Elsewhere, in a diamond mine, a few dwarfs are working in the mine; who are none other than the human Cheese Sandwich, Cranky Doodle, the human Tender Taps, the human Hay Fever, and Big McIntosh; with beards that are the same color and style as their hair. Cheese, Cranky, Tender, and Hay Fever are digging up diamonds with pick axes while Big Mac is sitting on top of a mine cart full of diamonds that's being hauled by a deer.

We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig

In our mine the whole day through

To dig dig dig dig dig dig dig

Is what we like to do

(Cheese) It ain't no trick, to get rich quick

(Cranky) If ya dig dig dig with a shovel or a pick

(Tender) In a mine

(echo through the mine) In a mine

(Hay Fever) In a mine!

(echo through the mine) In a mine!

(Cheese/Cranky/Tender/Hay Fever) Where a million diamonds...

(echo through the mine) Shiiiiine!

(Cheese/Cranky/Tender/Hay Fever) We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig

From early morn 'til night

We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig

Up everything in sight

(Outside the mine, another dwarf, who is none other than Timber Spruce, with a beard that's also the same color and style as his hair, is at a workbench tapping on a diamond with a tiny mallet creating a tinging sound, indicating that the diamond is good and he tosses it into one of the sacks that are filled with other good gems.)

(Cheese) We dig up diamonds by the score

(Hay Fever) Thousand rubies, sometimes more!

(Timber taps on a ruby with the mallet, creating a hollow, clanging sound which made him cringe. Turns out the ruby was bad.)

(Tender) Though we don't know what we dig 'em for

(Cheese/Cranky/Tender/Hay Fever) We dig dig dig-a-dig dig

Timber tosses the bad ruby away and it landed on the ground with the other discarded gems and then another dwarf, who is none other than Snails, who doesn't have a beard like the others, sweeps the discarded gems with a brush into a dust pan. Once he'd did that, he walks merrily over to an area and he tosses the discarded gems away. Snails walked up next to Timber, who is examining an emerald with a loupe magnifier and he saw two diamonds on the table, much to his absorption. Seconds later, Snails tugs on the sleeve of Timber's shirt, giving his attention to him and he became shocked when he saw Snails with the diamonds over his eyes that are reflected on every portion. Unamused of Snails' foolishness, Timber whaps him on the head with his hand, causing the diamonds to fall out from his eyes.

Just then, the cuckoo clock, that's mounted on a tree, strucks 5 o'clock and two tiny, mechanical, wooden blacksmith figurines emerge from the doors on either side and they began whacking on a tiny model anvil with their hammers, emitting a clinking sound. Timber hears this and he calls out to the others.

Heigh-hooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

(Cheese/Cranky/Tender/Hay Fever) Heigh-hooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Heigh-hoooo, heigh-hoooo, heigh-hoooooooooooooooooooo!

Cranky, Cheese, Big Mac, Tender, and Hay Fever are exiting the mine shaft, carrying their pick axes over their shoulders.

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho

It's home from work we go

(Timber throws a bag of gems into a vault along with the other bag of gems and he sets off with the others.)

(whistling)

Heigh-ho

Heigh-ho heigh-ho heigh-ho

(Snails is about to throw a bag of gems into the vault as well but he unwittingly threw himself right into the vault with the bag.)

Heigh-ho

It's home from work we go

(Snails runs out of the vault and he closes the door and locks it.)

(whistling)

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho

After Snails had lock the vault door, he sets off with the others but then realizes he's holding the vault key. He hangs the key up onto a peg next to the door and he runs off with the others.

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, heigh-ho, heigh-ho

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, heigh-ho-hum

(The dwarfs are marching along on their way back home; with Timber leading the way carrying a lantern. Snails, who is carrying a grub hoe over his shoulder, catches up to them.)

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho

It's home from work we go

(whistling)

Heigh-ho

Heigh-ho heigh-ho heigh-ho

Heigh-ho

It's home from work we go

Back at the cottage, Fluttershy, who is holding a candle, approaches the stairway. "Let's see what's upstairs," she said to the animals and she hiked her dress and she began walking up the stairs as the animals follow. The turtle tries to climb up, but falls flat on its back. He grabs his tail with his mouth and he pulls himself up. He begins clamping on each stair with his mouth as he starts climbing, although very slowly. Soon, everyone reaches the top stair and Fluttershy opens the door. Before them are seven small beds, three on the left wall, three on the right wall, and one facing forward.

"Ohh, what adorable little beds!" Fluttershy said with radiance and she approached the beds. "And look, they have their names carved on them."

Fluttershy reads the names on each bed. "'Timber', 'Cheese', 'Hay Fever', 'Snails'... What funny names for children," she chuckled and she read the rest of the names on the other beds. "'Cranky', 'Tender', and 'Big Mac'."

Fluttershy yawns as she stretches her arms. "I am so sleepy," she said as she sets the candle on a nearby shelf and then the mother rabbit and her young ones, who are settled on one of the beds, yawned as well. Fluttershy uttered a swoony moan as she laid down across Cheese's, Hay Fever's, and Snails' bed on her back. One of the birds flew over to the candle and it used its tail feathers to put out the flame. The birds used their beaks to pull the bed covers over Fluttershy. All the animals are now sleeping soundly, except for the turtle who is almost to the top of the stairs.

Suddenly, the sound of the dwarfs singing is heard in the distance outside, causing the animals to wake up. They rush over to the window and seeing that the dwarfs are drawing closer, they all scramble for the stairs. The turtle had eventually made it to the top stair, but doesn't get far before the rest of the animals run over him. He tries to follow them but he fell down the stairs and bumped into the wall. Meanwhile, the animals dash out the front door and they take cover in some trees nearby. The dwarfs are just coming up the hill as they continue their song.

"Look!" cried Timber as he stopped and pointed at their house, causing the others to run in back of him. "Our house! The lit's light—uh, the light's lit!"

The dwarfs crept up behind a couple of trees and they poke their heads out one by one around the two trees. "Jiminy Crickets!" they all exclaimed in unison with astonishment, observing the peculiarity of their home.

"The door is open," said Timber.

"The chimney's smokin'," said Cheese.

"Something's in there," said Hay Fever.

"Maybe a ghost!" Cheese assumed.

"Or a goblin," said Tender.

"A demon!" said Timber.

"Or a dragon!" said Hay Fever.

"Mark my words, there's trouble a-brewin'," Cranky proclaimed. "Felt it coming all day... My corns hurt."

"Gosh," said Cheese.

"That's a bad sign," said Tender.

"What'll we do?" Tender, Timber, and Big Mac asked each other in unison.

"Let's sneak up on it," said Cheese.

"Yes," Timber boldly said. "We'll, uh, squeak up—uh, sneak up. Come on, hen—uh, men...follow me."

The dwarfs, led by Timber, all tiptoed silently towards the cottage with raised picks and slightly frightened expressions on their faces. Snails, who is last in line, with his grub hoe raised, is most frightened.
