"alright brats."
everyone stared at Anko.
"The next part of the exam shall be in there." she pointed towards the forest behind her "the forest of death. my home."
"intimidating." Naruto said sarcastically.
it was then a kunai was thrown at Naruto.
Naruto quickly used his sand to block it and then placed it in his hand "lava hand" the kunai then melted.
Anko grew a tick mark "YOU JERK, KUNAIS COST ME MONEY!"
"then don't throw kunais at people not intimidated by your bullcrap and you won't need to spend money to buy new ones."
"GRRRRR. FINE! whatever." she then pulled some papers and passed it towards everyone "just sign these stupid waivers saying that we're not responsible for any injuries or death."
"DEATH?!" Sakura yelled.
Anko groaned "yes, yes, you can die there. either by wildlife or by the other participants."
meanwhile in a booth, a certain smoker couldn't help but comment "man, I've never seen Anko so pissed and cranky. you Kurenai?"
"nope."
"what else is there? ano." she said "you're in there for a week."
"you haven't explained what we're doing yet." Naruto pointed out.
"oh. yeah. okay each team will have a scroll, either a heaven or a earth, your job is to get the other. once you do head to the tower. you have 5 minutes to decide on who carries your scroll."
after everyone received their scroll, team 7 received theirs, a Earth scroll.
"okay, so who should be the one to carry it?" Sasuke asked.
"I'll do it." Naruto exclaimed "I'm the best for defending it."
seeing no protest, Sasuke handed the scroll to Naruto.
"Naruto-kun."
"yes, Hinata?"
"I have an idea. when the test finally begins, you should make a dozen or so shadow clones and have them transform into us. and have them scatter."
Naruto nodded.
"alright brats, ready set GO!"
Naruto made a total of 15 clones and said clones quickly scattered into the forest.
as team 7 walked around the forest, discussing their next move, Naruto suddenly felt something.
"guys."
"what is it, Naruto-kun?"
"I have to go to the bathroom."
Sasuke looked towards the blonde "really?"
Naruto nodded, he then pulled out the scroll and threw it to Hinata "keep it safe."
Hinata nodded.
as Naruto walked off, Sasuke stopped him."we need a pass code."
Naruto raised an eyebrow "why?"
"so that I know it is you. we're facing people that likely know how to use the henge."
Naruto said nothing and gave Sasuke a 'are you a idiot' look.
"what?" Sasuke asked angerly.
Naruto continued to say nothing, and slowly pointed at Hinata.
"oh... yeah."
Naruto rolled his eyes "you guys keep going up ahead, I'll catch up."
Naruto was just doing his business.
Naruto sighed "I knew I should have gone before we exited the building."
"NARUTO, ABOVE YOU!" Kokuō yelled.
"huh?"
before Naruto could properly react, a snake had rained down upon him and swallowed him whole.
the snake burped at its meal and as it made its way to its destination, its stomach felt weird.
the snake looked down at its stomach.
a knife suddenly came out of its stomach.
using wind release, Naruto quickly cut open the snake's stomach.
as the snake laid dead, Naruto crawled out of its stomach "Gah, that's disgusting."
as he got up, he saw three people wearing a musical note headbands.
"so this is the brat?"
"yep."
it was then, Naruto noticed something "you guys have pretty big chakra reserves for genins. more akin to that of jonins."
it was then the middle one walked up "yeah, we're not genin. but that's not important, what is important is that you're coming with us."
Naruto pulled out his other knife "no, I'm not."
the three said nothing, as they charged towards the blonde
"hey Sasuke."
Sasuke looked back at Hinata "yes?"
"I want some advice on something."
the Uchiha groaned "what is it?"
"I'm about to confess my love to-" before Hinata could finish, the Uchiha cut her off.
"oh, you're finally going to confess? finally, I was beginning to worry that I would lose."
Hinata raised an eyebrow "lose?"
"I made a bet with Kakashi on when you would confess your love to Naruto. he said after this year, I said before."
the Hyūga heiress grew a tick mark "I have half a mind to use 64 palms with lightning release on you."
Sasuke gulped.
Hinata sighed "anyways, yes. after the exams are over, I plan on confessing my love towards him."
"and you're asking me how to do it?"
Hinata nodded.
the Uchiha groaned "you came to the wrong person, but if you REALLY want my advice. just go up to him, and say 'I love you'."
silence filled the area.
Hinata sweat dropped "really?"
"like I said, you came to the wrong person. if you really want love confession advice that badly, go to Ino, Sakura, or one of your fanclub members."
before Hinata could respond, a certain blonde boy came out of the bush.
"hey guys." he said with a smile
Hinata actived her byakugan.
"sorry, I just real-" 'Naruto' was cut off by Hinata.
"ARGH, Hinata what was that-"
"YOU are not Naruto-kun." Hinata said angerly.
"what are you talking about, I am-" 'Naruto' cut himself once he looked towards the byakugan princess "shit."
'Naruto' then dropped his disguise.
the figure then rushed at the two.
Naruto battled the men.
"fireball jutsu" one of them yelled.
it was then Naruto sprouted the nanabi's wings "and once again, lucky number 7 saves the day."
'thanks Chōmei.'
Naruto then pulled out his pipe and blew into it.
"look out, those things have acid in them."
"hmpf, so you've done your homework." Naruto said in calm voice "no matter, whatever information you have will not help you."
Naruto then landed on the ground and made some hand seals "fireball jutsu"
a blue fireball charged at one of them knocking them out.
"hahaha YES! melt them bitches down to ash!" Matatabi yelled.
"Earth holding jutsu"
Naruto quickly reacted and flew up "what made you think that would work?"
"fireball jutsu"
the blue fireball knocks out another.
Naruto tries to find the other but to no avail "guess he ran off."
"Naruto, you should head towards your friends, call it a hunch, but I doubt they were just after you." Gyūki said.
'you're right.'
Naruto then sprouted shichibi wings and head towards his friends directions.
it was then, another snake popped out and wrapped itself around Naruto.
"argh, again?"
the snake went into bite Naruto but before Naruto yelled "lava armor" and he was suddenly encased in lava.
the snake hissed in pain, before finally letting go of Naruto.
'thanks Gokū'
Naruto looked down towards the snake, when suddenly it puffed out of existence.
"a summon? who the hell summons snakes?"
the blonde stood there, pondering before it finally hit him "oh shit, shit shit shit shit SHIT!" he then quickly took off
"where is Naruto?" Sasuke asked the tied up foe.
"I ain't telling you fuckers shit." he replied
Hinata then struck one of his ribs.
"ARGH! FUCKING BITCH!"
"you will if you wish to keep your bones in tact." she said coldly
"suck a dick in hell." the figure said through his teeth.
Hinata struck another rib "I can do this all day." she said.
before the figure could retort, a kunai was thrown at his neck, killing him instantly.
Hinata and Sasuke looked to see three people.
"he was useless anyways." one of them said.
Hinata quickly pulled out her bow and aimed it at one of them "who the hell are you?"
"like we are telling you. scatter."
the three then fell back into the woods.
activating her byakugan, Hinata quickly searched for them. finding one of them in a tree.
she took aim and fired at him.
the figure fell down dead.
another figure ran out of the bush and rushed towards Sasuke.
Sasuke took out his tantō and activated his three tomoe sharingan.
the nin attempted to punch the Uchiha, but Sasuke quickly reacted and slashed the nin.
the nin fell back in pain.
Sasuke made some hand seals "fireball jutsu"
the nin couldn't dodge in time and the fireball landed on him.
Hinata looked over to her raven haired teammate and fired another arrow.
the arrow grazed the Uchiha slightly but passed by him, hitting another nin in the bush.
silence filled the area.
"you could have hit me." Sasuke said angerly.
"but I didn't."
before Sasuke could retort they heard some chuckling.
they turned to see a Ame kunoichi.
"ano... can we help you?" Hinata asked.
"my my." the kunoichi said while smiling "the sharingan and the byakugan. what a treat. I wish I could have both, but I sadly can't. oh well."
the girl then turned his attention towards the Uchiha "a three tomoe sharingan... very nice, Sasuke." she said while licking her lips.
Sasuke threw some shurikens at the kunoichi, who quickly dodged and ran towards the Uchiha.
Hinata pulled back her bow, only to be hit into a tree by a snake.
"Hinata!" Sasuke yelled.
it was then, the figure picked up the Uchiha by the throat and threw him into a tree.
Hinata recomposed herself and looked up to see five snakes heading towards her.
while the byakugan princess dealt with that, up on a branch the Ame kunoichi looked at the Uchiha.
"say Sasuke, don't you wish to avenge your clan?"
Sasuke froze at what the girl said.
"cause I can help."
"how?"
the girl smirked "simple, all you need to do is accept my gift."
the kunoichi's neck grew in length, and Sasuke stood there in fear at what he was seeing.
as the girl went towards Sasuke to give him a 'gift' she was suddenly stopped by a block of sand.
'shit'
"Naruto!"
it was then that said blonde landed in front of his teammate "the hell are you doing here, snake?"
"oh, you know who I am?"
"yes."
the 'girl' smirked and ripped off a mask, revealing a pale looking man "it is nice to see that they still teach history."
"the hell are you doing here, Orochimaru?" Naruto asked angerly.
"oh, I'm not telling. but all you need to know is that I need both you and Sasuke." Orochimaru said while giggling.
Sasuke then looked at Naruto "Naruto, Hinata is in trouble, go help her. I'll handle him."
Naruto looked back at his teammate and debated on whether he should do as he said. he then decided that Sasuke could handle Orochimaru on his own, or at least until him and Hinata could help.
"okay, you got this, Sasuke." he replied before jumping down to help Hinata.
Sasuke then pulled his tantō.
"hehe, nice sword. want to see mine?" Orochimaru then reached into his mouth and pulled out a white tantō.
the two then rushed at each other.
while that was going, Hinata was struggling with the snakes.
they were quick and even with her 360 vision, it was hard to react to them in time.
as a snake went to bite her, it was then that "air bullet" was yelled.
she smiled at who it was, the real Naruto.
"Naruto-kun!"
"Hinata are you okay?"
she nodded.
it was then that all the snakes decided to rush at the two.
Naruto quickly grabbed onto Hinata and used the shichibi's wings to fly up.
using the height advantage, Hinata quickly used her bow and shot at the snakes.
it was then the duo heard a loud "ARGH!"
the two looked down to see their teammate, Sasuke, held up by a tree and getting bitten by Orochimaru.
Hinata gasped "is that?"
"yes." Naruto said, angry at himself for putting his teammate in danger by abandoning him.
Naruto quickly put Hinata on the ground and rushed towards the snake sannin.
as Sasuke fell to the ground unconscious, Orochimaru quickly reacted and dodged the jinchūriki.
he then swept his sword down, cutting off his wings.
the blonde then face planted into a tree "MY WINGS, SHIT!"
'Chōmei, can you grow me new ones?'
"I can, but not now, it'll take an entire day before I can grow new ones, sorry Gaki."
"FUCK!"
Orochimaru looked towards the blonde "such a shame that I made a deal with someone that states that I must give you to him. such a shame. the ichibi is a very powerful being and it's the weakest out of all the bijū, and you have it along with all nine of the others."
meanwhile inside of Naruto, the ichibi was shaking his cage in anger.
"LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT SO I CAN KILL THIS LITTLE BASTARD!" Shukaku yelled out.
it was then Orochimaru grabbed Naruto by the throat "oh well. anyways enough talking, to make sure that you don't escape, I'll just tighten your seal and-" Orochimaru was then cut off
"lava armor"
"AAHHHHHH! YOU LITTLE SHIT!" Orochimaru yelled while quickly backing away.
Orochimaru than threw a kunai at the blonde "he said not to kill you, he didn't say anything about you being unharmed."
Naruto noticed that the kunai was a explosive tag, but by the time he noticed, it was too late.
the tag exploded, sending Naruto into the tree Sasuke was at.
"NARUTO-KUN!"
as the Hyūga yelled out for her crush, a snake wrapped around, breaking her bow in the process.
channeling lightning through her body, she yelled "kaiten" and successfully got the snake off her.
Orochimaru sighed "actually, I'm curious. what will happen if I do place my gift on the boy? hmm... well he never said anything about that. I think I will give him my-" before he could finish, he was suddenly knocked into a tree.
it was then everyone saw a purple haired kunoichi "YOU, HYŪGA! GET YOUR TEAMMATES AND RUN OFF!"
Hinata complied with the proctor's orders, and quickly grabbed Naruto and Sasuke, before proceeding to run as far away as possible.
Hinata was laying next to a tree, there she looked towards his unconscious teammates.
breathing heavily, she counted herself lucky that she was unharmed.
she activated her byakugan to check for any danger, seeing three genin heading towards her.
quickly she hid her unconscious teammates "its okay, I'll defend you." she then looked towards the blonde "especially you."
after hiding, she waited for the three.
after awhile, the three showed up.
"you!" the bandaged one called out "give us Naruto and Sasuke, and don't you dare lie and say that you don't know where they are."
Hinata said nothing, and took her taijutsu stance.
"so you want to be like that huh? fine, Zaku, Kin. deal with her, I'll look for the two targets."
once the bandaged man left, the kunoichi of the group threw a couple of senbons towards the Hyūga.
Hinata dodged and quickly threw a couple of shuriken towards the kunoichi.
one of them hits the girl's arm "shit. you fucking bitch!"
Hinata runs towards her and threw a punch sending her into a tree.
it was then, that the other one sent some airwaves which sent the Hyūga heiress towards a tree.
she quickly got up and recomposed herself "is that all you got?"
Hinata had noticed that one of them was reaching for something 'I don't know what she is reaching for, but I know it can't be good.' she then threw a kunai directly at the oto kunoichi's arm.
"ARGH, FUCKING BITCH!" She yelled out.
the other oto nin let out another airwave attack, only this one was bigger.
Hinata was now laying against the tree in pain, but she refused to let her teammates down.
she spat out the blood, and got up.
she then pulled out a chakra metal kunai and channeled lightning into it, she then threw it towards the oto shinobi.
the shinobi shrieked in pain.
before he could react, Hinata then ran up to him and channeled lightning through her fists "8 trigram, 64 palms"
"2 palms, 4 palms, 8 palms, 16 palms, 32 palms, 64 palms"
the oto genin is then launched into a nearby tree.
the oto kunoichi stands there, unsure of what to do.
Hinata then knocked her out.
"so, you've managed to deal with my teammates, huh?"
Hinata looked to see that the bandaged genin had returned.
'I'm sorry guys, but I don't have anymore energy left within me.'
the bandaged genin then ran up and grabbed the Hyūga heiress by the collar and proceeded to punch her in face.
Hinata could only look at the spot where she hid her teammates.
as the punches continued, the oto nin kept asking where the two were, and she only chuckled at the question, which caused the punches to get more and more brutal.
before he could land another punch, he suddenly noticed a bunch of chakra in a nearby bush "so that's where you hid them. so close yet so far."
it was then that Naruto and Sasuke got up and walked out of the bush.
the blonde looked at his raven haired friend, noticing that part of his body was being covered by some weird black flames "Sasuke, are you okay?"
"argh, no. shit, what is this crap?" the Uchiha said through his teeth.
Naruto then turned to see a bruised and bloody Hinata being held by a bandaged genin.
this sparked something within him, in that moment, all he saw was someone, he cared deeply about, nearly killed.
Naruto growled in anger and a red aura surrounded his body. his body grew animalistic features, most prominently. claws.
"hey, wait-"
"boil release"
Naruto then rushed at the bandaged genin and proceeded to beat the life out of him.
after many slashes and strikes. Naruto had enough.
the bandaged genin barely had time to react, before he found his heart being grabbed by the jinchūriki.
he looked up at the blonde, anger in his eyes.
"you made your last mistake."
the blonde then crushed the genin's heart.
as the genin fell dead, Naruto just stood there, afraid to look at his friends.
'they'll probably think that I'm a monster.'
he had always feared that he would go berserk. the bijūs warned him, and he feared that his friends would suddenly change their opinions on him. suddenly rejecting him.
it was then, Naruto found two arms wrapped around his chest. he looked to see Hinata, who had gathered the last of her strength to comfort her blonde teammate.
"It's okay, Naruto-kun." she said weakly "I'm okay."
the red aura slowly died down, along with his animalistic features.
"Hinata."
Sasuke then walked up to his teammates "come on, they had the other scroll. let's go."
the blonde looked over to the raven haired boy "Sasuke."
"what I saw doesn't change my opinion on you, so don't worry." Sasuke reassured.
the blonde smiled "thanks guys."
after much more walking, team 7 had finally arrived at the tower.
"finally, Kami, I'm drained." Naruto said.
the Uchiha chuckled "you tired? I never thought that I would see the day."
Naruto didn't respond, he only fell down unconscious.

2. Asta: the dragon slayer. Based on a fanfic by Sounga12 titled the anti dragon emperor. Asta has two grimores the Anti-magic we all know and love, and a grimore that gives him the abilities of dragon slayers from fairy tail.
3. The end at the valley. Based on a fanfic by sakurademonalchemist titled changed fate. This fanfic has a drunk Jiraiya tell Naruto that his biggest regret was not killing Orochimaru, this impacts Naruto a lot. Timeskip to the fateful fight between Naruto and Sasuke, Naruto pleads with Sasuke, but eventually, Naruto is left with no choice but to kill Sasuke. Read on how much this impacts our favorite blonde. Oh and massive AU where Nagato never went down a dark path.
