Chapter 6:

We Are One

Later as the day was about to come to an end and the sun was beginning to set, Twilight and her family slowly made their way to the Castle Of Harmony with the Mane 5 leading the way with the two Alicorns following in the middle and Twilight and Flash bringing up the rear. But then Twilight stopped at the top of the hill still carrying Dusk.

"Twilight?" Flash asked, turning to see his wife stopping at the hill.

Twilight cleared her throat in reply, trying to tell her husband that she needs to have a talk with their son.

Flash understood and nodded once as he continues on, catching up to the others as they headed back to the Castle.

Twilight set Dusk down on a rock next to her as the young Colt tried the grinning tactic that his parents once did when they were his age. But that tactic didn't work when Twilight gave her son a stern look on her face, not very pleased that her son disobeyed her rule. So Dusk stopped, knowing he was in trouble.

"Dusk, what did you think you were doing? You could've been killed today!" Twilight said, reminding her son that the Outlands is a very dangerous place for a foal.

"Mom, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to…" Dusk said, trying to apologize.

"Dusk, I'm telling you this because I love you. I don't want to lose you," Twilight said, reminding her foal how precious he is to her. She could not imagine what she would do if she lost him.

"I know, Mom," Dusk said, sighing sadly and feeling a bit guilty.

"If something happened to you, I don't know what I would do," Twilight said, nuzzling her son with care.

"One day, Dusk, I won't be here to rule this kingdom and I need you to carry on my place and our family legacy. You are part of the Great…" Twilight explained to Dusk as she looks up into the sky.

"...Magic Of Friendship. I know, Mom," Dusk responded in a bored tone.

This was the one thing that kind of annoyed Dusk. Was that all his mother thought about? Did she truly see him as a pony, or a piece of a puzzle?

"Exactly, that's why you need to be careful. As the future king…" Twilight said, placing her hoof on her son's mane.

"But what if I don't want to be king, Mom?! It's just no fun!" Dusk said, feeling a bit disappointed about being a king and not something else.

"That's like saying you don't want to be an Alicorn. It's in your blood as I am. We are part of each other." Twilight said with a light smile.

Dusk just looked away with his eyes closed and his head up from his mother until Twilight playfully nudged him off the rock and into some Dandelions, catching him by surprise. Dusk looked up to see his mother smiling at him and Dusk smiled too, a little sheepishly.

The young prince got up and headed to his mother as the two shared a mother-son nuzzle with each other as Twilight then begins to sing…

Twilight: As you go through life you'll see there is so much that we….do understand.

While Twilight was singing, she and Dusk looked up to see a mother Blue Bird flying back to her nest to feed her chicks. But one chick ran off away from the nest and headed to the end of the branch where it started flapping its wings until it took to the air and chirped happily.

Dusk smiled, thinking that the little bird might be able to go and see the world.

Twilight: And the only thing we know is things don't always go…. the way we planned.

But just when the bird was about to set out, its mother flew in front of it, looking very cross. Not wanting to disobey its mother, the chick flew back to the nest with its siblings as the mother flew and gently landed over her babies, covering them with her feathers.

Dusk was a little disappointed that the baby bluebird didn't get far but he knew that the mother just wanted her chick to be safe. So Dusk followed his mother.

Twilight: But you'll see every day that we'll never turn away. When it seems all your dreams come undone.

Twilight climbed up the top of a rock to see a herd of Caribou grazing before turning her attention to a mother Caribou who is helping her newborn calf up to its knees. The calf was having a bit of a struggle as its legs started wobbling and it fell to the ground. The mother Caribou helped her calf up by lifting it up her snout until the calf finally got the hang of it.

Twilight looked down to see Dusk watching the Caribou calf too. He smiled once again, thinking that the calf might have better luck than the baby bluebird.

Twilight: We will stand by your side filled with hope and filled with pride…

The Caribou calf was still struggling until its legs were no longer wobbly and it started running happily. The calf ran until its mother caught up and guided it back to the herd.

Twilight: We are more than we are…..

We Are One!

Twilight then headed off as Dusk follows after his mother.

Chorus: A Family…

A family of Griffons was grooming each other from Father Griffon to Mother Griffon to Younger Griffon to Youngest Griffon.

In a pond, a mother Sea Pony emerged with her baby on her back. The baby Sea Pony then leaped off its mother and landed on its father's back next. And when the baby Sea Pony jumped, it splashed into the water, but emerged on both its parents' backs, smiling.

Twilight and Dusk saw them as they were walking across the log bridge.

Dusk began singing while watching the Sea Ponies before looking down at his reflection…

Dusk: If there's so much I must be, can I still just be me…the way I am?

While Dusk looked at his reflection, he saw his mothers' looming over him before she moved on and then a fish jumped out of the water and splashed back.

Dusk: Can I trust in my own heart, or am I just one part... of some big plan?

Then Dusk turned and looked up at the sky to see a flock of red birds flying above him in a V-formation. They flew past Twilight standing on a branch looking proud and majestic as the wind blew against her mane.

Twilight: Even those who are gone are with us as we go on.

Your journey has only begun.

Twilight looked up at the sky where she sees two stars shining and the birds flying off somewhere unknown to her while Dusk flew up to a branch next to her and Twilight turned to her son with a motherly smile.

Twilight: Tears Of Pain.

Tears Of Joy.

One thing nothing can destroy…

…Is our pride deep inside…

…We Are One!

Twilight looked at her son with a smile before looking out with a look of pride and confidence on her face. Then she and Dusk looked out into their kingdom seeing how their subjects are living together in peace, harmony, and friendship.

Then the two Alicorns raced off down the hill to their kingdom home.

Twilight and Dusk raced each other having fun. They ran past some Kirins, Dragons, Yaks, Ponies, and Griffons as they watched the two Alicorns having fun and running home.

Twilight: We Are One, you and I…

We are like the Earth and sky

One family under the sun.

Twilight and Dusk ran and ran as they splashed over a puddle and jumped over some rocks with the setting sun behind them.

Twilight: All the wisdom to lead….

All the courage that you need…

As the last lyrics were sung, Twilight came upon some steps and stopped as she turned to Dusk, who slowly came to a stop slowly becoming puzzled.

Twilight: You will find when you see…

We Are One!

After singing the last lyrics, Twilight looked up at the Castle, looking proud and remarkable.

Dusk, however, was very puzzled because he doesn't know what his mother mean.

Seeing her sons' confused face, Twilight headed to him with a caring mother smile.

"As long as you live here, it's who you are." Twilight said to her son, before hugging him and kissing him on the forehead, "You'll understand someday when you're older,".

And like that, Twilight turns to her son with a smile before heading off inside the Castle.

Dusk then heard chirping and looked to see the baby bluebird from earlier flying all on its own. Dusk smiled as he turned to see the bluebird flying above him and then watched as the little bird flew all around him before flying away to somewhere.

Although Dusk wished he could go on an adventure, he's just happy to see the little bird go off and have a journey to see the world. So Dusk decided to just watch the bird fly off beyond the sunset as he sat down, knowing that someday he will go on an adventure too.
