Mother advice Part 2
Chapter Summary: Tang Shen has her moments with her second youngest son and Donnie isn't impressed at all that his baby brother is walking out of the lair when the turtles are sleeping, all to deal with street gangs. Baxter is questioning the word Booyasksha and really Mikey don't make up words.
Notes: So, it turned out that this might not be 2 parts. Since I still have to finish up the third part as of the moment you read this. (unless you're a future reader that found this story after it was mark complete. By the way hi. Is Earth still a thing?) And, by the way I look very happy to show you guys because reasons. Thanks to all my lovely readers and those that stay in to review as will.
Disclaimer: Is Mikey a time traveler that died, deals with a lack of sleep, nightmares on a nigh time bases. Goes around making deals with street gang, keeping secrets from his family, has panic attacks and downright an emotional mess. With three worried older brothers to deal with? No, okay then clearly, I don't own TMNT.
"He's not crazy."
Raph is the first to defend Mikey the moment Mr. O'Neil speaks up about his offer to help the youngest member of the clan. Donnie knows that his offer for help is not what Raph seemed to think it is and personally Donnie is glad that someone other than family is willing to help. Mikey is fast asleep on the couch his whole family around him. As, the youngest is still mumbling about evil pizza and cursed music.
"I'm not saying he is," Mr. O'Neil said. "I just want to help and maybe these sessions with me might at least help us understand what fully goes on in your brother mind."
"You're making him sound like he's insane," Raph shouts.
Donnie wonders how his brother is able to sleep with all of them in the same room, but Mikey had always been odd like that. He still remembered the panic attack his baby brother had when they we're tots, when Mikey saw his room empty.
"No, I am not. I just want to try and help him. If this keeps up, I fear what could happen with his mind."
"My dad right guys," April said. "It's his job to help people about these kinds of things. If anyone can help him dad can."
Raph mutters and frowns, but Donnie knows there is a part of his older brother that is questioning things. If Mikey does open up to Mr. O'Neil, then no doubt there be some seriously questions being asked. Why would Mikey even tell a stranger about any of his problems over his own family, didn't their baby brother trust them? Donnie can't let his own doubt rule his feelings over this matter. All he does is rub his baby brother head and smiles softly as Mikey tensed face changed to a peaceful and content.
Donnie decided to go to his mother with his problem. Donnie didn't normally go to Tang Shen for help, mainly because he finds himself questioning himself whenever he is in the spirit world. How does this work? Is it possible, is it real, was he dreaming? He must be making it up is often what goes on in Donnie mind whenever his mother speaks to him through his dreams. He didn't connect to the astral world as easy as, Master Splinter, Leo and Mikey did. Raph and he had always found it a little hard to do so.
Yet, he's here standing on the realm that isn't at all earth his mother smiling proudly at him.
"Hello my son."
"Mum."
She smiled at him sweetly.
"I already know your worry my genius," she said to him.
"I just don't get it. Why does he think he can help Mikey when we've been trying for years?"
"Mr. O'Neil heart is in the right place. As of now he sees you all as children it breaks his heart a little to see a child such as your brother going through his struggles. It is why he wishes to help. He does not mean any harm by doing so my son. He also holds no judgement about our family."
He frowned that wasn't the answer he was looking for at all.
"Can't you just tell us?"
She looked at him with a strange expression.
"Mum I know your hiding something." he paused. "You know don't you. You've always known about Mikey nightmares and what caused them. Why won't you tell us?"
His mother looked sad and for a moment Donnie didn't understand what the caused of her sadness was.
"That secret is for your brother to know."
His eye twitched and he groaned this conversation was not getting anywhere.
"Mikey won't even tell me what's bothers him. He forgets to even tell us when he's leaving the lair unless Master Splinter informs us. And, you want me to trust my brother to just tell us about his nightmares? When he's refused to on a number of occasions."
His mother didn't answer him she just stare as if he or already knew the answer.
"Lack of sleep is bad for one health," he told her. "It can kill a person. I cannot handle the fact of my baby brother dying young because he refused to take a nap."
"And, this is why he is working so hard to save you," she said.
He paused and looked at her really looked at her. She looked as if she had just watched her whole family be killed in front of her and had been there to feel the pain of the worst lost in the world. The worst part unable to help due to herself being a spirit and not fully alive.
Then everything clicks in Donnie head.
"You're from the future. You're both from the future."
He remembered his brother words talking about how he and everybody else was dead, talking about the girl child that was taken away. They ended up meeting one female and his mind froze. He was not going to be the one that wins April heart. He would had cried over that fact he really would have, but honestly his baby brother being a time traveler and coming from who knows where pushed that fact to the side because his brother lived through it. He lived through it seen it all.
I die Dee.
And, died.
"He died," Donnie screamed out lout. "My brother died."
"My son you must calm your mind," his mother said. "Your mind is getting distracted. I am losing the connection with you. Please my son."
He was packing and his mother voice was a faint whisper everything turned dark.
"Donnie. Donnie. Dee, big brother wake, up."
Donnie knows that voice his eyes snap open and he finds his brothers looming him.
"Where the O'Neil's?" Donnie asked.
He didn't want to look at Mikey at all that had so much concerned for him. It all made sense no wonder his baby brother worried about his brother's so much.
"April left a while ago. You've been asleep for three hours Donnie before you woke up screaming," Leo explained.
"You okay Dee?" Mikey asked.
Donnie was not crying no he wasn't, but he couldn't help but think of a much older Mikey that went on and possible lived alone and saw his family killed in front of him.
"I'm alright. Just a bad dream."
"Want to talk about it?" Leo asked, Raph was surprising silent.
"Mikey was from the future," he said.
Trying to give his brothers a hint about what was going in Mikey head space. He noticed the way Mikey had flinched.
"And, he was left alone. I saw him die."
The two oldest flinched at that and Mikey seemed to want to leave, there was shame there and Donnie wonder why it was there at all.
Donnie wanted to work in his lab he really did, but his baby brother needed rest and seem to want to be with him.
"Don, we need to talk," Mikey said.
"Sure Mike."
"Did you really have a dream about me dying?"
"No," he admitted. "I had a conversation with mum. She didn't tell me, but I worked it out and freaked out when I did. I lost the connection because of it and woke up screaming. I figure you didn't want Leo and Raph to know about you being a time traveler."
Mikey rubbed his shoulder and looked to the ground.
"Mike talk to me buddy. At least tell me I didn't lose my mind."
Maybe he's wrong, maybe his brother isn't a time traveler.
"You're not wrong."
It was true.
"I've been awful. I've been keeping it a secret I didn't mean to Dee, I just."
Donnie saw the panic and the last thing Donnie wanted was Mikey to having a panic attack. Too many could put a serious amount of stress on his heart and the last thing he wanted was his baby brother dying of a heart attack.
"It's alright Mikey. You did what you thought was best. I wouldn't tell the others about it either. It's a lot to take in. You we're worried about us saying you we're lying, weren't you?"
"Yeah dude, but not telling the truth seem to only make things worse. Now, everybody worried about my stupid problems."
"Mike, your problems are not stupid. From what I know you lived through hell itself. Did you really see everybody die?"
Mikey nodded his head and there's tears in his eyes.
"I saw you all go. Leo was first, then Raph, and then Casey, then April and her kid and then you left me Dee and I was alone. New York was a mess and even the humans still didn't want me around them unless I was protecting them from the Foot."
"Foot?"
"You don't know about them. Just remember Dee when we start fighting things that are not aliens or robots then there the real threat."
"There really are ninjas in New York that aren't us."
Mikey nodded his head.
"Dee, the others want me start talking to Mr. O'Neil. They told me about it when I woke up before you started screaming. Am I really that bad that I need to see someone like him?"
"Oh, Mikey that's not it. That's not why he wants to help. You're not going to him because we think you're crazy. He wants to help because he doesn't like seeing you like this."
He remembered what his mother told him before he had freaked out. He remembered her words and maybe before Donnie didn't want anyone to talk to his baby brother that wasn't family. Since it was only a reminded that his own family couldn't help him, but now he knows a little about Mikey problems the least he could do was try.
"It's not healthy Mikey. You're not insane or anything like that and we don't think you're crazy either. We're just worried."
"Do you think I should go?"
"I didn't before."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I didn't want you to go before because I thought I had failed you. But I think you talking to him and sharing small bits about what you see in your dreams might help. Maybe that's what you need is someone new to talk to. I'm sure this happened in your timeline didn't it?"
Mikey frowned at him and shakes his head.
"No dude, I didn't have this problem last time. I wasn't even leader."
"You weren't?"
Donnie really couldn't see anybody else being leader at all, maybe Leo but he seemed so controlling sometimes and Raph never listened to their older brother at all.
"Nah bro, that was Leo. I messed up the timeline big time dude."
"You'd have to tell me about it then. And, Mikey the choice is up to yours. If you want to talk to him you can. If you don't you don't have to."
There was a small little smile on Mikey and Donnie had never seen that smile before not since way back when they we're tots.
"Hey bro, want to hear about some things I have changed?"
Donnie smiled and nodded because why not.
So, Mikey told him a timeline where Leo was leader, where Baxter was actually a bad guy and Donnie hanged on listening to every word thinking how it all made sense.
Donnie had fallen asleep shortly after Mikey. Mikey was unable to bring himself to speak anymore, something to do with a farm house and an injured Leo. Donnie wasn't sure, but he didn't push Mikey if anything Donnie was amazed that his baby brother opened as much as he did. He supposed Mikey had always wanted to tell them, but fear their reaction the most either that or Mikey knew there was no use in keeping it all in if his one of his brothers knew about his past. Which lead Donnie here on the floor and had fallen out of bed, tangle in his sheets.
When he would fall out of his lab chair, he didn't have this problem that was his bed sheets. He frowned; someone was missing. Donnie got up and checked around the lair, everybody was fast asleep even Master Splinter it was too early for anyone to be up and Donnie wasn't surprised to find out he had only gotten three hours, worth of sleep.
"Mikey?"
Donnie looked all over the lab, all over the lair everywhere and no sight of his only baby brother he grew worried, but with his T-phone he was able to use it to track Mikey down. He was thankful that his little brother had at least carried his phone with him. Donnie left a note for his family in the kitchen explaining where he was going it was the least, he could do. If Mikey and him got back before anyone wakes up, Donnie could just remove the letter and nobody would know. He popped opened the manhole and followed the tracker.
"Will look at this another one."
Donnie froze. He was on the roof top by the time he heard someone speak and there was nowhere else to duck and hide. Tucking his t-phone back into his weapon belt and bringing out his bo-staff he looked at the three strangers.
"Who are you?" he demanded.
"Boss, I think we should tell him. The last thing we want is Mikey kicking our butts again he did say to stay away from his clan."
Donnie eyes widen and he looked at the three.
"You guys know Mikey."
"Depends on who's asking. I'm Fong," he pointed to the tall one. "That's Sid and other there is Tsoi. We own these streets most fear our names just by being mentioned, we're the Purple Dragons after all. I'm sure you've heard of us."
Donnie hadn't heard of them at all.
"Nope," he said popping out the p.
The three looked hurt.
"Hey no fair that hurts," Sid said holding his stomach as if he was punched there.
"Look I don't have time for a chat. If you don't know Mikey."
"Booyasksha."
Donnie moved out of the way as his baby brother had leaped in front of them and landed on the ground, cracking his knuckles and moving his neck to the side.
"You dudes not messing with my big bro, are you?"
The three of them went pale and Donnie grew suspicious.
"No way New boss," Sid said.
"New boss. I'm the leader," Fong sneered.
"Will yeah, but the kid pretty scary Fong."
"Sid makes a point," Tsoi agreed.
"Mikey."
Donnie turned around and noticed Baxter darting towards them he halted and almost tripped over his own feet before catching himself.
"Booyasksha?" Baxter asked. "What kind of word is that? You cannot go about making up words."
"I'm not making them up," Mikey said.
"Then what does it mean?" Baxter noticed Donnie. "Oh, hello Donnie."
"You know I still don't know."
Baxter glared at Mikey like an unimpressed teacher marking a student homework.
"That's even worse. That means you're just going around making up words. Wait Donnie, what are you doing out?"
"Oh, you've decided to finally asked me?" Donnie said.
Baxter chuckled nervously around the turtle only Mikey ever really got along with the man, but then again Mikey just made strange and questionable friends. Donnie also supposed maybe there's apart of him that knows that Baxter is meant to be something different. Mikey placed an arm around Donnie shoulder.
"Guys this is my brother. One of them anyway, Donnie meet the Purple Dragon."
"Yeah, I already have. Now, if you lot don't mind, I want to speak to my baby brother."
"That's not a problem," Fong said.
"Alone." Donnie said, walking away from the group just enough so they didn't hear the following conversation. "Mike, what are you doing?"
"Midnight walk," Mikey answered.
"Midnight walk. Midnight walk in the middle of New York city. Don't do it again do you know how worried I was when I woke up and I didn't see you there. No note, no message, nothing I was so close in waking up everybody else but decided not to."
"Sorry Dee."
Donnie couldn't be mad at that face the sad little face that Mike makes as if he made, the worst mistake in his life and didn't know how to fix it. He hugged his brother he was pretty sure someone was crying like they we're watching a sob story. Breaking the hug apart Donnie sighed.
"Just don't go running off like that again. Promise, now come home."
"No can-do dude."
"I beg you're pardon."
Donnie wanted to slap himself because surely, he was still dreaming and he would wake up and Mikey would be there with him.
"I've got a Dragon problem. There's this new tough guy on the street. He's been trying to get the Purple Dragons on his side for weeks, but they don't want anything to do with him. He's not listening. I figure I'll show him who's boss."
"Is he those ninjas?"
"Nah dude. Just Hun, a real pain but mainly towards Casey. And, if Casey going to be a part of the group, I'm not having him here."
"Why not?"
"Hun and Case have a rivalry. The guy too stubborn I just had a conversation with him a couple of minutes ago, but he won't take no as an answer. He wants to fight me. The last one standing takes leadership of the Purple Dragons."
Donnie looked at his baby brother that seemed so confident that he could win. He looked over to the three of them and looked at his baby brother.
"Yeah no, you are not going to fight over a street gang."
"Dee, you don't get it do you? Street gangs are like pecking orders the one in power now might be a pain, but the next one that comes along could be worse. The guys are like little puppies trying to be tough. So, they go around beating up people they can win. If Hun takes over as leader then they will have no choice and they be fighting against us. I can't have more people fighting against us Dee. I've messed up the timeline already," Mikey whispered.
"Alright, I'll let you do this."
Mikey fist pumped.
"Thanks bro."
"But I'm also coming with you."
Mikey looked at him with wide eyes.
"No way bro."
"Yes, way. Beside someone has to look after you're shell if this Hun character hurts you too bad."
Mikey groaned and hid his face with his hand.
"Guys, hope you don't mind that my lame big brother is going to be there."
"Wait I am not lame." Donnie protested as he caught up with the group.
Note: Next chapter is going to be the fight between Mikey and Hun. I don't know how I'm going to do it, but I need more practice in writing fight scenes and this gives me the perfect time to practice. What do you lovely readers think about Donnie knowing Mikey from the future? I wanted our sunshine baby to at least have someone to talk to that isn't there mother, granted there will be some secrets sill kept between the pair, but it gets a lot of Mikey chest and that's what he needs right now. Thank you to everyone reading and reviewing. I do have plans for Tang Shen to also be around in the next chapter.
