Awakening…

Rafael was disturbed by the sounds ringing in his head. They didn't seem to be coming from outside, but rather from within his own mind. He felt strange, very strange. When he tried to open his eyes, he noticed that their movement felt sluggish and mechanical, like they were being controlled by a motor. His vision was also different, filled with text and data about his surroundings, as if he was constantly calculating everything he saw.

He tried to make sense of what was happening and remembered what had happened before he woke up. He remembered going to school, talking with Jack, and then everything went black. Now, he realized that he was in a Decepticon base with Soundwave.

Panic set in as he tried to move his arms, but they were nowhere to be found. He searched for his legs and realized they were missing as well. In their place, he felt something flat and rigid attached to his body. He tried to move it, but it wouldn't budge. He looked around for something to help him, but the metallic walls and moving ground offered no assistance.

To his surprise, he realized that the ground was actually moving and that he was being carried by Soundwave. He felt attached to the Decepticon's chest, as if he were just a plate of armor for Soundwave, just like Laserbeak. The events from when he lost consciousness came flooding back to him, giving him an idea of what had happened.

Rafael tried to scream and pull away from Soundwave, but he couldn't escape the Decepticon's grasp. He was trapped, attached to Soundwave's chassis like a plate of armor. When he met Soundwave's visor with his own eyes, he realized the full extent of what had happened.

Soundwave had transferred his consciousness into Laserbeak's body.

Rafael didn't know if it was possible or not, but the idea that Soundwave had transferred his consciousness into Laserbeak's body was the only explanation that made sense to him. He looked at his reflection in the metallic walls as they passed by, and saw what appeared to be a normal Soundwave with Laserbeak attached to his chassis as usual. The realization hit Rafael hard and he felt an urgent need to escape and get back to his friends. They would know how to bring him back to his own body. He tried to escape Soundwave's grasp, but it seemed that his body wasn't responding to him anymore.

At times, Rafael gave up his struggle for escape and stopped trying. Then, he felt Soundwave enter the room. This room was filled with alien computer consoles and a large blue holographic display that showed images of his world, Earth. Rafael guessed that this was the command center.

Soundwave walked over to his console and extended his feeler to connect to the port under it. This was the first time that Rafael could get a close-up look at Soundwave's feeler tentacle without fear of it strangling him. He looked at the display on the monitor and saw encrypted data on the screen. He watched as Soundwave decoded the data, one by one. Although Soundwave's speed was fast, it would still take him at least two months to complete the decryption. Rafael was so fascinated by the code that he lost himself in it, even allowing his mind to wander and consider how he would deal with it. He didn't even notice that Soundwave's decoding speed had increased dramatically as he let his mind wander.

Then, the harsh voice of Megatron interrupted their focus.

"Soundwave," the voice sent shivers down Rafael's spine, even though he no longer had one. Soundwave turned to see his leader approaching him. "I heard that you successfully retrieved the Iacon relic from Starscream. What surprises me is why you didn't inform me of the news yourself?" Megatron's red eyes seemed to flare with hidden rage. "Or were you hoping to keep the relic for yourself?"

Soundwave bowed his head. "Soundwave apologizes. The relic was not considered urgent. Soundwave was tending to the med bays." Then, the spy presented the relic to his lord.

The rage in Megatron's eyes seemed to subside as he grabbed the relic and examined it in his hand. A smile appeared on the dark lord's face. "Of course, my lieutenant's health comes first before anything else, Soundwave. But only if the mission was successful, and you have achieved it. You have never let me down before and make sure to continue doing so. And what of the Iacon database? How did that go?"

"The next relic location will be revealed in seven cycles," the communicator informed Megatron.

"A week, then," Megatron mused, tapping his chin. "The data is still in our hands. I don't want my lieutenant to overwork himself while he's still injured. Take a break when you see fit, Soundwave, but I expect the next location to be delivered to me in two weeks. And remember, my mercy has limits."

Soundwave once again bowed his head. "Thank you, my lord."

Megatron nodded before leaving Soundwave behind. Although he was told to take a break, Soundwave continued to work for a while longer. During this time, Rafael was lost in the alien technology around him. It took two to three hours for Soundwave to stop working and snap Rafael out of his fascination. The spy master made his way back to the same route Rafael remembered from before. He saw several Decepticons along the way that he had met before, including Vehicons, Insecticons, and Dreadwing. He also noticed Knockout, who seemed surprised when he saw him attached to Soundwave's chassis. However, Rafael didn't understand why most of the crew in the base seemed terrified or even creeped out by Soundwave's presence.

Soundwave entered the room and took a seat on a chair next to his workbench. The room was simple and unassuming, with only a metal bed, workbench, screen, and command pad as its furnishings. If Rafael had not known better, he would have thought that he was in a prison cell. The Decepticon looked directly into Rafael's eyes.

"Laserbeak, report to creator," Soundwave said suddenly.

Rafael understood that Laserbeak had gone and he was now assuming the form of Laserbeak. The Decepticon was referring to him as Laserbeak.

"Laserbeak, report to creator," Soundwave repeated.

Rafael attempted to furrow his brow in confusion but was unable to. "You want to play one of those games, huh?" he thought to himself.

Soundwave tilted his head. "Laserbeak, already communicated."

Rafael was surprised to hear Soundwave's response. "You...can hear me?" he thought.

"Soundwave and Laserbeak are already bonded. Communication through mind-reading ability is available," Soundwave said in a matter-of-fact tone.

"One, I didn't know that I could talk to you. Two, I am not Laserbeak!" Raf yelled mentally.

Soundwave's visor flickered in response to Raf's words. "Your body is Laserbeak's. Your designation is Laserbeak."

Raf felt a sense of frustration and confusion. "But my mind isn't! Let me go! Change me back right now!"

Soundwave's visor glowed red. "Laserbeak: Inappropriate behavior. Punishment necessary."

Suddenly, the connection between Soundwave and Raf was cut off, and Raf was hit with a wave of pain and fear. He felt like something had been ripped away from him, leaving him disoriented and in agony. He tried to scream, but no sound escaped his mind. He tried to reach out to what had been lost, but he couldn't find anything, only pain and emptiness.

After a few moments, the connection was restored, and the pain subsided. Raf was left with a sense of confusion and shock. "What just happened?" he thought to himself.

Soundwave's visor was still red. "Laserbeak: Disobeying orders. Punishment necessary."

Raf felt a sense of panic and desperation. "No! Please no...not again."

Soundwave didn't move, but the connection between them remained intact.

"Laserbeak: Report to creator," Soundwave repeated.

There was silence for a few moments, before a weak voice spoke in their shared mind. "Yes...creator."
