This is the 38th chapter.
Before we could begin, there are several things I'd like to say before I could start.
First to start off, I know what you're going to say about the chapters. Of the fact that I made a plot twists and that story is ruined and all that BS. Let me tell you something, this is MY story and I decide what to do with it, even if it means doing some plot twists for a good ending. Second, if you have a problem of it just because of this, then don't bother write a review and leave.
For those are okay with it, don't write anything stupid about complaining or trolling. Because I really don't need any of this. Accept for what it is and know that this is my story. If you support it, good for you.

Demon Snakes
In the Underworld, both the skeletons and Oni were busy training in their training grounds by the order of Lord Garmadon. Lord Garmadon was in his chamber while sitting on the throne, watching a projection screen on the wall with the flames. It shows Mario and his friends battling Nightmare Moon with the Elements of Harmony.
"Luna, how long have I yearned for your return?" Lord Garmadon asks sadly. "If my role is different, then I would stay by your side and we would be together."
Apparently, Lord Garamadon was once an ally to his brother and the Elemental Masters back before he made a deal with somepony, and he once fell in love with Princess Luna. But things have took a turn when Princess Luna was banished a thousand years, he made a deal with Erebus and became a demon stallion to take revenge of Princess Celestia and the Elemental Masters. His brother, Princess Celestia, and the Elemental Masters defeated him and Lord Garamadon was exiled into the Underworld.
"Is something on your mind, Lord Garmadon?" Orochimaru asks with a smirk on his face.
"That doesn't concerned you of my well-being, Orochimaru!?" Lord Garamadon snarled. "Have you or Kabuto found the final Fang of the Great Devourer?"
"Unfortunately, we were unable to find it, but we found are new army." Orochimaru informed him as the demon snakes were gathered. "Lord Garmadon, these are the tribe of demon snakes, known as Serpentines: Venomari, Fangpyre, Hypnobrai, Constrictai, and Anacondrai."
The Hypnobrai were the demon cobras with blue, yellow, and medium dark gray scales. Their eyes are red, with concentric circle patterns, resembling a large spiral.
The Fangpyre were the demon snakes with red and white markings, and long fangs. Some have two heads.
The Venomari were the demon cobras with four yellow eyes, and green, lime, red scales.
The Anacondrai were the demon anacondas with purple scales and red eyes. Some had green eyes.
The Constrictai were the demon snakes with spikes in their heads and back, orange, black, and metallic gray scales, and yellow eyes.
"These tribes are waiting your orders, Lord Garmadon." Orochimaru said.
"Excellent." Lord Garmadon said with a sinister smirk. "Have some of the tribes look for the final fang of the Great Devourer, but keep it as minimum as possible. We don't want to draw too much attention if we use all of them, it'll ruin the plan."
"At once, my Lord." Orochimaru replied as he and some of the demon snakes left.
"Kabuto, I have a special assignment for you." Lord Garmadon informed him. "The demon snake tribes are without generals, there are five snake staffs of each tribes. You'll be taking those tribes with you and start looking for the Venomari General's scepter."
"Of course." Kabuto replied as he takes the demon snakes and left.
"After all these years, I will finally annihilate Equestria and kill Wu and the Elemental Masters." Lord Garmadon said as he walked in front of Mario's image, stood in front of it. "And, I will personally destroy the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. They have interfered my plans one too many times. I will not have you and the rest of your loved ones standing in my way, you will meet your demise soon enough."

In Ponyville at martial arts dojo, Mario, Kai, Nya, and Zane were sparring for the fighting tournament at Canterlot.
Mario dodged one of Kai's kicks and punches before rolling out of the way. Kai turned around and try to strike with his spin kick, but Mario countered it with grabbing hold of his leg and use a takedown, making Kai fell to the floor with a grunt.
"Oh man, Mario! You cheated!" Kai complains, but Mario chuckled before he got up.
"Calm down, Kai, it's all in good fun." Mario told him.
"Yeah, no need to be a sore loser." Nya adds with a smirk, earned a glare from her brother.
"Yeah, you're right. You did pretty good, Mario." Kai praises him. "Guess you never lost your touch."
Nya and Zane came over to them.
"But guys. Remember, the martial arts competition is in two months and it's being hosted in Canterlot with the...ugh...Grand Galloping Gala." Nya said before she finished her sentence with an annoyed tone.
Mario, Kai, and Zane glared at the thought as they hated the event.
"At least Master Wu told us that Princess Celestia is hosting at the courtyard, away from the caste." Zane said as he went to collect his shurikens and strapped them to his side while Mario strapped his hammer, Kai strapped his katana, and Nya strapped her spear.
"Yeah, that way we won't hear too much of the chaos around that event." Nya added when Kai had a thought on his head.
"You know, guys, we've spent too much time at the Master Wu's home and we only got to see a little at Ponyville. Shouldn't we find anything else somewhere?" Kai asked.
Mario, Zane, and Nya looked at Kai for the moment before they looked at each other, as if sharing the same thought.
"Come to think of it, we've spending a lot of times at Master Wu's dojo and Ponyville." Mario said with a smirk. "Are you guys up for a adventure in the Everfree Forest?"
Kai, Nya, and Zane raised their hooves with an excited grin.
In the Everfree Forest, it was quiet for a few minutes before Mario, Kai, Nya, and Zane were laughing in excitement while running on their hind legs with their horns lit and their aura hands replaced their hooves. They shouted in excitement to get their exercise as Mario front flipped over a fallen tree while Nya slides under it.
"Did I forget to mention that I love spending time with you guys?" Nya asked with a grin as they jumped over the river.
"No doubt about it, sis." Kai said with smirk. "This is definitely what we need. Hey, check this!"
Kai then flipped over a huge gap hole and skidded on the other side.
"Beat that!" Kai challenged with a smirk.
"Oh, a challenge? Well, challenge accepted." Zane said with a smirk as he backflipped and leap in the air, landed next to Kai.
Nya backed up a bit, ran while cartwheeling and twisted in the air, flipped and landed next to Kai and Zane. They high fived each other before turning to Mario, who skidded to a stop.
"Go on, Mario!" Nya challenged with a grin. "Impress me!"
Mario accepted the challenge with a smirk which instead of running, he did some round-offs, triple flipped in the air, and landed on his hooves.
"Okay, challenge complete, you really impressed us!" Nya said with a smirk.
As she, Zane, and Mario conversed, Kai took notice of something around his left and saw something of interest.
"It feels good to be out of town." Mario said with a him.
"Indeed, it's an opportunity to go for something exciting." Zane agrees when Kai ran up to them.
"Hey guys, you gotta see this." Kai said which it got their attention.
Mario, Kai, Zane, and Nya poked their heads out of the trees and noticing the demon snakes slithering to the Castles of the Two Sisters. Looking at them got the Nya, Kai, and Zane curious while Mario glared at the demon snakes.
"Who are those guys?" Kai asks.
"They are called the Serpentine: the demon snakes from the Hollow Shades and there were only five tribes." Zane explains. "And from the looks of it, both Orochimaru and Kabuto must've sent them here."
"But what exactly are they looking for at the Castle of the Two Sisters?" Nya asked curiously.
"I don't know." Mario responded back before narrowing his eyes with determination. "But whatever they're looking for, it looks serious. We better follow them and see what they're up to."
With that, Mario, Kai, Zane, and Nya went after the demon snakes while being quiet as well as being stealthy.
Kabuto led the demon snakes down a pile of rubble, leading all the way down to the ground level past the Castle of the Two Sisters. They came to a stop once they saw the insignia of the Venomari, which is the entrance to the cave. Kabuto used his mystic arts to unlock the entrance.
"Now, let's find that scepter and bring it back." Kabuto said, entered inside of the cave along with the demon snakes.
Once they were in the cave, Mario, Kai, Nya, and Zane slid down the rubble before making their way to the entrance.
"Whoa, I didn't know this cave was past the castle before." Mario said in awe.
"It's not just any cave, this is the territory for the Venomari." Zane explains. "It would appear this cave is older than that."
"I guess not even Princess Celestia knows about it, either." Kai added.
Mario then brought his senses back before addressing their attention.
"Come on, guys. Let's check it out." Mario said before entering inside of the cave before going in with Kai, Nya, and Zane following by his side.
In the cave, Kabuto and the demon snakes walked to the ruins of the Venomari tribe as they began the search of the snake staff. Kabuto was able to find the scepter with a sinister smirk on his face, a snake staff was known as the Venomari Staff. Kabuto walked to it and took the Venomari staff in his hoof.
"The Venomari Staff, Lord Garmadon will be pleased." Kabuto said with a sinister smirk.
"Gift shops on the first floor, fellas..." The voice came from behind said, causing Kabuto to turn around.
There standing at the entrance was Mario Star, Kai, Nya, and Zane. They had smirks on their faces, ready for a fight. Kabuto smirked as he stepped forward a bit before he stopped with the Venomari Staff in his hooves.
"If it isn't Mario Star, Kai, Nya, and Zane. The new generation of the Elemental Masters." Kabuto taunts the four unicorns.
Mario and his friends lit their horns as they stood on their hind legs as their front hooves were replaced by aura hands, pulling out their weapons and getting into their fighting stance.
"Kabuto." Mario growled. "You and Orochimaru will pay for murdering Master Bolobo."
"Ah yes, Bolobo, the Master of Nature. I remember now, Orochimaru uses the skin of a pony and kill him with his venomous fangs right in his neck." Kabuto said with a smirk.
Mario Star growled in anger, remembered of Master Bolobo being killed by Orochimaru long ago.
"And it'll be amusing that I would do the same to you, but I just don't have the time. Shame, really." Kabuto continued. "And as for the reason why I'm here for the Serpentine Staff, well, let's just Lord Garmadon has some crucial plans for Equestria. And since you four are the successors of the previous Elemental Masters, I'm going to enjoy killing the four of you here."
"Not if we have anything to say about it!?" Nya shouts angrily. "We won't let you or Orochimaru get away with this!"
"And we're not letting you take that Serpentine Staff, either!" Kai added.
Kabuto only find this amusing before the demon snakes appeared around him, hissing at the four unicorns.
"Serpentines somehow has respect for Kabuto and Orochimaru." Zane said seriously. "We're going to have a fight in our hooves."
"Kill them!" Kabuto ordered, pointing the Serpentine Staff at them.

The demon snakes charged at the unicorns as they leap into action against the Serpentines.
Mario high kicked the Fangpyre and dodged as incoming bite from the Anacondrai. He dodged the attack again and again before he used his hammer, swinging it right in the side of the face. Then, he jumped on a couple of their heads before slamming his hammer down to the ground, causing a tremor and sent the demon snakes flying as they crashed against the pillars and the ground.
Zane threw his shurikens at the number of Hypnobrai and Venomari. He blocked the attack from the Constrictai and counter with a kick to the jaw and with just several moments, he then kicks to the stomach, chest and neck, taking down each of the Anacondrai and Fangpyre.
Kai brings out his katana and whacked a few Hypnodrai away before unleashing a fireball at the Constrictai.
Nya gracefully dodged a few incoming attacks from the Anacondrai before she uses her spear to smack one down, high kicked the Venomari to the wall, and uses her water to send a Hypnodrai to the pillar.
Mario kept on fighting against the demon snakes before he met face-to-face with Kabuto. He held the Serpentine Staff in his grasp before the engaged in a fight. The two kept on clashing with each other before Mario punched that snake attached to Kabuto and erupted the ground with vines, binding him and the snake.
"I'm impressed, you've mastered the Element of Nature." Kabuto commented mockingly. "It would seem Wu have taught you well."
Mario then swings his hammer, bashing him in the face and sent him flying right into the wall. He then walk towards Kabuto.
Kabuto quickly pulls out an illusion spell as the feathers flowing down. Mario, Nya, Kai, and Zane knew that illusion that can only sent the victims to sleep, but once they uses the release technique, they noticed Kabuto and the demon snakes are no longer here.

"Where'd they go?" Kai asks surprisingly.
"Kabuto uses the Feather Illusion technique that only sent his victims to sleep." Zane explains. "He must've used that technique as a diversion in order for him and the demon snakes to escape."
Mario is now worried before he turned back to his friends.
"We need to find out what Kabuto is up to and why he's carrying the Serpentine Staff. It can't be good." Mario said with a grim expression on his face.
Few days later, Mario, Nya, Kai, and Zane have made it to the Dojo Temple and heading to Master Wu.
Once they got there, they noticed Cole, Jay, Skylor, Morro, Karlof, and Lloyd were practicing martial arts for the fighting tournament at Canterlot.
Cole has an onyx fur coat with an onyx mane and tail with a golden streak and golden yellow eyes. His cutie mark is a Kanji symbol of 'Earth' and an Earth Dragon. He carries a scythe.
Jay has a blue fur coat with a brown mane and tail and brown eyes. His cutie mark is a Kanji symbol of 'Lightning' and a Lightning Dragon. He carries a nunchaku.
Skylor has an orange fur coat with a cherry red mane and tail and cherry red eyes. Her cutie mark is a Kanji symbol of 'Amber'. She carries a bow and arrows.
Lloyd has a green fur coat with blonde tousled mane and tail, and green eyes. His cutie mark is a Kanji symbol of 'Energy' and a Energy Dragon. He carries a dao.
Morro has a forest green fur coat with jet black mane and tail, and black eyes. His cutie mark is a Kanji symbol of 'Wind' and a Wind Dragon. He carries a war fan.
Karlof has a black fur coat with silver mane and tail, and black eyes. His cutie mark is a Kanji symbol of 'Metal' and a Metal Dragon. He uses a metal gauntlets.
They stop the spar when they turned to Mario, Kai, Nya, and Zane.
"Mario! Zane! Nya! Kai!" Cole, Jay, Skylor, Lloyd, Morro, and Karlof shouts excitedly as they rushes to them.
Mario, Nya, Kai, and Zane then rushes to them as they hugged each other.
"It's good to see you guys." Cole said with a smile. "Master Wu is keeping us in check once you guys are gone."
"Things are never the same with you guys gone." Jay adds. "At least I get to keep them in line."
"You? Keep them in line?" Nya rhetorically asks with a smirk. "Last time I check, I ask Morro and Lloyd to keep them in line."
That got them laughing which Jay couldn't help but groan.
"But right now, we need to see Master Wu. This is serious." Mario told them. "We've encountered Kabuto and the Serpentines a few days ago."
They widen their eyes in shock when Master Wu revealed himself outside of the Dojo Temple, approaches his students.
Master Wu is an elder stallion with a golden fur coat with white mane, tail, and a long beard, and golden eyes. He wore a white kimono with a golden dragon symbol on his back, a large red sash around his waist, black pants, and reddish-brown boots, and white linen on his knees to straighten his legs. He also wears a conical hat on his head and carries a bamboo staff.
"I've heard you come to see me, Mario Star." Master Wu said seriously. "What's troubling you?"
Mario, Nya, Kai, and Zane looked at each other with concern before turning their attention to Master Wu.
"Master Wu, we've encountered Kabuto and those Serpentines few days ago." Mario explains. "But it's not only them, I've encountered Lord Garmadon at Cloudsdale."
Master Wu widen his eyes in shock before he narrowed his eyes.
"Where did you hear that name?" Master Wu demanded with an angry look.
"I met him at Cloudsdale. He mentioned about you." Mario told him. "Kabuto and those Serpentines are working with Lord Garmadon, they've carrying a Serpentine Staff from the Venomari's cave."
Master Wu narrowed his eyes while stroking his beard.
"Then, he's planning something that will cause destruction in Equestria." Master Wu said in a dread tone, shocking his students.
"Wait, what?" Cole asked, not understanding.
"What do you mean, Master Wu?" Morro asks.
"Come with me, and I'll tell you everything." Master Wu suggested as he gestured his students to follow him to the Dojo Temple.
Once they're inside of the Dojo Temple, Master Wu turns to his students as he spoke.
"Before I explain I think it'll be better if I start telling you all of Lord Garmadon, my brother." Master Wu suggested before a flashback was shown of the young Wu and young Garmadon and the original Elemental Masters.
"Thousand years ago, both Garmadon and I were brothers, we live together with our father and he's the strongest martial artist in Equestria." Master Wu narrated. "But by the time in Canterlot, Garmadon has laid eyes on Princess Luna and they fell in love. Of course, Princess Celestia approved and given them the blessing. But things have took a turn when Princess Celestia was left in other options by banishing her sister. After Garamadon heard the news, he became enraged and his heart have grown dark when he entered the Room of the Forbidden Arts, he struck a deal with Erebus. A deal for him to take revenge on Princess Celestia and destroy Equestria with his dark army."
The flashback showed of Garmadon turned himself into a demon and bringing out the dark army to destroy Equestria while everypony was running for their lives and screaming in fear.
"Of course, Princess Celestia and I have fought alongside, fighting against the demonic army in order to get the ponies to safety." Master Wu narrated. "Garmadon even fought against us. Despite the efforts, we were no match of his dark powers. It left me with no other options, I used my chi and the Forbidden Arts as a last resort to drag him and his army to the Underworld. Like Princess Celestia, I felt terribly guilty for what I have done after trying to reason with him, but he was blinded by rage and revenge."
The flashback showed Wu used his art to drag Lord Garmadon and his army to the Underworld with a guilty look on his face. Princess Celestia knew what it's like to banish her own flesh and blood, given him a sympathy look.
"After the massacre have ended, things had finally settled down for a few months until we heard of Lord Garmadon making his move." Master Wu said.
Mario, Kai, Nya, Cole, Jay, Zane, Skylor, Morro, Karlof, and Lloyd were shocked and horrified by this, hearing Lord Garmadon was once an ally and a lover to Princess Luna until he's blinded by rage to cause a massacre in Equestria.
"But, what about Orochimaru and Kabuto?" Cole asked, wanting to know about the two demon stallions. "They brought those Serpentines to find this Serpentine Staffs."
"After I became a martial arts instructor and my father past on the Elements to the first generation of the Elemental Masters before he past away long ago." Master Wu explains. "But as time went by, I even trained the Elemental Masters in martial arts and the elements. Since then, we even fought against those monsters that are coming to Equestria, including the Serpentines. The Serpentines were the tribal snakes that belong to only five: Venomari, Constrictai, Fangpyre, Hypnobrai, and Anacondari. Those Serpentine Staffs only belongs to the Generals, which it only holds the venom that can only gather the mystic powers to the Fangblades and unleash the Great Devourer. We prevented that from happening when we fended the Serpentines off and sealed them off in a different tombs. We even hid the Fangblades in a different places of Equestria so it won't fall into the wrong hooves. Until now, only 3 Fangblades were found and 1 Serpentine Staff is found."
There was silence in the Dojo Temple as they're horrified by it. That's why Lord Garmadon sends Orochimaru, Kabuto, the dark army, and the Serpentines in Equestria to find the Fangblades and the Serpentine Staffs, as well as to bring forth the Great Devourer.
"But now, since Lord Garmadon is making his move, we have to find them before they do." Master Wu suggested with a serious glare. "If Lord Garmadon gets his hooves on the final Fangblade and the Serpentine Staffs, then Equestria we all know will be in grave danger."
"Isn't there any way that we can find them?" Mario asked.
"There is a map that I kept it in the archives." Master Wu answered. "Though, it's over 300 years old, but it will lead you to what we're looking for so Lord Garmadon won't get a hold of them. All of you will have to work in groups in order to find them."
"But how? We can't even find them, even if we split! And I hate snakes!" Jay complains.
"Perhaps it'll be better that I can make copies of the maps." Nya suggested. "That way, we all have the maps and look for them."
"That'll work, but we need to work on them quickly. Time isn't on our side." Master Wu said as they head to the archives to look for the map so they can work on copying the maps.
In the Underworld, Lord Garmadon was meditating when he heard footsteps approaches. He opens his eyes to see both Kabuto and Orochimaru carrying the Fangblade and the Serpentine Staff.
"Lord Garmadon, we present you the Fangblade and the Serpentine Staff." Orochimaru and Kabuto said, bowed to him.
"Ah, excellent work." Lord Garmadon said as he rose up and walked down to meet Orochimaru and Kabuto before stopping, looking at the Fangblade and the Serpentine Staff. "These Serpentines have tried to summon the Great Devourer once before my brother foiled their plans. I'll be sure that their work won't be in vain. Take the Fangblade with the rest of them and take the Serpentine Staff of Venomari on the mount next to them."
"Yes, Lord Garmadon." Orochimaru and Kabuto said as they placed the Fangblade and the Serpentine Staff at the alters, walked away.
Then, Lord Garmadon walked to his throne and sat on it with a sinister smirk on his face.
"Soon, all of Equestria will be conquered and with the Great Devourer and the Serpentines by my side, no one can stop me." Lord Garmadon said with a sinister chuckle.
