Che-low once more my ever lovely peeps!
So, like how Leo and Ruby got some inner POV from the last chapter, we will be taking a look into a couple of more POV's before we get this show on the road and i'll tell you, this one is going to be a long chapter. Mostly informative and cutting to the present a bit. Anyway, got a bit of bad news, one that has given a sudden abundance of free time.
I've got COVID 19.
Yep, despite my best efforts, it got to me but make no mistake, i don't plan on dying anytime so. After finding this out yesterday i decide to move forward with this story. A fight scene will happen next chapter and by the end of it, BB will have made her move and will be showing people her master's past.
Now, while the past viewing will be starting with Singularity F, it will mostly focus on Xero's own personal struggle, the up's and downs of being a master and just showing enough of the Servants power to make everyone realize "Oh shit, fucking with this guy, is a terrible idea." Most of the Grand Order will be shrouded in mystery and only showing a few things here and there. Along with showing some of the Servants Interlude's like Isthar's, Tamamo Cat's and even Semiramis.
However if you have read my other story,"The Stark Of Legend" you will known that BB will be showing the three trails Xero had gone through during his time in the Grand Order aka the three:
The Dark Pictures Anthology three games, Man Of Medan, Little Hope and the up coming game House Of Ashes.
Now personally, i believe the confirmed REAL monsters in the game, are "The Descent's" Crawlers. Mutated humans that survived under ground by feasting on meat and have lost all traces of their humanity. I really, really hope that is the case and if it isn't, well in this story, that is what i'm going with as it makes sense to me. So as always i don't own nothing.
So please read, review and "What the fuc-BOOM"
Chapter 4: FALL HYDRA
One Week Earlier
Location: Solitas
Kingdom Of Atlas, Atlas Academy
"S-sir, this is...it's a lot to take in."
Atlas, the kingdom of human innovation and the leader in technological advancements throughout Remnant. While yes, originally it was called Mantle, a time before the great war and during the time when the kingdoms were first created.
Early settlers came to the icy continent of Solitas in order to begin a new civilization. Its harsh climates and great mountain ranges helped to suppress the threat of the Grimm, but it also proved difficult for the population to grow. Humanity adapted, however, by using Dust in tandem with advanced technology, developed out of necessity and at faster progression than the rest of the world, creating what came to be known then as the Kingdom of Mantle. Their advancements in Dust application allowed Mantle to expand and devote more territory to mining and research, including the area beside the Kingdom's combat school, Alas Academy.
Like Vale and Mistral, it was at first difficult for them to settle. Not only due to the near constant winter, freezing temperature with the harsh environment, where's one mistake could lead to certain death. Even the Grimm themselves found it difficult to deal with the weather and it actually HELPED the settlers deal with the Grimm. As a result, because of these hardships, it allowed the people of Mantle to grow strong but humble.
However, eighty years ago a ten year conflict known as the Great War broke out between kingdoms.
In this war, Mantle and Mistral fought Vale and Vacuo. Prior to the war, Mantle formed an alliance with Mistral. The two traded frequently, and Mantle taught Mistral how to form settlements in the snowy northern region of Anima.
After an incident with the Grimm, Mantle came to the conclusion that, if it controlled its citizens' emotions through the abolishment of the arts and self-expression, it would become safer from Grimm. Rather than lose the alliance, Mistral did the same, to an extent. This added to the list of things Vale disliked about Mantle and Mistral, among which was the treatment of their own citizens, their use of slavery and their insistence that their way of life was what was best for everyone.
As one could expect, it only made things even worse as a result, nearly causing civil war to break out. But not before the leaders of Mistral attempted to push their views onto others.
Eventually, Mistral entered a conflict with Vale, after a riot between settlers from the two devolved into the first battle of the Great War. Mantle rushed to their ally's aid, and together, they fought Vale on both Sanus and Anima soil. Having established a presence in Vacuo, the two allied Kingdoms were able to keep Vacuo out of the conflict, and some time into the war, they began pressuring the desert Kingdom to join the war on their side. Fearing that they would conquer Vacuo, should Vale fall, the citizens of Vacuo pushed Mantle and Mistral out of their territory and allied themselves with Vale.
Grimm attacks increased worldwide and as a result, Mantle lost many of its settlements to the creatures, some of which were never reclaimed.
During the war, Mantle accelerated the pace of its technological innovation, developing new weapons and applications of Dust, giving them an edge during the conflict. Large tracts of land were set aside for Dust mining and research. The Kingdom was also home to at least one combat school, Alsius, located to the northeast of the main settlement. The territory surrounding Alsius was used as a research and development facility during the war.
The Great War finally came to an end with the deadliest battle in the war's history. Mantle and Mistral attempted to take Vacuo's Dust mines to cut off their enemy's supply. There, they were met with the King of Vale personally leading his army alongside Vacuo. It is said that he laid waste to countless men, but historians claim that this feat was aided by the unusually violent weather and Mantle's inexperience in desert combat.
With the war over, the leaders of the four Kingdoms gathered on neutral ground on Vytal to form a treaty and plan the future of Remnant. There, the four Kingdoms' governments were restructured, their territories were redistributed, slavery was abolished, the tradition of the Vytal Festival was begun and the King of Vale founded the four Huntsman Academies.
Determined to start anew, leaving their dreadful past behind, Mantle had created an entirely new city altogether in the wake of their defeat by the king of Vale. Thus, the floating city of Atlas was born and it became the leader of advancement in the world of Remnant. Now, you'd think with it's beginnings and what happened to it's people, the people of Atlas would be just as humble as Mantle.
Right?
Wrong.
Throughout the years, Atlas slowly decade from the inside out. Not the buildings mind you but the people. They became arrogant, self-severing and believed themselves to be untouchable by either man or Grimm. That was in no part, thanks to the fact they have an actually military. One that held both huntsman AND soldiers within their ranks to battle the creatures of Grimm and other humans or Faunus.
The other three kingdom use Huntsman and or mercenaries to do the fighting, using men that were basically militia soldiers. Not actually soldiers.
Naturally out of all four kingdoms, Atlas had the highest Grimm kill count and was often seen, leading the charge in attacking the Grimm. While they had soldiers, Vale had produced the best huntsman and huntress, easily outclassing and outmatching any soldier Atlas created. Mistral had produced unique and deadly people that range from huntsman, to rogues, mercenaries and Mistral was often the place you to go for...less then honorable things.
Be they weapons, items or if you need someone to be dealt with, they can help.
Now, Vacuo was known for producing the most STRUBBORN and thick skinned people on the face of the planet. There was an old saying in Vacuo:
If you can survive here, you're welcome.
Vale produced huntsman, Atlas created soldiers, Mistral breed mercenaries and Vacuo created survivors.
But Atlas has only gotten worse over the years, with Jacques GELE taking over the SDC and for all intent and purpose's, helping birth the now violent White Fang. Tha man cared not for anything or anyone, only for money and destroying anyone to get what he wanted. The fact he was now in control of Remnant's biggest supply of it's lifeline aka Dust, this could only end in one way:
Complete disaster.
Everyone with two brain cells could see the SDC was basically a burning, runaway train, just waiting to hit something.
"Now that time is coming faster then anyone could have predicted."
General James Ironwood thought to himself, as he mentally snorted to himself, thinking about Jacques's fate. That man could not see beyond his nose and wouldn't even considered the fact he was already doomed. Despite him and some of the other council actually making a good point or two, James knew they were only doing it for their benefit.
Not for the kingdom's or Remnant as a whole.
This was the most stressed out he's ever been in his entire life. The balance and peace Remnant has experienced for eighty years, despite the recent increase in White Fang attack, more and more huntsman going rogue along with bandit attacks all over Mistral. The fact the Spring Maiden was STILL missing after two decades and a half, certainly didn't help matters.
Only made it worse.
At the moment, the general was in his office at Atlas Academy and around him in a semi-circle were the newly created Ace-Ops, Specialist Winter Schnee, Dr. Pietro Polendina and Penny. Ozpin wouldn't approve of this but damnit, Ironwood needed to surround himself with people he could trust. If Oz could recruit people on a whim and hope for the best, why couldn't he recruit people they KNOW they can trust?
With the attack on Amber, the Vytal Festival closing in and now, another world merging with their own and to top it all off, the council was trying to get him to start a war with the Avengers,
Not the USA.
The Avengers.
Someone from within this "SHEILD" organization had leaked vital intelligence on all members of the Avengers and it had sent the council into a frenzy. Now, normally you'd think he be happy about something like that, James getting vital intel on a foreign superpower that could one day prove to be a threat to Atlas and Mantle, possible all of Remnant itself.
But you would be wrong.
"'Intel that'll help Atlas' my ass. Whoever sent that intel only wanted us to do their dirty work for them."
Was Ironwood's thoughts on their so called "Ally". As both a general and headmaster of Atlas academy with two seats on the council, it was his job to be one step ahead at all times and known when certain actions were really helpful to Atlas and when it wasn't. In other words, James had to known when certain actions would either hurt or help them in the long run.
Attacking the Avengers was nothing short of suicide and it wasn't because of the Grimm Reaper or Mage either. Though those two did tip the scales more in their favor, rather then Atlas's.
"And those damned idiots on the council want to wage war with them. Well, at least Sleet and Camilla know that it's a terrible and outright suicidal idea."
Much like him, the two on the council saw what this really was:
Someone trying to goad them into doing their dirty work, by railing them up to attack prematurely. Whoever sent them the intel, was trying to wind them up using their paranoia of an unknown person and possible threat. James knew, if the Avengers ever decide to attack Atlas, there is a good chance they would lose. For all their might, numbers and pure power it meant very little against them.
The Avengers...they were powerful.
Terrifying powerful.
For fucks sake, James had watched the footage and saw one of the Grimm Reaper's summoning completely and utterly decimated Loki's forces with ONE attack!
Even if those forces were quickly replaced by more and more squads, it didn't matter as they met a similar fate as their predecessors. Something that left Ironwood a bit scared as, while numbers don't decide a battle, they do help.
But the leader of the Avengers showed numbers don't matter.
If that wasn't enough, then he had watched a green behemoth smash and tear the aliens apart with his bare hands! He watched Thor, the god of thunder and Storm summoning the elements to their finger tips, blasting away any who tried to stand in their way. Like a fully realized maiden with little to no effort on their part. Then there was that "indestructible wolverine" ripping and tearing through the alien's armor like it was hot butter.
That was of course, not including the other Avengers, using their own unique skill set or powers to fight their foes.
It was just flat out suicide to attack the Avengers without proper planning, numbers and tactics. Even then, the Grimm Reaper, Mage and that "Hulk" creature with Iron Man, Thor, Storm and Wolverine could prove to be the most dangerous of them all. The two magic user's aside, the Hulk was a being of pure rage and muscle that grew stronger as time went on. Never mind the fact, the creatures anger would be a bloody damn beacon for the Grimm, it would be a complete disaster. Even IF they brought the Hulk down.
Then there's Iron Man aka Tony Stark.
While the man wasn't as strong as the Hulk nor magically powered like his children, he did have one thing that could threaten all of Atlas:
His IQ.
It wasn't something that was said openly, nor discussed freely but it went unsaid throughout the four kingdoms:
Atlas is the best and as such, they get the best. That included the smartest people in the world. While yes, it did technically come down to "First come, first serve" Atlas is where they were often sent, simply because there was no better place to nurture that person's ability. No matter how much people would like to say otherwise, Atlas for all it's arrogance and corruption, did in fact have the best people to teach the gifted.
But now with a new world, things have change in that regard.
Tony Stark is easily one of THE smartest people on the planet, his IQ nearly reaching 300 and with the will to surpass ANYTHING Atlas could make. The Iron Man suit, while it wasn't too hard to figure out and with enough time, Atlas COULD remake the suit if they were given enough time but that wasn't Tony's crowning jewel. No sir, it was the power supple that powered the armor:
The Arc Reactor.
That is something no one in Atlas's R&D, not even Dr. Polendina could figure out HOW it was created or what it's made out of. That revelation did not sit well with the council, along with many in Atlas and is one of the reasons why they want a war with the Avengers.
They do not like to be upstaged by anyone.
Thankful however, many in Atlas R&D took this as another challenge to overcome. It was good to have some friendly competition after all, people pushing each other to be the best was always a good thing.
The fact Stark had created a fully realized and fully function AI had them all shocked and scared. This fact caused the council to go ballistic(And become very fearful) as they have a charter against such things, wanting to claim them for themselves. Despite saying it was for Atlas's benefits, James knew they only wanted it for themselves, so the kingdom could still appear to be the most advanced in all the world.
Basically saving face and political power.
As stated before, Atlas is suppose to be the strongest kingdom in terms of military power and technological advancement.
It certainly didn't help that Tony Stark is not only one of the smartest people on the planet, he could hack into Atlas's mainframe and could do untold damage if it ever crossed his mind to do so or that AI of his.
THAT is what set many on the council off, fearing the man would sell sensitive intel to their enemies or worse, the White Fang.
Thankful not EVERYONE on the council was beyond reason and wasn't effected by the virus known as "stupidity" or just plain greed. Greed that would destroy them all, if it wasn't for a few more sensible and admittedly more cautious members of the council was able to stay their hand.
For now.
"But despite the information we've gained, we particular know next to nothing about Xero, his sister and even that Ursula woman. Hell that Asia girl could revolutionize modern medicine all over the world. She's already making breakthroughs in medicine, using her gifts to help those who needed it the most."
Namely those that had been forgotten and left to die by most of the world and Ironwood for one, could say she was doing a damn fine job of it. But as always, there were those that did not share his thoughts on the matter.
Jacques has been raising all kinds of hell, going on and on about how the Reaper and his "freakish" family would undo everything Atlas has created, undermining the kingdom's best interests. Even going so far, to say that Asia girl was making a mockery of Atlas's advancements by using her power willy nilly on the "degrades of society" while ignoring the ones who truly need help.
Fucking hypocrite, James was not fooled by what he said.
The man might talk a big game but he completely ignored the fact Atlas and by that extension, the SDC didn't even known about them till a month ago.
Greedy, no good son of a bitch.
James was half tempted to use his weapon, Due Process and shut him up for good. All that man saw as Lein signs and it would get them all killed or worse, if his greed got too out of control. That man could not see past his nose and if needed, Ironwood would put him down for good, the council and SDC be damned!
That also included dealing with anyone, be they military personal or otherwise that came from Atlas, trying to KILL any one of the Avengers. No doubt they say, they were acting in Atlas's best interest but they were allowing their fears to cloud their minds and those actions would start a war with the USA. Despite only a few calling for their deaths, they were powerful.
At least in terms of political power thankful. He'll deal with them if needed but he really, truly hoped cooler heads would prevail. Not even Jacques, for all his bitching, could deny the facts and cons of attacking the Avengers with no good reason and "What if's" aren't a very good reason.
But Ironwood feared Jacques would ignore that and drag Atlas down with him. The man believed he knew best, regardless of what topic it was and thought he had the final say in anything. The fact he was head of the SDC, which supplied Atlas's army with it's dust only made it that much harder for Ironwood to deal with the man.
While not openly, Jacques could basically insult and verbally abuse Ironwood to his heart's content and James would have to grin and bear with it. The price for being in such a high position of power, required James to deal with arrogant know it all's, like Jacques and now if Ironwood couldn't find a way to convince the Schnee to stop his current course of action, they'd all be doomed.
All because he was either afraid of the power the Avengers wield or wanted under his control, it didn't matter in the end. While he was indeed just one man, he was egging on the other council members, making them even more fearful.
The unknown has always scared the many, as humanity's history with the Faunus and even the very first huntsman unlock their aura, proved the common folk will always fear the unknown. Truth be told, some of their arguments did have merit to them, as they could become a huge security risk to not just Atlas but all of Remnant itself, if any other countries decide to attack.
But until then, Ironwood wouldn't let them do anything.
Only and only IF they attacked first, not a second before. He would not allow some fearful idiots start a war that Atlas could and would more then likely lose, if they attacked first. When he reviewed their newly acquired info on the Avengers, Ironwood put an "Flee on site" to all soldiers in Atlas's army. He did not need any die hard nationalist or arrogant fool starting another great war, simply because they have something to prove.
Ironwood liked to think his men were above such things but it never hurt to be certain. Humans(And Faunus alike) were prone to rash decision making when they become jealous and even more so, when they feel threaten by an unknown foe. They would rather stomp out the threat before it becomes a threat and while Ironwood could get behind that mentally, when it came to making new possible allies, he knew how dangerous that kind of thinking could be.
James loved Atlas but he knew, the people were just regular people, along with it's soldiers and were prone to being humans.
Just a fact of life, as humans and Faunus make mistakes.
He knew some of the men did not like the Avengers, refusing to believe they were a threat to Atlas(And while they weren't enemies, Ironwood had no doubt if they did, Atlas may not recover if they do become enemies) Ironwood knew he had to nip it in the bud while he still could. He wouldn't allow someone's pride be the thing that cause's Atlas to fall.
Earth has so many different and unique people that are popping up all over the global, there was no telling what they can do.
That made them dangerous.
Very dangerous.
Really, at the moment the man had far more pressing matters to attend too, then some fearful old fossils and greedy bastards. With the attack on the Fall Maiden, the Vytal Festival nearing in just a couple of months and now this? A new world merging with their own and has people that could match and even surpass the Maidens, had Ironwood more then a little stressed. Which is why he decide to expanded his own circle of trust.
Ozpin was right in wanting to keep some matters of their war a secret but now? With all new players on the board, they needed to expanded their circle of trust and needed new, fresh blood with a new set of eyes and minds.
Enemy or not, the Avengers weren't the only possible threat to Atlas and Remnant as a whole. There were plenty of other people groups, nations and even species to contend with. Naturally, Ironwood was talking about, not only the mutants of Earth but the deadly and very hostile alien invasion force that attacked New York city with ever intention of raining down hell on Earth.
Thankful, the Avengers and their allies were able to beat back the invasion with shocking, zero civilian casualties but sadly a lot of dead soldiers. Then again, the other option was far worse and for all intents and purposes, it was a great victory for humanity as a whole against an alien invasion lead by a homicidal god.
The Avengers were heroes and anyone who made an enemy out of them, would have the worst PR response in history. James really hoped those fools in the council realized that before they did something, that damn Atlas. If they tried to label the Avengers, or the Stark children as monsters, it would backfire on them.
Hard.
"General, are you sure that headmaster Ozpin is telling you the truth?"
Back to matter at hand, James opened his eyes and saw Winter was the one to pose that question. Again, not that he could blame her, as he had the same reaction once before.
"I am. Believe me Winter, all of you, i had the same reaction and undoubtedly you all have questions. Possible, the same questions i had, so go ahead, ask: What do you want to known?"
"Sir, this might be foolish of me to ask, but wouldn't it be better if everyone knew about Salem? Ya known, so that way we can untie all of humanity and Faunus kind, to fight her and her Grimm, defeating them once and for all?"
Marrow Amin just asked one of the most common questions, Ozpin often got. Marrow himself was, shocking enough, a dog Faunus, with long greenish-black hair tied in a bun and blue eyes. His trait is a dark gray canine tail.
He wearing an Atlesian Specialist uniform that consists of a white double-breasted coat with silver buttons, dark blue accents, collar, shoulder flaps with matching cuffs that have two silver buttons. The coat's tail splits, allowing Marrow's dog tail to move freely. He has a dark blue belt with a silver buckle around his waist with a dark blue pouch on the right side. He has a red ascot tied around his neck. Marrow wears a red shirt under his coat. He wears dark blue trousers tucked into his black knee-high boots.
James knew this was a question Ozpin was asked a lot and he should known. After all that was his first question too.
"Because Marrow, it all boils down to the simple fact, we CAN'T start a panic. Never mind the fact, many people won't believe us at face value many people WILL panic, once they realize the Grimm have a queen. One that is very powerful and has been working for centuries, to wipe out all life on Remnant. Then lets add onto the fact, we have no evidence to the contrary. Salem's smart, she's been doing this for a very long time and knows the hearts of men. She knows how to twist a person's ideals, values and what's worse, is she works from the shadows. Not revealing her presence and when the time comes to put the blame on someone, we can only point at each other."
Ironwood sighed, as he leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling,"She's trying to divide us and with this whole 'new world order' i feel like things, will become much more complicated."
"B-but sir, i can understand that. But...the maidens and relic's-"
"Hard to believe, i known Harriet. But let me ask you something, have you ever wonder WHAT kept's Atlas afloat? Sure, gravity dust has been used for such things but why hasn't anyone ever kept a constant supply of dust, within the bellies of Atlas, to kept it afloat? Why has no ever panicked or questions 'will we ever run out of dust?' Have you ever wonder why that is?"
The woman stayed silent for a few seconds, before speaking,"Yes sir, i have and no one has ever answered me."
The woman known as Harriet Bree herself is a dark-skinned young woman with platinum blonde and brown hair shaved on the sides and dark pink eyes.
She wears a very short-sleeved Atlesian Specialist uniform that consists of a sleeveless white double-breasted vest with silver buttons and dark blue accents. It has a white and dark blue-collar, a dark blue short-sleeved t-shirt, a red tie and white shorts. She wears dark blue chaps that presumably connect to the tops of her shorts. The chaps expose the inner part of the thighs and the backs of her calves. She also wears blue fingerless gloves and dark gray trainers with black accents and a white stripe accompanied with red socks. She also has white calf pads and dark blue knee pads as well. There are also dark blue straps fastened around the top of her vest. The blond portions of her hair are styled in a way that resembles a rabbit's ears.
James nodded and said,"That's because, no one really KNOWS how Atlas is kept afloat, save for a select few. The only reason Atlas stays flying, is because of the Relic Of Creation. The vault it's sealed in is an ancient one. One that can only be opened by the Winter Maiden, Fria. Mouths prior, the current Fall Maiden, Amber was attacked by Salem's forces and for the first time in history, half the power has been stolen. I gave Ozpin a state of the art tech, to keep her alive but Ameber doesn't have long. Even now, her life force is slowly fading and even though this has never happened before, the chance of Amber's power going to her attacker is not impossible."
"Most likely, it will happen."
Clover Ebi said, his voice grave,"It would make prefect sense for the power, to seek it's other half out. Which is bad for us."
Clover is a tall man, with short brown hair and teal-green eyes. He wore a sleeveless Atlesian Specialist uniform that consisted of a white sleeveless double breasted coat with red and blue accents with ornate detailing shaped to the form of wishbones, broad tail with red lining and a four-leaf clover pin on the lapel. His belt had a rabbit's foot keychain hanging off it. He also wears white pants and covered his hands with brown fingerless addition blue calf high boots with four dark blue straps and silver steel toe plating.
"It is the most likely conclusion and i do not believe Amber's attacker will wait around for her soul to leave her body naturally."
Vine Zeki spoke, his voice quite and soft as he looked to be deep in thought. The tallest member of the Ace Ops, Vine has short shaved gray hair, deathly pale skin and light blue eyes. He had several tattoos, including a third eye tattoo along the center of his forehead and chin. He wore an Atlesian Specialist uniform that consisted of a white double-breasted, partially unbuttoned coat with a broad tail, navy blue accents, collar and shoulder flaps, a red sash running diagonally over his left shoulder meeting a second red sash around his waist under a large blue belt, and navy blue fingerless gloves that go up to his brachium. He wore navy blue pants tucked into a pair of navy blue thigh-high boots with steel toe and heel plating, a small pouch on the sides and kneepad detailing. He wore beaded necklaces around his neck and beaded bracelets around his right arm alongside two silver bands, one small, one large on his left forearm.
"Don't forgot, there are FOUR maidens."
The final member of the Ace Ops, Elm Ederne with a deep frown on her face,"Who's to say, after this bitch finish's off Amber, she won't go for the other three."
Elm is a tall young muscular woman with medium brown hair in a short ponytail, brown-tan skin, and brown eyes. She wears an Atlesian Specialist uniform that consists of an open white, one-sleeved crop jacket with dark blue accents, shoulder flaps and collar and a dark gray shirt. She has silver vambraces over her forearms She has a red belt around her white pants and goes barefoot save for some martial arts footwraps alongside dark blue calf plates that cover the tops of her feet, the plates have three red straps tied around them; the soles of her feet are appropriately dirty as a result. She also has a silver hoop earring on her right ear.
"Normally i wouldn't think a person could wield all four powers."
Ironwood said, a deep frown forming on his face,"But now, that someone has been able to steal half the Fall Maiden's power, we can't rule anything out yet. Amber's attacker is lying low as i said before. They are either waiting for a chance to take the rest of the power or for Amber to die out right, we don't have much time. I already have agents looking for Fira but it may take sometime and what's worse, Fira may already be gone. She is very old and like Amber, doesn't have much time left to began with, The Spring Maiden vanished two decades ago in Mistral and we have absolutely nothing on the Summer Maiden. We didn't have contact with the last one and by the time we did find her, she was long dead. That was a week ago."
"Meaning the new Summer Maiden could be somewhere on Earth for all we known."
Harriet said with a groan, Remnant was big enough as it was but Earth was massive compared to the four kingdoms and outer lands. There were countless places the new Summer Maiden could be and even then, with how diverse Earth was, there was no telling if the new one would be open to corporation. Even if her team beat the new one(Which sounded like taking on a hundred megoliath's) she might kill herself, out of sheer spite.
Then they'd have to start all over again!
"Indeed. Clover, i want you're team to be not only on the look out for the new Summer Maiden, but i want you to keep an eye on some of our soldiers. Winter, i known this is asking a lot but i want you to keep on eye on you're father as well, along with his own personal soldiers at the SDC."
That caught everyone's attention, he wanted them to do what?
"S-sir, why would you need us to do that?"
Marrow asked, his voice filled with disbelief. Hey, he might be new to the team but he was certain, this wasn't a normal orders.
"I trust you've heard, how many are dealing with the revelations in the US, specifically the Avengers."
They all nodded, waiting patiently for the general to continue. The man leaned forward, hands interlocking with one another as he spoke,"Many want to conscripted them into our military and others, want the Stark children cut open."
"Are they insane?!"
Winter blurted out, shock covering her face, as Penny spoke up for the first time,"But sir, won't that just start another war? Why would they want that? As far as i can see, the Avengers are heroes and could be a massive help in our fight against the Grimm? Why would they want to make them our enemies?"
Penny knew she wasn't the smartest person, when it came to social interaction but even then, she couldn't not find a logical reason to do that to people, whom many considered heroes.
Clover on the other hand, sighed as he slapped his forehead,"Because they're afraid Penny. General Ironwood had me review the 'intel' we received earlier, have sent the council into a frenzy. Because they know, if war does break out between the US/Avengers and Atlas, we will lose."
"Oi, selling us a little short, aren't you boss?"
Harriet said, a bit annoyed at how Clover seemed so certain Atlas(And by that extension, the Ace-Ops) would lose. They were the best damn huntsman and huntress in all of Atlas with the best tech around! None of the Avengers even had aura and while, yes the Stark children had magic and what not, they could still beat the Avengers, right.
Right?
With a stoic look, Ironwood pressed a few buttons on his desk, bringing up a report of the intel, that sent the council into a frenzy.
"This is the intel we got. This is all classified, so do keep this to yourselves. We CANNOT let the people become aware of this, otherwise, we may have a Grimm invasion on our hands. This is the reason, why i put out an 'flee on site' order to all soldiers. I fear one of our more prideful soldiers will do something and or, be order by one of the council members into attacking one of the Avengers without just cause and start a war."
As he said this, the Ace Ops, Winter, Penny and her father watched, what looked like an amateur video footage of a a blond woman, in a dark dress holding up an evil looking sword, as she spoke, facing off a huge wave of those aliens:
"Vortigern, Hammer of the Vile King, reverse the rising sun. Swallow the light, Excalibur Morgan!"
What followed, could only be described as a wave of energy shooting from her sword, destroying everything and when it reached the large group:
KA-BOOM
The camera shook violent, as it was filled with the energy wave, transforming into a pillar of death!
"Holy shit..."
Dr. Polendina spoke, unable to believe what he just saw and shivered in fright of the power displayed. Video or not, even he could feel the sheer overwhelming power the woman unleashed upon those aliens. A feeling everyone shared, as they all understood what the energy was telling them, oddly enough:
Give up, abandon all hope and fall into despair.
Just who the hell was this woman and what kind of weapon does that?!
"I'm forwarding the intel to all you're personal scrolls."
James said, as he closed the video,"Be sure to read each and every part of it. This is a delicate situation and we cannot allow anyone from our side, to make one wrong move. I do not care who it is or who they work for, we cannot allow them to make the situation unstable simply because of 'what ifs'. You have full authorization to do whatever it takes to stop them, even if you have to kill them. Understood?"
The Ace-Ops and Winter saluted:
"Yes sir!"
"Doctor, Penny i want you two going through the files we've received. Even if the council might be sacred out of their minds, they have brought up a few good points and i want to make sure all this information is accurate and not falsified. With you're mind doctor and Penny's processing power, i trust you to make sure this is all true."
"Understood general."
Same Time In A Hidden Location, Within Mistral
"We should strike now! This the prefect opportunity to show the humans that the White Fang is something to be feared more then the Grimm!"
Sienna Khan liked to believe she was a smart, assertive but reasonable person. She was cool under pressure, and made decisions to the best of her ability and preferred to have all the information, before she made said decision. Yes, she was a prideful and proud person, she was proud of her species and if given the chance, she wouldn't be reborn as a human. She was a Faunus through and through, she was proud of it and that was one of the reason, why she decide to become High Leader of the White Fang.
Ghira wasn't a bad leader and was in fact, by all rights an ideal leader. Like her, cool under pressure, clam and willing to listen to the concerns of those who worked under him but refused to let anyone walk all over him but he was, at times, a fool. They both wanted peace and while she would love nothing more then that, she didn't want the humans to believe the Faunus were weak. She wouldn't allow humanity to push Faunus kind back, without them pushing back!
With this line of thinking, one might assume Sienna was an impulsive woman but that couldn't be further from the truth. She was a thinker, builder and thought things out to the last detail, making plans within plans. One had to when you were leading a band of freedom fighters, even though most of the world called you terrorists and herself, a bloodthirsty monster.
Though that was mostly because of Atlas's and it's propaganda machine, trying to paint the White Fang as mindless beasts, such as the masks of the beast they wear.
While yes, Sienna wanted people to FEAR the White Fang, so she could get them to LISTEN!
That is the true root of all their problems:
No one listens and no one cares. All peaceful efforts, mostly in Atlas of course, were met with brutal violence. It didn't matter if the protesters were protecting themselves or not. More then once, did humans start the fights and when Atlas soldiers saw it, they said they "Couldn't do anything about it." Oh but if a FAUNUS fought back despite merely trying to defend themselves, they'd be beaten, chained and throw in prison with the key to the cell throw away before the day was done.
Where was the justice in that?
The answer is that there was none. That's how it's always been and while Sienna IS a Faunus supremacist and hated humans in general, she didn't want to kill them all! She just wanted Faunus kind to prosper and if a few humans in power wouldn't allow that, then she and the rest Faunus kind had little choice but to fight back.
Atlas would never admit they were wrong.
Ever.
Atlas Is Never Wrong.
That was the kingdom's unofficial policy and would do ANYTHING to ensure that remained true, no matter what they did. No one was safe from those who were in power in Atlas to keep that fact true and recently, Sienna learned not even the Schnee family.
Years ago, Willow's younger brother, Ambrose Schnee was kidnapped and Atlas pinned the blame on the White Fang. Atlas did everything they could to rescue him but he died during the rescue attempt and everyone who did the deed. It was a stain on Atlas "impeccable record" and the relations between Atlas and the Schnee family. Naturally, the White Fang did take credit for it and is one of the reasons, Atlas was coming down on them so hard. But, here's the thing:
This was BEFORE Sienna came into power and Ghira would never do such a thing before or after his time as high leader. As for why the White Fang claimed the glory for it? They didn't.
At least unofficial, as no one within the Fang knew about it and two days after Ambrose's death, news from Atlas was spreading about how THEY were responsible for it. Even if they denied it, who would listen and who would even care?
Their were animals, people said.
Their terrorist's so they can't be trusted, people said.
That was one of the reasons why Ghira stepped down willingly. There's simply wasn't anything he could do and all this happened under his watch. He believed Sienna could at least get somewhere, where he couldn't.
To do what he couldn't.
If the world wanted to call them monsters? Fine, Sienna would show them monsters and MAKE them listen. They tried the peaceful route and it didn't work. Atlas did not like to be challenged and often crushed whoever dared to stay up to them. Be they in the courts, on the battlefield and of course, the media. It was obvious to everyone that there was no legal way to beat the SDC.
It wasn't like a Grimm, as it was a beast all on it's own.
Everyone knew that, the Faunus most of all including Ghira and Sienna.
It was time for a new approach. On a battlefield they could win, as the legal way was simply a losing one. It was time to flip the script and FORCE change. After all, it worked during the Faunus wars and even the great war, so force could work again. In addition if they could clear their names on kidnapping the younger Schnee, well all the better. Atlas would be caught, with egg on their faces AND lying too boot.
All the better.
But to do so, they needed to answer this question:
Who REALLY kidnapped the boy and why?
Really, if the White Fang or just a Faunus or group of Faunus in general really DID kidnap the boy, it would be simply to figure out. But no, Sienna had it on good authority that is was HUMANS that kidnapped the Schnee. However, that was all her spies got, as the entire event was swiped under the rug, throw in a vault deep underground and the key throw away.
Whoever did this or conducted the investigation did not want anyone to find out anything. Hell, it could have been both and Atlas didn't want anything to further ruin it's reputation, as this was shortly after the Faunus rights revolution.
In a lot of ways, the Schnee's kidnapping was like how the SDC dealt with their Faunus workers. As far as they were concerned, it was no real lose. They'd just swipe it under the rug, lie their ass's off and go about their lives and feed the rest of Remnant lies to paint the victims in a bad light. They would also crush anyone who dare try to say otherwise.
Much like how they're trying to tear down all Ghira and Kali built, to ensure the Faunus would forever be second class citizens and or be hunted down and killed like the creatures of Grimm.
FAT CHANCE!
There was no way Sienna would rest, until they ALL answered for their crimes against her kind. All legal measures, no matter what evidence they got their hands on it was always sweep under the rug, had failed time and time again. Well, if the legal system what do right by the Faunus, what other choice did they have?
Ghira was a good man but he didn't have the right mentality to do what was necessary to save their race.
But with the sudden expansion of their world, combining with another that not only had a bigger population but no Faunus whatsoever had given Sienna pause. Originally she was going to sit back and wait, see who she could go to and try to build alliances and for the first time since she took over the White Fang, the Khan felt hope.
Atlas might control most of Remnant's airways and completely disregard the Faunus treatment, Earth's countries would be different. The fact the Untied Nations invited Ghira to met with the rest of the world's leaders was a very good sign. Sienna was able to read up on some of Earth's history and while she did find it funny in an ironic way, humans hating other humans, to the point white skinned humans enslaved black skinned ones.
Much like how the Schnee enslaved the Faunus.
The irony was not lost to her and while she was indeed, a Faunus supremacist the tiger Faunus wasn't heartless. She had heard and read A LOT of bad things that happened to the Africa America's during their time in enslavement. Truth be told, when Sienna read the articles and watched the videos on how Earth's people discriminate towards selective types of people, she begin to lose hope for her people.
On the off chance they DO, someway, somehow over throw Jacques, help reform the SDC and get the laws needed to protect her kind, who says that'll change anything? No matter how she looked at it, there will always be people who hate the Faunus for being who they are and even if they have to be more careful about it, they could still hurt the Faunus, regardless of the law.
It was a cruel world in both Earth and Remnant. The only difference between the two, was one was without the threat of the Grimm and without the Faunus to content with. Despite that fact and even being in time of peace, the humans of Earth turn their hate against one another.
Not surprising.
Discriminate on Earth was on a much worse scale then on Remnant and even Sienna had to admit, the Faunus didn't have it as bad as those African Americans did. With no Grimm running around, slave practice was done openly, without pause, without a care in the world. The SDC hid their enslavement of the Faunus behind closed door's, hiding behind legal bullshit and ensuring no would speak out against them. The slave practice on Earth however?
They didn't hide it and what's worse, is that those who enslaved the blacks made it a way of life.
Despicable.
But after many years of enslavement, along with a long, bloody war they gained both, their freedom and equal rights. Something Sienna was hoping would follow with Faunus kind and with this new world, along with it's history. Despite Earth's never ending record of death, destruction and carnage, Sienna had hope, believe that they can do it.
It made her happy, because it gave her kind hope and an ideal to strive towards. That all their fighting and sacrifice wasn't pointless or in vain. They just have to try harder and keep up the pressure. They could even use Earth's history, as a sort of latch key in their arguments and no one could deny the history facts either. It would still be hard as hell but with this, they can start gaining a little ground.
What really made her happy, were the founding of the "The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act" otherwise known as "Hate Crime Law" and even "The National Labor Relations Act".
These were the types of laws that the various members councils, especially in Atlas, dragged their feet and are barely enforced by law enforcement. Ghira had told her, that he hoped this would finally "Kick the dead horse alive" in terms of progression for their equal rights in Remnant. Ghira had high hopes the kingdoms would follow their example on dealing with racism but Sienna had her doubts. While admittedly, she did take and make the White Fang more violent, it wasn't mindless violence. It was violence with a purpose.
Not mindless mind you but targeting those that deserved it.
They might disagree on methods but they were still friends.
But in all honest, Sienna was hoping to get the fabled "Grimm Reaper" and possible "The Avengers" on her side. But mostly the Reaper, as she had followed his career and liked what she read. He didn't care for the red tape surrounding the people he killed. He hunted them, dug up all the dirt they had, revealed to the world to make sure everyone knows just who they were and delivered his own form of justice.
Something the Khan could get behind.
Even though Ghira and Kali might disapprove, Sienna and even the Albain brothers, Corsac and Fennec approved his methods. Methods, they themselves plan to introduce to the White Fang, as his methods got results and since it clearly worked, why not try it themselves?
After all, their spies in Atlas had told them, the Reaper's methods and tendency to reveal what his targets have done, made them very nervous. If not for his methods, then the power he wielded.
And why shouldn't they?
That boy and his sister, can not only summon the souls of legendary heroes and villains back to life, with a couple of them being able to summon an entire fucking ARMY on a whim! Seriously, what the ever flying fuck are these kids?!
Then there are the kids fellow Avengers, friends, partners and let's not forgot, that goddamn fucking DRAGON! Seriously, that woman couldn't even be considered a Faunus, as the have been no reports of a Faunus with dragon traits, in their long history. Many in the White Fang believed the dragon woman could be a new beacon of hope for Faunus everywhere.
Some had considered the dragoness to be a god of sorts. Something that made many roll their eyes at.
That would be very unlikely. Clearly, she was strong and unique but she certainly wasn't a god, right?
Right.
The Avengers were considered heroes around the world, for stopping an alien invasion and it's leader who by all rights is a god and has been destroying criminal and terrorist rings all around the world. All the while the Avengers main healer is creating newly advanced medicines and the Reaper's father, advancing technology to a new age.
Sienna knew, if the White Fang could ally themselves with the Avengers, they would have a real chance at making true change. Everyone, who had ignored the Faunus for so long, would no longer be able to do so and they would have a real, true voice in the world. The Khan could see an end in sight, one not where the White Fang is put down but they disband, as their goals will finally be made reality.
But even then, she felt doubt prickle in the back of her mind.
She wasn't blind to the fact, Earth had it's own problems with racism and with the rise of more and more mutants in the world, the Khan feels like things will only get harder. But if she could just at the least get the Avengers or anyone of the major countries on the White Fang's side, they stood a real chance at making change in Remnant.
If not?
Well, they were no longer restrained to the four kingdoms or even out of them either.
There were plenty of unoccupied arena's in the world and while it wouldn't be easy to settle in one of those remote arena's, it was doable. After all, they converted Kuo Kuana in Menagerie. Sienna is certain they can pool their resources and start anew or even find a better place to call home, away from Menagerie, a place that was given to them out of spite rather the respect.
Home it might be to many, but it did not change the fact it was basically a prison in a sense. Not in the way that the Faunus couldn't leave, it was a place where Faunus can ONLY be themselves in peace without fear of being attacked, simply because they had extra appendages.
Hell, if the White Fang could find and free all the SDC workers, they could move them all across the world and more importantly past Remnant's boarders. No matter how the SDC dress it up, they wouldn't be able force the workers back without SOMEONE noticing something wasn't quite right about this picture. That would lead to an inquiry and ultimately lead to causing problems for the SDC.
Something they would never allow to come to light and forcing Atlas itself to do something about it or suffer PR backlash.
But that was all just in theory, if the White Fang could pull it off. And who's to say, the SDC won't just kidnap other Faunus around Remnant?
Nothing that's what.
"But if we can get any of the countries, this 'SHEILD', the Avengers or just the Stark's in general the White Fang will have a voice in the new world and will rise up as anew."
She didn't have to worry about Atlas recruiting them, as they not only have a reputation they would maintain at any cost, they don't like being upstaged by ANYONE. No matter what they preached, they most certainly did not practice it and Atlas looked out for their own interest first and foremost.
Everything and everyone else, was secondary in their eyes.
The SDC didn't like it either and given the fact, all of Earth DID NOT run on Dust, probably wouldn't sit well with them. Aside from the fact the currency would be different for obvious reasons, none of the other countries had any real reason to buy Dust. Sure, Sienna could see PMC's buying Dust but she had no real way to know for certain, as she just have to wait and see.
The next, was the fact Stark Industries was not only much BIGGER then the SDC and a completely different beast on it's own, Stark Industries pretty much dipped their hands into everything. Only unlike the SDC, who had monopolized on just about every store that sold Dust, Stark Industries merely supported them in their business, without taking it over completely.
Thus making them, at least in the business world, more trustworthy then the SDC.
Yet another blow to their fragile ego and one that, while petty as it sounded she took it, Sienna was happy to see. Any hit at the SDC, Atlas or best of all Jacques reputation. The fact there were in fact laws against monopolies, would no doubt cause a stink up in Atlas and another win for everyone against the SDC.
All in all, Earth suddenly merging with Remnant has opened many doors to the White Fang and Sienna intended to walk right through them. This is an golden opportunity for Faunus everywhere and she was not about to let some homicidal maniac, with cat issues fuck that up for the rest of them!
"Adam...i do not like repeating myself, so i'll only say this once more: We will NOT attack potential allies, on the chance it'll secure some minor victory for you. It is a terrible idea and it WILL doom not just the White Fang but Faunus everywhere."
The fact Corsac and Fennec weren't supporting Adam in his mad crusade, should have been a wake up call to the bull Faunus. Those two have been trying to push for a new leader in the shadows and she knew, they wanted Adam to take her place. But in the current situation they were in, they needed her more then they did him. That should have told Adam, his mad crusade would fail if he tried anything.
Before, they could have maybe, just maybe, they could have won a second Faunus war. But not anymore, even if she was originally against the idea of a second Faunus war, it wouldn't be a slaughter or even a massacre.
It would be pure genocide on the Faunus, with no hope of winning. She hoped the fool before her understood stood that simple fact and prayed the gods would answer her prayers.
Sadly, the gods weren't so kind to her and did not heed her prayers, as Adam still kneeling, tried to protested,"But we can-"
"NO! ADAM, WE WILL NOT DO ANYTHING! SO SIT DOWN AND SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR ONE GODDAMN SECOND! YOU WILL LISTEN TO REASON FOR ONCE IN YOU'RE WORTHLESS LIFE!"
Sienna, finally reaching the end of her rope and patience, shot out of her wooden throne and marched towards Adam, fury written all over her face, making everone jump at the sudden shift in her attitude,"WE CANNOT, WILL NOT ATTACK THE HUMANS AT THE SUMMIT, CAUSE IF WE DO, IT WILL MEAN THE END OF THE FAUNUS! IF WE MAKE A MOVE TO KILL THE WOLRD LEADERS, SUCESSED OR FAIL, THE ENTIRE WORLD WILL UNITE AND HUNT US DOWN, AS IF WE WERE THE GRIMM THEMSELVES! AND NO, WE CANNOT WIN, SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY OUTNUMBER US TEN TO ONE! ONE ADAM! IT WILL BE A SLAUGHTER, NOT A WAR, JUST PURE EXTERMINATION ON OUR SIDE! GENOCIDE FOR GODS SAKE ADAM! PURE GENOCIDE! YOU WILL NOT, IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM ATTACK THE HUMANS AND IF YOU DO, IF YOU SO MUCH AS BREATHE IN THE WRONG WAY TOWARDS THEM, I WILL PERSONAL CUT YOU AND ALL YOU'RE SUPPORTS FROM THE WHITE FANG AND I WILL OFFER YOU UP TO THE HUMANS ON A SLIVER PLATER! ALONG WITH YOU'RE SUPPROTERS! IS. THAT. CLEAR?!"
Adam gritted his teeth at the dressing down, gripping his blade tightly, as Sienna's guards keep their eyes on him, waiting for him to do something stupid. Even those who supported Taurus knew the game had change with the new players and a much bigger playing field.
Many Faunus originally panicked at the sudden shift in power. While the population ratio between humans and Faunus have been, for a lack of a better world, evenly matched, the sudden arrival and merging of another world had shifted that ratio in favor of the humans. Even the more bloodthirsty (IE, stupider and more fanatic members of the White Fang) had realized that attacking the humans, kingdoms and countries of Earth would be a very, very bad idea.
Before, they might have had a sliver slim of a chance at defeating the kingdoms but not anymore. No, if the Faunus try to commit genocide on the humans, it'll be the end of Faunus kind.
Before, action was needed as talking wasn't working. But now?
Now action would only be counterproductive. Hell, everyone within Adam's cell agreed with her on that, all but the man himself, which didn't surprise her in the slightest. Truth be told. Adam had ever right to be anger and vengeful. His entire past, from his birth in the SDC mines, to slave working his entire childhood then being branded at age seven for defying the humans and ultimately being picked up by the White Fang at ten years old.
But despite this or rather, because of those facts, Sienna believed he was mentally unstable and as time passed, her belief became more true. Adam was good in a fight but that was it.
Only good for fighting.
Couple that with his slowly deteriorating mind and bloodlust, he had no tact with no people skills or skills in diplomacy. The man before her was becoming more and more of a liability, one that she did not need at the moment. The only reason she didn't cut him off sooner, was because he was a symbol to many in her organization but even those that idolize Adam, were losing faith in him.
She had hoped as time would go on, his grudge against the humans would be tempered like a fine blade but instead, it became more of a blunt object. Hurting everything and everyone it touched. Sienna began to fear that same grudge would doom the rest of them and if she allowed him to go on with this, it WILL doom all of Faunus kind.
It had to stop.
Now.
"Ghira and Kali have been invited by the UN to the summit within the next few hours. I and two teams of my choosing will accompany to the summit, to hopefully make new allies in our new world. And before you say it, yes i will be making an alliance with the humans, as we have done before, when Ghira was our leader. That is the way things are now and if the Faunus are to survive, we need allies, even if they're humans. Like it or not, that is the world we have found ourselves in and if we don't adapt, we are finished."
Adam's gritted his teeth so hard, it was shocking he hadn't broken a molar yet. No matter how much he wanted to protest, he knew she was right, no matter much how much he wanted to protest. Vengeful and hateful as he was, even he acknowledge it would be sheer suicide to attack the humans at the summit. His plans to take the White Fang from Sienna and create his own private army, after destroying Beacon to increase his own reputation, swaying those loyal to Sienna to him, had been put on hold because of the sudden merging of worlds.
"Perhaps i can use this."
Maybe he could use Sienna's own plans to create an alliance with the humans and twist it to those who were more, how you say, radical to the cause to make HIM the high leader and de-throne Sienna.
But for now, he'd stay his hand.
"You are not the woman i followed before, Khan."
"I am the same woman i've have always been Adam. It's you who has change these past for years and not for the better."
Sienna then glared at the bull Faunus and said,"When i get back, we will be taking about you're position within the White Fang."
Somewhere in Mistral, Amina Forest
"You've got a lot of nerve showing up here brother. What do you want?"
"Lets not beat around the bush Raven, i known what you're planning and let me tell you, all you're doing is making it easier for Xero to kill you. If he doesn't, you'll be making it a hell of a late worse for the rest of us."
"I have no idea what-"
"No! DON'T! Don't even try it Raven, i KNOWN you and you won't someone as powerful as the Avengers, Xero and Gudako alone. If you try anything, you, you're fucked up tribe WILL be wiped off the face of this world Raven. If they decide to hunt you and you're tribe down, nothing and no one will save you. not even you're prized Spring Maiden could stop them."
The oldest of the Branwen twins stiffed, as he blood red eye narrowed,"You know?"
"Wasn't that hard to figure out. Not after seeing the damage you left behind."
Deep within the forest of Amina, based out of the kingdom of Mistral was the illusive bandit tribe, the Branwens. Surrounded by a quick, make shift wooden barrier that protected the large encampment, the members of the bandit tribe were watching the scene of their leader, Raven arguing with her twin brother and tratior to the tribe, Qrow.
Like Qrow, Raven had pale skin, deep blood red eyes compared to Qrow's pinkish red ones and her pitch black hair, was a dead ringer for Xero's own hair style. Tied in a pony tail, that looked like quills from behind. Unlike Qrow however, Raven wore red forearm armor on her arms, a shallow cut black and red dress with black shorts underneath, with series of beaded necklaces and a belt that wrapped around her waist and carried her weapon's sheath. Attached also is a long black object that is either fur or feathers, with a red and white bandana material like hanging from behind her. Her forearms bear red armored gauntlets that protrude outwards and black fingerless gloves. She wore black mid-thigh high leggings with red splatter patterns and black heels.
In fact, the clothing color pattern, pale skin, facial structure and the fucking hair style remind Qrow so much of Xero, it was scary how the two looked so alike. If Qrow didn't known any better, he'd say the two were related.
"No, that's impossible. Kid's from an entirely different world, there's no way they'd be related."
Plenty of people looked like others and weren't related in anyway. It was just one big coincidence and nothing more, right.
Right?
Looking at Raven now and comparing it, to the kid's face, Qrow found himself not wanting to find out for certain.
The headache simply wasn't worth it.
Raven merely cocked her head, as she said,"You never know brother, it could have been someone else entirely. Out here, in the Grimmlands, you never really, truly known with these kinds of things. Besides, i want to stay out of Ozpin's little war and not draw Salem's ire, having a Maiden on my side, wouldn't just drag me back in the war, it would put me right in the middle of it. Going after the Avengers would be just as bad, if not WORSE for me in both, the short and long run."
Qrow bit back a remark. Damn, she made a good point there and he couldn't deny the logic there. Still, Qrow knew his sister and ever since the truth of Remnant was revealed to them by Ozpin, Qrow knew something in Raven had changed.
Looking back, he should have realized it but he was, ummm younger and foolish. Now that he was more...experienced, NOT old, he could clearly see how distraught and terrified Raven had been to learn the truth and who could blame her?
The fact Remnant was in fact really, truly abandoned by the gods of light and darkness after creating mankind. Not only that but they left behind four, powerful relic's that quite literally embodied the aspects of Choice, Destruction, Creation and Knowledge, then how about the fact the Grimm, creatures that have hunted mankind had a gods damn queen!
One that has been trying to destroy mankind(And Faunus kind too) by collecting the four relic's. Ones, that once brought together they could do ANYTHING!
In the hands of someone that wants to destroy all life on Remnant, it's only natural to be sacred and want to do everything they could, to ensure that kind of power doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
"Now i can't even tell if Raven is the better or worst version of those 'wrong hands'".
Sighing, Qrow spoke,"Look Raven i'm here to tell you, don't try anything stupid. You won't survive otherwise."
"Oh trust me brother, i have no intention of doing anything foolish."
Raven said simply, as she looked at her brother with a scowl and said,"Unlike, i'm not going to fight a pointless war. Oh no, i'll merely point out to the monster, where he can find an even stronger monster. That's all."
Present Time
"Oww...fuck, who the hell thought a bomb was a good idea?"
Xero grumbled to himself, as he quickly regained his bearings, as he had jumped to cover both Levi and the red hooded girl when he heard Sasha yell "Get down". Good thing too, otherwise they would have been crushed by the pieces of the fallen ceiling. Levi might be strong and, in his own words "A freak of nature" but not even he could survive getting crushed by thirty tons of concrete. His armor took most of the damage, leaving him mostly unharmed.
Grunting, Xero looked at the two under him and asked,"Hey, Levi, red hood you alright?"
"Fine."
Levi grunted out, his ears ringing from the explosion. Damnit, he knew Xero and Erwin's plan would be a long shot and one that would possible get people killed, given how utterly desperate the enemy forces of HYDRA were, them planting a bomb should have been predicted.
Expected even.
"Ummm, i'm fine too."
The two men looked down at the small girl that had been shielded from the blast by the two, who was blushing at being under them. Despite being fifteen and no matter what Yang and her parents thought, Ruby understood...certain things. Like how two boys on top of a girl, usually leads to certain actions. Ones she saw on Yang's scroll history.
Damnit Yang!
Grunting again, Levi rolled onto his side and got up, after Xero got up from his prone form across the two. Levi checked his ODM gear, as Xero offered a hand to the young girl that he helped save from becoming mush on the ground. One does not want to become "Mush" as becoming mush, would be a very bad thing.
"Thanks."
Ruby said, dusting herself off, mentally thanking her mother and uncle for all the hard training, they put her through.
"Master/My queen!"
Before more could be said, Ruby saw the blonde armored knight and the beastly woman that looked like a Faunus with two animal features suddenly appeared out of thin air next to him, looking worried.
"I'm fine, no need to worry."
Xero said, before they could ask as he wiped some rubble off his armored shouldered. Looking around to see the level of destruction around the meeting room, he asked,"I trust there are no casualties."
"None, it's just like you predicted. HYDRA tried to kill the world leaders but Sasha was able to hear the bombs before they went off. There are some injured but no one is dead my queen. Everyone else is helping civilians get out."
"Good, still though, bombs. That's just messy and honestly a bit desperate."
Xero said with a sigh, as Levi spoke,"Is that really surprising? You've been stopping their operations, destroying their bases, killing their soldiers and fucking them all seven ways to Sunday. Of course they'd pull out all the stops. If everything else fail, at the very least they would want to kill you. You've got a real knack for pissing off powerful people off."
"More or less, iv'e got a knack for just pissing everyone off."
Xero said simply, as he looked at the blonde knight,"And is Gudako-"
"Yes my queen, she's already got the second phase of the plan underway. She'll make ensure our...guests don't leave, without releasing consequences of their actions."
"Been a long time coming. It's too bad, i won't be there to see their faces, once they realize they're plans are about to crash and burn."
Ruby for her part, had absolutely no idea what was going on or what they were talking about. The entire conversation was going over her head and while she did read up on something called "HYDRA". Some sort of scientific group that worked for the bad guys but defected and became even bigger bad guys and tried to take over the world, only to be stopped by Captain America.
What, Weiss tried to drill those facts into her head, so she wouldn't make herself(And the rest of the team) like fools. Too bad she mostly tuned out Weiss for the most part, far too boring for her.
Politics were so boring!
"LOOK OUT!"
Ruby's world suddenly whirled, when
BANG
A bullet almost killed her!
Ruby didn't have anytime to react, as the short man, Levi!, pulled her behind him-
CLUNG
When a black/purple colored scythe suddenly blocked a a sword, covered in some sort of energy. The red hooded girl could barely blink, as the would be killers were forced back and now that she wasn't being jerked around, Ruby could get a good look at who suddenly attacked them.
"Damn boy, even after nearly being blown up, you're skills are as sharp as ever. I would say i'm impressed but freaks of nature like us, don't get such luxuries apply to us. Ain't that right, tasky?"
"...It really doesn't matter to me. You're doing this for money Ackerman. Me? I'm doing this, to test myself against the legendary 'phantom technique' created by Mazoku's mother. She was the only person to ever escape me and i have been waiting for this moment."
And oh boy, they looked far worse then that Torchwick creep.
One had a smoking barrel gun, clearly the one who nearly killed her!
He is a very tall and slim man who appeared to be well-built. He had short, coarse-looking dark hair that reached to his neck and also had a thin beard along his jawline. He had the appearance of a middle-aged man with wrinkles around his eyes, which were small and piercing. He was mostly seen wearing a simple white shirt with a black tie that was never fully done up, and a large black overcoat that reached past his knees. He also had a bowler hat with a white band around it. He wore ODM gear but it looked more like a prototype with a one shot barrel, rather then a multiple hitter pistol.
Ruby almost gasped, Roman Torchwick 2.0!
Creeper 2.0!
The other one, was far more menacing and dangerous looking, even though he didn't have the out dated looking ODM gear.
He, like the other man, was tall and with a much more muscular body type. he wore a militarized body suit, wields an energy blade, and dons a helmet that resembles a stylized skull. He also wears a gray hood, and the costume has darker colors overall.
"Kenny/Taskmaster."
The two protecting her? said, one in angry and the other in what she assumed was, controlled even tone.
"What do you think you're doing Kenny? You realize what you've done right, what you tried to do has just put you on ever wanted list in the WORLD."
The man known as Kenny The Ripper, merely mouth back to Levi,"Yeah well, adults do lots of stuff little brats like you wouldn't understand. Oh wait, i forgot, you are an adult but you're still just a runt."
"Hey! Just because i haven't grown, doesn't mean i won't! I. Drink. Milk!"
All eyes zoomed on Ruby, as she spoke more out of habit at hearing the word:
Runt.
She hated being called that, as her uncle and sister often called her runt, just to get under her skin. But then she realized this Kenny guy was talking to Levi and not her, making her shrink in on herself,"Nevermind."
"Right, Taskmaster, why are you here?"
Xero asked, shaking his head at Ruby's antics, as he glared at the merc,"I'm pretty sure attacking the world leaders would hurt you're business."
"Maybe, but with the bounty on you're head, even if i spilt it ten ways, i'll be set up for ten lives."
The larger man said, drawing his sword and shield,"Besides, iv'e always wanted to test myself against you're mother. But since she's gone and it's clear, you've surpassed her, you'll be an even greater prize."
"Is that so?"
Xero growled out, as he pulled Havester apart, creating two smaller scythes(Much to Ruby's delight) and slid into a fighting stance. His knee's slightly bent forward and the scythes behind his back, crossed as Levi readied his own swords.
"Saber, Berserker make sure no one interferes."
"Understood my queen/master!"
"Levi..."
Xero sent a look to his friend,"You take Kenny, i take Mister Tasky boy here?"
Levi nodded, as he got into his own fighting stance, with one sword pointed away and the other pointed at his Uncle.
"Sounds good kid. Don't die on me, otherwise Erwin will have my ass."
Done and oh boy oh boy!
We've got a clash of titans next chapter! Find out what happens next time!
Devil out!
