Our story picks up on the outskirts of Pewter City as our protagonist enters the city he runs into a man piling rocks on the field he walks up and asks for directions. The man introduces himself as Flint and thant he sells rocks for a living. Ash doesn't care and asks for directions to the Pokemon Center. Flint points in a direction and tells him it's down the street Ash thanks him and walks in the direction. He finds the Pokemon Center and once he enters he is immediately come face to face with another Nurse Joy (Wait what someone explain?!) he gives his Pokeballs to her as she states that he will have to wait as she takes them. He sits down and decides to go and train and battle the gym tomorrow. As he finishes his thoughts Nurse Joy comes and says that a his Pokemon are Healthy. He thanks her and exits the Pokemon Center as he finds a spot to train once he finds it releases all his Pokemon and begin the long and hard training.
Ritchie's Group
We now cut to our second protagonist Ritchie his partner Pikachu and Misty as they looked to have finally got out the forrest and enter Pewter City. Tired after a long walk the decide to sit on some rocks (wait a minute these look familiar) while sitting Flint appears and tells them to get of his products. They apologizes and get as they introduce themselves. Flint decides to take them to the Pokemon Center and when they arrive Ritchie gives Nurse Joy his Pokemon confused on how she is here saying that she was just in Viridian City. Nurse Joy explains that she comes from a large family of Joys (huh that explains a lot) while his Pokemon are being healed Ritchie sees a poster for the Pokemon League and decides to enter as Flint tells him there is a gym here but he'll never beat it as Brock very strong. He says not even that other kid could beat him and he at least looked strong. But this confused the two as they asks what other kid. He tells them of the kid he met an hour wearing a Blue jacket and a Pokemon League hat. They then yell "ASH!" as Flint says that's his name he never got it. As then Nurse Joy calls Ritchie and tells him his Pokemon are healed as Pikachu jumps on his shoulder he thanks her and walks back to Flint and Misty.
They then see something out the window, they look and see leaves flying over the place and hear metal clanging noises. They decide to go and see and to there surprise they see Ash and his Pokemon they look beat as they just got into a battle as they see them battling each other and Ash is doing nothing to stop this. Ritchie then walks and tells Ash to stop them before they get more hurt as Pikachu, Misty and Flint back him up as they need a rest. Ash snaps at them telling them to butt out and that they are his Pokemon and that he can do anything he wants and says they want as all the Pokemon nod giving them a sign that they do want this. The three are shocked as they leave, As soon as they leave Ash gets back to training. They mumble under their breath things about Ash Flint says there is no way he will win against Brock.
The Next Morning/Ash's POV
We see our protagonist get early as he gets something to eat before going of to challenge Brock little does he know Ritchie,Misty and Flint are following once gets to the gym he tells them that they should come out. They didn't know he knew they were following him as they get He asks what they want and they say they want to watch his gym battle. He says they can do whatever they like just don't get in his way as he enters as the rest follow with Flint staying behind. When they enter they are greeted by a brown skin man wearing a Green shirt, Brown Vest and orange pants. He stands on a rock in the middle of the gym and asks who they Ash introduces himself and tells him his is here for a gym badge Brock accepts and tells Ash to follow him as he tells Richie and Misty to sit on the stands.
Both boys now stand on opposite ends of the battle field as Brock explains that this is a 2 on 2 battle Ash is allowed to switch he is not and the battle will end when one sides Pokemon is unable to battle. Ash nods ensuring that he understands and now the battle can begin "Go Geodude!" Brock yells sending out a a rock like Pokemon with a face and arms after scanning it with his Pokèdex Ash says "Spearow get ready to battle!" The bird Pokemon comes out with a cry signalling that it is ready for Battle. Brock is surprising as well as Misty and Ritchie as why would he use a Pokemon that is weak to rock types. Brock says that Ash is foolish for using a flying type to a rock gym but Ash says nothing as now the battle can begin. Brock says Ash can have the first move as Ash yells for a new move he was working on last night as he yells for a Steel Wing as Spearow's wings glow a metallic color before rushing at Geodude and before Brock can command a doge Geodude is hit dealing massive damage. Brock shakes of the shock and compliments Ash for teaching his Pokemon moves to counteract there type advantage, Ash says this basic knowledge and that any should know this as they get back to the battle. Brock tells Geodude to use Rollout as the Pokemon begins to roll like a ball Ash orders a dodge and and strike with another Steel Wing as this hits it is more than Geodude can take and faints. Brock recalls Geodude and sends out a giant rock snake like Pokemon, after checking the Pokedex it says it's name is Onix. He then tells Onix to use Wrap as it tries to wrap itself and crush Spearow orders a Sand-Attack blinding the rock snake as he orders Steel Wings which all hit Onix doing massive damage Brock orders a Slam which hits doing a lot of damage as Ash orders another new move Brave Bird as Spearow is in cased in blue fire as it zooms towards Onix hitting it hard and causing a double knockout but Ash won because he still had Bulbasaur to use.
Brock congratulates Ash as he gives him the gym badge Ash thanks him and leaves the gym as Ritchie and Misty looked shock as wasn't just running his mouth he had the skill to back it up as Ritchie has then asks Brock for a gym battle as Brock accepts but says later as his Pokemon needs to be healed Ritchie accepts and runs after Ash. When he catches up he asks what Ritchie wants and Ritchie asks him to watch his gym badge Ash declines but Ritchie annoys him until he accepts so tomorrow will be Ritchie's first gym badge.
