Big Monkey Mayhem
DudOnline says: Please don't do a grandpa Gohan on them '...'
ANSWER!
Ok.
GROAHHHH
Atom's oozaru form stood tall among the buildings in west city. Right after he appeared, several helicopters from different news stations began to swarm the air like buzzing mosquitos.
"GROAH!" The monkey shouted, swiping his hands wildly to bat away the flying machines. Briefs stood staring up at Atom's form, watching in horror as he finally succeeded in slamming a helicopter to the ground, surely killing all of the passengers.
Briefs began to run back inside the building, he was the only one who could stop this, by shutting off that generator. The moon hung overhead, bright, and full as Briefs dashed through the complex.
He entered the lab to see Atom's large foot blocking the path. He clicked his tongue and started to run around the foot, reaching the generator and slamming it shut.
The whirring of the machine stopped, causing Atom to look down. Just as he lifted his foot, his body clenched, and Briefs smirked. "I got you Atom, so no blutz waves for you."
Atom's head peered down as his foot slammed into the ground… right next to Briefs. The man looked over his transformed son to see the full moon glowing overhead.
"The moon!" He realised, quickly trying to escape the building as Atom rampaged. The huge monkey's foot lifted before it began to slam through another wall, blocking Brief's path through the building.
The man hurried back towards another exit, roof tiles and machinery collapsing around him. His cigarette fell from his mouth as he slipped over the waxed floors, quickly picking himself up.
A foot from his enraged son slammed through the ceiling once again, throwing dust and stones around the hall. Briefs fell backwards and began to cough, removing the dust from his lungs before he stood back up.
"ATOM! CALM DOWN!"
The monkey did not respond as another wall fell, pinning the scientist underneath. Outside, Bulma and Bikini continued to try and rationalise with the boy, much to their horror when he did not seemed to respond, instead electing to further destroy their home.
A large swipe from the boy took off the 4th floor, launching it into the back garden. The beast roared a final time before slamming his foot through the second story of the Capsule Corp headquarters.
"ATOM, NO!"
The foot continued to travel through the ground, reaching right in front of Dr. Briefs face before it slammed through his body, killing him in an instant.
Atom pulled his foot back and stepped onto the lawn, looking into the moon and roaring as loud as he could, right before a green sphere slammed into his cheek and knocked him to the ground.
Bikini and Bulma had tears in their eyes watching their home be destroyed, not even realising their main male figure in the house had died.
An old man landed on the grass in front of them, his muscles bulging and veins appearing over his body. The great ape stood up slowly but froze when he saw the man in front of him.
He reached out to attack, but the old hermit evaded, dodging another swipe. A quick blast of energy pushed the boy back slightly, sending him further into the city.
Atom reached for a helicopter floating around, launching it towards Roshi at supersonic speeds, but the old master caught it with his bare hands, barely sliding back before he placed it on the ground.
"I knew something bad would happen, but this isn't what I expected." He said, running towards the oozaru and sliding under a huge punch from the monkey.
The monkey rolled over the ground, his back facing straight towards the master. 'His tail! It should weaken him!' Roshi realised, cupping his hands together as he ran.
"Kamehameha!" He shouted, blasting a beam of ki straight across the ground, kicking up dirt in its wake. The monkey's tail quickly moved out of the way letting his back become signed by the beam before it jumped back to its feet.
Atom slammed his foot on top of Roshi, creating a crater around the old man, who was struggling to hold the foot back with his maximum power.
Roshi moved one of his arms down, replacing it with a forearm before he was pushed to his knees. He placed his palm forward, flicking his fingers to shoot out a scythe of ki.
The foot became even more heavy as Roshi flicked his fingers upwards, the blade whistling through the air until it cut Atom's tail off at the base.
Just when his body was about to give out, the pressure alleviated on Roshi's body, letting him stand back up as Atom's body began to shrink, his hair receding and face returning to normal.
Atom's naked body laid on the ground after several moments, his tail having been cut off at the base. Roshi closed in on the boy, picking him up and turning around to see Bikini and Bulma standing on the grass.
"It's okay now, but I don't think he should be outside during dark, or keep his tail."
"Is Dad, okay?" Bulma asked. Roshi closed his eyes and began to sense for any ki, finding none among the rubble. Roshi squinted even harder and focused, once again finding nothing.
Atom gasped awake, "Dad!" he yelled, jumping out of Roshi's arms and looking towards the rubble. Tears flowed from his eyes as he began to claw through the stone, ki pulsing through his body to increase its strength.
He finally lifted a huge slab of ceiling panel, revealing a crushed Briefs. Bulma and Bikini walked over, seeing the man's body as they began to openly shed tears.
Roshi didn't even need to look to know what happened, so he took his leave quickly on top of his flying turtle. "I-It's all my fault." Atom cried, his body filling with guilt as he looked at his father's body.
Bikini and Bulma hugged him from the back. "Its not your fault, it was an accident, that's all." Bikini reassured.
A hiccup escaped Atom's throat before he looked at the house again. "I-I'll fix this." He murmured, his hands clenching into fists. "I'll fix it and then…" He didn't know, he didn't know what he would do next.
1 year later – age 741
It was a cold winter morning as Atom groaned, stretching his back and resting back in his chair, his father's chair. "7:00 am, I overslept." He groaned, looking up at his computer and shutting it down.
He stood up, revealing he had grown slightly over the past year, reaching 148 cm (4.8 feet) and picked up his bag, pulling a USB from the computer and running out of his father's lab, passing his frozen body and waving it goodbye.
"Soon Dad, I'll get you all fixed up." He clenched the USB in his hand labelled, "Project Paternity". Atom quickly jumped up the stairs, tagging his key card against the newly installed scanner and running into the kitchen.
A robot placed his breakfast on the table and he quickly gobbled it up before looking at his watch. "7:05" He jumped out of his seat and grabbed his uniform from a hook, chucking it over his body and messily tying his tie around his neck.
Atom slipped on his shoes and said goodbye to Bikini before running out the door to catch up to his sister. "Bulma! Wait up!" He yelled, speeding down the street before stopping in front of his sister.
"Oh, hey Atom, whats up?"
"What do you mean whats up? We're late for school!"
"Uhm, no we aren't, it's a public holiday you dummy."
Atom's eyes widened before he slapped his face, looking at Bulma's clothes. "That's why you aren't in uniform."
She nodded before pushing her brother back towards the house, him stumbling a bit before he tripped over the curb on the road into oncoming traffic.
"Atom!" Bulma shrieked. Atom smirked and put his hand under him, a gust of wind blowing him upwards over the cars and onto the other side of the street.
Atom had managed to figure out a weird form of flying with short bursts of ki exiting his body to propel himself. It was quite crude, and far less advanced and optimised than the flying technique of the crane school, but it was his own, so he was still proud.
The boy tapped his feet onto the ground before looking at his watch and clicking a few buttons, his school clothes being replaced with a white lab coat and goggles over his forehead.
Under his coat was a black t-shirt and black trousers, with boots around his feet. Atom tied the laces to his shoes and looked at his watch a final time. "Oh shit, I have a meeting with Gol tech in 20 minutes." He whispered to himself, quickly blasting into the sky and looking across the city.
He spotted his destination among the high rise office buildings of west city, quickly blasting towards them and landing on the balcony. Atom politely knocked on the closed glass door, its curtains being closed.
Nobody answered and he knocked again, no response. Just as he was about to knock a third time, a frazzled business man slammed the curtains and door opening.
He stood just over 160cm and had a messed up tie with and messy hair. "Dr. Briefs."
"That was my father, its just Mr. Briefs. Now let's get this meeting started."
Atom casually walked in and took a seat at a large round table, with a projector at the front and a whiteboard. "I suppose we'll have to wait, huh Jun?"
Jun combed his hair frantically and sat across from Atom, twiddling his thumbs as he began to sweat. 'This is the largest company in the world, but he's just a kid, calm down Jun, calm down.'
A smirk creeped up Jun's face as he got out of his seat and walked towards his desk, grabbing a large file out and returning to his seat. "While we wait for the others, would you like to hear a summary of our annual sales?"
Atom's eyes closed and he laid back in his comfortable chair. 'It's time to enter business mode.' He thought, reaching into his lab coat, and pulling out a pair of glasses.
"No, I would rather hear about your values as a business, what is your goal?"
Jun began to sweat as he closed the file and pushed it away, his palms were wet as he rubbed them together and weakly smiled. "I-We. Our goal as a company, is to supply affordable electronics to people all over the world. O-Our values are a healthy and comfortable work environment for all of our employees, and… for our employees to feel appreciated as more than just another worker."
Atom opened his eyes and let ki flow through his body, directly to his eye as it glowed. "Good, I appreciate your honesty Jun, I hope we can come to an agreement during this meeting, as it has already been delayed by 4 months. I'm starting to think we should become competitors rather than partners."
'C-Competitors?! With Capsule Corp!? Fuck, I need to win him over.'
Jun looked towards the entrance to his office as several people pooled in. Aphro from Aph cosmetics, Hoi from Capsule Corp's business sector, Toka from Kamaki motors, and a few more businessmen entered the office and took seats.
Aphro was a tall, skinny woman with bright pink hair and purple highlights, she had a chequered dress with black and white squares covering it. Hoi was a round man carrying a leather bag and wearing small rectangle glasses with a formal suit. Toka was a short woman with fiery red hair with yellow tips, wearing a grey sweater and black pants.
Together, they were a force to be reckoned with, relationships with each having been formed by Atom's previous business ventures over the past year. Straight after Brief's death, he handled the bulk of Capsule Corp's workload with the help of Bikini, who had picked up some business skills over her life.
"Now Jun, today I've invited some of my friends to oversee developments here. I'm just a little inexperienced you see." Atom said, pointing his hand out to his friends who sat beside him.
"I-I see, so lets cover what the deal between us is at the current moment. My company, will become a subsidiary of yours, and I will be placed as an overseer to the projects."
"You forgot one thing; I'll be repaying your companies debts to the city."
"O-Of course."
"So why have you been stalling to agree if it's so simple?" Toka piped in, leaning over the table threateningly. Jun leaned back a little bit and scratched the side of his face.
"There have been some issues with certain employees recently." Jun fidgeted with his hands and reached over towards his file. "What sort of problems?"
"Cases of misconduct, nothing more."
"Then why did you stall for it?"
"It was a larger issue."
"…"
Atom leaned back in his chair and sighed before standing up. "I've heard enough, we'll be withdrawing from negotiations."
"W-Withdrawing!? Why?!"
"Learn to manage yourself better, I expected more Jun." Atom left through the door as his partners followed. When the door closed, he breathed out a sigh and looked at his partners who gave him a thumbs up.
"Was that good?"
"Amazing!" Toka said, ruffling Atom's head while calling the elevator. Hoi nodded and stepped inside of the elevator. "Though I want to know why you rejected the deal, it would have been beneficial to launch into the cosmetics department."
Atom nodded and leaned against the back of the elevator. "I think I'm spreading Capsule Corp too thin, I need to focus on things. As weird as it sounds, if I keep making aggressive moves like this, I'll run out of assets by next decade."
"Next decade?" Aphro questioned quietly. Atom nodded again and gripped the usb in his pocket. "Well, I can't return the company to Dad with nothing left. Plus, 2.0 for the capsule system is getting more costly by the day."
"Development is going smoothly though." Hoi reported, pulling a small booklet from his briefcase and handing it to Atom. "We're moving onto the design portion next, and we'd like your opinion on a few different prototypes, can you swing around in a few hours?"
"Sure, I'll be there." Atom took the booklet and flicked through the pages and closing it again. "Is this what I think it is?"
"Mm, congratulations, it'll be done within the next few months."
A tear fell from Atom's face as he nodded and handed the booklet back. 'Project Atomic' it said on the front. Aphro patted the boy on the back and led him out of the elevator, waving goodbye to the other members of their group.
Aphro pulled Atom into a side alley, kneeling down to his level, and pulling out a handkerchief, wiping his tears away and smiling. Atom closed his eyes before staring into Aphro's.
"You should share this side of you with the others, I'm sure they'll treat you all the same."
The woman shook her head and stood back up to her full height. "I don't want to, I like it like this." She said calmly, slowly leaving Atom alone in the alley. Atom stared at her body walking away, remembering the day he met her.
Flashback, 9 months ago
Atom's face scrunched up as he stared at the woman across from him. His workload had increased massively after Dr. Briefs death, but he only thought of it as karma for his idiocy. But the woman he was dealing with now, Aphro, was quiet, stingy and cold.
She barely responded to any questions of his, and only pushed forward through the meetings at her pace. Atom sighed and closed his eyes, standing up and opening the door to leave.
"Miss Aphro, please learn to respect my own position, I may be a child, but that does not put you in any position to disrespect me as you have today. Consider our meeting finished, we will talk again in a week."
Aphro began to stand up from her chair and blocked the door in front of Atom. "This is very unprofessional Miss Aphro, please remove yourself."
Aphro shook her head and put her hands on Atom's shoulders, turning him around to the table. Atom shook her hands off and sighed. "I don't have time for this childishness Miss Aphro."
Aphro put her hands up to her chest and twiddled her fingers. "I-I'm not being childish." She said, continuing to block the door while blushing.
"Then what are you being? We've spent over 2 hours here and haven't moved an inch in negotiations. You have asked question after question, I have provided all of the answers, yet you won't listen to a single word I say."
"Y-You're hard to talk to."
"Grow up Miss Aphro, not everyone you meet will be a 40 year old business man with 3 kids."
"T-That's not what I mean."
Atom groaned and scratched his head. "I'll give you 5 minutes to explain."
"You're a kid, but you're so scary." Aphro blushed, closing her eyes as to not stare into Atom's.
Atom deadpanned towards her in response but sighed and moved back into his chair. "We can continue, I'll try to be less scary." Atom restricted the ki flowing through his body and lowered it to a simple aura emanating off of him. He heard Aphro audibly gasp before she took her seat.
The two continued to have an extensive meeting on the possibility of Aph cosmetics becoming a subsidiary to Capsule Corporation. Outside of the meeting, Atom and Aphro ended up meeting several more times in the city, becoming good friends, though the age gap was huge between them.
Flashback Over
Atom smiled remembering how shy Aphro once was towards him before he blasted into the sky and headed back towards his house, swiftly removing his 'business clothes'.
He dropped to the floor in front of the main entrance, tapping his key card against the door and heading inside. "I'm home." He called out, slipping off his shoes and heading towards his lab.
"Master Roshi said I have a lot of ki, too much, so I think I should put some of it to use." He said out loud, swinging around on his office chair before turning to the computer at his desk.
"Ki is flexible, magical, and is only limited by your imagination." He pondered looking around his laboratory and brainstorming ideas. "A shield, I use my excess ki and store it until an attack is launched towards the building… But what would I need it for?"
Atom sighed and looked up at the ceiling. "I need to go visit the science department as well, plus I have chem homework, this is going to be a tough day."
The door slowly opened and Atom shot a glance at the entrance, staring at Bikini who had entered. "Hey, I was thinking… would you like to take a trip? Me, you, and Bulma, no work, just a little break for us all."
"Heh, sorry Mum, I have lots on my plate right now, I can't just leave everything behind to go dillydally around on a vacation, it would set a horrible example for my workers."
"Atom… I think you're forgetting you're still just a boy, nobody has asked for you to be the perfect boss, the work can wait, you need a break." Bikini said sympathetically.
Atom palmed the USB in his pocket before closing his eyes and turning back to his computer. "I'll… think about it." He replied. He could feel Bikini's calm smile from across the room before she left, something she always held on her face.
"I guess I should go to the research division now, better early than late." Atom decided, hopping out of his chair and exiting his lab. He entered the research laboratory across the estate, spotting Hoi sorting some documents in his office.
Atom navigated across the cylindrical shaped building, only giving a single glance to his project in the middle of the room. He remembered his first interaction with Hoi as he looked at a large glass screen in the middle of the testing chamber.
Flashback
"I'm sorry for your loss."
Atom looked up from his computer, his darkened eyelids announcing his lack of sleep like a signal. Hoi backed away from the boy in surprise. 'His eyes, they're like a dead fishes'. He thought, regaining his footing, and coughing into his hand.
"I'm the lead developer in the research and development sector, Hoi Poi. Your father actually named the capsules after me haha. He would always talk about you whenever he check on us, he was so proud of you."
Atom's eyes wettened a little bit as he nodded. "Thank you, Hoi, I appreciate that." His face lightened only the slightest bit as he responded.
His reaction hurt Hoi deeply. His boss's son, the spawn of a man he respected deeply was hurting, he was in pain, and yet he had only sat idly by for 3 days until he came to the boy himself.
"I… have something I want to show you." Hoi said, putting his hand on Atom's shoulder and lifting him up. "We've got a few more years until its ready, but I'm sure he wouldn't have minded if I showed you now."
Hoi pulled Atom through the halls, hiding tears of his own as the boy blindly followed without an ounce of emotion. He opened the door to the research division's main testing facility, where his office was located.
"This… is the last thing your father had on the back burner, a present for you."
A large glass window reflected the boy's glowing eye. "It need a lot of fine tuning, and has barely passed even the planning phase, but this is project Atomic, something he had worked on for years in the background.
He loved you Atom, maybe even more than his own flesh and blood daughter, he wanted you to love every part of yourself like he did, so he made project Atomic, a chance for you to explore the things that made you… you!"
Atom's eyes filled with tears as he stared at the large ship in front of him. This was Dr. Briefs magnum opus, his most treasured invention and also the first of its kind.
Once it was finished, it would be the first fully functioning spaceship made by Capsule Corporation, it included several floors with state-of-the-art furnishments and equipment, something Briefs poured his soul into.
"It'll be finished by the time you're sixteen probably, there are so many things we need to get started on, so much we need to do, but I promise it'll be finished, on my pride as one of your father's closest friends, I Hoi Poi, will finish his last project for you." Hoi said pridefully, tears flowing from his own eyes as he stared at the unfinished hull of the machine.
'Briefs… I'll protect your son in your stead, I'll finish what you started, because… because…' Hoi hiccupped and dropped to his knees. The loss of his friend taking its toll. 'Because…'
Flashback End
Atom smiled as he knocked on Hoi's office, politely entering and taking a seat at his desk. "Are we really going to be finished in the next few months!?"
Hoi shook his head and sighed. "I'm sorry Atom, it was a little bit of a fib. Out time still stands as 8 more years, but I have other news that I needed you to hear."
Atom sighed and looked at Hoi. "And what is it?"
"I found a book, I heard a story, there might be a chance to bring back your father!"
"I'm already planning it Hoi, don't worry."
"But, not as a cyborg!"
Atom looked up with his right eye glowing. "Really! How!?"
"An old wives' tale, it mentions a god of this world having created seven magical glowing balls that can grant any wish, reviving people from the dead, immortality, you name it! After hearing that, I found a book that mentioned a floating dome in the sky, where seven magical lights would spread across the earth, never to be seen again. So, we just need to find those orbs, and we can wish back Briefs!" Hoi reported in excitement, holding up an extremely old and dusty book.
"But… how do we find these magical orbs?"
"I already have people searching for them, we will find them soon, don't you worry."
"To find seven tiny orbs across the entire world… I'm starting to think you've gone crazy Hoi."
"I haven't! At least not enough for me to start hallucinating haha!"
"But why did you have to tell me here? Why not in the elevator?"
"I don't trust Toka, not at all."
"Why? She's been helping me, helping us for so long."
Hoi froze up and pointed outside of his office, straight towards where Toka was strutting towards the office, wiping soot off of her face and onto her shirt while she moved.
She swung open the door violently and pulled Atom into a bear hug. "Hey little guy! I just came to grab a file I left here the other day. Do you have it lying around Hoi? It should be a dark green folder with 'Evil secret plans' written on it."
Hoi began to sweat but shrugged. Atom scanned around the room before seeing a folder in said colour sitting on Hoi's desk. "This it?" He chucked it to Toka who opened it and gave the first document a quick look before smiling and nodding. "Yep! That's the one, thanks bud!" She waved goodbye and left the room quickly.
Atom deadpanned towards Hoi, who shook his head. "Hoi, you've gotta be kidding me."
"Who has a folder named evil secret plans!" He retorted, pulling out one of his own that said 'Resource and finance report, July 741'.
"It could be a joke or something, I think you're reading a bit far into this Hoi."
Hoi grunted and put his folder back on the desk. "Maybe, but I just have a bad feeling, can you at least trust that?"
"Of course, tell me if you have any other evidence though, this could be something big." Atom commanded, turning around and leaving the room to see Toka just leaving the building.
'Was she listening to us?' Atom thought, moving towards the door, and peering outside, where Toka strapped her helmet to her head and drove away quickly on her motorcycle.
'It's odd… but… no, its nothing, Hoi's just kidding with me.' He decided, walking back towards the main building on the estate where he would finish his work.
"7 magical wishing orbs huh?" He walked into his lab and looked at his father's frozen corpse, perfectly kept and preserved. "If its true, then I'll find them all and bring you back." He smiled and looked at his desk. "Ugh, I have so much work to do for school."
