New chapter, hope I didn't keep you all waiting for too long.

I know this one short, but I have another chapter halfway thru, and it's been 3 months since my last update, I want chapters to be at least 7000 words long, this one is 6000, so not that short, but still.

If I at least write like 200 per day minimum, I can probably finish the next one by the end of the month (let's hope)

Edit: I just talk about how I don't want to make more mistakes and then I go and forget to put the horizontal lines! BEFORE I PUBLISH THIS CHAPTER! I'M SOOO DUMB!

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

"Butch, please- Charon! No! No, no, put the gun down!"

"Yo, Gelb, you there?"

"shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

"Nothing."

"The rest of the scouts already came back."

"I know."

"The boss won't be happy about this."

"I. Know."

"When was the last time they checked in?"

"Some days ago."

"Define some."

"… Four."

"Four! And you didn't tell us anything?!"

"I didn't think anything bad happened!"

"Are you stupid?!"

"Hey! Wouldn't be the first time a team does this! Specially if they're send so close to protected land."

*shhhhhhhhhhh*

"Wait, I'm getting something."

"shhhhhhhhhhhhh, Ti, ti, ti, shhhhhhhhh ti, ti, ti."

"What is it?"

"shhhhhhhhhhhhh, Ti, ti, ti, shhhhhhhhh ti, ti, ti."

"It's a Red, give me a sec."

"A Red? What do they want?"

"Shut up and I'll find out."

"Finally! This is Aurum, coming in."

"You really got some balls, Red."

"What took you so long?"

"Up yours, what do you want?"

"You wouldn't have some missing peoples, by any chance?"

"…"

"Would you?"

*clang* *slash* *clang*

Metal clashes violently, with no clear winner, as the two tribesmen fight one another.

"Man, you're getting rusty, or is it the booze?"

*clang* *slash* *clang*

"And yet, you can't hit me."

A swing from the halberd gets block by a big scythe, the man wilding it strikes back, only to get block as well.

"Let's call it bad luck."

"Ooooh, how original."

The two move as fast as bullets, and destroy everything around them as such. Trees getting chopped up, the ground below getting cracked, and everything else around them getting in their way.

They clash and clash, one to defend, and the other one because; pfffff, why not?

"What are you doing here?"

While the two men fight, others tried to regain the awareness of their situation. Two bloody bodies feel nothing but pain, they don't scream or try to make a sound, they don't have the energy.

[Low health detected]

Almost by pure instinct they get up, and their machines injects them with stimpaks. This helps heal the wounds, but doesn't calm the pain cause by a bone popping out of one of their wrists or a leg turned to the other side. They try to patch themselves up as good as possible, taking more chems and putting bones in the right place.

They turn around to their sides, just to see more animals heading their way. One wolf goes for Six's head, he almost manages to dodge it, but the mail man isn't as quick, his helmet being the only reason his face is still intact, the blow breaks the red visors and makes him roll violently on to the ground.

101 resists the tackle of a wild boar, with the same black fur and bone protrusions as the wolves, the animal's head hits him right in the stomach, almost sending him flying to the floor, but the man holds the tusks as hard as possible and plants his feet on the ground with the determination to stop the attack.

The Mojave resident stops rolling and losses momentum, as well as his headgear, the straps easily coming loose, since he didn't have the time to do them properly. The wolf continues his assault, Six pulls out a pistol and shots it's right claw as it came down on him, deflecting the blow, but also losing his gun, as the animal hits it.

With no time to roll away, Six takes out knife and picks up the ragged helmet, trying to block the next attacks, this somewhat worked; the paw of the other claw gets stab (it also broke the knife), and as the grimm tried to bite him, the headgear gets shove into the beast's mouth.

The vault dweller holds the boar in place, not letting it move an inch, however, the beast won't be subjugated so easily, and so, if It can't go thru the human, then It decided to Eat thru the human. The leather on the abdominal part of his armor gets munch on by vicious and wild fangs, getting closer and closer to the metal plates in between the leather, and then to real skin.

Before that could happen, the ex-Sentinel uses his strength to pick up his foe by the tusks and suplex it, slamming it's back against the ground as hard as he can. Rolling quickly to the side and unsheathing his trench knife, the soldier moved to attack, but as he took the first steps, another wolf jumped against him.

Meanwhile, Six pulls out a sawed-off shotgun and activates VATS, the process is starting to hurt more, but that's a problem for later. At first his aim was the wolf, but looking at his right, he saw, a damn white and black ball! Coming for him!

More mutans appear! Another wolf and another boar, each of them goes for one of the fighting humans. They almost connect their hits, but the new wolf got a punch to the face, courtesy of the spiked knuckle guard of the trench knife. While the new boar, who was spinning at high velocity, got shot with a shotgun, redirecting the attack, missing its prey and hitting a tree.

This is all well and good, however, this left both humans open, and their previous opponents noticed. The wolf makes a deep cut on the gunslinger's arm, almost making him lose his grip on the gun. While the suplexed boar charges again, it's enemy leaps aside, but the animal hits the man's left leg, hard.

*Bang**Bang**Bang**Bang**Bang**Bang*

Before the grimm could do more harm, the scythe wilding man shoots the wolf with the helmet in its mouth and the charging boar. The wolfs takes a couple of steps back, while the boar goes face first into the floor

"Don't get distracted!"

Just in time dodge a flying halberd.

This gave enough time for the duo to get back at the beasts. Now with a bloodied arm and a near broken leg, they both keep fighting.

101 gets up, pushing thru the pain, noticing how the wolf he punched was near up and running again. He reaches out (practically jumping) for the boar, using his weight to keep it down, stabbing it in the back multiple times, takes it by the back legs and throws it at the charging wolf, hitting it in the stomach and with enough force that both animals fall down.

Six sees the other boar starting to spin again, activating VATS once more causes his ear to bleed, but with it, he is able to plan his next shot. Pulling the trigger, the pellets hit their target, making the spinning animal change its trajectory, as time began to catch up, Six jumps and kicks the big wolf with both legs, pushing it back and making both animals hit each other.

Running and picking up his sword, the vault dweller strikes both of his enemies, as they lay against one another, stabbing the boar in the back again, the weapon goes thru the animal and stabs the other one in the chest. They struggle and the wolf tries to cut him with his claws, but with the boar in between them, all the soldier has to do is activate the energy current, and electrocute them to dead.

Meanwhile, the now stuck boar, who stuck its tusks against the other wolf's side, tries to break free. The previous attack made them collide against some bushes, destroying most of them until hitting a rock. The wolf screeches, if it could understand (well, more like feel) the concept of pain, probably in agony, having its kin's tusks inside its body causes some discomfort, hitting and pushing the other animal only causes the wolf more discomfort. They both hurt each other trying to fix their situation.

No worries! Their friendly neighbor courier is here to help!

[Quick Draw] Whit unbelievable hand coordination and quickness he shoots, empties his gun, gets another, shoots, empty, another, shoots, empty, another, shoots, empty, another and on and on, until they start becoming ash and the man is left with bunch of empty shotguns on the floor.

With their foe's dead, they turn around, just in time for the flying men coming down near them, still fighting. They instinctually point guns at the man who previously kick their asses, only to see him noticing, and his weapon breaking for a moment as … wait, did that thing just shot out a gran-?

*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM*

The two wastelanders fly thru the air and hit the floor very hard, the only reason they manage to live, is because of the man that pushed them out of the way of the big explosion in time. They roll and fire at the big guy with the first gun they could pull.

The bullets mostly miss or get deflected by the halberd, which is thrown at super speeds at the soldier, hitting his gun and impaling his hand, and pulling the arm in such a way that various cartilages crack and bones are dislocated. While the man who thrown the weapon charges against the gunslinger of the Mojave, the Huntsman gets between the two, blocking the powerful punch with his weapon. This sends both guys back, Qrow landing in his feet, while Six rolls majestically in the hard floor, something definitely braking.

Qrow then gets punch in the face, this little act gave his opponent the edge of battle for a moment. They clash again, the bandit getting little by little the upper hand. With another punch, Qrow falls to the floor.

"Man, you grown soft, Qrow-"

He cuts himself out, just to catch his weapon in midair.

"Really?!"

He shouts at the recovering knight, who doesn't say a word, only pushes a button.

The sticky explosive on the halberd explodes, surprising both tribesmen, and blinding Sam, stopping his movement for enough time for the gunslinger to pull out a new gun. Sam is blasted with blue energy beams, not hurting him a lot, but his muscles stop moving, not responding to the rest of the body.

Blind and unable to move, Sam gets attack by the Wanderer. Who uses all of what was left of his strength to pick up the nearest weapon, and swings the sledgehammer at Sam's head.

[Strength check: Pass] [Strength check: Pass] [Strength check: Pass] [Strength check: Pass]

The weapon immediately breaks upon impact, the hammer's head braking into a million pieces, reducing the hammer to just a stick. Sam resists the hit, not going down, refusing to go down! But he wouldn't lie, that hit gave him a big nasty headache. Six keeps firing, brings out his Li'l Devil, and together, bullets and laser, hit their target (all bullets hitting the bandit's face).

"Enough."

Qrow saw how the bandit's body started to glow, gathering energy from all around him. Knowing what was about to happen, he acts quickly, moving as fast as possible to reach the other two. He does, and pulls them down into the ground.

A ring of heat energy blasted from Sam's body, cutting every tree in the area, and setting some on fire. The bandit strikes again, and Qrow defends again. The black hair man's blade blocks the outlaw's attacks, as their fight resumes.

Both of them know each other's fighting stiles too well, trying to outmaneuver is almost impossible, but Qrow is trying to keep Sam away from the two civilians as possible, giving an advantage to the bandit to exploit. As the bandit targets them, Qrow moves in the way again, blocking the hit, but then getting a kick in the sides, breaking his guard for a moment, and receiving another punch to the face.

Six tried to shoot his laser gun again, but the bandit won't fall for the same trick twice, he kicks the gun out of his hand, and with the wastelanders still on the ground, Sam stomps on Six's hand, forming cracks underneath the floor and dirtying his boot with blood.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

101 fires at the bandit's leg, but his gun does little to hurt the killer. With that same leg, Sam knees the knight on the stomach and holds him by the throat with a strong grip. Six jumps on the tribesman's back, trying to strangle him with one arm, and trying to stab him with the other one in the neck, while the wanderer tried to breath. Sam, stops the incoming knife, holding Six's hand, with his own free hand, throws his head back, hitting the sometimes mercenary in the face, breaking his nose, and throwing both men to floor. Not because he was playing with them (not anymore, at least) but to be able to dodge the blade of a scythe again.

He prepares himself, but before the fight continues, Sam senses more auras approaching.

"What?"

Dodging more attacks, and putting some distance between the two, Sam confirms the new auras in the area.

*panting* "Was about time."

"Did you really ask for help?"

"Thanks for signaling them, by the way, without that little show of yours, this would have lasted longer."

The huntsman points out the burning woods around them.

"…"

"Not so, talk alike now, huh?" His scythe transforms back into a sword.

"We both know I can take you and whoever you called on."

"Yes, and yet, you doubted just now." The both of them pay careful attention to each other's movements. "That's not like the Sam I knew. You would never stop a fight or have this conversation with me."

"Just catching a break."

"You didn't come here to fight, did you?"

"…"

He knows his old tribe all too well.

"What, are, you doing here?"

In his mind, the tribesman curses himself for taking his time and for playing with his foe. Throwing his almost broken weapon into the middle of land between them, he clears his throat and talks.

"You take those two and I leave you alone, and you let me go."

"I never said this was a dealing."

"Neither did I."

*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM*

The halberd exploded, sending everything and everybody flying, dust, metal, plants, tree trunks, big chunks of the terrain. The explosion was waaaaaaaay bigger than the last one, catching the huntsman off guard, and reached the other two combatants, sending them against the floor again, rolling on it like ragdolls, getting hit on by rocks, plants, metal, but somehow still surviving.

Once the dust and rocks were settled, the huntsman, quickly search for his opponent, only to see nothing of the tribesman in question.

"Oh, but of course."

Sheathing his weapon back on his back, the raven hair man goes to check on the other 2 persons left alive there. They landed conveniently near each other, one was thrown against a rock and next to him, his partner was now resting on top of a spiky bush.

They left a blood trail all over the floor, some of their clothes are covert in said liquid, and some body parts are twitching.

"Hey! Can you hear me."

Getting next to them, they response with a punch and a kick, the huntsman is capable of stopping both with ease.

"Easy there, buddies, everything is going to be okey."

They are still conscious, but not entirely there. Reaching for his scroll, the man starts a call.

"Hey, get in here now, I need help."

"Like hell I'm going to enter that forest!"

"Get in here, now!"

"No way man, entering this place alone is suicidal."

"We won't be alone for long, get in here, I need transport."

Deep in the wilderness, a small but by no means harmless group travels thru the forest, the plants getting bigger and ticker by every step taken. The darkness of the place leaves little by little, as they enter the grounds of another larger group, the guards of the entrance stop their move, the leader of the travelers takes out a small wooden totem of a buhoshee, and they let them pass rather quickly, as they were expected. These people walk thru the camp, not paying any attention to the other tribe's members looking at them, they are not the reason of their journey.

After a while, they reach a big tent, with a small group of armed bandits in front of it. One walks and speaks up.

"Welcome, our elders are waiting for you."

The same man (well, "man" is a generous word) escorts them inside with the help of another member of this tribe. Both seem very young, every other member seems at least older than them, but the leader of this small party did notice how the deeper they enter the camp, the younger people seem to get. They probably kept the older and more experience warriors near their walls for protection, and kept the younger ones in a safer area.

How cute.

Almost letting out a small chuckle, she enters alone, following the younglings, the interior of the tent seems a bit fancy, in a tribal sort of way. Skins of dead animals with different drawings adorn the place, some of Grimm, others of people. And then she saw the elders, 8 to be exact, some older than others, all sitting in pairs, the younglings guide her to the middle of the room and then they sit with the elders.

"Good afternoon, thank you for receiving me."

As said before; they are sited in pairs, with some space in between them and the two younglings. For what she understands, they don't have one leader.

They follow each other, I think that's how the other tribes put it.

"Unc máiuses setes."

One of the elders speaks.

"I'm sorry, but my Sanus is a bit rusty."

"She asked for you to take a sit, if you like." One of the younglings translates.

"Thank you, but I prefer to stay in my feet, if that's okey."

They nod and the reunion continues.

"Doctor Hearthman, please report to the main office, Doctor Hearthman, please report to the main office."

Moving my feet to get more comfortable on this wooden chair, I look around the clinic. Well, technically a hospital, but the place is too small to be call as such, I suppose it barely reaches the qualifications. The room I'm in is a small waiting room, for any family members or friends, waiting to know more about their loved one's condition. I'm neither of the two, but I brought them in, so I better see them out, for better or for worse.

"What are you implying! You should be ashamed of yourself!"

"All I'm asking is for your traveling papers!"

The room next to this one is a small office room, with for some reason a lot of noise.

"Sir, please, just let me finish my job and then you can talk with my patient."

Out of the room comes a black skin man, brown short hair, and using vale's standard military uniform, with a few key differences. He's a bit annoyed, puts two fingers on his forehead and tries to calm down. After a few seconds, he acknowledges my presence and walks towards me.

"Hey." He says, clearly tired.

"Hi." I return the greeting.

Him and his team helped us transport the injured to the town of Embrace safely. Before I; jumped into action, so to speak, I made a quick call to the Fort, and ask for help, and they send their nearest squad available. We put those two guys on the wagon, and went directly for the town's hospital, while another squad went to take any evidence off from the battlefield.

"Your friend there is really stubborn."

Referring to the driver, who insisted on getting a checkup once the soldiers started asking questions.

"Well, it's the outer lands, not a lot of people like the bureaucracy of the Kingdoms."

"Yeah, I'm used to it, still annoying, tho."

"Heh." With a chuckle, I take out my flask, give it a quick sip and then offer some to the soldier.

"Maybe later, can I see you're Huntsmen license?"

I take out my scroll and hand it over.

"Qrow Branwen." He reads. "Branwen?"

"Yes."

"As in …?"

"Yep."

Silence settles in the room for some time.

"… hmm, interesting."

Not the worst of reactions.

He keeps reading, making sure everything seems okey.

"Wow, Tenure."

He gives me my scroll back

"Never seen a Huntsmen live long enough to get it."

I put it back in my back pocket.

"Luck, I guess."

"No wonder you have a direct call to the Fort."

More noises come from the other rooms of the hospital. Metallic clicking, carts moving thru the hallways, steps and the conversions of some medics.

"Any news on those two?"

"Internal bleeding, some broken bones, and a big nasty concussion." I take another sip. "Apart form that, they'll survive."

"Good, maybe they can share some light on what happened back there."

"Hmmm, yeah, maybe."

I look up to the ceiling, adjust myself, trying to get as comfortable as possible. I might be here for a while.

"Speaking of sharing light, what did happen back there?"

"… Bandits."

"Yeah, you told us that." The guy waves his hand over my face, until I look back at him. "But you haven't told us what cause such destruction, why was there an armed vehicle, or what happen to all of those … bodies."

I don't answer, just, look down on the floor for a moment.

"Better ask Heather."

He raises an eyebrow.

"It's, well, *sigh* classified." I explain opening my arms, making some kind of gesture, asking for some understanding. Classified, man, I hate that word, even the act of saying it makes me want to barf, too much of a Jimmy move.

*sigh*

Apparently, I'm not the only one who hates the word. As the guy sighs in defeat.

"You know, sometimes it's really hard to argue with people about bureaucracy, when this sort of things happens."

Heh, that almost makes me chuckle.

"Yeah, sorry, budd." I take an envelope from inside my clothes. "Can you give this to Heath- *coff* Captain Shields, it may help you guys."

The night is about to begging, they need to leave now if they want to reach the Fort safely.

"Aren't you coming with us? Captain Shields will like a chat."

"I'll need to see them thru, I'll talk with her later, all you need for now is in that envelope."

"I must insist, if the bandits-."

"Nobody is going attack in the middle of the night."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Tick walls, natural defenses, and good security." Referencing to both the fort and the city. "When a tribe runs from a fight, that shows weakness, a weakness the other tribes may want to exploit, and you'll be surprise of how fast information can run in the outer lands sometimes. Trust me, tonight, we won't be the main target."

"…"

"Unless there's something else?"

"… Classified."

He turns to the door.

"Safe travels, it's still not safe out there in the night."

"I know."

"What was your name again?"

"Robin, Captain Robin Renboga."

"Renboga? As in …?

"Yes."

Falling, falling, or am I flying? I-I don't know.

There's nothing, I can't hear anything, I can't see anything, I-I feel nothing.

I CAN'T FEEL ANYTHING.

Why? What is this? How, what, why are we here?!

We? Who is we? Who am I?

There's more, lights, shadows, forms, some mix, others disappear, others die, others live, new appear, why? Who are they? What is going on?!

Stop.

Please, stop, stop, stop, STOP! STOP!

Please.

More lights, again. One green, one orange. They banish again, my eyes, are those my eyes? Do I even have eyes? They try to to close, please, faster, close, please, I want to, I, I, I, this feeling of nothing.

I just want it to go away.

"Ah!"

Eyes open, heavy breathing, and sweat on my face.

*Pant**pant**pant*

Sating up, I feel something pulling at my arm, turning my head to it, I see a series of tubes connected to my arm. I'm in a bed, connected to some machines, wouldn't be the first time.

"Hey."

Looking across the room, there's another bed. With a blurry vison, I can hardly tell what I'm looking at, after a few seconds the form looks familiar.

"We need to stop finding ourselves in this kind of situations."

I recognize the voice, I don't say anything, just stare, waiting for a confirmation of peace or war. I hear a faint chuckle, and I can finally recognize the form as my current traveling companion.

"Chill, we still have a truce."

I realize I had my arms up in a fighting formation.

He was sitting up, no longer wearing his normal getup, instead, he wore a blue hospital gown. Looking down I saw the same change happened to me.

"Bad dream?"

Looking at him again, I notice a piece of white cloth and bandage over his nose, he was also sweating, and had an oxygen mask on his left hand. Touching my face, I find another oxygen mask, I take it off and look around, ignoring the previous question.

It's a room with 8 beds (only two being use) and medical equipment, a set of double doors, I don't see any sharp or blunt object that can be use.

"You do realize your still have your fists up, right?"

I put them down, realizing that I had an arm cast on my left hand.

"How long?" I start talking.

His gaze tells me he understood my question.

"Don't know, just got up myself, beat you for like a minute or so."

He acts relaxed, but I can see thru his demeanor; the heavy breathing, the sweating, the forced smile. First time I have seen him like this, with his mask broken.

I look at my pip-boy.

"It's 12." The rest of my possessions don't appear to be in the room. "Where-?"

"Embrace."

"What?"

"That's what my map said."

I look at mine, the GPS finally connecting to something, and showing new coordinates and information. Embrace, the name apers in the screen, naming this new location.

We notice movement from the other side of the room.

"Oh!" We turn our heads to see somebody on a blue uniform open the door. "Sorry, didn't meant to scare you."

We Both raised our arms in a defensive position this time. The man tries not to make any sudden moves.

"Humm, Hello." He smiles, and acts kindly toward us. "Please, relax, you're safe now, you're in a hospital in the town of Embrace."

He isn't armed, and his clothing would prevent him from hiding any weapons.

"You were attack." He continues. "By some bandits, in the woods."

Memories of the fight come back to us.

"How did we get here?" I ask.

"Soldiers from Fort Vox brought you here, they found you and helped you."

"Fort Vox?" Asks my companion.

"A military Fort not far from here."

We don't' move and neither does he.

"Again, I'm sorry, I didn't think you would be up now, please, stay calm, there's someone that wanted to talk with you, one of the people that brought you here, I'm sure he can answer more of your questions, just wait."

He leaves and we stare at the door for a while.

"Did-" My companion stops for a moment before continuing his question. "Did that guy had antlers?"

"Wé nāt."

Two of the elders talk at the same time.

"They said; we don't know."

"You don't know the name of the man that camped with you?"

"He didn't pass his time with us." Another elder, much younger, maybe in his forties, talked in the common tongue, as they refer call it "Just near our territory, sometimes he traded with us."

"Trade?"

"Yes."

Hmm, I guess if there's no reason to fight, that makes sense.

"I thought this was, sacred land, for you at least."

"Gea." One of them nods.

"So why did this, intruder, gets to go around as he pleased?"

While I, had to spend days with the other tribes, spend days in these woods tracking them down, trying to get this meeting rolling.

"He got permission."

Permission?

"Just like that?"

Silence, just silence. I'm getting bore, and I swear to the brothers, if they don't give me what I need-.

"Who- who we let inside our land is none of your concern."

One of the younglings talk. I look at him, that's all it takes, he shuts his mouth and looks to the floor. The elder at his side puts her hand of his shoulder and looks at me, our gazes meet.

"I apologies, miss Vernal, he's just a youngling, but He does speak the truth." She spits at me.

Some of the other elders join in the gaze, not a lot just a couple, but enough to make me understand the message.

"I guess he does."

Luckly for them, I have a mission.

"The man you're searching for left a long time ago."

"I was afraid of that." I take out a small totem, from my back pocket, and play a little bit with it. It's a wooden figure of a … buhoshee? I think that's what they are called, completely white and with red lines forming its face. "But I can't leave empty handed."

Not after days trying to get my hands on this little thing. They look at each other, they knew what we are capable of.

"Sé Buho, cnut sum afen."

"The totem, for a name."

"And...?"

"… And he left a couple of things where he camped, you may take them."

That's better.

That's all I need. I give them the thing, carefully throwing it at one of the younglings, who catches it.

"Well, what name can you give me?"

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

"Sir."

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

"Excuse me, sir."

"Wh-what?"

The light of the room blinds me, as a male nurse wakes me from my nap. I stretch out, my eyes adjusting to the light and my brain to the sounds.

"Sir, the men you're waiting for are up."

"Huh?"

My memories coming back to me.

"Oh."

"You may see them now."

"The doctors have already seen them, they are safe and stable, but are confused and want answers."

Following the male nurse thru the hallways of the place, we arrive at a room with a set of double doors. I look thru the window on one of the doors, looking at the duo and they look back at me.

"Thanks, I'll talk with them."

Opening the doors, I take a couple of steps inside.

"Hey." I salute them from the other side of the room. "How are you feeling."

They don't answer.

"They told me the sedatives would worn out by tomorrow, so I didn't really expect to have this talk so soon." I take a couple of steps forward, carefully. "But I guess the doctors did say something about you guys healing quicker than expected."

They gave a quick look to the machine in their arms, as it gave off a noise, like when you get a new notification on your scroll. As quick as they saw it, they turned again at me.

"You gave a good fight back there, I'm sorry I couldn't arrive sooner."

My comment seems to make them think, as their facial expressions change a little.

"You're the guy who helped us."

One of them talks, the one on my right. Has a piece of cloth on his nose, tanned skin, dark green eyes, and black hair.

"Yep, that's me." I take chair from one of the corners of the room, dragging it to the middle and I sit. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm okey." The same guy talks, looking down on some of bandages and overall condition, before turning his gaze at me." Have had it worst."

I see the scar on the left side of his forehead, well, scar and the sunken part of his skull. Seen it before, on other huntsmen, soldiers and outlanders. skull fractions are something you hardly live thru.

"Then, I'm sorry to hear that."

Neither of them talks back, leaving the room on silence for a while.

I turn to the other one, that didn't even answer my question. This one has an arm cast, a series of other bandages, brown short hair, and brown eyes (almost a soft orange). Apart from his resent injuries, I notice some big burn marks on his neck and lower part of his left check.

"Where are we?" He ignores my gaze and goes straight to the point.

"In the town of Embrace."

"We know that part." Said green eyes. "But, where Exactly are we?"

Oh.

"Yeah, sorry, I forgot." I scratch the back of my head. "Not a lot of people know about this place."

Embrace may have been one of the many settlements Vale and Mistral fought for during the war, but after it was over, this once fertile land filled with opportunity, became a hostile one filled with Grimm, bandits, and other dangers. The war and all the battles fought on this soil destroyed most of the natural defenses needed to protect both sides, leaving most of the land to tribes, bandits and outlanders.

Embrace is one of the few outside settlements that survived the war, and although it is still an important place for merchants and the fact that it has one of the smaller supportive towers for the CCT system, it doesn't get a lot of attention from normal people, sometimes not even by Vale or Mistral.

"'We're near the coast."

Their expression tells me they need more than that.

"Near the eastern cost."

Same reaction.

"Of Sanus"

"Near the eastern cost of Sanus." I repeat

"Yeah, we are a bit lost." Said green eyes.

"How lost?"

"Very."

Uhm

"Do you know the City of Rojo?" Brown eyes talks.

"Rojo?"

"City is more of a formality." Green eyes sa- Okey, I'm done with that, I need some names. "A town, in the middle of a desert, sound familiar?"

Desert?

"You guys from Vacuo?"

I mean, to be honest, looking at some of the clothes they had, it kind of resemble Vacuo's stile, but while the tanned guy fits the bill of a desert roamer, the pale skin guy does not.

"Vacuo." The pale guy says, almost like a question

"Yeah, you know, the desertic wasteland of heat?"

"Something like that."

This feels off.

They are not from the Kingdoms? There are outlanders like the tribes that decided to live in the wilderness, away from governments, however, not a lot of those people survive, and they look too young, could they really be outlanders? They, don't look like tribesmen, I can tell.

They stop looking at me, they seem to be thinking. Of what? I can't say, the silence returns this time staying for a longer time.

"Listen, if you don't want to tell me, it's okey, I know a lot of people don't really trust outlanders that much." I get closer with my chair. "I won't be snooping around your business, just wanted to know two things."

They don't turn immediately; they take their time to acknowledge me.

"What things?"

"First; are you really alright?"

I am sincere, I'm worry for their safety, or at least I try to, that's suppose to be my duty after all. They seem taken back by my question.

"I'm … fine."

"Me too."

"Alright, then , comes number two; how did you find Sam?"

Nice.

Yes, nice in deed, thanks.

Rio Skyron
that slapping moment just made me think of that iconic moment in DC comics where Batman slaps Robin and screams GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF! lol

Hahaha, glad you got a laugh out of it, although, Six is somehow still feeling that XD.

This was fun reading, the time it takes for chapters is a downer but one can't rush perfection

Thanks dude, I still want to at least put a chapter out every 1 or 2 months, but sometimes I just can't either works, school or I don't know how to proceed.

I enjoyed the fanfic once things got rolling. Having said that, I don't usually fast-read through things because I like to enjoy reading, but I ended up fast-reading through the first 5 chapters.

I still read them, but new readers can probably just skip them and miss nothing. Hopefully future chapters will feel less filler-y

Loving that the story is actually original instead of just the vanilla story with cardboard cutouts of guest characters standing in the background and not really doing anything. Once 101 and 6 get settled down, I am really curious about the repercusions of introducing gunpowder (and maybe energy cells?) into Remnant, since at least I always bother to learn how to

Yeah, the first chapters were more to get to know Six and 101, I wanted to stablish who they are (make a good character, or at least I try) I love world building, but sometimes I need to stop myself before I write 2 pages of the story of an entire Town.

Luckily, in Remnant, there ARE, already stablish characters and lore, so there's no need for me to explain everything from this world, just let 6 and 101 experience it.

About repercusions, there will be more than a few, but not only about ammo.

the story is good, and I don't mind the common errors in the words thru and tho, they're too long for how much they're used anyways.

Thank for your dedication on this.

Thank you for reading, those words really mean a lot for me, thanks. Yeah, those errors aren't that bad, but then I go and mess the word "message" with "massage" and fix it like 1 week after I upload (I need to get someone to help me with the grammar, I'll ask around with some friends who also speak English).
