So you know that one really annoying thing in the Triwizard Tournament was when Harry could have won but he wanted to play the hero role too much. Well, that is gonna change.

Harry felt the Gilly weed starting to change back into human form as he swam in the lake. Finally. He found the figures tied up and started undoing the rope that coiled Ron. He also started undoing the others ropes but the merpeople stopped him.

"But I want to make sure all of them survive it" Harry protested

Cedric who had started to unravel Cho Chang's ropes spoke up:

"Harry, although Dumbledore can be untrustworthy at times, do you really think that he will just leave the remaining people to die?" Cedric asked

"But-" Harry started saying

"I know that you like to be the hero of the day but try to let it be" Cedric interrupted

Harry sighed and then nodded

"Ok so since you were first and I am a nice chap, I will give you 20 seconds head start to win this thing before I start going up ok?"

Harry nodded again and felt rather relieved that Cedric was so kind. He finished untangling the ropes as Cedric started to count down. He dragged the figure of Ron upwards towards the surface of the water and emerged into radiant broad daylight. The crowd watching cheered in excitement as a voice announced

"Harry Potter emerges from the lake with his companion and therefore puts himself into 1st place!"

He and Ron were dragged up onto a little platform and thoroughly dried with towels as Ron woke up and did a little victory dance at hearing they had won. A mug of hot chocolate was shoved in their hands.

"You did very well Harry" Neville said timidly

"You made most of it happen, Neville" Harry praised

Neville looked over the moon as his cheeks blushed amber. Harry smiled as he saw Cedric emerge with Cho from the depths of the lake and the magically enhanced voice stated

"Cedric Diggory has arrived shortly after Harry Potter and has secured his place as second"

Harry walked over to Cedric as Cho's friends crowded around her.

"Umm… I just want to thank you for convincing me not to play heroes, I probably wouldv'e lost otherwise" Harry admitted

Cedric shrugged, "You were there fast so you have the right to get out first, I was just playing fairly" despite the serious tone, Cedric winked.

"thanks" Harry said.

"We are both from Hogwarts so we should be fair to each other" Cedic said as he walked towards Cho.

Harry watched as Cedric hugged Cho, he realised that he wasn't envious of Cedric anymore and felt rather in awe of him. Ron walked over to Harry,

"What were you chatting about with Diggory?" he asked

"Nothing much" Harry replied

"We did it, we won!" Ron screamed

Harry considered correcting him and saying that it had nothing to do with Ron that they had won and that only Neville, Cedric and himself deserved that glory but he refrained from doing so. He was in way too much of a good mood to spoil it with bothering himself about Ron or his feeble attempts at honour or glory.

Harry was glad that Cedric was there to remind him not to be a hero. Who knows, he might have come second or third and much worse things might have escalated.
