"I just don't get it. Why would I of all people would dream about Peter Pan?" With a groan, she sat down on the edge of the curve. Henry was looking through her diary for clues, and she was considering dropping The Whole thing and just go back to New York where she belonged.
"Sleeping curse?"
Sleeping curse….what's that?" She looked up with curiosity.
Henry sat down next to her. "A sleeping curse is where you're in a deep sleep and whatever happened in the dream effects you in real life. I've went through it, I wonder if what you're experiencing is a curse…"
The girl shrugged. "Isn't this considered a land without magic? I live in New York. If there's a curse on me, pretty sure I'd no about it."
"No. No you wouldn't have. Yes there's no magic out here but…from what I've seen and felt, magic does exist."
"Whatever Henry I don't care anymore-"
"MOTHER?!"
Suddenly hearing a scream, the teen girl jumped out of her skin. "W-what was that?"
"My mom." Henry suddenly turned pale. "Come on she can't see you right now."
"Your mom…."
"Also known as the evil queen."
"She's the one who created Storybrooke right?" Feeling her arm, she found herself being dragged towards a diner that also combined as a inn. Looking behind her, a man and woman rushed into a house and she didn't want to ask what was happening.
"Ruby! I need a favor.."
"Sure kiddo, what ya need?" A girl dressed in red walked around the counter. She eyed the new comer but didn't question anything. Well not yet.
"This is Shan, she came back with us and before I explain, I need you to hide her. Something's wrong with my mom and she can't see her right now…"
"Well I-"
"Thanks gotta go." Giving Shan back her diary, Henry ran out the door.
Meanwhile, Shan smiled innocently at the girl now known as Ruby. "We heard a scream and-" She sighed. "And you're wondering who I am and why I'm here aren't you…Well I-"
"Save your breath. I don't need to know. I can sense that you're a good person."
You can? But-erm-thanks I guess. Still, you should know that um…." The girl hesitated. "I know about m.a.g.I.c." She cough.
"I had a feeling." Ruby smirked. "Pretty sure that's Henry's book you're hugging."
"Oh. Right I was looking through it earlier. So…um…this town…"
"It's okay to ask. You're wondering if we're aware? Well, we didn't at first. For the last 28 years, we've been going through life without knowing. It felt like time stayed still while each day would repeat itself. Then, Emma showed up. The more time she spent time with us, the more we become aware of the small changes. Like that clock outside. It was stock at the same time until now. 8:15."
"I-this is admittedly overwhelming. I rather not learn everything at this time…"
"Alright." Ruby thought for a moment. "Say are you hungry? We make the best hamburgers in town."
"Oh umm…" Checking her pockets, she frowned. "I think I've left my wallet at home. Sorry,"
"Don't worry it's on me. Besides. Henry should know that his new friend is taken care of."
"Ruby I need you to-" A elderly woman made her presence known, stopping mid sentence as she eyed the new girl. "Who are you." She questioned.
"I'm….u-um…."
"Grandma, you remember Thumbelina don't you?"
"Huh-" Seeing Ruby winking at her, it didn't take her long to catch on. "Oh, right. It's me ma'am, Thumbelina. Except here, I was given the name Shannon."
"Hmmmmm."
"Grandma Henry found her confused and lost. He brought her to me because he thought I could help her remember what she was doing before coming here."
"Henry even gave me his book to use."
"Well alright dear.I suppose I wasn't expecting to see you at this size. After all dear you've grown, literally."
"Land without magic grandma!" Ruby reminded her.
"Ah yes, well carry on girls. Ruby when you're done here I need you to do something for me."
"What is it?"
Meanwhile, Shan was going through her thoughts. A town with fairytale characters, a girl dressed in red, and she has a grandma? A bell went off in her head. "You're little red riding hood! I mean…it's coming back to me! Ruby I remember." She smiled innocently, pretending to be Thumbelina. Luckily for her it was working? "Anyway yes yes, Ruby I do need your help. And it certainly can't wait. Is there a place we can talk privately? Please?"
