This is nice, in a boat just cruising along the lake. "I never knew you had a boat Soos." We were relaxing just the two of us, it was fishing day today so everyone in town is at the lake.

The boat was epic. It's big enough for a few people. It also runs on an engine. Instead of rowing we could just chill and cruise along the lake.

"It's nothing dude. Just found somewhere and fixed it up," Soos says while steering the boat across the lake, "It was very easy to fix. The inside just had a little problem and got clogged up, also had to patch up some of the holes."

"How did you even get the skill to do fix all kinds of stuff? Even in the Mystery Shack, you knew how to fix everything," I compliment Soos in his fine works.

"Well when you're working at the Mystery Shack you pick up a few things about that," he says nonchalantly, "My knowledge is both a blessing and a curse."

"How long did you say, you've been working here for?" I was intrigued in knowing, Wendy did say Soos was working here at the Mystery Shack for a long time already.

Soos gave some thought to it for a moment or two, "About maybe 10 years? I was around 12 years old at the time."

"Isn't that child labor? Isn't that illegal?" I turn to Soos, I'm concerned for him now.

He shrugs at my question, "Well, I owe him for giving me a place to stay," he was being genuine. A guy likes Stan having a loyal friend like Soos.

Maybe there is some soft spot to that grumpy Stan. "So what do you wanna do now?" I turn my head towards my front, it was still pretty early right now. The lake was beautiful, but across the lake was an island. It looked spooky with its thick fog covering the whole island. The mist seemed to only gather at that island. Weird...

I try to think of something to do that won't bore me. Maybe the twins can help me with that. They seem to be an attraction to weird stuff happening. I don't even know where they are tho. Probably at the shore, either that or they won't come here at the lake today. I have a feeling they'll come.

"I guess let's go to the shore first," Soos drives towards the shore.

We spotted Dipper and Mabel on the docking are, "There's Dipper and Mabel!" I point across the lake.

"Yep on it dude," Soos slows down the boat as to not crash into our friends and the docking area.

"Monster hunt! Monster hunt! Monster hunt!" I hear Mabel and Dipper chant as we go near the docks.

Soos blows the horn a few times as he reverses towards the docks. "You guys said anything about a monster hunt?" I said as we come to a full stop.

"Hey Will! Hey Soos!" The twins greets us.

I messed up Mabel's hair as I put my hand on her head, "What's up Mabel?" I fist bump Dipper, "What's up Dipper?"

"We were just going to go a monster hunt," Dipper explains.

"Dude! You can totally use my boat for your hunt, it has a steering wheel, chairs, normal boat stuff" Soos pats his boat.

"Alright alright, let's think this through," everyone looks at Stan, "You kids could waste your time in some monster finding adventure or... You can spend some time learning how to tie knots and skewer worms with your great uncle Stan," he explains with gestures.

The twins looks at me and Soos, I gave them a double thumbs-up, while Soos do a robot dance.

They look towards their Grunkle Stan smiling, he smells his sweaty armpits. With his boat that has a spill and a smoking propellor.

Finally, they look towards the scuttlebutt island- dont ask why its name is like that, they smile making their choice.

I help Mabel and Dipper get up the boat, "So what do you say?" Stan starts as we drive towards the island. "Ingrates!" Stan screams.

"Hoist the anchor!" Dipper commands while Soos pulls up a chain leading to a cinder block. "Raise the flag," Mabel raises a flag that says fun with a sun that has sunglasses, unironically.

"We're gonna find that Gobblewonker!" Mabel said enthusiastically as ever.

"We're gonna win that photo contest!" The other twin said I wonder what contest he's talking about.

I drove the boat, since Soos had to hoist the anchor, "Did you guys have any sunscreen?"

"We're gonna.. go get sunscreen!" I turn back the boat towards the island again.

"Yayy!" they cheered happily.

...

Dipper walks back and forth in front of us, "Alright if we wanna win this contest, we gotta do it right, think what's the number one problem with most monster Hunt?" He turns to us.

"Uh... We get tricked and there's actually no monster?" I answer, Mabel nudges me while I let out a small laugh, "I was just kidding."

"No no.. well maybe, but no."

"If you're a side character, you die in the first five minutes of the movie. Dude am I the side character? You ever think about that?" Soos says having an existential crisis.

"No no no, camera trouble guys, say bigfoot shows up," he explains, "Soos be bigfoot."

Soos tries his best bigfoot impression.

"There he is! Bigfoot! Uh oh.. no camera! Oh, wait here's one!" He takes one out in his best and points it at Soos, "Oh.. no film... You see- you see what I'm doing here?"

They nod, "Dudes got a point," Soos comments.

"Besides the great acting," I say sarcastically, "Yep we get it," Mabel giggles at my comment.

"Yeah yeah, thanks.. That's why I bought 21 cameras." He proudly says. That was probably expensive with that many.

He gave us one bag each, "Two on my ankles, three on my jacket, four to each of you, three extras in this bag, and one under my hat." He shows us all the camera, "There's no way we're gonna miss this."

"Okay everybody let's test our cameras out," Dipper continues.

Soos aims one of the camera's lenses near his eyes and he clicks it, "Oh dude!" As soon as the light flashed he threw it into the water. I facepalm at this.

"You see this is exactly why we need backup cameras. We still have 20." He proudly says.

A bird suddenly flies by Mabel's head, "AH! Bird!" Mabel threw one of her cameras.

"19 okay guys I repeat, let's not lose our cameras," he pleads.

"Wait lose our cameras? Dude, I just threw two away."

"17 alright we still have 17 cameras!" He angrily says, because of this he punches the table which had one of the cameras, "16, we have 16."

"So what's the plan? Throw more cameras overboard or what?" Mabel asks.

"No no! Okay.. you and Will can be lookout, Soos can work the steering wheel and I'll be captain."

"What, why do you get to be captain? What about Mabel huh?" She chants "Mabel! Mabel!"

"I think Mabel can be co-captain, so... Mabel! Mabel!" I join her.

"Thanks Will!" She high five me.

"Fine, since Will says so." Dipper finally agreed as Mabel whispers 'yes'.

"As first co-captain, our number one order of business is to lure the monster out with that," Dipper points to a barrel full of fish food.

"Permission to taste some?" Soos asks.

"I don't think that's a good idea-"

"Granted," The twins say at the exact same time while cutting me off.

"Nice!" Soos takes one of the fish food and licks it, a moment later, regret shows on his face as he spits some of it out and pats his tongue trying to get the taste out.

We all laugh at Soos.

"Dude I don't know what I expected that to taste like."

"So.. uh, who did you guys hear from that there's a monster here?" I ask the twins, while I throw some fish food overboard. Right now we're going slowly through the foggy waters near the island. It seemed creepy here, just like anywhere in Gravity Falls but extra creepy.

I looked up to the sky, it seemed so dark in here, even though it was bright as day near the shore. Yet here it looks like it's night because of the heavy fog.

We were assigned some tasks by Dipper, the plan guy. Soos was on the steering wheel while I was throwing some fish food to lure it out. It might seem like a bad idea to lure the monster with fish food near our boat, but... hey, I'm not the one making the plans.

"Uh... from a crazy old man?" I look at Dipper dead in the eyes. That sounded less reassuring.

I look at him with suspense, "Sounds legit."

"Hah.. ha... anyways, what are you doing Mabel?" Dipper tries changing the subject, while Mabel was... playing with a pelican. "Aren't you supposed to be on lookout?"

"Look out!" Mabel magically gets out a ball and threw it to Dipper while she laughs. "But seriously I'm on it."

As soon as she says that we bump into something, presumably land. We all fall on the floor of the boat, because of the sudden stop.

We then got up to see that WE DID hit land, "See we're here!" Mabel was the first to get off the boat.

Dipper took the lantern in the boat with us and we all got off the boat. I'm sure the boat would be safe here.

We walk towards the middle of the island, the mist was ghost-grey, an eerie sound filled the forest, the only guide we had was a trail and a lantern for light. I squint trying to see past the dense mist. Nothing, just more trails with branches and leaves filling the dirt.

I look around us, finding vicious eyes in the darkness of the forest. Some animals can be heard, the hoots of the owls and 'the howling of the wolves. Looks like the monster isn't the only one terrifying here.

There were crows at the branches of the trees, or maybe they were ravens? I never really knew the difference between them. They seemed to be eyeing us, in the movies, crows usually are a bad sign.

"Am I the only one getting the creeps here?" I shivered.

"Don't worry dude! me too," Soos confirming that I'm not the only one.

"Don't worry Will, Mabel is here and she is unscareable!" She proudly says. A spine-chilling sound then seemed to have come from every direction. "W-What was that..?" Mabel hides behind me.

Because of the sound Dipper drops the lantern, it didn't break but it got stolen by one of the critters running around. It looked like a rat or a possum? Well, it looked bigger than a normal rat.

"So much for having a lantern..." I have a bad feeling about this.

"I can't see anything," Dipper tries to look through the thick fog.

"Dude... I don't know man maybe uh.. this isn't worth it," Soos states unsure.

"Not worth it? Guys imagine what would happen if we got that picture!" They stare blankly at each other, I imagine they're in their Dreamland, "I'm in!" Dipper states.

"Me too!" Mabel runs forward as her brother follows after her.

Sigh. "Kids..." I ran after them before they get lost in the mist, while Soos was behind me.
