The story opens in Mrs. Johnson's class, where the students are admiring a spider in a tank.
"Hey, Frank," Lincoln murmured.
"Frank!" yelled a classmate. "Over here, buddy!"
"He's so cool!" exclaimed Clyde.
"He's such a cutie," Keito commented.
"I agree, Keito," J.D. added. "Frankie is a cute little spider."
"Now, before we pack up, I need a volunteer to look after Frank this weekend while I'm out of town," Mrs. Johnson explained.
The kids all volunteered to look after him, especially Lincoln.
"Come on, please, Mrs. Johnson!" Lincoln pleaded. "Me! Me!"
"Lincoln," Mrs. Johnson said.
"Yes!" shouted Lincoln.
"Way to go, Lincoln!" cheered Clyde.
"All right, buddy," J.D. said as he congratulated him.
All the other kids moan in disappointment.
"Now, Lincoln, this is a major responsibility," Mrs. Johnson continued. "Frank needs to be fed twice, and under no circumstances should he be let out of his cage, unlike me this weekend." She chuckled at her joke.
The kids all awkwardly glance at each other about what their teacher meant on that last part and the bell rings.
"Well, see you Monday, Mrs. Johnson," Lincoln responded. He picks up Frank's cage and heads home. "Check it out, Laney! I get to watch Frank this weekend. Cool, huh?"
Laney felt uneasy as she looked at Frank. "Yeah, that's great Lincoln... Now, do you mind if you put that tank away from me?"
"What's wrong?" Lincoln asked. "Don't you like spiders?"
"No, it's not that I don't like them," Laney clarified. "It's just that they creep me out, no offense, Keito."
"None was taken, Laney," Keito responded.
Later, J.D., Varie, Aylene, Keito, Lincoln, Laney, and Clyde walked home.
"This is going to be the best weekend ever!" Lincoln declared.
"I know," J.D. agreed.
"I'm more concerned about Frank being around everyone," Varie added.
"Yeah," Clyde agreed. "I'm not sure your sister Leni will agree; remember Halloween two years ago?"
Flashback to Halloween from 2 years ago; the doorbell rings.
Leni was dressed like a flamingo. "I got it!" She says as she opens the door to find Clyde dressed as a spider.
"Trick or tre-" Clyde began to say.
Leni yelled, "AAAHH! SPIDER," and sprayed bug spray all over, and trampled Clyde as she ran out the door.
"I'm all right…" Clyde replied.
End flashback
"She hid in her room for three weeks," Clyde added.
"I saw that," J.D. replied. "It was back during the Bossy Lori fiasco, and she had a severe case of Arachnophobia – the Fear of Spiders."
"Yeah," Keito answered. "I remember you telling me that Leni was afraid of spiders while we were fighting at Yokai Academy."
"That's right, Keito," J.D. replied.
Lincoln comes to a halt and turns to face the viewers, saying, "If I had to worry about my sisters every time I wanted to do something, I'd never do anything. Besides," he continued to Clyde, "I have a plan. Stealth mode." He waves his hand in front of his face, changes his expression, and sneaks into the house.
"Now I'm worried," Clyde admitted.
"Me too," Laney added.
"Same here," Varie remarked.
"Let's follow him just in case," Aylene suggested.
Lincoln opens the door to see whether Leni is there.
"SPIDER!" screamed Leni as she was chased by Luan, who was holding a rubber spider over her face. "GET IT AWAY! GET IT AWAY!"
Luan cried out, "Aw, come on. It's fake."
"Luan, you always know how to make me laugh!" says Eddy, laughing uncontrollably.
Lincoln conceals Frank's tank with a trench coat, and when he hears Walt chirping, he covers up his cage with a hoodie. J.D., Varie, Aylene, Keito, and Lincoln made it to his and Linka's room and uncovered Frank's tank.
"There you go, buddy," Lincoln remarked.
Linka is in bed, sick with the stomach flu." "Hey Lincoln," she groans. "Uh oh!" She reaches for the trash can next to her bed and throws up in it.
"Boy, that's a nasty stomach bug," J.D. noticed.
"No kidding," Linka agreed.
Someone is knocking on the door, and it turns out to be Lana holding Lola's doll.
Lana asks, "Can I use the big kid scissors?" She looks around and gasps when she sees Frank. "Hey, what's that? Oh-ho! He's so creepy! Can I play with him? Can I?"
"No, no," Lincoln answered. "Frank stays in the cage."
"Aw..." muttered Lana, in disappointment.
Lola enters, furious. "Lana, give me back my dolly!" She gasps and squeals when she sees Frank. "He's so adorable!"
"Has Leni seen this?" asked the twins.
"No," Lincoln replied, "and we want to keep it that way, don't we? So, shh."
"We're trying not to let that happen," J.D. explained.
Lisa walked into the room. "Excuse me, some of us are trying to solve for Y." She saw Frank. "Ooh! Is that an aphonopelma chalcodes?"
"Uh... it's a tarantula," Lincoln clarified. "My class calls him Frank."
"He's Lincoln's class pet spider, and Mrs. Johnson has given Lincoln the task of having him watch over him over the weekend," J.D. explained.
Lisa gets a closer look, as do the twins, who are in awe. "Fascinating specimen; has Leni seen this?"
"No!" Lincoln retorted. "That's why I'm trying to keep him a..."
In no time, all of the other sisters who aren't Leni, Jeri, Naruto, Sakura, Ino, Fu, Hinata, Pakura, Jessie, Woody, and Eddy are gathered around Frank's tank, ogling him.
"...secret," Lincoln muttered.
The girls kept looking at him.
"Has Leni seen it?" Luna asked.
"Guys, for the last time!" Lincoln shouted. "Leni's not going to see-"
Leni opened the door. "See what?"
Everyone shouted "NOTHING," covering Frank's tank.
Leni gasps and her siblings gasp back.
"Oh, my gosh!" gasped Leni, "Are you planning a surprise party for me?! Wait! Don't tell me. I want to be surprised." She then leaves the room.
The others sigh with relief.
"Whew!" cried Varie. "That was a close one."
"You better know what you're doing, Lincoln," Lori whispered as she left with the others. "That was close."
"Me too, big brother," Lily added.
"Me, Varie, Aylene, and Keito are heading downstairs, Lincoln," J.D. explained.
"Okay guys," Lincoln replied.
They walked out of his room.
Lincoln looks in the tank and notices Frank is upset.
"Hey, buddy, you look a little sluggish," Lincoln observed. "I bet you'd like to get out and stretch your legs. I guess a few minutes wouldn't hurt." He carefully lifts Frank from his tank and places him in his drawer. "Now, where did I put those crickets?" he asks, pulling them from his backpack. "Maybe that'll cheer you up." He notices he's gone. "Frank? Where'd you go? Frank, come out! This isn't funny!" He stops. "Crud..." He takes out a magnifying glass and searches for Frank. "Where are you, Frank? Where are you? Where are you?" He ran into the twins.
"Who's where?" asked the twins.
"There you are! The two cutest twins in town! Found 'em! See ya!" Lincoln said, feigning relief. He takes off.
"He was talking about me," Lola revealed.
"I sure hope so," Lana answered.
The twins continue skipping rope while Lincoln examines Lisa's research table and knocks over a few of her beakers.
"What in Schrodinger's Cat!?" Lisa shouted.
"Sorry, Lis!" Lincoln apologized. "I'll clean it up later."
An explosion occurs which blows Cliff away and Lynn comes running out of her room playing basketball, which worries Lincoln.
"Lynn!" Lincoln yelled. "Freeze!"
Lynn goes completely still. "Are we playing Freeze Tag? Cool!"
Lincoln goes into Luna and Luan's room and is hit on the head with Luna's drumstick during her jam session.
"Ow!" cried Lincoln.
"Dude!" shouted Luna.
"Really dig what you're laying down there, sis!" Lincoln said, checking their closet for a spider and sees one and mistakes it for Frank. "Gotcha!"
Luan removed her Groucho Marx glasses while reading a book called Comedy for Dummies. "What are you doing with my fake spider?"
"Fake?" Lincoln questioned."Oh, nothing," he says as he hands it back. "Here, and here's your fake dog poop."
"I don't have any fake dog poop," Luan replies, and Lincoln recoils in disgust. "Just kidding!"
They both laugh, and Lincoln resumes his search.
"Where are you? Where are you? Where are you?" Lincoln asks, checking under the bathroom door.
Lori yanks open the door. "What are you doing, you weirdo?!"
"I'm...uh...looking for my contact lens!" Lincoln responded, "Oh! There it is!" He picks up a lint ball and puts it into his eye, causing it to squint. "That's better," he says as he ran by Lynn, who is still standing there.
Lynn clenched her teeth and asked, "Can I unfreeze now?"
J.D. senses something and exclaims, "Uh oh! I sense a disturbance in the Force!"
"Me too," Varie added.
In a panic, Lincoln shouted, "Crud, crud, crud!"
The others push the door open.
"Alright, Lincoln!" Lori remarked. "You don't wear contacts! What's going on?"
"You've been acting even weirder than usual, bro," Luna noted.
"Yeah," Lola agreed. "There's no way you think Lana is cute."
Lana picks her nose in agreement and they demand answers.
"Okay, I'll tell you!" Lincoln decided. "Well, Frank was looking sluggish, so I took him out of his cage to get a little exercise, and then I turned to get the crickets, and he was gone."
"Lincoln!" gasped J.D.
The girls rant about Lincoln's stupidity and their fear of Leni finding out about Frank; Leni appears.
"What are we whispering about?" Leni asked. "Oh right! My surprise party! Don't worry, I won't tell me!"
When she turns around, Frank is seen on her back, and the others scream in horror and follow them to the kitchen.
"See?" Leni said. "I know nothing. I'm just making a smoothie." She opened the fridge to get her ingredients.
When she turns her back, Frank is gone; they murmur about the issue at hand and worry about what might happen next.
"Oh, I need milk," Leni says as she opens the fridge and where Frank was on the milk bottle.
"Leni!" shouted J.D.
"Wait!" Lisa yelled as she slammed the fridge shut. "Your lactose intolerant!"
"No, I'm not," Leni replied. "I'm tolerant of everyone, whether they lack toes or not." She opened the fridge again.
"NOOOO!" screamed the siblings. They noticed Frank was no longer in that spot. "Huh?" They sighed, relieved.
Frank is scurrying across the floor when Luna traps him under a pot; Leni turns around to see what's going on, and Luna and Lily pretend to have a jam session by banging pots, pans, and utensils together; Leni digs the beat; but because she's too distracted by the tune, they look under the pot to see Frank has escaped once more.
"So, who wants to try my new recipe?" Leni asked. "It's curds and..." she says, sipping her drink as Lincoln notices Frank on the ceiling light. "...way, way too much spinach!" Her siblings gasp. "Ugh! I know! What was I thinking?"
Frank landed directly on her glass.
Leni, thinking it was fake, said, "Ha! Nice try, Luan, but I'm not falling for another one of your fake spiders. Though this one looks pretty real."
"Uh," J.D. began. "THAT'S BECAUSE IT IS REAL!" he yelled, panicking.
Frank blinks, leading Leni to realize... "AAAHH! SPIDER!" she screams, pulling out the bug spray.
"Oh no, you don't!" Varie rebuked.
Varie fires a blast of water and forms a protective bubble around Frank, while Leni unleashes a large spray cloud to ensure she gets Frank.
"WORST SURPRISE PARTY EVER!" yelled Leni as she stormed away.
The gas has cleared, but the water bubble remains, and Frank is fine.
"That was a close one," Varie concluded.
"Nice save, Varie," Keito commented.
"Yeah," J.D. agreed. "Lincoln, go get Frank's cage. We'll make sure Leni doesn't come back."
Lincoln replied, "Okay." He then goes to his room and returns carrying Frank's cage.
Lincoln has Frank in his cage.
"Yeah!" Lori agreed. "This is all Leni's fault!"
"I agree," replied Gabrielle in a British accent, "Leni can't get over her fear of Spiders."
The others agree except Lincoln.
"Guys, this isn't Leni's fault," Lincoln explained. "It's mine."
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Leni is washing her hands to remove any traces of Frank.
Laney put a hand on his shoulder. "I know you wanted to take care of him, but I can tell it was a huge responsibility. I wish I could've helped you despite my dislike of spiders."
Leni overhears Lincoln and exclaims, "Ew! Ew! Ew!"
"No, Laney, it's all my fault," Lincoln admitted. "I knew Leni was afraid of spiders, but I brought Frank home, anyway. It was a bad idea. I guess I deserve to have my whole class hate me."
"If they're going to hate you, they're going to have to hate me too," Keito added. "I may be a Jorōgumo, but I have feelings and compassion."
"Thanks, Keito," Lincoln replied.
Cliff coughs up a hairball way too soon.
"Ew!" shrieked Lola. "Gross, Cliff! Show some respect!"
"He's a cat, Lola," J.D. explained. "That's what they do."
"AAAHH! SPIDER!"
"Is there another spider in there?" Lincoln wondered.
"I don't think so, and that wasn't Leni," Clyde replied. "I know that scream."
"Yeah," J.D. agreed. "That was Mr. Lynn."
Another flashback to last Halloween: Clyde had come in after Leni had mistaken him for a spider and attacked him.
Clyde coughs slightly. "Oh, hi, Mr. Loud. Trick or tre-"
Lynn Sr. yells, "AAAHH! SPIDER!" and tramples Clyde before running after Leni.
"I'm alright," Clyde answered.
End flashback
"Dad's afraid of spiders?" Luna asked, grinning.
"Now I know where Leni got it," Varie commented.
Out front, a pest control van arrives.
"And it looks like he's got the exterminator on speed dial!" added Lori, concerned.
"Uh-oh!" gasped Keito.
The kids watch as the exterminator gets out of his van and notices two caterpillars.
"Oh, hello, cute little caterpillar family," muttered the exterminator, before shooting them with bug spray and laughing wickedly.
"It's all right, sir," Lincoln tried to reassure the man. "There's been a misunderstanding. You do not have to kill the spider."
"Huh," the exterminator muttered. "What are you, a spider hugger? Nobody stops me from getting my spider..."
He enters the house to find and kill Frank.
"I've got to go stop him!" Lincoln declared.
Lynn was still in her freeze tag pose, her teeth clenched. "We can help!"
"I can help, too," Clyde offered.
They all ask Lincoln to allow them to help him.
"Okay," Lincoln agreed. "Let's go!"
The others go in to do their jobs, but Lynn is hopping around; Lincoln runs up to her and tags her. "Unfreeze."
Lynn now hustles.
The exterminator notices a sign that says, "Spider This Way."
The arrow points to the Simulator. The Exterminator was in the Simulator, as were Keito, Lola, Laney, Lana, Luan, and Varie.
J.D. and Lisa were in the Control Room.
"This is going to be good," J.D. predicted.
The Simulator activated, and they found themselves in the middle of a huge dense forest.
"Hey, where am I?" questioned the exterminator.
"You're about to get your butt kicked," Laney threatened. "If you want to get to the spider, you've got to go through us. Let's find out what you're most afraid of." She makes mouse noises, and a swarm of mice scurries toward him.
The exterminator screamed, "AAAAAAAHHH! MICE!" In utter fear, he climbs a tree.
"How about this Batty Development?!" Luan asked. She creates a colony of Pure Light Bats that fly around the exterminator.
"BATS!" yelled the exterminator. "AAAAAHHH!" With a loud crash, he fell from the tree.
"How about this?" Lola suggested. "FIRE STYLE: RED SPIDER!"
Lola created a massive fire spider and charged at the Exterminator, who jumped out of the way.
"That was not funny, you UGLY Brat!" growled the Exterminator.
They all let out gasps. He just made a huge mistake.
"Uh-Oh!" cried Luan. "He's in for it now!"
Lola became enraged, and her face grew bright red. Her aura of fire exploded, igniting all the trees in the area, and everything caught fire.
Lola screamed in hatred and fury. "NO ONE! CALLS! ME! UGGGGLLLYY!"
With immense hatred and fury, Lola attacked the exterminator and viciously crushed him into oblivion. When she came to a stop twenty minutes later, Lola realized what had happened and started crying, and Laney comforted her.
The exterminator was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with Lola Shock Syndrome.
The exercise was over. It was all a ruse.
"That takes care of that," Lincoln said.
"I heard what you said outside," Leni explained. "And besides, maybe spiders aren't so bad after all."
"I always thought Frank was an odd name for a female spider," Lisa commented.
"Frank's a girl?" Lincoln questioned.
"Mm-hmm," Lisa answered. "I can tell from the markings. Plus, female spiders always get sluggish before they give birth."
"That's quite a revelation," J.D. commented. "I had no idea about the markings, either."
"Frank's gonna be a mommy?" Clyde wondered.
"All right," Keito added.
"Aw..." the sisters gasped.
Monday
Frank has been renamed Frances, and all the sisters who aren't Leni bid her farewell.
"I'll miss you, Frank," Lincoln said, "but I'm glad things are going back to normal around here."
Leni is in her room, brushing her hair. "20...21...22...23…"
However, it seems that Frances laid her egg sac in the vents; the babies hatch and scurry into Leni's room.
"AAAAAAAHHHHH!" screamed Leni. "SPIDERS!"
J.D., Varie, Lincoln, Laney, Jeri, and Keito all had "Uh-oh" looks on their faces.
THE END
