Chapter 4:
Dusk Meets An Outsider
Dusk ran across a log that led from Equestria to the Outlands, giggling to himself about how he sneaked past his aunts and how Fluttershy allowed him to go on his adventure. Dusk then stopped giggling when he got to the edge of the Outlands and looked at how desecrated it was in amazement. The Outland was a dark, dull purplish color, the air is somewhat misty, and the sky was an ugly gray color. This place was definitely different from the City Of Harmony. He was beginning to wonder ever so slightly if he should have listened to his mother.
Dusk remembered how his parents told him the story of their adventures in the Dragon Graveyard when they were young and his grandparents came to his parents' rescue. But the difference between that place and the Outlands that Dusk can see is that there are no bones here. And being the Prince of the City Of Harmony, he should be safe. After all, there were no Diamond Dogs here.
When Dusk was about to explore some more, he tripped and rolled off the log as he bumped into somepony.
The pony that Dusk bumped into was an Alicorn filly. She appears to be younger than Dusk and she had pale, light grayish arctic blue fur, her feathered wings are light amaranth with brilliant amaranth elytra, her eyes are moderate cyan, and her mane is a light amaranth.
The filly jumped up and let out a small growl as her horn started to glow intensely.
Dusk gasped and backed away from the filly in fear.
"Who are you, Equestrian Citizen?" The Filly asked, her voice filled with hate.
Dusk backed away from her not turning his back on the filly, just like his mother told him. Even when the filly tries to intimidate him with her magic, Dusk still didn't turn his back on her. This has got the filly a bit confused. Mostly everyone in the Outlands didn't mess with her, much less stand up to her. After all, she was the most important Outsider, and the rightful next ruler of Equestria, at least in the Outsiders eyes. Though she wasn't sure she wanted to be. And this colt did impress her by standing his ground.
"What are you doing?" The filly asked, her voice no longer sounding hateful.
"My mother said to never turn your back on an Outsider." Dusk said, trying to sound brave like his mother was.
"You always do what 'Mommy' says?" The filly asked, mockingly.
"No!" Dusk replied, getting annoyed with the mock.
"Bet you do! Bet you are 'Mommy's' little boy!" The Filly laughed haughtily.
Then the filly walked out onto a piece of oddly colored land and said, "An Outsider like me doesn't need anypony. I take care of myself."
"Whooooa, really? That's cool." Dusk commented, now interested as he followed the filly onto the land, unaware that a pair of eyeballs have opened, and a low snarl was heard.
The filly turned to Dusk with a prideful smile until she looked up, and her expression became fright and shock for behind Dusk are the gaping jaws of a Cragadiles. The filly screamed as Dusk looked behind himself and saw the Cragadile and screamed as well. The two foals took off running, missing the snap of the Cragadile as the reptile plunges into the water.
Dusk and the Filly ran to a small rock and looked back to see if they lost the Cragadile. But it appears they didn't for the giant Reptile lunged out of the water and tried to snap at the Filly, who managed to dodge its' jaws again by moving higher up the rock near Dusk.
"This way, come on!" Dusk said as he and the Filly jumped off the rock and avoided another snap of the Cragadiles' jaws.
The Cragadile snarls in annoyance at his failed attempts.
Dusk and the Filly ran from rock to rock to get as far away from the Cragadile as possible. Soon, the two foals came across two more rocks and stopped to catch their breaths.
"Hehe, that was a close one, huh?" Dusk chuckled.
"Yeah." The Filly giggled in reply.
But their victory was short-lived when the rocks began to move. That's when the two foals found out they weren't standing on regular rocks but below them are more Cragadiles. Dusk and the Filly screamed and panicked as they leaped off the snouts of the Cragadiles and began running for their lives.
The Alicorn Filly jumped onto a tree and clanged on as Dusk ran by past her.
"Hey, what are you doing?" She asked.
"I'll distract them! Run!" Dusk replied while dodging the snapping jaws of the Cragadiles. Until he landed on a Cragadiles' tail which went up and Dusk was sent splashing into the water.
Dusk quickly surfaced for air and started coughing a little before seeing a hungry Cragadile swimming towards him. The Alicorn filly uses her magic to scare off the Cragadile until she noticed how they changed their attention to Dusk and started to swim after him.
"Look out!" She yelled as Dusk quickly swam to a nearby tree and tried climbing onto it until he saw the gaping jaws of the Cragadile coming towards him, causing him to yell in fright.
But just when the huge reptile was about to take a bite, its' jaws smashed back down hard on nothing but air for the Alicorn Filly has leaped off the tree and onto the Cragadiles' jaw.
"Move it!" She yelled as Dusk quickly climbed onto the tree and the Filly follows him, jumping off the Cragadiles' snout.
The two Alicorns climbed the tree that'll lead them back into Equestria all while also dodging the snapping jaws of the Cragadiles. One Cragadile missed them and snapped his jaws on the tree branch. The Filly managed to make it to the edge of Equestria, but as Dusk was about to make it, the branch was beginning to shake. Dusk looked back to see the Cragadile trying to break the branch off.
Not wanting to become lunch, Dusk quickly jumped for it and made it to Equestria, safely. They panted hard, catching their breath once again. Snarling and growling was heard as Dusk and the Filly looked over the ledge and saw the Cragadiles trying to get them but couldn't, for the land was too high for them to climb.
"I did it…I Did It!" Dusk said quietly at first and then with triumph as he then, just for good measure, blew a raspberry at the Cragadiles.
Dusk and the Filly laughed as they headed off into Equestria.
