4 months later
Today was finally it! Ash could hardly believe it. He was finally going to go out on the field for the first time as Lucario's official partner! All day at school he couldn't stop from being happy, heck not even Paul and his gang could stop him from being cheerful
As soon as school was over, Ash was out the door in record time making everyone wonder what could possibly be up with the teen since he hadn't acted like this since his father died. Gary although surprised by this, was happy to see his childhood friend acting like he had long ago and hoped whatever it was, wouldn't end
Currently Ash- no Riolu, man was it cool to finally refer to himself by his hero name, was sitting on top of a random rooftop across from the police station. He pulled his dark tinted googles currently resting around his neck over his eyes. After insisting on not wanting a mask due to not finding them comfortable, Riley gave him special googles delivered from Wayne Tech to be included in his costume
Speaking of his costume, he had based his costume on what little information there was on Riolu and Wiccan from Marvel. He wore a black colored long mess of a cape with a hood covering his raven hair, a dark blue coloured combat suit underneath the messy cape and black leather boots
This was a view very few get to experience and he couldn't wait to see the rest of the city since it tends to get lively at night. He noticed Riley- no Lucario talking with Detective Maple, May's father who he had yet to meet. Lucario had told him to wait up here while he got information, so Riolu was left to watch the cars and people walking about
Seeing his mentor done and moving away from the police station, Riolu jumped down from the rooftop and landed behind Lucario. He was glad for all that month they had spent on him learning to travel through rooftops, otherwise Riolu was sure he would have made a fool out of himself
"Ready for your debut on the field?" Lucario asked him as the young aura user nodded, trying hard to contain his excitement
"That's a rhetorical question, right? I'm pumped! What are we doing? Do we get to fight anyone? Oh is it Gengar or Bisharp? Maybe Giratina!" Riolu excitedly said with Lucario holding back a laugh at seeing his protégé so excited
"I thought I'd let you patrol the east side of town while I do the west. Given your up for the task"
Riolu could hardly believe that Lucario was trusting him to patrol on his own. Maybe this was why he was asked to memorize the layout of Viridian City... which took him 2 months! Seeing as he had yet to respond to the question, he nodded
"Here, any trouble you run into that you think you can't handle, use this commlink and contact me. Don't engage if you know your outnumbered or unable to win" the older aura user seriously said as the teen took the small communication device and placed it on "Also try not to get into any trouble"
"Trouble seems to find me, but I'll do my best!" taking off, Ash sighed in content. He jumped from rooftop to rooftop, scanning for any hint of trouble... so far there was none. The young aura user pouted at the lack of crime on his first day out, talk about disappointing
However, seems that he was wrong about the quiet as he noticed a couple of police cars rushing towards what was most likely Viridian Museum. Deciding that he should check it out before calling his mentor, Riolu chased after the group
Viridian Museum
Having arrived faster than the police, Riolu was currently hiding above the group of thugs, who he recognized were part of Team Galactic. Although he would have rather faced the likes of a true villain, he wasn't about to let them get away with their plans... whatever they were
"Cyrus will be pleased once we retrieve the Lustrous Orb for him" said a female voice with purple hair
"We better hurry up. For all we know, there could be a hero or someone lurking in the shadows" said another female voice, as it belonged to the red haired one standing of to the side
The group of grunts who were currently deactivating the security systems, gave a happy cry as all the laser beams were now off. Yet Riolu could make out the camera which seemed to still be on... unless it was on loop or something
Deciding it better to engage rather than wait for them to get their hands on this Orb they so badly wanted, Ash drop kicked a random thug making him cry out as the group turned towards him in shock
"Sorry to drop in unannounced, but if you're in the need for some orbs I'm sure the ornament shop is still open" the aura user said in a cocky voice
The purple haired woman laughed "A teenager! Seriously, first a vigilante and now a teenager. Can the police not do their own work? Now they bring in teenagers to do it for them"
"Jupiter..." the red haired one said in a sorta warning voice. She knew better than to underestimate someone, especially since most of her life she's been underestimated herself
"Relax Mars. What could junior possibly do?" Jupiter asked, as Mars sighed. Hey, she tired to warn her
Riolu knew better than to let the words get to him, but he nonetheless felt insulted "First it's Riolu and I'll show you what this 'junior' can really do... that is unless you're to chicken to fight against a kid" he mockingly said at the end, resitting the urge to smirk as he saw Jupiter shaking in rage at the jab
"You little brat, grunts forget the orb! Take down the brat!" she screamed as Mars could only face palm. Jupiter took the bait alright. Deciding it best not get involved, the red head stayed in place and waited for the show
The grunts stopped what they were doing and all of them suddenly had what looked like escrima sticks in their hands as two suddenly leapt forward, charging with their sticks raised high
'Here's to hoping all those combat lessons with Riley were worth it'
Waiting for the last second, Riolu moved out of the way and as fast as he could grabbed the legs of the closest grunt and pulled him down onto the concrete
The rest of the grunts surrounded Ash, all of them circling around him. Although Ash had mostly done one on one, he was lucky to have trained slightly with multiple opponents
Keeping himself in place, the aura user waited for them to make the first move again. Many argue that it would be better if he made the first move, but Riolu felt that if he were to attack first, he'd be leaving himself open. Also, call him overconfident, but he wanted to toy with these grunts
Two grunts once again came at him, but Riolu ducked and swept the two towards the ground. Not wasting any time, another came swinging their stick as Riolu rolled out of the way and saw one of the grunts on the ground get hit instead
The pattern repeated with each time Riolu having the upper hand somehow, as if he knew when and where they would be attacking
"You idiots! He's one against all of you! Grab him or something!"
The grunts launched at the aura user and grabbed his arms, holding him in place. What no one knew was that this was exactly what Riolu wanted once Jupiter ordered to capture him
Using his aura to enhance his strength, Riolu reverse roundhouse kicked the grunt on his left, making him cry out in pain and letting go. The grunt still holding on had no time to react as Riolu got onto the ground and grabbed his arm, flipping him onto the ground hard
The remaining grunts were able to get a couple of hits in, but Riolu was soon able to turn the tables on them and cause them to end up like their comrades
Mars at this point was literally considering leaving since she knew there was no way the police hadn't been called... and if they were already here, they were probably surrounding the place. Cyrus was going to punish them if they got out of this prison free... especially after failing at capturing the Adamant Orb
"You're all useless!" Jupiter angrily said as the grunts all tremble in fear "If you want something done, best to do it yourself"
Without warning, Riolu suddenly got smashed to the ground. Getting back onto his feet he couldn't help but noticed the metallic taste of blood and he realized he was bleeding somewhere. However, he didn't worry much since his healing would kick in soon. Besides he couldn't afford to get distracted again
Hearing a weapon being drawn, Riolu saw a sword suddenly in her hands. Seeing two escrima sticks lying close to him, Riolu rolled out of the incoming strike and grabbed the two sticks. He could just as easily use his aura to win this, but Riolu wanted to play this out using his own skills with only getting help from his aura sensing and heighten strength/stamina
Jupiter swung her sword and Riolu realized she was acting like he was that day he was mad at Serena. She was attacking recklessly and that could cost her this battle if played right
Dodging all her attacks, he jumped, ducked and even used some gymnastic skills he had Riley teach him so he could add them into his fighting style
Seeing that one sword wasn't enough to take down this brat, Jupiter unleashed her second blade
Cursing, Riolu knew he now needed to do more than just dodge, he needed to defend and attack. He couldn't win this by dodging the entire time
Jupiter raised both swords high, intending to strike down, but to her surprise Riolu used the twin escrima sticks in his hands to block her attack. Taking advantage of her shock, he delivered a side kick, making her stumble backwards
Jupiter was about to continue, when she saw something blue hurtling towards her as it crashed into her. Now pinned to the wall, the purple haired woman looked shocked to see what looked like glowing blue ninja star and knife shaped projectiles holding her in place
Even Mars looked shocked by the turn of events. Seems she was right in not underestimating him, junior was clearly like one of those meta-humans she'd heard all about
Suddenly the museum door was slammed open as Lucario and multiple police officers appeared. Jupiter at this cursed as she knew what this meant and sighed in defeat
Mars once again knew better than to get involved as she slowly held her hands in surrender
"What took you all so long?" was all Riolu said as Lucario sighed, but was nonetheless proud of his protégé at having made sure the Orb wasn't stolen
Few minutes later
"In other news, today a new vigilante has made their debut. Calling himself Riolu, he was able to take down Team Galactic from stealing at the Viridian Museum. What's more interesting about our new teenage hero is that he's the protégé of Lucario"
Delia could only wonder what the heroes these days were thinking of, letting teenagers fight! If she were a hero or that teenager's mother, no way would she allow her child to get involved
"How was your day studying at Riley's?" Delia asked as soon as she heard the door open. She didn't even look up to see the condition of her son, who in turn looked tired and messy
Stopping before the stairs, Ash took a moment to answer his mother's question
"It was interesting" was all Ash said, going up towards his room. He had to admit, today was pretty fun!
I did say there was going to be a time jump and we finally see Ash's debut as Riolu! I still suck at fighting scenes, but I'm trying my best here, so try not to attack me if possible, they are not easy to describe or write to be honest. Also Jupiter and Mars from Team Galactic have made their appearance too! Lastly the last bit with Delia and Ash was slightly inspired by the first episode of Henry Danger when he returns home after his first day at his job. Anyway till next time where Ash deals with being an internet sensation ;)
