The next day, Subaru and Kazuma went to school like usual. Although apparently, there was an event happening in which 'supposedly' if their class won they would be able to go home. However, the people who could go home were the ones that were partaking in the 'games'. Kazuma had even seen Chris in another class while Subaru had seen Julius, Reinhart and Felt. They also saw a few maids in which they guessed they were from Ainz's world.

The thing was, class 1-B lost to class 1-A aka the people who Subaru and Kazuma just saw. Apparently, there was a tiebreaker in which the students had to fight the teachers and a giant machine which Kazuma knew as "the destroyer". Whoever could beat the teachers and/or the destroyer, would be rewarded with one million points. The plan was simple as each class split up aka 1-B went after the destroyer while 1-A went after the teachers. In the end, 1-A were able to defeat the teachers mainly due to Reinhart. However, class 1-B were not able to defeat the destroyer in time. The reason was due to the disfunction between Emilia, Tanya, Ainz and Aqua. They had planned to have four people, one from each group, go against the destroyer while sticking together. However, Ainz and Aqua were having issues. Mainly, Aqua hating that she had to work with an Undead and Ainz having to hold back an angry Albedo. So in the end, they didn't have enough time to defeat the destroyer thus losing the event.

However, as it turned out, it was all a ruse and that no matter who won, they weren't going to be transported back to their worlds. Everyone was furious that they had fought for nothing. Everyone except for the two students who didn't participate, Subaru and Kazuma. The duo had left earlier seeing nobody was in class and played some games together at their new house.

Subaru didn't give a shit about anyone as of late.

He hated himself.

No matter what his party did to or for him, he didn't feel anything anymore.

When they were transported to this new world, it was as if all negative and positive thoughts were thrown at him.

After a couple of days of him thinking over everything that had happened to him, Subaru decided to just simply go with the flow.

As the days kept going, Emilia being dependent on Puck, Ram bullying him, Beatrice being a child, [Not in an annoying way but in an endearing way] and of course Rem being Rem, Subaru realized that if he put up a fake mask, he could stop caring about everything around him and now be able to finally enjoy some peace and do some self-reflection without having to die nor have to work towards a goal.

However, Subaru had found a tunnel in which, in two months, anyone that went through the tunnel would be transported back to their original worlds. Aka for Subaru, he would finally be back home where he could finally reunite with people who actually loved him.

His parents.

So when it was revealed that it was possible that everyone could go back to their old worlds, Subaru immediately protested right after Kazuma was the first one to say anything.

Kazuma was sitting at the dining table with Subaru as it was time for dinner. Subaru had brought some chicken wings which had mayo on top of it as mayo was his and Kazuma's favorite flavor. and some water to suffice for the day.

While Subaru was eating a sandwich that he had gotten from Rem somehow, Kazuma noticed something about Subaru he hadn't before.

"Hey, Subaru?"

"Yeah?"

"What was the bit of the whole you dying again?" Kazuma asked with general curiosity and a bit of concern edged on his voice.

"Oh yeah, I have a curse called Return By Death. However, the individual who gave me this curse, aka Satella, was not able to get to this new world. Thus, I am now able to tell anyone about my powers."

Subaru didn't mention that, at this point, he didn't care about his power anymore. Since he was allowed to say what it was, he thought it would have made him feel better but instead, it did nothing to fill in that joy that the young man had all so long ago.

"Heh, and here I thought I was the only one who died multiple times." Kazuma gave a bitter chuckle and then had to ask an obvious question.

"How did you die?"

Subaru looked back at Kazuma with a sad expression.

"Yeah…. I've been killed by everyone in my party expect for Emilia and Beako aka Beatrice….. The worst part is that nobody remembers it so even If I were to tell them the truth, none of them would believe me…. Except for Beatrice most likely but at that point, why even bother?"

Kazuma was shocked at what he had just heard but had to ask a bigger question.

"I have died 7 times so far, how about you?"

"95"

Kazuma was in shock.

"WHAT?"

"Yeah, I've died even in this world for some of the stupidest reasons which I do not want to talk about right now."

There a moment of silence as both were deep in thought.

"Then why do- no did you associate with your killers aka your 'camp'?"

Subaru looked at him back with a tiny smile that had no warmth in it.

"Because what else could I do?"

Before Kazuma could respond Subaru wasn't done.

"Better yet why did you still hang out with your party even when you clearly can't stand them, especially Aqua who apparently made fun of your death?"

"Touché"

They both stared at each other for about 5 seconds until they bitterly laughed as they had the same reasoning of wanting to go back home.

The next day, everyone went back and had no choice but to keep going as if class was normal. Everyone except for the two aforementioned boys. The duo was sitting in their respective seats doing their assignments without interacting with anyone.

Subaru was doing his math homework while ignoring his camp trying to get his attention. The only time he ever bothered to look and interact with anyone was either if it was Kazuma or, on rare occasions, it was Rem or Beatrice.

The same went for Kazuma except he didn't interact with ANY of his party members. Besides for Subaru, Kazuma would just tune out anyone else that was talking to or about himself.

Even when Subaru and Kazuma were getting threatened by other groups, they still didn't care. The isekai duo knew that nobody could kill them unless themselves of course.

Torture did not even scare them if they were to be subjugated to it. Subaru had already dealt with limbs being torn off him, being stabbed, frozen, decapitated, and even had to resort to kill himself twice.

Kazuma had a similar story as he had died 7 times and even though some of them sounded comedic, that didn't mean they weren't painful. Like Subaru, he was beheaded. However, he also died by shock, was strangled to death, fell off a tree, dissolved by poison, backfired by a trap, and even trampled to death.

Basically, they just stopped caring about the world around them. They just waited for those two agonizing months to finally go by so they could finally be done with this mess.
