Now, there will be weekly updates here as well - every Sunday.
Not sure yet how many chapters this story will have, but it will be a slightly longer story. Except this chapter is still a wee bit short. Nevertheless, it is an important chapter.
Chapter 1
At a loss for what to do or say, Antonio just looked at her. He simply had no words to say at that moment. Having just seen Kim on the other side of the dance floor, Antonio hadn't thought about the consequences, and had just walked over to her. In fact, he had acted on instinct. Actually, it was definitely something he couldn't explain. No, Antonio had just been so surprised to see Kim here. I mean, in this outfit. You know, wearing that tight red dress.
"So you-" they both said at the same time. And then they had to laugh.
"You first," Antonio said then, smiling at Kim.
It was that smile that triggered something in Kim. Like that, suddenly all the words she wanted to say to him were gone. She only saw that mischievous smile and the sparkle in his eyes. Did he always have that? Kim shook her head as if to shoo the thought from her mind. To her, they were thoughts she couldn't allow herself to have.
"Kim?"
"I . What . . . So, um, what are you doing here?" she asked then, still surprised at seeing him here.
"I'm here with a bro. He wanted to hang out," Antonio replied, letting his gaze wander over the dance floor, "And what are you doing here? So, how come you're here?"
" Well, a former colleague is in town for a visit and we wanted to-" but at that moment Millie walked up to the two of them, cutting off any further words Kim wanted to say.
"Oh Kimmy, I'll leave you alone for five minutes and you get-" began Millie.
"Millie, this is Antonio Dawson, we work together," Kim interrupted her friend.
Kim had guessed what Millie was going to say.
Well, she felt the same way. At least, she used to. The very first time she had seen Antonio, she had noticed his appearance. The muscles visible under his T-shirt. The smile. The twinkle in his eyes. She thought he was pretty hot.
But he was her colleague!
After what happened with Adam Ruzek and Sean Roman, Kim never wanted to have thoughts like that about a colleague again. Oh, no way, man. Absolutely not. Still, she was allowed the occasional glimpse. Or even two. Well, maybe, anyway. In any case, when she was alone in bed, her thoughts were allowed to wander. Turning to the men she had to deal with every day and to her fantasies. Other than that, no. Not ever.
There was something about the tight jeans Antonio was wearing today, though . . . OH MY GOD, the alcohol she'd been drinking today was leading her thoughts in a dangerous direction. Now, Kim needed to stop thinking. TO THINK about them.
"Hi, I'm Millicent Parker, but my friends call me Millie," and with those words she smiled at Antonio.
"Antonio Dawson," he introduced himself without taking his eyes off Kim. Of her and the red dress. Just looking at her was kind of messing with his head. Totally flustered. What the hell was that all about?
"Come on you two, let's dance. After all, Kim and I are here to have a good time," Millie demanded and turned back towards the dance floor.
So Kim hesitated for a moment and then followed her friend onto the dance floor. After all, she was here to have fun. To have a good time. Just like Millie had said. Also, it might do her some good to put some distance between Antonio and her thoughts.
Antonio followed Kim with his gaze.
Earlier, when he had walked in here with his friend, Antonio had wanted to grab a beer or two and then leave again. Ah, yes, it was a good idea, but then he'd seen her. Kim Burgess. To him it seemed as if he was seeing her for the first time today, like seeing her for real. Almost as if he was seeing a different side of Officer Burgess, as if he was seeing Kim for the first time, that is, the woman she was.
Antonio leaned back against the counter, bottle of beer in hand, and eyed her. Oh, he enjoyed the view. A lot, in fact. After all, he was only a man. And he had been alone for quite a while. While on the dance floor, she surrendered herself to the sounds of the salsa music. With her eyes closed, she moved her hips to the rhythm of the music.
It was then that Kim felt someone put his/her hands on her waist from behind. Ah, hands that moved down to her hips. And then she caught the scent of aftershave. Antonio's aftershave.
He was close behind her, Kim could feel him. His touches. The two of them let themselves be carried away by the music. From the mood. Fired up by the atmosphere. For a moment, they blocked out everything around them.
So one dance led to two, then three. But at some point Kim had stopped counting. There was something in the air. The air had an erotic buzz to it. It seemed as if they had both forgotten about who they were. Albeit that wasn't a good idea.
"Come with me," as he suddenly whispered in her ear, reaching for her hand. As if by magic, their fingers intertwined with each other.
Together they left the bar. Antonio then pulled her with him into the small alley behind the bar.
Kim felt the wall at her back. And she could feel something else. Both of them felt the moment change and time seemed to stop.
As he leaned in, Kim knew exactly what was going to happen now. As well as what she wanted to happen now. OH she wanted it to happen, so badly.
The instant their mouths found each other for a kiss, Kim wrapped her arms around his neck and slid her hands over his shoulders. Oh, she wanted to let herself fall completely into that kiss. A kiss that filled her body with a tingling sensation that went from the roots of her hair to the tips of her toes.
The kiss was both tender and passionate. And it was a kiss that made Kim wish it would never end.
Then he lowered his head and placed his lips on the small hollow at her throat. He stirred desire in every cell of her body. His warm breath on her skin was arousing her. And her body responded to his kisses.
Slowly, his hand moved to her waist, stroking over the fabric at her waist. So then slowly upward. Touching her breast through the fabric of the dress. Fingertips brushed over the exposed skin at her cleavage.
His desire for her gripped him the moment his lips settled on her mouth.
"I-I want YOU, I DO, now," he murmured between kisses. The only thing he wanted was to feel her and literally rip off her clothes and touch her everywhere.
Kim pulled him even closer in response. She too wanted him, at that moment.
All of a sudden there was a noise. The honking of a car. Quite close. Quite loud.
And Antonio took a step back. Wide-eyed, Kim looked at him. Both of them couldn't believe what had almost happened. Hell, what they almost did.
"I. . . Well," but Kim was at a loss for words.
" We can' t do this. You know, this. I mean, you and me," said Antonio then, making a hand gesture, gesturing first at himself and then at Kim.
Kim nodded. Oh, she knew exactly what he was trying to say. Now, that had been a moment of weakness, caused by the alcohol. And even the first kiss had been a mistake. One that felt good. And one that could never happen again.
That must never be allowed to happen. Never again.
