Stabler flew into the ambulance bay with lights and sirens, barely putting the car into park before he sprung from his seat. He ran through the front doors and towards the captain.

"What happened? Where is she?" he asked, his voice full of concern and fear.

"She passed out while she was interrogating the suspect. She had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured. She lost a lot of blood. She's still in surgery, but the doctors said she will make" Cragen said calmly as he placed his hands out to slow the detective.

"And the baby?" El asked in anguish. Cragen sighed.

"I'm sorry Elliot." Stabler took a few steps backward, his vision becoming foggy with tears.

"I- I- I don't get it. She was fine this morning," Elliot stammered. "She was fine this morning..."

"I'm really sorry Elliot. There was nothing either of you could have done." Nothing either of you could have done rang over and over in Stabler's ears. Nothing you could have done. There had to have been something he could have done. It was his duty to protect his child.

"I need to see her," El said pushing past his Captain, the fear now replaced with anger.

"El, wait. She will be out of surgery soon. Then you can go see her in recovery." Cragen grabbed the detective's arm, stopping him. "You need to calm down before you go in there. Olivia needs you to be there for her, and you can't do that while you're angry." The words the captain said hit El like a truck, but he was right. He was not much help when his anger was clouding his judgement. Much to his disapproval, he waited with the captain until the doctor came out to get them.

Olivia took a deep breath in as she opened her eyes, her vision coming into focus. She looked around, taking note of the lines and monitors that she was connected to. She looked down and saw her partner seated next her and leaning against the bed asleep, her hand in his. She repositioned in bed, accidently waking him up.

"You're awake," he said surprised as he sat up.

"What happened?" Liv asked as she rubbed her eyes. Elliot didn't answer right away, instead giving her a sad look. "El?" The detective took a deep breath in before answering.

"You collapsed while you were questioning Carl. They had to take you into emergency surgery." Elliot paused. Concern washed across his partner's face.

"El. What are you not telling me?"

"We lost the baby Liv," he sighed.

"No," Olivia's voice cracked.

"It had implanted in your fallopian tube, which ruptured and caused you to bleed internally. They had to remove your right ovary and fallopian tube. I'm so sorry Liv..."

"No," was all she could say as her tears turned into sobs. Elliot's heart broke seeing Olivia like this. He stood up and climbed onto the bed next to her, pulling her close. Liv buried her face into his chest, her tears staining his shirt.

"I'm so sorry Liv," El mumbled into her hair as he kissed the top of her head, tears forming in his own eyes. "I'm so sorry." He tightened his embrace around her as she melted into him. Elliot held her for hours, the two eventually drifting off to sleep in each other's arms.
