Charlie jumped out of bed at the sound of screaming from outside. Bill woke with a start and did the same. They ran towards their fathers room who was already dressed, wand in hand.
"Get dressed." Arthur said calmly but fiercely. "Then wake up the kids. We need to get them out of here."
"What's going dad?" Bill asked.
"Death eaters." He replied.
They needed no further explanation. They knew it was bad. They raced to pull on jeans.
"It sounds bad out there, you think Arabelle is alright? She should have let you walk her home" Charlie said to Bill.
"Shes tough she'll be okay." Bill replied.
"Shit" Charlie cried.
"What?"
"She's not going to be alright without this" he said holding up Arabelle's wand. "She must have dropped it"
"Damn it." Bill shouted "damn it Arabelle. Come on let's get the kids out first then we'll go find her."
Charlie pocketed Arabelle's wand and they ran back into the lounge where Percy and Arthur were speaking in fast low voices.
"Charlie" Arthur said "go wake the girls up. You two" he said at Bill and percy "we'll wake the boys, we need to get them into the woods away from the open field."
Charlie took off towards the girls tent. Outside was mayhem. Fires blazed as tents were set on fire and people were running, screaming and shoving trying to get away from the approaching death eaters. He scanned the crowd hoping to catch a glimpse of Arabelle but he couldn't make out any faces in the terrified crowd. He pushed into the girls tent. They were both awake and talking nervously about the noise outside.
They jumped when Charlie entered. "Get up." he said "you've got to leave now."
"Charlie what's going on?" Ginny asked her eyes teary.
"No time to explain Gin. But it will be okay, just stay with the twins they'll look after you."
"But where are the rest of you going?" She said her voice trembling.
"We are going to go and help the ministry, then we'll come and find you in the woods. I promise. Now come on" he said leading them out the door into the main tent.
Mr weasley was already telling the boys they needed to get to the woods and stay together. Charlie stood near the door eager to leave. He felt awful about kicking Arabelle out in that condition. Now he realised how stupid he had been. Arabelle was heavily intoxicated, wandless and alone in the middle of a full blown riot.
"Bill" Charlie snapped.
"Right okay" Bill said moving towards the doors. "Guys look after Ginny" he said to the twins "and stay all together."
Before they knew it they were outside in the cold air amongst the mayhem. Mothers were carrying and dragging their children away, men were yelling for their wives, people were falling to the ground and being trampled. They had to barge their way against the flow of the crowd. Even though they were both strong it was slow going. They scanned the crowd, still heading in the direction of the beauxbatons tent, they weren't even sure that Arabelle would be there but it was the only place they could start.
"ARABELLE!" Charlie yelled over the noise, but his voice barely registered.
They were both shouting for her. Praying to catch a glimpse of her somewhere. It took them what seemed like an eternity to make it through to the beauxbatons tent, when they did Charlie's heart froze. It was on fire. Thick black smoke rose from the roof. As they ran towards it the smoke became thicker and it was hard to breathe. Charlie was more used to the heat of fire than Bill. He covered his mouth with his hand and ran through the smoke to the entrenched of the tent. He searched around but to his relief it was totally abandoned. Yet now they had no clue where to find Arabelle. They headed off towards the woods still calling her name.
Death eaters began moving their way into the crowd, Bill and Charlie started sending disarming and stunning spells towards them but there were so many people pushing past they didn't manage to hit their targets before the dissaperated. After a while the crowd stated to thin. That's when they saw them in the distance.
They were cornered against a burning tent. Four beauxbatons girls where standing behind Arabelle, as two death eaters made their way towards them menacingly wands in hands. The four girls had their wands ready but no one was taking the first shot. Yet.
Charlie and Bill began shoving their way harder through the crowd to reach them. Charlie tried to keep his eyes on them but people kept running in front of him causing him to loose his line of vision. When he saw them again jets of lights were flying everywhere around them. Arabelle was ducked down, defenceless as green and red jets were shot it every direction around her. The girl next to Arabelle was frozen in fear. Arabelle snatched the wand out her hand and sent a red jet into the ground causing a huge explosion. Dust and dirt flew everywhere as Arabelle turned and yelled at the girls in French and began pushing them away pointing at the woods everyone else was headed. The girls ran, pulling the frozen girl out of her daze with them. As the dust began to clear Arabelle fired at one of the death eaters but her usually perfect shot missed by a good foot, she was still heavily intoxicated.
Charlie ran faster than he ever had, the cold air burning his lungs. She was outnumbered and he only had a matter of seconds to reach her. She was doing her best to repel the spells being sent her way as the girls ran to safety but she was being knocked back with every blow. Charlie sent a disarming spell at one of the death eaters who's wand flew away from him and he dissaperated in an instant.
Bill shot a stunning spell at the second but his shot was too slow, the death eater had already shot his own stunning spell at Arabelle who didn't block it in time. it caught the side of her head and as Charlie reached her side she turned to look at him, terror clouding her vision before her eyes closed and she crumpled to the floor, her head hitting the ground hard.
