In the streets of Tokyo, a man walked down a set of nondescript stairs. At the bottom of this set of stairs, was an average looking door with a card reader next to it.
The man reached into his suit's breast pocket and pulled out a card. The card was red and black, and his name was printed in white at the top left. It read 'Tanashi Komoro'. To the right of his name was an image. An average looking middle aged Japanese man with tired eyes and messy hair.
The man, Tanashi Komoro, flipped the card around. On the back was an ID number and at the bottom was a barcode.
Tanashi inserted the card at the top of the card reader, and slid it down.
A beep rang out, and a mechanical sound could be heard from the doorknob. Tanashi reached towards it and turned it, before pushing open the door.
On the other side was a sterile white hallway with electrical ceiling lights ensuring the place was well lit.
The hallway itself split off at various places, and as Tanashi walked he could see many men wearing lab coats walking about with focused expressions.
Eventually, Tanashi came to an elevator. He pressed the call button and when it arrived, the door opened with a beep.
Walking in, he put a key into a lock, turned it, and selected floor negative eleven.
The elevator began going down, but the ride would be long.
Tanashi began thinking of recent events.
He was a salary man until a year ago, just a common office worker in a pitiful job.
His life up until that point had been dull. In school he was silent and focused, hardly caring for anything but getting passing grades and learning. After high school, he had gone job hunting and found himself working at a local McDonalds. Eventually, he went to college and got some basic education as well as a master's degree.
And so, he had found himself in that office job, working awful hours for pitiful pay with hardly a break. A common fate for most people his age. He worked there for around twenty years.
And then, he got a mysterious letter in the mail. In the first place, a handwritten letter like that was quite unusual, but what was even more odd was that the only people he knew well enough to tell them where he lived were his parents, who lived in a rural town far outside of Tokyo.
And yet, the name on the letter and the return address indicated it was not his parents.
He opened it, and found inside a paper detailing a job that they would be willing to hire him for.
It was a simple job, really. Record data and store it, advise people on experiments, being outside of the box as he was, this was apparently something he would be valuable in, and the last requirement was to be completely silent about all of the data he recorded.
This might sound unusual to people unfamiliar with the inner workings of an office job, but really an NDA was quite typical, most companies did not want data getting out, although you could only handle this sort of data with a lot of experience and trust from the company.
However, there was one more condition. He had to cut ties with every single person he knew. His parents were no exception.
This didn't sound much better than his current job, and he didn't want to cut ties with his parents just for this, but there was one thing that drew him into accepting the offer. The pay was mind shattering. Normally, he made around 160,000 yen per month, or around 1.9 million yen per year, but this job was offering ~4.8 million yen per year.
And so, without thinking much on it, he signed onto the job, and here he was.
A beep sounded out, and the elevator had arrived at the negative eleventh floor.
He walked out of the elevator door and towards his cubicle.
Tanashi made his way through the chattering crowd of scientists between him and his goal.
"Yeah, I heard it just disappeared. Nobody can find it."
"Do you think someone stole it? There is that one organization…"
"But would they really be that bold? And besides, we would definitely know, wouldn't we?"
"Doesn't working here already tell you that there are some things beyond comprehension?"
"I suppose you're right…."
It had been around a week since their project had up and disappeared. Nobody really knew what happened, because nobody was allowed to even look at it. People were still talking about it even now because it was completely unprecedented and baffling.
Finally, Tanashi made it to his cubicle and sat down.
He booted the computer in front of him, and then his chest started burning.
It was a level of pain he had never experienced before.
Tanashi clutched at his chest, and tried to hold his desk to stay upright.
His head was spinning, he felt dizzy and lightheaded.
And then, everything went dark.
He had died completely by chance from a heart attack, alone. He had expected to die alone, and to die by chance. It was something he fully accepted. As someone of little ambition other than to survive, his life felt mostly meaningless.
And so, having such an acceptable, expected death put him to rest quite peacefully.
What he didn't expect was to wake up from his rest.
"Hello."
The man turned around, and saw a young girl standing alone in the void of incomprehensible texture and color. She had silver hair and elvish ears, and was wearing a sort of black wedding dress with yellow accents.
"I would like to converse with you."
Though the situation was a little unfathomable, the man clearly had no choice. Either this was a random goddess or an Earth based one, but regardless his soul was stuck here.
Walking over to her, he faced her.
"Please tell me anything you know about Yogiri Takatou."
Suddenly, his brain jolted.
Even if he had died and his job was no longer important, something like that thing was simply too important to ignore its mention.
"Do you mean AΩ?! Do you have it? Were you the one that took that thing?!"
The man frantically questioned the girl, who remained mostly inexpressive at his flailing.
"Yes. I took him to a different world."
"You mean it's not even on earth anymore? Oh…. Thank you! Thank you so much! You have just saved our entire planet— No, our entire universe!"
The woman began to become a bit confused. She had summoned Yogiri, or AΩ as a last ditch effort to finally die. Her criteria for the summon was just "things that could kill her." The search came up with a few gods and goddesses, but the Od Laguna was heavily against that kind of entity coming here. There was however an entity with a much smaller footprint that also came from the same place as her beloved Subaru did.
The choice here was obvious for her, so she summoned Yogiri and decided to be done with it, even despite Envy's intense protest.
Normally, she could see what the person summoned was doing, but Yogiri somehow was unable to be spectated. So, she was content to merely wait for him to come and kill her.
However, she noticed a number of things after summoning him that tipped her off to the fact that she might have made a mistake. First was the Od Laguna's influence on the world, and by extension its defenses. Flugel had worked hard to make it able to even repel gods, goddesses, and other powerful otherworldly entities.
However, with the Od Laguna dead by some means, the shielding was gone. And then, she felt the presence of a god and goddess in close proximity at nearly the same time quite recently.
This was all suspicious to her. But, she had no proof it was his doing. After all, those events might have just been completely random happenings.
So, she had summoned someone of the category "people that know Yogiri Takatou" and found this man. However, he was now saying that he was glad Yogiri was no longer in his world.
This confirmed her suspicions, he was likely the one that had caused all of those events. That question was done now.
So the question racing in her mind was:
Is it seriously that bad?
She knew it was bad, but killing the Od Laguna is easy enough if you know what you're doing. Even an idiot from the Witch Cult could do it, by accident or on purpose if they could figure out how.
However, she was now wondering if she had invited something to what was practically her world which would bring ruin to it.
"Have I made a grave error?"
"No! Certainly not! In fact, you've saved all of earth!"
"Ah, but what of this world?"
"Why should I care?! Just let me leave already!"
"I cannot do that."
"What?! Why not?!"
"Pulling you here was not tiring, but to send you back would be difficult. Please be patient, if you wish to wake up just say so."
"Wake up? Is this a dream?"
Though the void certainly looked dreamlike, the vividity of the place was unreal.
"In a way. Though, none of what I told you was false, nor am I fake."
"I see. Please wake me up!"
The man blinked and found himself no longer in a void. He was instead in a medieval style town.
It was obviously another world, demi-humans and all.
He had finally been isekaid out of his depressing job. His responsibilities in Japan were gone. He was a free man. He could invent things from Earth or learn magic and become a hero.
The excitement got his heart pounding. He was truly excited for the future for the first time in almost his entire life.
His first action should be to test out the basic systems of the world and his being isekaid.
Looking at a shop sign, he saw he could not read the local language.
He turned to a local to test if he could speak and understand it when―
"Al Goa"
A depressive voice said those words, and the entire area was incinerated, then it blew up, and the man died.
Though Tanashi didn't know it, it was just a combination of vertigo and heartburn that had made him think he was having a heart attack.
"Hey, Beatrice. What happened to Reinhard?"
It had been a day since Yogiri and Beatrice had formed a contract. A contract it may be, it was more like a business transaction, and neither side was particularly familiar.
"Did you forget about him entirely, I wonder? No matter, he is still living in this mansion. Currently, I believe he helps Frederica to clean as a butler.
"Yeah, I keep forgetting he even exists. I guess that's because he doesn't do anything important anymore."
"He can't do anything important because you killed his power, I suppose."
"He seemed pretty grateful for it, so I don't think I did anything wrong. He was being brainwashed anyway."
Beatrice and Yogiri were currently sitting in the Forbidden Library. Though Yogiri was still supposed to be learning the language, Beatrice still didn't do very well teaching it. For example, she sometimes went off on long tangents about random topics like sweets. Despite seeming to be not very sociable she also appeared to enjoy talking to others, even though she was often very cold to others and acted like she hated people.
"That is true, I suppose. Why are you not more careful about who you kill, I wonder?"
"It's not like I can predict the future. I don't really know who is important. If someone important tried to kill me, I would still kill them first in self-defense."
"Even if it was me?"
"Probably."
"You really need to learn when to be quiet, I suppose."
"Your highness, I have new information from various sources. It appears that divine protections no longer function at all. I cannot pretend to understand what would cause this, but as I understand it, The Sword Saint is now powerless."
"Ah, well. I suppose divine protections were useless for the likes of us anyway. We are truly strong, unlike those stuck up Lugnicans who cling to their dragon and their divine protections."
Within the throne room of the Holy King of Gusteko, a general reported to his king with information he had obtained recently.
"Indeed, your highness. I have also learned that the capital of Lugnica is now mostly destroyed. According to sources planted there, it is now a massive square hole in the ground. Apparently, this has caused numerous crime sprees and riots. Demi-humans are even setting up territories they claim to be nations in and around the capital."
All of this information was a sign of one thing: Lugnica was completely defenseless. Its government was gone, Reinhard was powerless, and their army, which had been stationed close to the castle, was completely gone.
"So for all intents and purposes, Lugnica is destroyed? Then I suppose it is ours for the taking, no?"
"Yes, your highness. Do you wish for me to send for the armies to prepare? We should meet little resistance, although the land of Margrave Mathers may prove to be a challenge. He is said to be the most powerful mage in all of Lugnica, and has been known to hire exceptionally strong bodyguards and maids."
"We will have no trouble. Their territory has been reported to house no more than sixty-three occupants, of which only four can fight. We have two million soldiers on standby right now, and another one million waiting for deployment. Not to mention, the blessing of Odglass and the minor spirits."
"Then I will see to it, your highness."
The reporting general stood up, and left the throne room.
After the announcement of the war, it was expected by most of the military and royalty that Lugnica would be theirs in a year.
Unbeknown to the nation of Gusteko, Vollachia was also moving to attack Lugnica.
The Emperor, or the Divine Generals, really, had been informed of the very same things that were known to Gusteko, although information about Roswaal was mostly useless to them, so it was an exception.
As such, the armies of Vollachia were marching toward the north, into Lugnica, at this very moment. The Divine Generals were no exception, having sent Mogro Hagane, Cecilus Segmunt, and Arakiya.
However―
"Waaagh!"
Explosion after explosion pounded the earth, as Vollachian soldiers were massacred by a flying mage. Of course, this was no ordinary mage, but Roswaal L. Mathers.
Roswaal had been thoroughly destroying Flanders when he noticed an approaching army to the south, which he decided would be a good target.
Although previously the well armored knights had been in a perfect synchronized formation, the attacks on them had scattered them somewhat, making it hard to properly annihilate all of them efficiently.
Striving for perfection, Roswaal had tried his hardest to aim his shots in such a way that it surrounded a group with fire, which he then closed in on and killed.
So far, Roswaal estimated he had killed a few thousand soldiers. However, an obviously powerful enemy in blue was rapidly approaching, so he let off and retreated north-east, flying at his maximum speed.
"Ah, he's running away. How could he see someone like me and just ignore it? I'll chase him anyway, since he seemed to be strong."
Cecilus had intended to kill the man right there, but since he was running away he would have to give chase. Even with the insane speeds Roswaal was going, it was no big deal for Cecilus to match or even surpass it.
It had been around three days since the initial return of Yogiri, Echidna, and Otto, and all was going well. Preparations to leave for the watchtower were smoothly progressing, and everything would likely be done early, the next day at best.
Yogiri was sitting on his bed, reading a book he had borrowed from Beatrice that was about a mad prince. The days so far had been peaceful and boring, but the history book was of some interest to Yogiri, and he was a bit engrossed in the story of the mad prince.
Suddenly, a rumbling was heard and vibrations were felt. And then, a large explosion sounded out from the back of the mansion.
Various decorations fell to the ground from their places, and his chair moved around slightly.
Yogiri closed his book, and got up to check what was happening. As he walked the halls, more and more explosions seemed to hit the roof and back of the mansion. Eventually, Yogiri noticed a large shadow covering much of the hallway.
He decided to simply walk out of the way of the shadow, and just as he reached the other side of it the area behind him was completely annihilated by a ball of fire.
Yogiri's current objective was to investigate the source of the attacks and see if there was a reason for them, and if he could stop them without killing anyone.
As he walked through the halls, down the stairs, towards the front door, various shadows would appear, and he would walk out of the way before seeing the area the shadow was in being annihilated.
When he reached the front door, he saw Reinhard, who was now wearing a butler outfit that looked incredible on him, Echidna, Frederica, and Otto standing near the door.
"Ah! Mister Takatou! Please help! The mansion is being destroyed!"
"I know. I'm going outside to talk to the people attacking us. I don't want to kill anyone without knowing why they're attacking us in the first place. They might have a good reason."
"Are you insane?!"
Otto cried out.
"They're using fire magic to blow up our house, and you want to go and say 'hi'?!"
Echidna spoke up,
"Regardless of what happens, it seems likely you'll survive. We should get going now."
The group decided on moving. They all walked towards the back door and outside.
There was a large flat area behind the mansion that was also a sort of yard, and on the other side of it quite far away was a group of what looked to be soldiers.
The group approached, and one soldier lifted up their hand.
"El Go―"
Suddenly, the man fell to the ground. The people next to him, who had their attention grabbed by the death of their comrade, looked at the approaching group.
"Everyone, fire!"
Collectively, the group of soldiers held up their hands and began chanting.
"Al Go―"
And then, all of them fell to the ground. The sounds of their bodies hitting the ground at nearly the same time, almost like a synchronized march an army unit would do, was quite loud, and it alerted a group of melee infantrymen that had been stationed behind the magic users.
Suddenly, a female voice sounded out from behind the now dead group of mages.
"Spearmen, forward!"
A large line of men holding long spears began walking forward in a line towards the group.
"Do they not realize what's happened yet? This is a curious situation, it's as though anyone that sees your power merely forgets reality."
"I believe Mister Takatou's power is so difficult to reason as something that exists, that many who see it simply give up."
"Would you guys stop arguing psychology?! There are a group of soldiers approaching! Why are you all so calm?!"
Otto, having only recently been introduced to Yogiri, was not very prepared for this sort of thing.
"Spearmen, halt!"
The female voice sounded out again, and the group of spearmen stopped and stomped their feet on the ground.
Slowly and calmly, a woman walked through the line of spearmen, who moved out of the way for her.
It was a woman with black hair and red eyes. Her hair was styled in a ponytail, and she was wearing very expensive looking medieval armor.
"I will give you a single minute to explain what you did to our soldiers and who you are before a thousand infantrymen run you down and chop you to bits. Go!"
"I'm Yogiri Takatou. My ability is instant death. Basically, anything I want to die, dies. This is Reinhard van Astrea, he's a butler. This girl is Echidna, the Witch of Greed, and that guy is Otto Suwen, a merchant. That's Frederica Baumann. She's a maid."
"I don't believe a word of what you just said. 3rd battalion, charge!"
Throwing her arms forward, she called for the army to charge. She walked back through the line of spearmen who were walking somewhat quickly towards Yogiri and his group.
As a few of the spearmen got close, they started tripping and falling to the ground, completely dead.
"If you cross that line you die instantly. I used the ancient yin spell 'Al Deathline'."
"Al Deathline? Really?"
Echidna was quick to point out how terrible of a lie that was.
"As if we'd believe you, dumbass!"
As row upon row of infantrymen crossed the line, their lives were simultaneously snuffed out and they collapsed to the ground.
"Huh?! Why're you all fallin' asleep?!"
A soldier shook one of the bodies, and eventually turned it over, only to find that it was completely lifeless.
"W-What?! This is i-impossible!"
The man fell backwards, and tried to get up and flee, but ended up tripping on another corpse. The entire army was now in disarray.
Suddenly, Yogiri saw shadows cover most of the area he was standing in.
Without bothering to explain, he pulled his crew forward.
As the group landed on the ground, a barrage of arrows hit in the area they had been standing.
"Eh? Mister Takatou, you can predict the future?!"
"No. I can see danger as shadows. The darker the shadow, the higher the likelihood I'll be hit."
"Isn't that kind of invincible?!"
Suddenly, yelling was heard.
The group looked up to see a horde of likely around twenty thousand soldiers charging towards them.
Yogiri was exasperated by their persistence and ignorance.
He would prefer if people would just stop trying to attack him. He did not enjoy killing, at all.
"Die."
About half of each line died instantly. Yogiri had been hoping that this would encourage the other soldiers to flee, but it did the opposite. Most of them sped up hoping to try and dodge whatever Yogiri was doing.
"This is going nowhere, I truly fail to comprehend how people can be so irrational at the mere sight of something like this."
Echidna had thought it was quite obvious what would happen if the army continued charging.
"Die."
Suddenly, the other half of the lines of soldiers also fell to the ground.
The field quieted down, and left in it were the corpses of around twenty-five thousand soldiers.
"This will be quite difficult to clean, I imagine."
Frederica lamented her current situation. Twenty-five thousand corpses was not an easy thing to clean up.
In a camp further back from the front line of the war on Lugnica, a female military general ran as fast as she could to the commander's tent.
She had just gotten back from the front at the Mathers mansion, and saw her entire army get slaughtered in what was nearly an instant.
Finally finding the commander's tent in the sea of tents that was the massive military camp, she ran in through the curtained entrance.
The commander immediately snapped his gaze to her, and furrowed his brows
"What is the meaning of this?!"
"Sir! The entire scout army sent to the Mathers mansion has died! There was a single boy among the Mathers mansion residents that would simply command people to die!"
His face seemed to calm down after hearing this.
"I see. I will report this to the higher ups. Dismissed."
In a cell far under the castle, a mad Prince sat against a wall. He was not paying any particular attention to the world, until he caught a conversation among the prison guards that piqued his interest.
"They say an entire battalion of twenty-five thousand were killed so fast nobody could even see it. Apparently, a single boy would simply say 'die' and then an entire group of a thousand would immediately be cut down."
To the Mad Prince, strong people like the one being talked about were of great interest.
Since he had been born, the Mad Prince had two abnormal powers. The first was that he was capable of killing people with just a thought. As long as he wanted someone to die, they would die. The second was that his physical strength was incomprehensible. It was widely regarded as being possible that he would be stronger than Reinhard himself in a fist fight using raw strength.
This all sounded great, and to the Mad Prince it truly was. Nothing was funnier than killing someone instantly after they tried to start a chivalrous duel, or blowing someone to bits with a single punch when they were in the middle of talking. It was hilarious to him.
So, he got up and walked to the bars of his cell.
"You guys need any help guarding?!"
He pushed slightly, and the entire cell door and the bars came out of the wall and fell forward.
He walked out, and looked at the two guards standing in his way.
"Die."
The two guards instantly collapsed, and fell to the ground with a resounding thud which echoed throughout the dungeon.
"I see, my handsomeness made you all fall to the ground, did it?! Gaahahahaha!"
Back at the mansion, Yogiri and co. were currently inside, wondering what to do. It had been about a day since the initial attack, and everyone was restless.
"Are we even going to be able to repair this?!"
Otto dreaded knowing the costs of repairs to this place at this point.
"I believe I could repair it, but it would take much time and cost quite a bit of money. I imagine something like fourteen thousand holy coins being the cost of repairs."
Frederica had merely estimated, but felt it was about right for the damages caused.
"F-fourteen thousand…"
"Should we not be leaving? It is likely another attack will come soon."
"I wish we could, but there's a bunch of fire and craters blocking the road out of the mansion!"
Otto had inspected some of the damages to the mansion and found that it was impossible to leave right now, as there were magma pools inside massive craters which lined the road that led to Arlem.
"I think we should just wait here. Maybe they realized what was going on and aren't going to send another unit."
Suddenly, the front door to the mansion exploded.
"Hello, helloooo~! I am looking for a young boy with the power to fell entire armies!"
An eccentric looking man barged in.
He was quite overweight, sporting a face that could be called piglike, and was wearing an almost cartoonish royal cloak and crown. His hair was black and short, he looked like a stereotypical heartless pig king from an anime.
"Oh my, which one is it?! There are two young boys here, I wonder which one of you two is cuter?! Nevermind that, you there, with the black hair, you are not the one, I believe you are not at all!"
The piggy king continued.
"I am Yonos Yagos, but most call me the Mad Prince of Gusteko! Pleasure to meet your acquaintance, or as John would say, .T.O.M.E.Y.O.A.C. remember this?"
After saying this, the mad prince let out a piggish snort-laugh.
"Now then, my ability is instant death! Anyone I think should die, dies! So forth, I will prove it to you. I'm quite sure you don't believe me! So, you with the black hair."
Suddenly, he stopped smiling and his face turned serious.
"Die."
The mad prince commanded Yogiri Takatou to die. And then, he fell to the ground. Yogiri had somehow not died, but rather the mad prince had instead.
"Is your power truly that unfair?!"
"I cannot say that was the unexpected result, but it is interesting to think about how that might work. I presume it is something like Yogiri simply killing the man before anything happens by sending the information about the threat backwards in time."
Suddenly, a great rumbling was felt, and the earth shook.
"Eh?! Again!?"
The group ran outside the back door, and was met with what looked to be nearly five hundred thousand soldiers, and a number of what looked to be military generals riding bears in the front.
"Surrender at once, or we shall have our entire army run you down! We have our strongest soldiers among us!"
"Just leave. If you don't, your entire army will die, seriously."
"Left flank, charge!"
The left flank of the army charged towards the group―
"Die."
And all fell to the ground, skidding forward.
"W-Wha?! All units, charge! Kill that boy now!"
The entire remaining three hundred thousand soldiers charged towards Yogiri, determined to kill him.
Suddenly, however, anyone that passed over a certain spot died instantly.
"Al Deathline."
Yogiri called out the spell name for dramatic effect.
"I-Impossible!"
The remaining parts of the army, seeing that this was impossible, fled.
"What are you fools doing?! This mansion is a priority target! Get back here and fight!"
"No, sir! We will attack anywhere else but here!"
"Damnable fools. I suppose it will be us five versus you, boy."
The only people left were five general-looking people.
"You should probably leave like they did. You'll seriously die if you attack me."
Yogiri had explained this far too many times today. It was tiring.
"Now, die!"
The commanders charged towards Yogiri.
"Die."
Suddenly, the commanders and their bears all collapsed to the ground at once, skidding forward and halting right in front of Yogiri and the others.
"Man, I'm tired."
Yogiri yawned, as he turned around and walked back into the mansion.
"One, two! One, two! One, two!"
A five hundred thousand man strong army marched in formation towards the Mathers mansion.
They were headed there to kill only a few people, but this was not even remotely overkill.
The entire army had indeed heard a man had killed hundreds of thousands soldiers single handedly and with little effort. But this time, they were taking a different approach. On another flank were five hundred thousand other soldiers. The plan was to have one group attack directly without stopping from behind the mansion, while another attacked from the mansion's left through the forest and tried to take them by surprise. The overwhelming numbers and difficult fighting terrain would make the battle much more difficult for the mansion residents, and with the mages and spirit users they had with them, they could also destroy the mansion with heavy magic fire.
Eventually, the group marched past the massive back yard and towards the mansion's back entrance. They would be entering through every door, window, or other opening they could to try and spread out as much as possible. The hope was that by not clumping together they would be harder to kill.
The flankers would do the same, however―
"W-Wha—AAAAGH!"
The left flank had encountered two curious enemies and an entire army behind them.
The first was a bronze looking metal man that had green jewel-like joints. The metal man did not talk, and anyone that tried to attack him was unsuccessful in breaking through his armor. The thing would simply swing its arms and remove the upper halves of entire groups of people.
The other was a darker skinned demi-human woman with a black and pink eyepatch, a black and pink bikini, and white and black hair which had red highlights.
Spirit users that tried to fight her ended up skewered by her without even being able to use magic. It was like the spirits were being killed by her.
The reality was, she was eating those spirits.
She would throw out magic of different elements towards her enemies, with the element she chose being seemingly random.
Behind them was a very organized looking group of perfectly covered armored men. They seemed to number a few thousand, but their equipment and strength was no joke.
There were also a number of well equipped mages among them. The armored men marched in perfect unison, with the mages following behind.
Suddenly, the mages stopped, and began reciting incantations.
The demi-human woman, Arakiya of the Divine Generals, ripped through the gusteko flankers with ease using wind, fire, and earth magic. And the metal man, Mogro Hagane also of the Divine Generals, ripped apart man after man with its bare hands by spinning with its arms out.
And then, the fire spells landed.
In this initial attack, much of the left wing of the mansion and at least three hundred thousand gustekans were killed. And then, the fighting continued. Spell after spell was hurled, sword after sword cut through man, and man after man was ripped apart.
The army that had filtered through the back met a different fate. Many of them saw the commotion with the flank and filtered through the front door to fight the Vollachian attackers from behind, but others continued to search the mansion for Yogiri. Of course, as they did, they subsequently died.
The area around the mansion was now essentially filled with craters. There was no usable land anywhere nearby, and half of the mansion was entirely destroyed. Beatrice had still not come out, deeming it pointless, but Yogiri went into her room anyway.
"You should leave. The mansion is going to be destroyed and you'll die if you don't."
Beatrice looked at Yogiri with a blank expression.
"As if I care. Hmph."
She was glad he cared about her, but she would be more content to die than to continue living.
"You're my contracted spirit, so don't you have to come with me?"
Her solid defense was broken like this. Her will to die was also weakened, and her excuse to stay and finally have her life ended was gone.
"Fine, I suppose. But you will have to treat me with the finest sweets you can find!"
Beatrice decided she could wait a bit longer before dying.
As the group walked out of Beatrice's library, a rumbling was felt. Not the same kind as the marching of the armies, but more like an earthquake.
And then, the mansion disappeared.
The ground began to crack all around the soldiers that were still fighting, and then a massive explosion erupted from the ground.
This explosion not only destroyed the ground, revealing a massive hole which many soldiers fell into, but it also sent shrapnel and rocks hurling, which killed many other soldiers.
In the end, Arakiya, Hagane, and a bit of the Vollachian army survived, but everyone else had died either from the explosion, the other army, or Yogiri Takatou.
The mansion had disappeared, but not by being destroyed.
Instead, it had somehow been teleported. It had ended up somewhere near a road in a grassy field. In the distance was a desert that looked to be made up of sand dunes.
"Ah? A teleportation? But this is quite a distance, I wonder if there was someone else involved?
Echidna was curious about the circumstances of the teleportation. It was possible a very powerful person had interfered, and why they had was all the more interesting.
"Eh? Where are we? Mister Takatou, where might we be right now?"
"I see sand dunes over there, so I think we're near the Augria Sand Dunes"
Yogiri answered Otto's question, but he himself was wondering about what just happened.
Reinhard and Frederica were too busy sweeping to care much, though.
"Ah, hello. You all seem sufficiently confused. My name is Loper."
Everyone turned to the source of the voice. It was a man who looked like he was in his twenties. He had black and white hair, with each side of his head being a different color, and wore what looked like purple and white eighteenth century french aristocrat clothes. On his hip was what looked like a rapier with a hilt that bent in shapes so complex they were difficult to comprehend.
"Allow me to explain what happened. I teleported you and this mansion away from the nasty mess over there. The reason is quite simple you see,"
Ever since Loper had been born as a god, he had been completely bored with combat. Combat against other gods was mostly just grandstanding and erasing stuff, and combat against humans ended all too quickly.
But the circumstances of the deaths of the people in this world in particular intrigued him.
It seemed even godlike entities were no match for whatever was killing things in such a way that they merely ceased living, but when he found the massive battleground, it was quite easy to tell who was doing it. It was the guy saying "die" and making scores of men die instantly.
Of course, it was likely this was to show off. Yogiri was probably using something like insane speed, precision, and strength combined to kill people in such a way that it seemed like they merely ceased to be instantly.
This was deeply impressive, and that it would work on a god was doubly so.
Therefore, being one of the strongest gods, Loper had decided to fight his immensely powerful being.
"And thus, here I am. I want to fight you, but only where nobody can interfere, that is why I brought you here. So, I will be fighting you now. Please prepare, I will attack… Now!"
Loper immediately collapsed to the ground.
"He seemed quite interesting, though his monologue was quite tiresome."
Echidna sighed.
"I had completely thought he had brought us here to help us, but again it was just someone for Yogiri to kill!"
Otto had seen far too many people die by Yogiris hands today, and it had made him far too desensitized.
"Eh?! A god? And you killed him instantly?! Why must you continue to be so incomprehensible, I wonder?!"
Beatrice had also come along and seen a god be felled by Yogiri's hands. Having not gone outside so much, her only knowledge of his exploits was from words, so seeing it first hand did a number on her psyche.
"Though you were not there to witness it, he killed another god in the sanctuary."
"I really must wonder why you insisted on having this monster make a contract with me, mother!"
"There, there."
Yogiri began stroking her head.
"When did I give you permission to touch me, I wonder?! Get your hands off of me, and stop treating me like a child!"
Beatrice reached for his hands and 'tried' to push them off, but in truth she quite enjoyed the feeling, even if it messed up her hair.
"Frederica, is the carriage ready?"
"I would think it would be quite thoroughly destroyed, but allow me to check."
Frederica exited what was left of the mansion's structure, just a few walls and rooms with missing ceilings or walls.
However, to her surprise, the carriage and supplies were perfectly intact, as was the ground dragon.
"Now this is truly incomprehensible."
She walked back into the mansion.
"Mister Takatou, the carriage and supplies are safe. We may leave immediately for the sage's tower."
"Okay. Let's go."
Yogiri reached down from Beatrice's head to grab her hand.
"I always wondered what it was like to have a little sister."
Beatrice was furiously blushing. He treated her not only as a child but as a little sister too. It was too much for her to handle.
"Just why do you insist on doing such things, I wonder?!"
Beatrice, Reinhard, Frederica, Otto, Echidna, and Yogiri all got on the carriage.
"Reinhard and Frederica are coming too?"
Yogiri had thought they would stay behind.
"Would you prefer they stay behind and sweep a mansion that is barely standing?"
As Echidna said this, a section of the mansion collapsed, sending dust and debris flying everywhere.
"We have more than enough supplies as it is. I packed enough to keep us fed for a multiple day long trip, but it will likely only take us a small number of hours to arrive at Mirula."
"Mirula?"
"It is the nearest city to the sages watchtower, located in the Augria Sand Dunes."
And so, their journey to the Augria Sand Dunes began, not without some difficulty.
I tried a different method for writing this, but I'm not sure I did it right, and in the first place I don't think this chapter was all that good, especially compared to the last one. I still don't have a beta reader. I messaged that one guy that mentioned wanting to beta read, but got no response yet. So, sorry if there were mistakes this chapter. If you spot any, please let me know. In general, please criticize my story (in a way that makes sense) so I can know what I'm doing wrong.
Responses time!

Well, that escalated, again. Was definitely an interesting twist with Emilia.
Echidna proving so far that she's the smartest Witch around.
Are Deluge and Ragatha OC's? Though they might be from Instant Death, just no google results.
Deluge and Ragatha are indeed OC's. I don't really want to include any actual Instant Death characters aside from Yogiri and the people on earth, since the other world is so far removed from this one. Thank you for (I believe this was a compliment) complimenting the twist with Emilia. I had been thinking about making her lean into that insanity for a while, but that last chapter seemed like the perfect time to have her break. Echidna is indeed smart. Although, for something to which logic doesn't apply, countermeasures like memory erasure are sort of useless, right?

I'll repeat it, it's genius. This is the exact opposite of the original, where Subaru has a messiah complex, that let himself be killed but here? The MC is anything but that, you try to kill him and he'll kill you. And unlike the side stories, there is no such a thing as second chance
Thank you, and I did intend for that sort of contrast with the main storyline to exist. In general, I dislike how forgiving Subaru is, but I understand why he is like that and that it is important to his character, so I won't say I dislike Re:Zero a little because of that. I generally like the type of story presented in Overlord and Instant Death, so I'm trying to do something similar here.
Responses over!
Thank you for reading, and again, peace!
