Morning sunlight woke Dusk, he looked around the room he was in confused on where he was and how he got there. When he swung his leg off the too small couch caused a burning pulling sensation in his leg. Hissing a curse as realization sunk in on what happen the previous day. Dusk felt eyes on him, jerking his eyes to the doorway further into the cabin the small female stood with a tray of food. "Good you're awake, your leg had a nasty gash, sorry about your jeans. I hope it's even; I tried my best." Dusk sat up more as she approached realizing she'd cut the entire legs off his jeans. "Thank you." Sitting the tray on the coffee table she waved a dismissive hand. "You don't need to thank me. I'm Harriet and this handsome fellow is Duke." She sat in the chair facing him where Duke settled by her leg, she slowly moved her hand to Duke's head to stroke it. "We'll what's yours?"
Dusk swallowed a little trans fixed on her beauty with her closer. She had a gentle smile and playfulness that drew him in. The smatter of freckles seems to highlight her grey eyes. "Dusk." Her smile radiated as she watched him, her gaze seems to find his battered soul and deem it enough. "That's an unusual name, I like it. So Dusk, how'd you end up at my cabin?"
When Dusk remains silent to long Harriet continued speaking. "Get lost hunting? My idiot brother does that on occasion, more lately now that his favorite pastime is getting drunker than a skunk with his other idiot friends." Dusk growled in annoyance at the suggestion. Harriet tilted her head at the sound. "I do not drink and I do not get lost!" Harriet's smile slips a little at his sharp tone. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you." They fell silent a moment before she spoke. "I'm sorry Dusk, I'm not use to having decent conversation anymore. Only person I get visited by now is my brother, he hasn't been around since I kicked him out last.
She stood to walk away when Dusk instinctively reaches out grabbing her hand to stop her. The warm shock he felt surprised him and her small intake of air intrigued him. "You did not offend me, I am vocal sometimes, I am sorry. This food smells delicious, thank you." The smile returned to her face along with a slight blush. "I'm no Gordon Ramsey but I can make do. I figured with your injury and I assumed a large amount of blood loss you need some hearty meals in you." "Thank you."
They fell into a peaceful routine for the next couple days, enjoying each other's company. Dusk was recovering quickly but his leg was still stiff with how deep the cut was. Stepping out the back door of the cabin Dusk patted Duke's head who was laying on the porch, his eyes automatically sought out Harriet, he watched a moment as she hung clothes on the line. Dropping one of the clothes pins on the ground Harriet huffed in annoyance. "Stupid thing, how many more am I going to drop." Sitting the shirt back on the basket she bent down feeling around on the ground for the pin. Missing it several times in her search, Dusk step closer confused on why she didn't just pick it up. "You know boy you could just help a girl out; I wouldn't even be mad if you ate another one at this point." Dusk picked the pin up placing it in her searching hand. "Oh Dusk, thank you." Really observing her face, he realized she didn't turn toward him but looked ahead. "Harriet, can you not see?" Confusion crossed her face at his question. "You didn't notice? I'm blind Dusk, that's why Duke is always close by." So many things made sense, she didn't know what he was. "You cannot see me, what I look like?" Harriet laughs nervously as a bright blush covered her cheeks. "Not in the sense of seeing you with my eyes, I may have mapped you're face when you first got here. I can imagine you're very handsome, you've got high cheek bones and a strong jaw." Dusk found himself smiling at her embarrassment being found out. "But beside what my fingers can tell me the rest eludes me." Dusk warred with himself; he really enjoyed his time with her. He'd been toying with trying to convince her to return to Reservation with him, she was his, now his plan was blowing up. "Harriet..."
When he fell silent Harriet began to fidget with the clothes pin in her hand. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have caved to my curiosity." Dusk reach over to stop her fidgeting. "Never apologize for being curious, but we should talk." Her smile slipped a little. "What about? Is this because I'm blind, seriously it doesn't affect me anymore. I can do almost anything I use to do!" Taking her hand, he led her to the rocking chair on the porch. "No doubt about that, but what do you know about the NSO?"
