Chapter 9: Mt.Moon and Ash's new Pokemon
Our story picks up on route 5 just exiting Pewter City as our protagonist keeps walking he ends up encountering something rare. A Charmander one of the starters that he could have chosen it looks to be fighting some wild Pokemon and winning. It was using moves like Flamethrower, Dragon Breath, Ancient Power and Counter. Ash was of course impressed with the little fire Pokemon that he caught it and smirked adding a powerful Pokemon to his team. He continued walking eventually reaching the base of Mt.Moon a big mountain/cave that should take him to Cerulean City if he made it out so headed inside.
While walking around he sees Pokemon like Zubat and Sandshrew but none of them were strong enough to join his team as he decided to try and get out of this cave as he keeps walking a hoard of Zubats begin flying around like crazy. As gets away from them he see what was making act like that, There was a bunch of lights hung up in the walls of the cave. The Pokedex did say that Zubat love dark places so this must be bothering them. He did not care and just decided to ignore them as he kept walking he ended running into a whole Team Rocket operation in the cave they must have been the ones to do this but decided to just forget them and go but before he could leave of course he had to run into Ritchie and his group with whom looks to be a Scientist.
He asks what they were doing here and Ritchie says they were passing through to get to Cerulean City. Ash told them to leave as Team Rocket was here. Ritchie says they know and Ash points to the three familiar faces of Jessie, James and Meowth as they are digging away at a giant rock. They then explain that that is a Moonstone and it belongs to the Clefairy. He was shocked he didn't expect to here that there are Clefairy here he would have captured one they are rare. But the scientist saw his face and said that nobody is allowed to capture Clefairy as that would disturb them. Ash scoffs but decides not to capture the Pokemon but is just looking for a way o get out of this place.
Eventually They do stop the evil team and rescue the Clefairy and moonstone and of course the group was surprised that Ash had caught such a Powerful Charmander as he was used to beat to the team and believe Charmander looked like he could take on a whole horde of Pokemon. Ash didn't really want to help as why should he care about these Pokemon but Richie made him do it and eventually he helped stop Team Rocket. Before they could thank Ash for his reluctant help he is gone. As we see our hero walk out of the cave glad he was able to get away from them and he finally arrived at Cerulean City the site of his second gym badge.
