yvette, and you will." said Luca. "So the Boss could get revenge on the Sharkslayer. Now let's get to work already."
Later on that night at the RMS Titanic, Don Lino, Luca, Yvette, and the members of the mafia are now at the deck, and Yvette shakes fins with Don Lino and leaves along with the three mobsters to kidnap Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina. While she does so, Don Lino hopes that she won't fail him just as he began waiting on the deck for her to return along with Luca, and Luca cheered for her, much to his annoyance. Elsewhere at the deck, unbeknownst to him and Luca, Lola has watched the whole thing, and it was her plan to get revenge on Oscar for ending their relationship since she couldn't accept being rejected and thought it was a mistake for Oscar to break up with her.
Meanwhile, at the Whale Wash storage warehouse, Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina are now about to leave just as they say bye to Lenny and Teresa, and they have already saw their introductions of their dolphin disguises. But before they could do so, they congratulated them for deciding to work at the Whale Wash tomorrow, and Nelson decides to check on their teeth. He uses a dental mirror to check their teeth, and he discovers that they don't have any cavities and they're all clean. They smile at the two siblings, and then they leave while they begin having some food and beverages from Fish King together, and Lenny have a whopper, fries, and a Coral-Cola and Teresa have another whopper, nuggets, and Spout.
Just as they are, they are still very disappointed that Oscar has lied about being a Sharkslayer and shared that kiss with Lola while he allowed himself to be used by her. They then leave, and the two siblings noticed their expressions just as they became very dejected over his great white lie, and Teresa is still very disappointed in Oscar for becoming a fake. Also, Lenny begin to see that his scam has gone too far, and he begins feeling disappointed in him as well as feeling disappointed in himself for deciding to go along with his plan that made things worse in the process.
Suddenly, when Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina are opening the front door of the Whale Wash storage room just as they are leaving, Lenny and Teresa noticed that their smiles has quickly faded away and has became very depressed, and they already know the reason why they became very depressed is because of how Oscar has took credit for killing their older brother Frankie which he never did in the first place and has lied to everybody in Southside Reef about being a Sharkslayer as well as having a romantic relationship with Lola who he only just met and doesn't know that much.
Upon noticing Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina has became very depressed is because of how Oscar has began carrying out his Sharkslayer scam and has became a fake right after he took credit for killing Frankie, Lenny and Teresa's happiness quickly became complete depression as well since nothing good came from Oscar's lie and how it caused a rift in his longtime friendship with them, and Lenny became concerned about how much harm Oscar's lie has caused as much as Teresa is already concerned about it and how it caused a rift in his longtime friendship with Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina.
Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina leaves the Whale Wash storage room in complete depression and Angie closes the front door right behind them just as they still couldn't believe that Oscar has lied to everybody in Southside Reef that he's a Sharkslayer and began pretending to be something that he's not which caused their friendship with him to be at risk, and Lenny and Teresa are now in complete depression as well since Oscar's lie has caused nothing but problems for himself and the ones he cares about so much which are Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina and how his longtime friendship with them is now put at risk right after they have found out about his lie.
Also, while Lenny has became concerned about how much harm Oscar's lie has caused as much as Teresa is already concerned about it and how it caused a rift in his longtime friendship with Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina, he began to see that Oscar's lie has gone way too far right after he shared that kiss with Lola on the news which was nothing but a publicity stunt to show off to everybody in Southside Reef that she's the Sharkslayer's girlfriend and was only just using him to become famous alongside him when he agreed to part of his Sharkslayer scam and have that fake fight with him on the news so he could fake his death and wouldn't have to go home.
Even though he is very delighted that he is going to start a new life in Southside Reef as Sebastian the Whale Washing Dolphin and begin having a new job at the Whale Washing tomorrow along with Teresa who will be going as Margaret the Whale Washing Dolphin, the sister of Sebastian, he isn't that delighted because he has became concerned about how Oscar's lie has caused more harm than good and put his longtime friendship with Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina at risk, and he also realized that the fake fight between him and Oscar on the news from earlier didn't made things better for him and Oscar, it only made things worse in the process.
"Hey, Teresa, do you think that Oscar's lie has gone a little too far?" asked Lenny.
"Well, yes." answered Teresa. "I do think so. Actually, his lie has gone way too far, and it did cause more harm than good."
"Well, I think so too, and that's 'cause I've already realized it." said Lenny. "It was a dumb thing to do. Also, there's something else. I started to feel guilty for deciding to be part of Oscar's plan, and it didn't make things better, it just made things worse. Oh, I wish I never should've gone along with it, but I did, and look what happened."
"I'm glad that you realized it." said Teresa. "Also, you should be guilty, and I'm very disappointed in you that you've decided to go along with it as much as I'm disappointed in Oscar."
"I'm very disappointed in myself and Oscar too." said Lenny. "Oh, and I can't believe that he took credit for killing Frankie and lied about being a Sharkslayer, and telling lies has consequences. I also can't believe he is now in a relationship with Lola without even getting to know her better."
"Oscar just met Lola, and she's only having a relationship with him so she could make herself look good," said Teresa. "She is just using him, and I'm really concerned about his friendship with Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina 'cause of how he became a fake and how his lie has caused nothing but problems. You know what, I think he should just tell the truth."
"I'm concerned as much as you are, Sis, and you're absolutely right about what you just said." said Lenny. "He should tell the truth, and his lie is causing his friendship with Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina to become estranged. He has made a huge mistake, and his mistakes are just like Pop's mistakes."
"That's right. How Oscar screwed up is just like how Daddy screwed up." said Teresa. "He always has been screwing up, always wanting you to be like Frankie and wanting me to encourage you to be like Frankie, and he needs to understand that you are your own person."
"Hopefully, he will realize that he has always been screwing up and accept me for who I am," said Lenny. "If I just give him a little time to do so. Also, hopefully Oscar would realize that he totally screwed up when he lied to everybody about which nothing good came from it. He really needs to make things right somehow."
"Let's just hope that Oscar would learn from his own mistakes, and Daddy would learn from his own mistakes," said Teresa. "Doing something so dumb such as telling a lie without realizing the consequences it has is no way for anybody to live, and expecting somebody to be something else without noticing that they're perfect just the way they are is wrong."
Lenny and Teresa stare at each other for a moment, and then they warmly embrace each other just as they now hope that Oscar would do the right thing and tell the truth, and somehow make things right with Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina and apologize to them when he allowed his lie to go to his head and unintentionally hurt them so much. Also, they hope that Don Lino would understand that Lenny is his own person just as Lenny is still giving him a little time to do so, and they continue having their food and beverages together.
Later on that night, Oscar's three best friends are now heading back to the Seashell Plaza, and they are still very depressed since Oscar began carrying out a huge scam as well as being in a relationship with Lola all of a sudden. Since his lie is causing a rift in their friendship with him, they are considering ending the friendship if he continues being a fake, but they don't want to end it because they've always enjoyed being best friends with him and they were only just trying to come to his senses.
Soon, they see Oscar appearing on many advertising billboards in the neighborhood, and they weren't very proud of them at all since they know that he is now a sham. Unbeknownst to them, Yvette and the three members of the mafia are watching them, and they quickly notice that they're the ones they're looking for to kidnap and bring them to Don Lino. They arrive back at the Seashell Plaza in depression, and Nelson remembers that his love for Sabrina is similar to Angie's love for Oscar and he decides to confess to Angie about his feelings for her in private.
"Hey, Angie, can I talk to you out here for a moment?" asked Nelson. "And it's very important and you need to know about this. Can we also do it in private?"
"Well, okay then. You can tell me anything, and it can be in private outside." said Angie.
"Hey, what about me?" asked Sabrina. "Should I be part of it too?"
"No, Sabrina, and that's 'cause I really need to tell Angie alone." said Nelson. "You can go inside while I talk to her, and we'll let you know when we're finished."
"Nelson, are you sure about that?" asked Angie. Nelson nodded his head.
"Alright. I'll be going inside now, and I'll wait until you're finished with your conversation." said Sabrina.
Then, Sabrina heads inside of the Seashell Plaza while she was very surprised and confused that she won't be part of the conversation, and Angie and Nelson both sat at at the steps of the Seashell Plaza where Nelson proceeds to confess to Angie that he was always loved Sabrina so much as well as being her secret admirer who has been sending her many gifts to her and Angie's apartment, and how his feelings for her is very similiar to her own feelings for Oscar.
"So, Nelson, what do you wanna tell me?" asked Angie.
"I now know that you have always been in love with Oscar." said Nelson. "You also need to know that you're not the only one around here who is in love. I'm…I'm in love too."
"Well, if you are in love too, then who is it?" asked Angie.
"Who am I in love with is…is…is..." said Nelson just as he stammered and became very shy. He quickly stopped being so shy and took a deep breath. "It's Sabrina. I'm in love with Sabrina and I've always have. Also, I've always told Oscar about my feelings for her."
"Sabrina is the one you're in love with, and you've always told Oscar all about it?" asked Sabrina. Nelson nodded. "Then that means you're her secret admirer who has been sending her all of those gifts to our apartment."
"That's right." said Nelson. "Also, just like how you've always been in love with Oscar since we used to be little kids, I've always been in love with Sabrina since we used to be little kids. How I've fallen in love with her 'cause she helped me out with something that was very important, just like Oscar helped you out with something that was very important which made you start having feelings for him.
Flashback
At Pisces Elementary School many years ago, young Nelson was being bullied by a group of three students who took away his stuffed starfish from him and tossed it around just as he attempted to get it back from them at the courtyard. Suddenly, young Sabrina noticed him being bullied by him, and she quickly defended him from them by beating them up and she managed to get his toy back from them as well. She sends them running away in fear, and young Nelson expresses his gratitude for helping him out when he needed it and he already knows that she will defend him, young Oscar, and young Angie from bullies in school. Since she is so helpful, he began to develop feelings for her, and kept his newfound love for her a secret just as they began playing with their stuffed toys together.
End Flashback
"So, that's how I've fallen in love with Sabrina, Ang." Nelson continued. "That's 'cause she would always help me, you, Oscar when we get made fun of by bullies at Pisces Elementary School as well as anybody else who gets bullied."
Inside the Seashell Plaza, Sabrina is in one of the hallways waiting for Nelson to get finished with talking to Angie in private outside, and she suddenly spots a snack vending machine in the hallway and she uses a scallop to get a bag of saltwater taffy from it. She begins eating some of the saltwater taffy, and she suddenly begins hearing Nelson's conversation with Angie in price because the snack vending machine is near the entrance of the Seashell Plaza.
"Oh, my gosh. I never knew that you've always been in love with Sabrina, Nel." said Angie from outside. "But now I do know that. Thank you for telling me."
"Sabrina has always been the girl of my dreams and I've always wanted to win her heart so much." said Nelson from outside. "I've been acting as her secret admirer who has been sending those gifts, and I honestly think that she's a very beautiful golden girl with a heart of gold."
Upon hearing what Nelson just told Angie from outside of the Seashell Plaza, Sabrina suddenly became filled with surprise, and she swam up to the entrance of the Seashell Plaza to listen to what Nelson was talking to Angie about in private so she could learn what he just told her. Even though she already knows that eavesdropping on a conversation is wrong, Sabrina really needs to know what Nelson just told Angie, and she began secretly listening to the whole thing through the entrance without their knowledge.
"Those are really kind thoughts that you have about Sabrina, Nelson." said Angie from outside.
"Also, you're a very pretty angelfish with a big heart too, Angie. You really are." said Nelson from outside.
"Thank you very much for saying that to me." said Angie from outside.
Just as she heard the conversation in secret, Sabrina has already heard Nelson informing Angie that he has always been in love with her which causes her to become surprised even more, and she couldn't believe that he has feelings for her the whole time since she would defend him, Oscar, Angie, and anybody else from bullies in Pisces Elementary School as well as how he has been her secret admirer the whole time and didn't even notice it. She begins thinking about being the girl of his dreams for a moment, and then she smiles just as she realizes that he does feel the same way about him and she would like to tell him that she has fallen in love with him, but she isn't ready to do so yet and she'll wait she is ready.
Back outside, Nelson is now finished having his conversation with Angie, and Angie is now greatly amazed upon learning that Nelson has always been in love with Sabrina, and she quickly realized that her feelings for Oscar is similar to his feelings for Sabrina while Nelson already knows that kind of thing.
"Also, my love for Sabrina and your love for Oscar are alike, Angie." said Nelson. "That's 'cause of how they were being so kind to us and helped us out when we needed it."
"That's right." said Angie. "I've always had feelings for Oscar right after he helped me with making a new art project and you've always had feelings for Sabrina since she would defend us from bullies at school, and it's very similar."
"That's all I need to tell you, and now, let's go inside, Ang." said Nelson.
They both get up from the steps and went back inside. Sabrina kept smiling just as she now knows about Nelson's huge crush on her and realized that she is in love with him. Suddenly, she noticed Angie and Nelson come back inside, and she quickly snaps out of it and doesn't tell them that she has learned already. Angie, Nelson, and Sabrina began staring at each other for a moment, and they begin having a conversation about how Oscar is now a charlatan and will have no choice but to end their friendship with him if he continues living a lie which they don't want to do so and they hope that he will come to his senses and tell the truth.
"Hey, Sabrina, we're back, and how were you doing when I had a conversation with Angie outside?" asked Nelson.
"Oh, I was doing alright." said Sabrina.
"Okay, that's good," said Angie. "So, guys, about how Oscar is now a fake, we honestly don't know if he could still be best friends with him. It isn't gonna last long if he continues pretending to be something that he's not and we'll have to end our friendship with him. But we don't wanna lose our friendship with him at all 'cause he was the best friend that anybody could ask for."
"But he didn't appreciate what he already had and took everything for granted," said Nelson.
"He had to listen to his heart instead of his head, and he was already living a good life," said Sabrina.
"He was already special in his own way, but he was being too selfish to notice it at all," said Nelson.
"And he always kept saying that everything he had in his life wasn't even good enough," said Sabrina.
"Oh, we still can't believe Oscar would lie to everybody, especially us." said Angie. "Also, we already know that all he wanted was to be a somebody and be respected by others 'cause of what he's been through during his childhood, but he didn't notice that he was already a somebody to us 'cause we've been his best friends for so long. And about Lola, she is just using Oscar 'cause she only loved him as the Sharkslayer, and he tried to warn him about her but he wouldn't listen."
"We already know that Oscar can be selfish and exasperating, but he is still a good person no matter what." said Nelson. "He has been our best friend for a very long time, and we don't wanna lose that friendship with him, but we're gonna have to if he continues being a con."
"We've always enjoyed being best friends with Oscar," said Sabrina. "And we won't be his best friend anymore if he continues carrying out his scam. We really don't wanna stop being best friends with him 'cause having a friendship with him is one of the best things in our lives ever."
"Oh, and by the way, even though what we just said to Oscar does hurt, we had to tell them those things." said Angie. "That's 'cause he was being too selfish, especially when he lied about killing a shark. We were only just trying to get him to understand that he can no longer live a lie 'cause it's a dumb thing to do, and it's no way for anybody to live. Let's just hope that he will eventually understand that, and he will tell the truth. The truth can be hurtful, but lies are worse."
They continued staring at each other for a moment, and then they warmly embraced each other just as they begin hoping that Oscar would come to his senses and tell everybody the truth, and they wouldn't have to end their longtime friendship with him since they enjoy being best friends with him so much, even when they first met him during childhood.
