"So we only get two years in this place to train, huh? Too bad. Thought we might as well train until we're all as old as master Roshi." Krillin bitterly joked after Kami had finished explaining the place and it's rules, earning Krillin a wack in the back of the head from Roshi.
Chichi bit her lip, considering the place in deep contemplation.
"Do you really think two years here will be enough for us to have a chance?" She softly inquired with doubt to Kami.
"If you all train seriously enough, yes." Kami nodded as he met her eyes. "Because in reality, you will all have three years to train. Two in the hyperbolic time chamber and a year outside until Freiza arrives."
"So what are we waiting for?" The chilly unexpected voice that almost sounded like a bark startled most of the Z Warriors including Chichi herself.
Piccolo had been so silent that Chichi had forgotten he had been there with them. Everyone in the endless white room looked over at him.
With all eyes on him, Piccolo folded his arms across his chest, his sneer showing off one of his fangs.
"The two years we spend here in intense training could be our only real way of getting us a shot at defeating this guy so I for one am ready to start now. The sooner the better. Why waste our time standing here diddle daddling and blabbering on when we can get things started?"
The others in the room looked over at each other and had to reluctantly agree. Discussions of who should go first? began starting up and along with what pairings?
"Wait, guys! Hold up!" Piped Bulma over the others. "I just got an awesome idea! I know, nothing out of the norm, right?," She grinned proudly with her nose in the air.
Kami says only fighters can go two at a time to train in this room together because of the food supply shortage, right? Well, I can just head on over to Capsule Corp and get some food capsules and stuff so all of you can train together!"
Goku and his friends all smiled largely at the thought while Vegeta's brow negatively twitched at the idea of spending two years living in close proximity to Goku. If he didn't end up at least castrating the oaf during that time together he would count it an astonishing feat.
"Count me and the royals out." Voiced Piccolo, wiping the smiles off of everyone's faces and shocking Chichi and Vegeta.
"Us three will train separately from the others in this chamber for two years." stated the Namekian without question to the stunned crowd.
"Excuse me?" Chichi rudely asked Piccolo after recovering from her surprise, placing her hands on her hips. "And why is that, Piccolo? That's not for you to decide. I want to train with the others and stay far away from you. If anything you should be excluded. Why don't you train for two years alone instead?"
Vegeta chuckled maliciously in agreement.
"Really, Namek. I don't recall asking you to be in charge of my two-year schedule." added the Saiyan Prince.
Piccolo clenched his fists, baring his fangs.
"Listen up, future king and queen of stupidity." Roughly barked the young Namekian. "Believe me, I'd rather spend my next two years away from you two and the rest of the annoying pains in my backside!
But try to use your heads for once! Vegeta, excluding Goku, you and I are the strongest in the group, but if either of us has to spend two years with Goku one of us is going to end up killing him."
Vegeta's cocky smirk was washed off his face by the villain's words, replace with a serious yet annoyed expression.
"Vegeta with your soon-to-be spousal jealousy and my personal vendetta... It would only be a matter of time. Understand?" Snapped Piccolo.
And Princess, hell will be freezing over before your lover boy here doesn't hold back from seriously injuring you in training. I'm the key to what you need to increase your powers. Unlike the others, I don't give a damn about you being a princess or a woman when it comes to making you into a true warrior. So I definitely won't be holding too much back. I can and will make you stronger because it's what we need to defeat Freiza and his soldiers."
Chichi's eyes grew wide.
Everything her rival has said so far she reluctantly had to admit made perfect sense. She looked over at Vegeta, trying to imagine him seriously hitting her, and no matter how hard she tried she just couldn't picture it.
Vegeta gritted his teeth, avoiding Piccolo's menacing eyes while cursing him in his mind. He looked over at Chichi who also looked to be hit with the clear logic Piccolo had laid out for them.
"You made your point, Namekian. Fine." Spat Vegeta. "We'll train with you, but speak to us again in such a way and I'll rip that purple tongue out of your mouth before I do much worse." Venomously threatened Vegeta.
Piccolo scowled in response, his cold eyes darkening.
Chichi's hands curled into fists in disbelief and disappointment at the situation.
Only in her worst nightmares would she have ever imagined she'd be having to spend two years with the monster who had nearly murdered the man she had once loved.
In a perfect world Vegeta and I would be occupied with planning our marriage now. Not-
A gasp escaped Chichi's lips. She stood up straighter and her lips parted as she remembered the bright sun shining outside and her needing to answer Vegeta's proposal.
Cheeks heating up, she looked over at Vegeta and turned to him, placing a hand on his shoulder, breaking the battle of glares going on between him and Piccolo.
Vegeta was immediately taken aback by her unexpected touch and then by her soft and tender-eyed expression, the pink coloring her face grew his bewilderment.
"Vegeta, please come outside. I need to speak to you in private for a moment." Chichi softly pleaded.
With a stunned look Vegeta gave a nod and he followed, the two making their way out of the room of confused people. Walking out the doorway, she led them to stand alone near the edge of the lookout.
"What is it woman? What did you wish to talk to me about?" Vegeta asked with a raised brow, watching her as she watched the clouds below, her back facing him.
She turned around and faced Vegeta, eyes twinkling.
"I'm sorry for taking you aside like this when we were having such an important discussion Vegeta, but I just remembered something really important."
She grabbed Vegeta's hands, her bold action catching him off gaurd and making him blush a little.
"Just look, the sun is shining over us and now I can give you an answer to your proposal. Yes, I want to marry you Vegeta. My Prince." Chichi smiled.
"Oh, this is so romantic." Gushed Bulma to Yamcha as they stood far off in the distance, watching the two. Yamcha stood awkwardly, feeling horrible and like a creep as he eavesdropped on such a personal moment. Against his wishes, Bulma had dragged him along with her to spy on the couple.
Meanwhile, Piccolo with his superb hearing could hear everything that was going on outside of the time chamber with the door being opened.
Ugh. if this gets any more sappy I'm gonna puke up the water I drank earlier. Thought the Namekian with a look of discomfort on his face.
Vegeta had received her confession in shock, his large eyes showing his disbelief at what he had heard. The reminder of his proposal and waiting for her answer came rushing back.
His lips turned upwards before turning into a smirk that showed off his teeth.
The Prince couldn't help but gleefully consider how everything was all coming together. Now he was getting the woman he loved and wanted, soon in three years time he would defeat Freiza, and then he and his bride could focus on having children, all while they began to conquer the universe together.
Vegeta chuckled to himself lightheartedly at her announcement, his tail slightly swaying.
He placed a hand on the side of her face, cradling it.
"Believe me, woman. You will never regret your decision this day. I'll make sure of it."
When you're sitting on a throne beside mine I will spoil you until your heart is content. The galaxy will fear both of us together. One day when I show and explain to you how far violence can get you in this world... then you'll understand just how much I have to offer you.
Vegeta took a step closer to Chichi, determined to kiss her but became still as if made out of stone when he spotted the approaching couple heading their way.
He glared daggers at the blue haired woman and scarred man, breaking the dazzling spell he had placed on Chichi.
What the hell do they want now? Can't they see they're interrupting a private matter?!
Vegeta took a reluctant step back from his fiancee and clenched his hands into fists, picturing slaughtering the two heading towards them with one blast.
Chichi turned to see who had interrupted them when by the time she had turned she was met with two arms taking her into an ecstatic embrace.
"Did I just hear this right? You and your guy are engaged now?" Bulma asked cheerfully.
"Uh, yes." Chichi confessed shyly with a squeek, wondering why Bulma and Yamcha had intruded on their private moment. She felt slightly ticked off by it, but knowing Bulma was a smart woman, it had to be with good reason that she had. Hopefully.
Bulma clapped her hands, letting out a happy squeal. She hugged Chichi again.
"Congratulations to you both!" Bulma cried out but then gasped right after, her face quickly turning serious.
She released Chichi from her tight hug and the grave look on her face caught the princess off guard.
"Well then. There's no time to waste!" Bulma said. "Let's get you two married today! If it's okay with you guys I mean?"
Vegeta, Chichi, and Yamcha were immediately left opened mouthed.
"W-What? Why so soon?" Chichi questioned once she found her voice. "It's not that I wouldn't marry Vegeta now or anything, but we got to gather money and prepare for everything."
Bulma tilted her head with sadness in her eyes.
"Well, think about it, Honey. With everything that's going to happen in the future with all the training and stuff you two and everyone will be doing ...there won't even be time for you guys to have a real marriage celebration with all your friends anytime soon." Bulma frowned.
Vegeta scoffed.
"You think I consider you and Kakarott's other groupies as friends? Get real-" The Saiyan began cruelly but was cut off with Chichi's hand covering his mouth as she let out a nervous laugh to Bulma.
"Everyone will be too busy to stop training because they'll be worrying about this Freiza creep." Bulma continued, Vegeta's words seemingly going unnoticed by her. "You don't have to worry about the money, I'll pay for it all and have it all arranged."
Chichi's hand fell like dead weight off of Vegeta's stunned face.
"There's no way on earth we could accept your offer, Bulma!" Chichi cried out at the overwhelmingly kind offer. Besides, I have plenty of money to pay for everything-"
"But I have so much more than you that I can freely spend without worrying, Chi." Bulma winked. "Your money should be well spent on your people and taking care of your home. Let me do this one thing, Chichi. Please?
You'll be doing me a favor too if you let me do this. I love weddings and celebrations. I can get the wedding and everything ready just like that." She finished with a snap of her finger and thumb to prove a point. "I got all the connections."
Chichi brought her hand to her chest, feeling her heart pound happily away at the offer. She glanced over to Vegeta, meeting his eyes and asking him without words what he thought.
Even without speaking, she could tell what he was thinking as he looked at her.
"If the foolish blue haired human wants to throw away her cash on us, why should we decline? It's her loss of fortune. It's your choice on what we do, woman. She's your friend after all."
"We'll gratefully accept your offer, Bulma. Thank you. I can't tell you how much this means to me." Chichi smiled, her hands on her cheeks as she pictured herself in a wedding dress and walking down the aisle to meet Vegeta.
Bulma's serious face swiftly lit up and she did a short happy dance. She looked over at Yamcha who still looked ashamed like he was standing in his underwear in front of a large audience.
"Yamcha, I get to plan a wedding! Can you believe it?!" Bulma practically sang.
Yamcha who had been standing a bit hunched over, stood up straighter, shifting where he stood and avoiding Vegeta and Chichi's eyes.
"Uh...yeah, Babe. Just heard it. That's great news. Can I er... leave now?"
The happiness on Bulma's face was replaced with fury and her eyes burned with anger as she looked at Yamcha.
Yamcha turned blue in the face with fear, wondering what he had said that was so wrong.
"NO YOU CAN'T LEAVE! YOU NEED TO HELP VEGETA OUT WITH THE WEDDING!" Bulma screeched.
"Help out?!" Cried out Yamcha fearfully in response and waving his hands frantically. "Baby, I'm not a wedding planner. What good can I do?!"
Bulma took in a deep breath and sighed, placing her hands on her hips.
"Tons, Hot stuff. He's an alien. Vegeta doesnt know traditional earthling marriage customs and things. And definitely not ours in our land in particular. Help him out with that. Find a suit for him and help him pick out a ring for Chichi. Take him to that barbershop you love and get him a fresh shave. Give him a bath too while you're at it. Don't skip out on the shampoo."
"A bath! Vegeta growled through clenched teeth and the faint whispers of his ki appeared around him.
Does this foolish earth woman think I don't bathe?!
Chichi desperately hushed Vegeta, placing her hands on his chest and reminding him under her breath of the money Bulma was giving them. The blue haired genius was clueless of the immediate threat on her life as she pulled out of her pocket a pink wallet. The prince's anger was now mostly subdued, thanks to Chichi's quiet pleas and reminders as Bulma plucked out from it a credit card and tossed it to Yamcha who almost dropped it.
"Get going you two and meet us back at Chichi's castle when you're done." Order Bulma. Everything should be ready at the castle in an hour."
Yamcha looked completely overwhelmed as he stared at the credit card in his hand as if he was holding a new magical creature he had never heard of .
He shook his head, collecting himself after the shock subsided and released a breath in defeat, clutching the card in his hand.
"Alright. Got to make my gal happy then." He murmured. He looked over at Vegeta.
"Follow me, man. Let's get you cleaned up first then go shopping."
Yamcha took off, while Vegeta gave Chichi a final thoughtful look, considering how the next time they would be seeing each other it would be during their marriage ceremony. Not before giving her a respectful nod he flew off, following Yamcha in pursuit.
"Okay. Now that they're gone it's time to work my magic." Smiled Bulma as she took out her phone from her back pocket and began dialing like a maniac. She stepped away from Chichi once a voice was heard answering on the other end of the phone.
Chichi watched as Bulma began talking a mile in a minute, almost not comprehending what she was saying.
A tap on her shoulder got Chichi's attention. She looked and seen Kami standing right behind her, his brow ridges furrowed.
"Oh, uh. Yes, Kami?" She awkwardly asked, wondering what he wanted.
"Princess, there's something important you need to know before you consider marrying Prince Vegeta."
Chichi blinked in surprise and her stomach twisted nervously. Whatever he was about to say, she knew it wasn't good by just the tone of his voice and the sad look in his eyes.
"Y-Yes, Kami?" She stammered and then swallowed hard.
Please don't tell me he's in love with somebody else. She thought fearfully. Oh, no. What if he's in love with some beautiful alien woman I can't compete with and this marriage is just a sham to get in my pants before he finds a way to return back to her?
Chichi pictured a beautiful curvaceous alien woman with blue skin and dark emerald luxurious hair.
I'll kill him and that hussy! She mentally growled and gritted her teeth.
"No! No! Nothing like that is happening!" Stated Kami frantically with a nervous laugh and waving his hands in front of her face.
The rage coursing through Chichi's veins was immediately extinguished.
"Oh, right. I forgot you could read minds. Hehehe..." Chichi said laughing nervously and wishing to hide away thanks to her embarrassment. "Oh. Then what is it that I should know?"
Her innocent manner of asking reminded the old Namekian of child like innocence and he wished the responsibility of being the bearer of bad news hadn't fallen on him.
"Vegeta is not the man he claimed to you that he was." Kami stated gravely.
