Ch 10 A Narrow Escape

"Reirei get the Hell out of our way!" Kopa growled, glaring at the female jackal.

"Nothin' doin'," Reirei snarled back, glaring right back at the creamy brown lion. "Like I said: you're not goin' nowhere 'til I'm done with you and your little friends."

"We're not scared of you Reirei," Chafu declared, standing beside Kopa and baring his teeth at Reirei. Safara got on the other side of Kopa and did the same.

"Oh I know you ain't scared of just me," Reirei said, an evil grin going across her face. "But I know you three little shits are scared of my Pack." Reirei nodded behind her to where Goigoi and the rest of her Pack were waiting, their eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"Dogo wouldn't be to happy with you for this," Kopa pointed out, causing Safara and Chafu to blink in surprise. But neither young lion said anything about it and they allowed Kopa to continue.

"Well Dogo ain't here now is he?" Reirei hissed. "And neither are Moto and his traitor family!"

"Yeah," Goigoi chimed in. "So you guys are screwed!" With that Goigoi and the rest of the jackals began to circle around Kopa and his friends.

"Kill them," Reirei growled. With that the jackals attacked. Goigoi and three other jackals tackled Kopa to the ground while Reirei and two other jackals took down Safara. This left the rest of the jackals to take on Chafu. As hard as the three young lions tried they soon found out that they were no match for all those jackals. Soon Safara was knocked out and Reirei went over to where Kopa was struggling against Goigoi and the rest of the jackals. "Aw what's the matter Kopa?" Reirei cackled advancing on the pinned lion. "Can't get up? To bad for you!" With that Reirei let out a cackle and raised her paw, fully prepared to kill Kopa. Reirei hit Kopa over and over again and there was nothing he could do to stop the vicious attack. Reirei let out an evil cackle and was about to deliver a final blow. Kopa's vision was blurry and going in and out and he knew that he was on the verge of passing out. But just then he heard the faint sounds of fighting. Then he heard someone calling his name before his world went to black.

TLKTLKTLK

Kopa heard the same voice call his name. But the pounding in his head made him shut his eyes even tighter. "Kopa honey can you hear me?" came the familiar voice of Jasiri.

"C'mon bro open your eyes please," came the pleading voice of Kovu. Kopa let out a groan and tried his best to open his eyes. He managed to get them open a slight bit but when the light hit his eyes he quickly shut them again.

"I think he's having a migraine," Vitani said softly. Kopa heard the shuffling of paws. Kopa tried once again to open his eyes, letting out another groan in the process. He opened his eyes a little and saw no light coming trough. Kopa opened his eyes fully and saw Jasiri standing in front of him with Kovu, Kiara, Vitani and Nuka right beside her.

"Oh Kopa are you alright?" Jasiri asked, making sure she kept her voice low as she gently nuzzled her love.

"Bro you scared the Hell out of us," Kovu said softly as he gently head bumped his half brother.

"What hap..." Kopa began. But his blue eyes got wide when he remembered what had happened. "Chafu!" he cried out. "Safara! Are they alright?!"

"Chafu and Safara will be just fine," Simba said, coming onto the scene with Zira right behind him. "Safara's got a pretty severe concussion and some nasty scratch marks. Chafu just got a nasty bump on the head and some scratch marks."

"Yes but Rafiki examined both of them and he said that they should be fine in about a week," Zira chimed in.

"How..." Kopa began, shutting his eyes tight as his head pounded in pain. "How long have I been out?"

"Two days," Jasiri said, gently nuzzling Kopa. Kopa opened his mouth to say more but just then Rafiki came in to examine Kopa. The others left in order to give the old mandrill some space.

"How are you feeling young one?" Rafiki asked with a smile.

"I'm ok," Kopa said as he layed his head down as Rafiki examined him. Kopa closed his eyes because his head was pounding from the bright light. Suddenly he heard that all to familiar cackle.

"Now's your chance," Kion's voice said. "Kill Rafiki. Then you can enact your revenge on Simba."

"No," Kopa muttered, keeping his eyes shut. "I won't do it. Leave me alone damn it."

"Are you alright Kopa?" Rafiki asked, snapping Kopa out of his thoughts. Kopa opened his eyes and saw that Rafiki was looking at him with concern.

"Y...yeah I'm...I'm alright," Kopa stammered.

"You are hearing yer broder's voice again yes?" Rafiki asked. Kopa looked away from Rafiki, not wanting him to see the emotions in his eyes. But Rafiki gently pulled Kopa's head towards him and looked into his eyes. "Ah yes I can see da pain in yer eyes," Rafiki said, sympathetically. "And de shame and embarrassment. But you do not have anyting to be embarrassed about."

"Ha listen to him," Kion's voice cackled. "He doesn't respect you. He thinks you're an embarrassment and shameful. You can't allow him to treat you like that. Show him and everyone else that you're to be respected and feared. Kill him Kopa. He deserves it! Kill him now!"

"No!" Kopa roared, startling Rafiki. Kopa suddenly jumped to his feet, knocking Rafiki over accidently. "I won't do it damn you! I'd rather die!" Before Rafiki could say anything Kopa dashed out of the cave, plowing through Jasiri, Kiara and Kovu, who were coming to check on Kopa.

"Kopa wait!" Jasiri cried out, dashing after her boyfriend.

"Here we go again," Kovu muttered as he and Kiara also went after Kopa.

TLKTLKTLK

Kopa ran until he got so dizzy he had to stop. Panting for breath the creamy coated lion lowered his head and closed his eyes, willing the dizziness to go away. After a few minutes he heard someone call his name. Opening his eyes he saw Nuka coming towards him with Simba right behind him. "Kop' what the heck are you doing out here?" Nuka asked, giving his friend a concerned look.

"I...I just needed some air," Kopa said, trying to ignore to pounding in his head.

"You should be resting Kopa," Simba said, his fatherly tone kicking in. "You've been in a coma and you have a concussion."

"I'm fine Simba," Kopa insisted. "Really I am."

"Do it Kopa," came Kion's voice. "Kill them both. They deserve it. They think you're weak. Now's the time to show them and everyone else that you're not weak. Or are you going to let Mother be proven right. After all she always said you were weak and useless."

"She was wrong," Kopa muttered. "I'm not weak."

"Then prove it," Kion said. "Kill Simba and Nuka. Prove you're not weak."

"No," Kopa whispered, closing his eyes and shaking his head. "I can't..."

"Kopa you need to come back to Pride Rock right now," Simba ordered. Kopa opened his eyes and glared at Simba.

"I'm fine Simba," Kopa said, his voice coming out slightly rough.

"You're clearly not alright," Simba declared. "You need to come with us right now before you collapse."

"Yeah c'mon Kop' lets get you back," Nuka said.

"Fine," Kopa grumbled. "I'll go."

"You see?" Kion's voice said. "They think you're weak."

"I'm not weak," Kopa muttered.

"Then show them," Kion said. "Show them just how strong you are."

"Yeah," Kopa said softly as he glared. "I'll show them. They'll regret the day they misjudged me." With that Kopa got directly behind Simba, who was talking with Nuka and not looking at Kopa. Kopa got down low and extended his claws as he prepared to attack and kill Simba.
