The Louds are driving in Vanzilla to Grand Venture State Park.
"Dad, are we there yet?" Lana asks impatiently.
"No, not yet, kiddo," Lynn Sr. replied. "Just a few more hours."
"Oh, okay," Lana said, then asked again a second later. "Are we there yet?"
Lincoln is looking at a guidebook of the place the family is visiting. "Today, we're going to Grand Venture State Park, and it's going to be awesome! We're going to hike, fish, and explore the caves..." As he explains what they're going to do, panels of himself performing those activities appear.
"Thank you for allowing me to join you guys to go to Grand Venture State Park, Mr. Lynn," J.D. said, gratefully.
"J.D., you're very welcome," Lynn Sr. replied. You're going to love this place."
"I heard it's Michigan's version of California's Yosemite National Park," J.D. explained.
"And I can't wait to see Pop-Pop!" said Leni excitedly.
The rest of her siblings were perplexed when she mentioned Pop-Pop because they were going to a State Park.
"The guidebook said there was an old geezer in the park," Leni explained.
"Geyser, not geezer," Lincoln clarified. "See? Here it is. " He showed her the actual geyser in the guidebook.
"I hope we get to see it blow," said Luna excitedly. "That would be rockin'!"
"That would be really cool!" J.D. agreed.
"I wouldn't hold my breath," Lisa informed her. "It has been dormant for many years."
"So it's like Pop-Pop," Leni agreed, recalling their grandfather.
"Are we there yet?" Lana asked after a while.
"Lana, stop asking," said Lynn Sr., irritated at that point.
"Well, Hops is asking, not me!" Lana replied, pointing to her frog, who croaked in response.
"Why don't you guys play some car games?" said Rita hurriedly, trying to keep the kids entertained so their father could focus on driving.
Laney had an idea for a game they could play. "Why don't we play I Spy? I'll go first. I spy with my little eye, something that is Red."
The kids looked around, but J.D. was the first to notice the item. "Your scarf."
"You got it, J.D.," Laney said, nodding because he was correct.
"I'm sorry Lori, Lynn, and Lola could not join us on this trip," J.D. apologized to Mr. and Mrs. Loud. "I could tell they were looking forward to it."
"I know, but they'll be fine," Lynn Sr. replied.
"I just got a new deck of fortune-telling cards," Lucy spoke up. "I could do readings for everyone." She took out her cards and shuffled them. Her siblings agree and want their fortunes to be told. She dons a turban as the background briefly changes to a spatial setting.
"Me first!"
"Over here, Lucy!"
"It's Madame Lucy," Lucy corrected.
In awe, J.D. and her siblings exclaimed, "Ooh!"
The cards were dealt. The first featured a heart floating towards an angel, and it was intended for J.D.
"J.D. love will find you in the park today," Lucy predicted as she read his fortune.
"Ooh," J.D. exclaimed in delight and awe. "Mysterious, ".
The next card, for Luan, depicted a knight on his steed facing strong winds.
"Luan, you will soon be blown away," Lucy predicted.
"How fortunate!" Luan laughed as her siblings groaned at her joke.
"Good one!" laughed Lynn Sr.
"Sorry, guys," J.D. apologized. "I have no joke this time."
"You'll think of something, J.D.," Luan reassured him.
Laney received the following card, which depicted a twinkling star. "Laney, you will encounter something in the park that will change your life forever."
"Poppycock," Lisa scoffed, not believing the predictions could be true. "Could these predictions be any vaguer?"
Lisa received the next card, which depicted a wizard holding a crystal ball. "Lisa, before you enter the park today, you will make an amazing scientific discovery. Is that specific enough for you?"
"Specific, yes," scoffed Lisa again. "Plausible, no. As a scientist, I cannot take any of this seriously."
"Well, the cards don't lie," Lucy said as she turned away from her and told the rest of the sisters' fortunes before finally telling Lincoln's. "Last but not least: Lincoln." She pulls out his card and gasps at what she sees.
"Uh-oh," J.D. said, worried. "I don't like the sound of that."
"What does it say?" Lincoln asked, concerned.
Lucy quickly changed the subject. "So, who wants to play I, Spy?" She tried to smile casually as if nothing was wrong.
Lincoln was now desperate because she was avoiding the subject. "Come on, Lucy! Please tell me!"
"Fine. Your day at the park will come to an end in." She revealed the card to be the grim reaper. "...tragedy."
A suspenseful music sting plays for the card as Lynn Sr. looks through the radio. "Ooh, a radio station of music stings! Neato-burrito!"
"Uh-oh," J.D. said worriedly. "The Grim Reaper Card. Lincoln's not going to." He gulped in fear. "Die is he?"
"No, he is not," Lucy assured him.
Lincoln and J.D. breathed a sigh of relief. As Lincoln frets about his fortune, the music stings again. The family makes a pit stop at Ed's Gas & Snack.
"Okay, kids, you have ten minutes to use the restroom and eat some snacks," Lynn Sr. explained, and then he added, "If you miss the deadline, I can't promise I'll still be here."
Lincoln's sisters exit the car, but Lincoln shuts the door, much to Lisa's astonishment.
"Aren't you coming?" Lisa inquired.
Lincoln quickly shook his head. "Nope. I'm going to stay right here."
"Oh, you're not concerned about Lucy's ridiculous predictions, are you?" Lisa teased.
"It's alright, Lincoln," J.D. reassured him. "You'll be safe as long as you're with me."
"Thank you, J.D.," Lincoln said, exhaling a sigh of relief.
"No problem, buddy," J.D. said with a smile.
"Here, Lincoln." Laney extended her hand to him. "You are welcome to hold my hand. "
"Thank you, Laney," Lincoln said gratefully.
Lincoln gets out of the car. J.D., Lincoln, and Laney hear Luan giggling. "Let me know if you get tired, Dad."
J.D. laughed with Luan. "Good One!"
"That's a good one, honey. This is why you are my heir." Lynn Sr. then inadvertently hit Luan with a jet of air, sending her flying into a pile of tires.
J.D. rushes over to Luan, concerned. "Are you okay, Luan?"
Luan is having difficulty removing herself from the tires. "Yeah, I'm fine."
J.D. and Lynn Sr. assisted Luan with removing hers from the tires.
"Oh, sorry, sweetie," apologized Lynn Sr. "Your dad's just an air-head."
J.D., Lynn Sr., and Luan laughed while the other kids looked on helplessly at the joke.
"Fortune number two: "You will soon be blown away," Lucy appears next to them, startling them. Everyone except Lisa gasps in astonishment. Except for Lisa, the other girls enter the mini-mart.
"It's more like coincidence number two," Lisa scoffed.
"We will see," Lucy said.
As the rest of them approached the door, a charming man named Mr. Universe opened it for them.
"Good morning, Mr. Universe," J.D. greeted. "One second. Is it okay if I take a picture with you? "
"Certainly, my friend," Mr. Universe said with a Russian accent.
"Hey Luna, can you snap one of us?" J.D. asked.
"You got it, man," Luna said as she gave him a thumbs up.
He hands Luna his phone, and she takes a picture of J.D. and Mr. Universe on his phone, doing the rock-on-hand sign and smiling.
"Thank you, Luna, and thank you, Mr. Universe," J.D. said gratefully.
"No problem," Mr. Universe replied.
Mr. Universe walked away from them and continued on his way.
"That was supposed to be Lola's fortune," Lucy expressed displeasure.
"I wanted to give Lola a good photo as a souvenir because it's the least I could do to make up for it," J.D. explained.
"She'll love it, J.D.," Lincoln said with a smile. "You're a good friend."
There is a long line for the ladies' room inside the store.
Leni is holding a pair of pink boots with a bow. "OMG! These boots are totes adorbs!"
"They are perfect for you, Leni," J.D. explained.
"Thank you, J.D.," Leni said gratefully.
Lana rushes out of the restroom clutching a dollar. "Ha! I found a dollar in the toilet!"
"Lucky you, Lana!" gasped J.D., happy for her.
"Just as I predicted," Lucy says as she pulls out the next card, which depicts arrows piercing a heart. "Leni, you will fall in love." Then she reveals the next card, which shows a pile of coins. "Lana, you will become filthy rich."
The two of them gasped in shock, since their predictions came true.
"What can I say?" Lucy said smugly. "The cards don't lie."
Lisa was still unimpressed and pointed to Leni. "That's hyperbole. And that's a gross exaggeration," she added, pointing to Lana. Lisa then put on a rubber glove and took the dollar from Lana. "Filthy, yes. No, not rich."
Lana took back the dollar. "Ugh. It's all about the quality, not the quantity!"
"Oh, yes!" Luna said cheerfully, as she opened a bag and ate some chips. "I got an extra bag of chips from the vending machine! Bros, the best things in life are free!"
"Rock on, Luna!" J.D. said, happy for her.
"You will be rewarded double," Lucy said as she showed them a card with two people holding chalices.
They are finally back in the van and have arrived at Grand Venture State Park.
"Alright, kiddos, welcome to Grand Venture State Park!" Lynn Sr. announced.
Everyone left the van and waited for Lisa and J.D. at the gate.
"Are you coming, Lisa?" J.D. asked Lisa, who was still in the van reading.
"Sorry," replied Lisa, who had just put her book down. "I had to finish that chapter."
Just then, a massive egg falls between them and hatches.
Lisa gasped in astonishment. "Sweet mother of scientific discoveries! It's an owl with deer antlers!"
"Wow, it's so cute," Laney gushed as she looked at the owl.
"Lucy, I concede that your psychic predictions are uncannily accurate, and now I'm off to show this fascinating creature to the park ranger; see you later, Lincoln!" explained Lisa as she walked away to show the park ranger her discovery.
Following her departure, the family heads toward the caves.
"All right, gang, the first stop is the Grand Stalactite Caverns," Lynn Sr announced.
"Ooh, if it's dark, I'm in," Lucy added.
"Are you ready, Lincoln?" J.D. asked Lincoln, making sure he was okay to go in.
"Yeah, let's go," Lincoln said, taking a deep breath to steady himself.
They entered the cave, and it was truly a spectacular sight.
Laney notices a strange light coming from another room and goes to investigate. The room was completely covered in plants, and a green emerald diamond was on a pedestal in the middle of it.
"Ooh!" Laney gasped. "Beautiful."
When she touches the diamond, a tornado of leaves erupts around her. Laney finds herself outside the cave entrance a few moments later.
"What? How did I get back outside? Whoa. I feel really strange."
Laney groaned in pain. She then touched the ground and stood up, only to discover an ivy vine growing from the ground and following her hand.
Laney gasped. "How did I do that?!"
Laney grew a blackberry bush near her feet. She also grew a strawberry bush.
Laney gasped again. "I... I have plant powers, and Lucy's fortune has come true!"
The rest of the group then went outside to find Laney.
"Laney, how did you get outside?" J.D. inquired, perplexed.
"Guys, you are not going to believe this!" Laney said excitedly. "Watch this."
Laney then transformed a sliver of grass into a full-fledged apple tree. They were all taken aback and gasped.
"Laney, how did you do that?!" Lincoln exclaimed, stunned by what he had just witnessed.
"I somehow got plant powers!" Laney squealed with delight.
"Laney, how did you get these powers?" J.D. asked.
"Well, I saw a mysterious light coming from another room in the cave, and I went to check it out," Laney explained. "I saw a room covered in plants, and in the middle of the room was a green diamond. I touched it, and leaves swirled around me, and everything went black afterward."
"Green diamond?" J.D. inquired. "Let me check here." He takes a book from his tote bag and reads it, where he makes a startling discovery.
"Laney, you don't know how fortunate you are," exclaimed J.D. in disbelief. "You've discovered the Diamond of Gaia, and legend has it that whoever touches the diamond will be granted plant powers, the ability to communicate with animals, and even the ability to fly. Still, only those pure of heart can be granted these powers."
"Laney, this is amazing!" Lincoln said excitedly.
"I know, and it's also my fortune, right, Lucy?" Laney inquired.
"It is," Lucy confirmed.
Lisa is at the ranger station, showing the park ranger a new species of owl, she discovered. "I call it the "Dowl."
"Remarkable," the park ranger said. "I'll call a press conference right away. Fortunately for us, I always carry bunting." He held up the bunting.
At the lake, the family is swimming.
"Ah, Grand Sparkling Lake," Lynn Sr., floating on a tube, sighed.
"Come on in, Lincoln!" Lana shouted. "We have the entire lake to ourselves!" L
"Here I come," Lincoln said as he jumped into the water, and everyone was having a good time. But then J.D. senses something in the lake.
"What is it, J.D.?" Lincoln asked.
"Guys, I sense a Mermaid," J.D. explained.
"A Mermaid? Laney asked excitedly. "Where?"
"Here in this lake," J.D. responded.
"You can sense Mermaids?" asked Lana in confusion.
"Yeah. I call it Mermaid Sense," J.D. replied.
J.D. touches both of his temples to feel her presence, and then a massive fountain of water erupts from the lake, and he notices a figure in the sky approaching him. It was a mermaid with aqua-green hair, gorgeous blue eyes, an aqua-blue shirt, and a gorgeous blue fishtail. As he approaches her, he spreads his black angel wings and walks on water, and she creates a pillar of water and sits on it.
"J.D. of Royal Woods?" the mermaid asked in a beautiful voice.
"That's correct, but how did you know my name?" he asks, surprised that she knew his name.
"It was prophesied when I was born that the man for whom I was destined would come today when the noon Sun hangs above this lake," she replied mystically.
"I take it you mean me?" J.D. replied, pointing to himself.
"That's right, our meeting was predestined, you see?" the mermaid agreed.
"And I believe it; it's as if my trip here was bringing us together; what's your name?" J.D. inquired, believing in her
"Varie," she answered.
He extends his hand, and she places her hand on his. "Varie, will you come back with me to Royal Woods?"
"Yes, J.D., I would be honored," she responded, pleased that he asked.
"Lucy, your fortune has come true for me, and thank you for finding me love," J.D. reflected. In his head, he expressed gratitude that Lucy's prediction had come true.
Lincoln was in tears of happiness, Laney was happy for him, Lana was smiling, Luan was in tears of happiness, Leni was so happy, Luna was in tears of happiness, and Rita and Lynn were in a state of happiness for him.
"That's fortune number one," Lucy said, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Varie's tail transformed into legs, and they walked back to shore.
"Presenting Grand Vista Gorge. It's the most beautiful view north of the Rio Grande," Lynn Sr. says as the family visits a gorge.
"Beautiful?" Luan asked, then joked. "Don't you mean GORGE-ous?"
J.D., Varie and Lynn Sr. all laughed, and J.D. said, "Good one, Luan."
"Wow, this is incredible," Laney exclaimed as she gazed at the gorge.
"Next stop, Grand Current River," Lynn Sr. announced as they approached their destination.
The whole family is out fishing. While everyone else has their lines in the river, Leni has hers in a bush.
"Hey little dudette, hook me up with another worm," Luna asked Lana.
"Sorry," Lana replied, eating the worm. "All out."
The family is now having a picnic.
"Ugh," Lana groaned, patting her stuffed belly. "I wish I hadn't filled up on worms."
"Good food, Ms. Rita," J.D. complimented her.
"Very good," Varie agreed.
"Oh, thank you, Varie," Rita blushed at the compliment.
"You said it, J.D.," Lincoln said, handing J.D. a hearty high-five.
"Ah, what a day. Grand Venture State Park, you always know how to show us a grand time," Lynn Sr. sighed, having had a good time.
"You said it, Mr. Lynn; this was fantastic!" exclaimed J.D. in contentment.
"Come on guys, let's go to Lisa's press conference," Lynn Sr. suggested.
At the press conference, Lisa stood at the podium and said, "Members of the press, I have made a discovery that will forever alter our understanding of the animal kingdom. I give you..." she removed a cloth from the hidden item, revealing the dowl. "... the Dowl! Or, if you prefer, Loudicus Lisa."
The rest of her family and the press are stunned, while Lincoln flinches and screams as the cameras flash.
"As you can see, the Dowl's antlers are..." Lisa explained. Suddenly, the little bird shakes off the antlers, and Lisa makes another less scientific discovery. "... Made in China?" Lisa asked, perplexed.
"What?" Laney asked, surprised.
The park ranger spits. "Excuse me. I just remembered I, uh...left the iron on in the park ranger station. Forest fires are no joke." He begins to leave, but Lisa stops him. "Hold it right there, bub! What gives?"
"Okay, I made the whole thing up," the park ranger sighed. "I bought the antlers at a yard sale and glued them on the owl."
Lisa was furious. "You think science is a joke?"
In response, the park ranger furiously shakes his head. "No, it's just that since the geyser stopped erupting, no one comes to the park anymore, and I thought a little publicity would bring people back."
Lisa returned to the podium and apologized. "My apologies to you all. Clearly, the Dowl is a forgery."
"A forgery?" Lincoln asks, surprised.
"Oh, that stinks," J.D. winced. "I'm sorry, Lisa."
"It's okay, J.D.," Lisa sighed, disappointed.
"So Lucy's prediction for you wasn't correct!" shouted Lincoln.
"That is a logical conclusion," Lisa confirmed.
"Which means mine wasn't true either!" Lincoln exclaimed happily.
"Second logical conclusion," Lisa agreed.
"Okay, kids, you have five minutes to get in the car, and if you miss the cut-off, there are no guarantees," Lynn Sr. said as the family prepared to leave.
The ground begins to shake, and a rumbling sound could be heard as he walks to his car. J.D., Lincoln, Varie, and Laney ran over and witnessed something incredible.
"It's the geyser!" exclaimed Lincoln, unable to believe his eyes. "Whoa!"
"It's erupting!" Laney said as she gazed at the geyser. "And... it's gorgeous!"
"What a lovely sight!" Varie agreed.
"Not quite as magnificent as sharing it with you, Varie," J.D. added, before kissing her, and it was his first kiss, which he adored.
In astonishment, they watched the geyser's beautiful outburst. J.D. took some photos. The car's horn suddenly honked, and everyone was departing without them.
"He's actually leaving us behind," Lincoln exclaimed, stunned.
"What, you thought he was joking?" Laney asked, puzzledly glancing at him.
"Sheesh," Lincoln scoffed. "I always thought it was an empty threat." He shrieks as he chases them, "GUYS! WAIT!"
They climb into the car when it comes to a complete halt."
"Guys!" Lincoln said excitedly. "Guys! You won't believe what happened! I just watched the geyser go off!"
After a great day, his sisters slept, and Leni groggily said, "Ugh. Lincoln, you told me Pop-Pop wasn't going to be here."
Lincoln sighed. "Leni, it's not...never mind, this turned out to be the best day ever." He then fell asleep for the trip home.
"You said it, buddy," agreed J.D. "Everyone sleep well; you've all had a long day."
"It's not as big as yours and Laney's, J.D.," Lynn Sr. added.
"Lucy, your cards truly worked," J.D. explained. "You're going to make a fantastic fortune teller one day. Lisa, I gained plant powers because of Lucy's fortune. Watch."
Lisa gasped as Laney grew a blue rose from her hand. "So you do! But I find getting superpowers because of Lucy's fortunes to be a 100 percent scientific impossibility."
"It's true, Lisa. Laney gained plant powers because of the mystical Diamond of Gaia." He showed her the diamond in his book "Legends of the World."
Lisa read the book. "Hmm. Fascinating."
"Wow, J.D.," Varie gasped. "I had no idea Laney could do that."
"Laney is extremely fortunate," J.D. agreed.
"Do you really think I'm a great fortune teller, Laney?" Lucy asked.
"Of course, Lucy, you're already a great fortune teller," Laney assured her.
"Thank you, Laney; that means a lot to me," Lucy replied.
Lucy hugged Laney as the van drove off into the sunset.
EPILOGUE:
The van arrived at the Loud House at 11:30 p.m., and they all got out.
"Boy, that was a great trip. Well, I got to get back home and get Varie settled in. See you guys tomorrow," said J.D. as he and Varie waved goodbye.
Everyone waved goodbye. "Bye J.D. Bye Varie."
J.D. and Varie arrived at his mansion, knocked on the door, and Alfred answered, "Ah. Master J.D. Welcome back. How was your trip sir?"
"It was fantastic, Alfred, and I'll tell you all about it tomorrow," J.D. smiled.
"I can't wait to hear it," Alfred replied. "Who is your friend?"
"Oh, I'm sorry," J.D. apologized. "Varie, this is Alfred, our butler, and my friend."
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Varie said politely.
"Likewise, Ms. Varie," Alfred replied.
"She's my fiancee, but the marriage won't be legal until I'm in my twenties," J.D. explained.
"I understand," Alfred said, even though he wasn't entirely sure.
J.D. and Varie enter his room, where he pulls out an extra bed for her.
"J.D., your house is fantastic!" Varie says quietly to him.
"Yep," J.D. agreed. It's a magnificent house."
They crawl under their covers and go to sleep.
J.D. and Varie were telling his mother, father, sister, and Alfred about their trip the next morning at 9:30 a.m. He invited the Louds over and Clyde, his fathers Howard and Harold McBride, Bobby and Ronnie Anne. Along with Zach, Liam, and Rusty.
"And then me, Laney, Lincoln, and Varie saw the geyser blow, and we got in the van and went home," J.D. concluded.
Everyone was astonished by what they had just heard.
"Boy, you've had a fantastic experience!" Lynn exclaimed. "Lanes, this must be a huge shock for you to gain plant powers suddenly."
"It's a big change for me because I was given a great gift, and with great power comes great responsibility," Laney responded.
"I'll say this: Laney, be careful with your powers," Howard advised.
"I will, Mr. McBride," Laney said.
"Boy, it sounds like you've had quite an adventure," Harold commented.
"Yes, we have Mr. McBride, but the best part of the trip was meeting and coming together with Varie," J.D. said as he kissed Varie.
Everyone squealed, "AWW!"
"Boy, you two are perfect for each other, right babe?" Bobby said as he turned to face Lori.
"I can tell Boo-Boo Bear," Lori answered.
"I can agree on that one," Howard said.
"Boy, I wish I could have gone with you," Ronnie Anne replied.
"Yeah, that park sounded like a great paradise," Liam replied with a southern drawl.
"This was a road trip you'll never forget," Rusty added.
"No kiddin'," said Zach.
"Our therapist, Dr. Lopez, says, "A vacation is a perfect time to unwind and relax," said Clyde.
"Amen to that, Clyde," J.D. agreed.
"I'm literally jealous you got a photo with Mr. Universe, but thanks for this amazing picture," Lola replied, a little jealous.
"You're welcome, Lola. Look at the back," J.D. replied, motioning to the back of the photograph.
Lola looked at the back, and there was a note.
She read the note with J.D.'s voiceover, "Dear Lola, I'm sorry you couldn't come with us on our trip, so I hope this picture makes up for the loss of the trip. I got a picture with Mr. Universe, and I was thinking about you when this came. Love your best friend, J.D. P.S. Keep winning those beauty pageants and making your friends and family proud."
Lola was touched and hugged him. "Thank you, J.D."
"You're welcome, Lola," he said as he returned her hug.
"The best part was that I got to share it with all of my best friends," J.D. stated.
The Loud kids, Clyde, Rusty, Liam, Zach J.D., and Varie hugged.
THE END
