"You saw everything..." Ash said a little scared... what if this guy had seen him use his powers?! Ash sure as heck remembered using them

He nodded, but made no move to call the police or anything, instead he kept looking at the teenager with a slight look of awe "You're… not scared of me, or what I can do?" the raven-haired teen asked shocked when the older male shook his head

"Why should I be? You defended yourself, didn't you? They also look to all be breathing, so you haven't killed anyone either... Besides I know what you're going through" he said, as disbelief appeared on Ash's face

"How could you know what I'm going through? I have powers you can't even begin to understand... I don't understand them" Ash glumly said and ran a hand through his raven hair

"That's where you're wrong. We aren't much different; you and me. In fact, we have the same abilities" he revealed in a soft tone. Holding out his hand slightly, a familiar blue sphere appeared

Ash looked quite surprised. It looked like the one he remembered from the janitor closet incident at school and also what he had just used a while ago! He slowly and hesitantly looked down at his own hands... wondering if he could actually achieve that level of control or not

"I know you're scared and can't control your abilities, but if you'll let me, I can help you learn to better understand your powers" he said, the blue sphere dissipating as he held out a hand towards the teenager

Ash knew whatever he chooses would be an important decision in his life and would affect his future either for the better or worst

2 weeks later

Ash stood silently in a room with his eyes closed in deep concentration. He breathed in deeply and slowly held out his hands in front of him. He tuned out the entire outside world and focused on the task presented to him. Ever so slowly a small blue sphere appeared in between both hands, Ash although wanting to celebrate, knew better than to risk losing focus

"You seem to be improving" a male voice said coming up behind Ash, who slowly opened his eyes and extinguished the sphere "2 weeks and you seem to have much better control then when we first started"

"If it wasn't for you, I would never have gotten better at controlling my abilities" Ash said with a happy yet tired tone. Since having accepted the offer that day, Ash had become Riley's student

Seeing this as good a time, Ash decided to ask a question that has been on his mind for quite a while now "Hey Riley?" he asked as that got the attention of the young adult "What exactly are our powers anyway? You mentioned that we have the same abilities... but never really explained them"

Riley was silent for quite a while until he motioned for the teenager to follow him. Ash quietly followed his mentor as he noticed that Riley was leading him towards the living room. Riley made his way towards the bookshelf as he trailed his finger, looking for the book he wanted

Finding what he was looking for, Riley grabbed hold of the book and placed it on the table "When I first discovered my abilities, I too was curious about what they were exactly. I spent a lot of time researching all the possibilities, until I found the answer I was looking for" he said turning the book around so Ash could see it better

Ash looked at the book curiously, turning to one of the pages "Our powers are called aura" Riley revealed with Ash looking confused. Never had the teen ever heard the term before

"Aura?" he asked with a slight head tilt

"Yes aura. You see it's described as the living essence inside every living creature" Riley answered with Ash staring in awe at what aura was

"Whoa… so kind of like our souls?" Ash asked and Riley seemed to be thinking it over

"Yes, I suppose you could say that. According to this, long ago there were humans who could sense and control aura like us. They were called aura users and the most famous one recorded is this one" he said as he turned the page to show Ash the most famous aura user, Sir Aaron

"He also had powers like us?" Ash asked shocked that there was once someone else who had abilities like him and Riley

The older aura user nodded "Yes. It was a long time ago. No one knows the exact date, but I would say somewhere around the old wars. Another reason why you've never heard of aura is because they aren't any anymore. People with the ability to use aura nowadays are rare. I thought I was the last one, so you can imagine my surprise when I met you"

Looking at the book still Ash asked "So, we really are the only ones left to have this ability?"

"I'm not so sure Ash. I wish I could give you an actual answer, but the truth is that I don't know. We'll have to be careful either way. Like I said aura is now rare and should anyone learn about our powers or worst should there be any dark aura users around, they'll stop at nothing to get their hands on you..." Riley said trailing of at the end as he saw the scared expression on Ash's face

"What are dark aura users... are they like us, but an evil version?" Ash hesitantly asked. It would make sense if they were, after all where this is good, there is always evil lurking around

"Dark aura users are something we'll get into on a later date" Riley said, not wanting the teen worry, plus there hasn't been any activity of dark aura users since the olden days "You seem to be doing better with aura manipulation, though you still struggle at times. You also mentioned being able to see and sense aura, correct?" Riley asked

Snapping out of his thoughts, Ash nodded "Yes, but it mostly happened on its own. I was able to use it once or twice on my own"

"You should be careful when sensing and seeing aura around others Ash" Riley warned as the young aura user remember about how Riley said that there was a chance his eyes would have a blue glow when using said abilities

"Have you noticed anything else? Maybe heighten abilities like speed, endurance or strength?"

"I think my strength has gotten stronger. I mean I sure a heck wasn't able to shatter a basketball net or break a brick before all this" Ash responded

"Hmm so you have the basic abilities. There is a chance that as you grow, your powers will as well. Aura has many capabilities, so be prepared since most of the times powers appear out of no where"

"Wish I had known that before" Ash said with a sigh

Riley gave him a small smile "Don't you see enough movies or read books to know how people with powers find out about them" at this Ash didn't comment, but Riley could see that Ash was trying not to blush in embarrassment

Looking at the clock Riley turned back to Ash "Come on, time for you to do your homework or else your mother will get mad at us again" he said moving towards the kitchen

Ash groaned and fell onto the couch in defeat. Sometimes he forgets about the cover story Riley had given his mother so she wouldn't suspect anything... also he kinda needed a tutor too

Just as Ash was about to leave and get his stuff, the book Riley had shown him was knocked over "Hope this didn't get ruined" he mumbled picking the book up, but the page grabbed his attention "While anything to do with aura is now considered a myth, there has been rumors of an old legend surrounding the secret apprentice known as Riolu"

"Riolu..." Ash whispered about to flip the page to read more, except Riley called him to get a move on. Snapping out of his thoughts, Ash grabbed his backpack and moved towards the kitchen... but the name kept repeating in his head

Here it is, the sequel to 'The Aura Awakens'! First chapter and we get a time jump from where we last left off. Although I didn't show what happened in those two weeks, it was basically Ash learning the basics and at this point in the story he has better control then the beginning. Also some backstory on aura is included here, if you got any ideas let me know. Till next time people ;)
