Chapter 12: School of Hard Knocks
Our picks up in a Forrest as our protagonist is now battling wild Pokemon to get stronger and beat Ritchie next time. While battling he notices something and decides to go and see what it was as it was starting to annoy him. After trekking a bit he finds the source of the sound and of course he found Ritchie and his group he never seems to not run into them. They asked what he was doing here and so Ash explains that is none of their business as he asks what is happening.
They point in front of them, it shows a boy running on a treadmill with a bunch of other boys asking him questions on certain things and he saw that when answered wrong they speed it up. Ash is wondering on what kind of stupidity is this but Ritchie says he has had enough and goes to stop them before the kid he gets hurt and asks Ash for help. Ash could care less but decides to help because he notices the uniforms of Pokemon Tech (Explanations later). So they help the kid and he introduces himself as Joe, He explains that he is from Pokemon Tech a school that if they pass it will be a straight shot to the Pokemon League. Ash explains that he heard about it and finds it quite pathetic and easy pass there are no easy passes and you need to work hard for anything.
Joe decides to take them to the school Ash decides to go and but only to battle the strongest student. They take a tour of the school and Joe shows them a battle simulator which can show them virtual battles. Misty says that there is no way that can help in any real battle and surprisingly Ash agrees but Joe says he can beat her easily just like in the simulator. So they have a battle which ends just as it started quick with Misty using Starmie and telling it to use Water Gun on Joe's Victreebel ending the battle super quick. After the very short battle a girl comes up and tells Joe that he should have known about Starmie's battle experience. The girl then introduces herself as Giselle and she is the top student of Pokemon Tech.
After that Joe tells them that she treats him pretty but for some reason he has a picture? of her on him. Making Ritchie and Brock blush and Misty to ask why he has her picture he says he hates the way she treats us but he likes the way she looks. Ash doesn't have time for this and decides to challenge her to a battle. This gets everyone's attention as she accepts thinking that she will win. She sends out a Graveler Ash and Ritchie checks it with their Pokèdex causing everyone to be shocked and asks if they are real Pokèdex holders causing both boys to nod. Giselle then says that she will make him a deal if he wins she will stop being so mean to Joe but if she wins he has to give up being a Pokemon trainer.
Ash accepts and so the battle will begin as he sends out Spearow. This makes her and everyone else (minus Ritchie's Group and Joe) laugh as why would he a flying type. But he just tells her to begin she orders a Rollout as the Pokemon rolls and attempts to hit the flying type but Ash orders Steel Wing as it hits the Boulder Pokemon knocking it out in one hit shocking everyone. She then returns Graveler and sends out Cubone Ash leaves in Spearow and tells her to watch and learn as he orders a Brave Bird which flies at the baby Pokemon and before she could even call a command knocking it out winning Ash the battle. He recalls Spearow Ash she falls to the floor distraught she lost? how?
As he walks up to her and says she is pretty strong saying that she could beat anyone else and tells her move forward as he helps her up making her blush (If you want them to be together just say and yes I will be aging people up) as he walks away telling her to hold up her end of the deal leaving everyone shocked as she stands the flustered. After that things changed and she apologies to Joe and they tell Ritchie good luck on getting to the League and gives him something telling him to give this to Ash which is a picture of her. They tell her they will and says their farewells.
