As the dwarfs reach the cottage — with Cranky and Hay Fever peeking through the window — Timber cautiously peers through the opened door.
"Psst," he called the others, beckoning them to come closer.
Timber slowly opens the door and looks around. The other dwarfs crowd around him, with Snails peeking out through Big Mac's beard. Seeing that the coast is clear, the dwarfs tiptoe slowly inside, their shoes squeaking on the clean floor and Big Mac steps on Snails as they enter. Snails picks himself up and he shuts the door, causing the others to jump and scramble around frantically and then they stopped, with their pick axes raised and saw that it was only Snails and they shushed firmly at him. Snails nodded hysterically and he turned towards the door and shushed firmly at it.
"Careful, men," Timber told the others. "Search every cook and nanny—uh, hook and granny—uh, crook and fan—uh... Search everywhere!"
The dwarfs split up, looking around for anything suspicious. From up in the rafters, the bluebird family watched them sneaking around, looking for whatever's in their house. Over at the window, the doe, a rabbit, and two chipmunks also watch and then they briefly duck out of sight as two of them pass by and then they went back to peeking. Hay Fever and Tender are following Timber as they're tiptoeing until the two made a loud creaking sound on the floor with their foot.
"Shhh...quiet!" Timber told the two and they continued on tiptoeing.
"Look!" cried Timber when he noticed the cleaned floor, causing Hay Fever and Tender to stop as they raise their pick axes. "The floor! It's been swept!"
Cranky runs a finger across the top of the backrest part of the chair. "Huh! Chair's been dusted."
"Our window's been washed," said Cheese.
"Gosh. Our cobwebs are missin'," Tender pointed out.
"Wha...Wha...Wha... Why the whole place is cleaned," said Timber.
"There's dirty work afoot," said Cranky and Timber nods in agreement.
Over by the sink, Big Mac and Hay Fever noticed that all the dishes that were in it are gone.
"Sink's empty," said Hay Fever. "Hey! Someone's stole our dishes!"
"They ain't stoled, they're hid in the cupboard," Cheese said as he pointed his thumb at said cupboard.
Tender grabbed a cup from the cupboard, inspecting it. "My cup's been washed," he sadly said. "Sugar's gone."
Snails and Cheese stood before the fireplace where the pot — that's hanging on a fireplace crane — is cooking something.
"Somethin's cookin'," said Cheese and he took a couple of whiffs, and so did Snails. "Smells good."
Cheese grabbed a nearby soup spoon attempting to sample whatever's in the pot but Cranky pulled him and Snails away from the pot.
"Don't touch it, you fools!" he snapped. "Might be poisoned."
The pot shoots out some steam, causing Snails, Cranky, and Cheese to jump back in surprise.
"See? It's witch's brew," Cranky said.
"Look what's happened to our stable—uh, table," Timber said when he saw that it had been neatly set with plates, bowls, glasses, and silverware; as well as a litted candelabra and the flower-filled vase placed in the center.
"Flowers!" Tender radiantly said as he grabbed them from the vase and he took a big sniff.
"Huh?!" Hay Fever uttered mystifyingly.
Tender held the flowers close to Hay Fever's face. "Look, goldenrod."
"Don't do it! Take 'em away!" Hay Fever exclaimed as he recoiled. "My nose, my hay fever! You know I can't stand it! I ca...I ca...I..."
Hay Fever was about to let out a big sneeze until Timber, Tender, Cheese, and Cranky placed their fingers underneath his nose, preventing it from happening. They drew their fingers away from his nose and Hay Fever lets out a sigh of relief.
"Thanks," he said, but it didn't help for long as Hay Fever let out a gigantic sneeze, blowing the others across the room like a hurricane. Cranky, however, tries to fight against the blast. The blast from the air blew Tender, Snails, Big Mac, Timber, and Cheese into a wall, causing the stuff from the shelf above them to fall and then they shushed at Hay Fever.
"You crazy fool!" Cranky rebuked at Hay Fever. "Fine time you picked to sneeze."
"I couldn't help it. I can't tell. When you gotta you gotta..." Hay Fever said and he starts to feel another sneeze coming on. "I-I-I gotta... It-it-it's comin'...!"
Just when Hay Fever was about to let out another big sneeze, the others tackle him down in a pile, quelling the sneeze. Hay Fever pokes his head out from the pile, about to release a sneeze, but Cheese and Tender pulled him back in. After a few seconds, they pull away from Hay Fever revealing that they had tied his beard tightly around his nose to keep him from sneezing.
"There, that'll hold him," said Cheese.
Hay Fever sighed with relief. "Thanks!" he said and Cheese shushed him.
"Quiet, you fool!" Cranky snapped at Hay Fever. "You want to get us all killed?"
Taking the advantage, the bluebird family nodded at each other as they winked and they began tapping their beaks on the beam, creating a loud noise which caused the dwarfs to startle.
"Wha... Wha-Wha... What's that?!" Cheese asked with fear.
"That's...it," said Timber.
"Sounded close," said Tender.
"It's in this room...right NOW," said Cranky.
Still taking the advantage, the birds looked at each other and they let out a loud, shrilling noise, causing the dwarfs to start again and they began running around the room screaming and then they scattered into different places to hide. Hay Fever jumps right into a pot and he peeks out from it. Cheese is hiding behind a chair while Big Mac pokes his head out from a bucket with the mop on top of his head. Snails pokes his head out from a wood pile with an axe impaled in the log on top of his head. Cranky emerged from a pile of potatoes on the floor, while inside the tipped-over sack, and Tender crawled out from under the stairs as the others gathered around and look upstairs, with Timber holding a candle.
"It's up there," Timber whispered.
"Yeah, in the bedroom," Tender whispered as well.
"One of us...has got to go down...and chase it up. Uh-uh-uh, up...down," said Timber and they all nodded in agreement and then he and the others looked at Snails, batting their eyes in a mischievous manner. Snails looked back, thinking they're looking at someone else but then realizes they're looking at him. He tries to get away, but Hay Fever and Cranky, as well as Timber, pulled him back towards the stairs.
"Here... take it," Timber said to Snails shakily, trying to hand him the candle. "Don't be nervous."
Timber places the candle in Snails' quivering hand and the others push him towards the stairs. He cautiously tiptoes up the stairs, making creaking sounds with every step. Once Snails is almost at the top, he stops and he looked back at the others down below.
"Don't be afraid, we're right behind ya," Timber told Snails.
"Yes, right behind ya," the others told Snails as well.
Snails nodded affirmatively, followed by a nervous gulp and he then gets to the top of the stairs. He slowly opens the door a bit and he draws the candle through the opening, moving it around in different directions. He pushes the door wide open and he pokes his head in, looking around to see if the coast is clear and he slowly tiptoes inside the room. He looks back to see if the others are following him when suddenly, the sound of moaning is heard which caused Snails to spin around and saw, what looked like, to him, a ghostly figure emerging from the bed, which is actually Fluttershy stretching underneath the bed covers. Snails jumped while screaming at the top of his lungs and he ran out of the room towards the steps, where the others are almost at the top.
"Here it comes!" said Cranky.
Snails bumps into the others and they all fall down the stairs in a heap. Frightened out of their wits, six of the dwarfs bolted for the door, leaving Snails behind with his legs tied behind his head. The dwarfs whizzed out of the house in the following order: Tender, Big Mac, Cranky, Hay Fever, Cheese, and Timber, who locks the door behind him. Snails, yet stuck in the house, runs smack into the door and pulls on it. The others, thinking the figure in their bedroom is trying to get out, are all holding the door closed in their fashion.
"It's after us!" cried Hay Fever.
"Don't let it out!" cried Tender.
"Hold it shut!" cried Cranky.
Snails, convinced that the figure is awake and after him, pulls frantically on the door handle until it breaks off, sending him flying into a cabinet complete with pots and other kitchenware which had fell on the floor in a heap. Snails, with a tea kettle concealing his head, gets up from the heap with random kitchenware entangled around him and he runs blindly out the front door. Outside, the dwarfs are in a tree, readying their weapons as the "figure" approaches towards them.
"Here it comes," said Hay Fever.
"Now's our chance," said Cheese.
"Get it now!" said Cranky.
They all jumped down on the "strange figure" and they start beating on it with their weapons. Eventually, the stuff is revealed to be Snails. Cranky hits him on the head once more until Timber stops them.
"Hold on there!" he shouted. "It-it-it's only Snails.
"Did you see it?" Hay Fever asked Snails and Snails nodded affirmatively.
"How big was it?" asked Cheese and Snails stretches his arms out wide, implying that it's really huge.
"Wa-Was it a dragon?" asked Cranky and Snails nodded affirmatively.
"Has it got horns?" Hay Fever asked again and Snails puts his hands to his ears and holds up his index fingers like horns.
"Was it breathin' fire?" Cranky asked again.
"Was it droolin'?" Cheese asked again and Snails does the drool.
"What was it doin'?" Hay Fever asked and Snails makes a snoring noise as he pantomimes falling asleep.
"He says it's a...a monster...asleep in our beds!" said Timber.
"Let's attack," said Cranky.
"While it's sleeping," Hay Fever added.
"Yeah, while it's sleeping," said Big Mac, Cheese, and Tender in unison.
"Hurry, men! It's now or never!" Timber proclaimed.
"Off with it's head!" declared Cheese.
"Break its bones," said Tender.
"Chop it to pieces," said Hay Fever.
"We'll kill it dead," said Cranky.
The dwarfs are now all the more determined to drive the so-called monster out of their home as they approach back to their house with their weapons. Snails gets up and he picked up his grub hoe, raising it high, and he follows the others; with a pot stuck to his foot and another stuck on his tushy.
